Droid Razr M Self Resetting After KitKat Update

My Razr M has been trying unsuccessfully to download the kitkat update since it became available. First I thought it was a memory space issue, but after making room it would still fail during the install process. My phone has had increasing problems every time it tries again to install the update, mostly self resetting more & more frequently. It has now gotten to the point that it freezes when trying to reset and I cannot get my phone to turn on all the way. Please help!!

    Hello evrangl,
I'm glad to see that you are exciting to experience the new update for your Droid Razr M. With so many new features, you're sure to re-fall in love with your device. May I ask is your personal info backed up on either your Gmail account or Verizon cloud? If so, and you know your username and password, then I would suggest performing a factory reset on the device, try to install the update without your info on the Razr M, and re-apply your info if the update is successful. The update should also resolve the issue that you are experiencing with your device. Here's a link with the steps to a factory reset. http://vz.to/1oKtYXT. If more assistance is needed then feel free to respond for additional assistance.
Thank you...

  • Droid Razr M new problems after latest update 182.46.15.en.us

Ever since KitKat was pushed to my droid razr m, I have not been happy.  Very decreased battery life along with the phone getting and staying quite warm.  The loss of swype that was included when I bought it (yes, I know I COULD buy the app for cheap, but that's just not right).  Some app icons now have a solid background that used to be transparent.  Changes in notifications, messaging, etc that I never asked for.
Now comes a "security update".  I was hoping it would resolve some of the issues, but things are now worse.  The battery doesn't last me the full day anymore unless I keep it in my pocket.  Even worse - when someone sends me a picture message, it just says 30kb downloading.  It can be an hour or more before I ever get to see what was sent.  I know a million people say this every day, but I REALLY can't wait until my contract is up with Verizon.  If they would make updates optional instead of interrupting what you're doing every 10 minutes to install the update you don't want, then I'd be fine.  If I could have my original phone back the way it was when I bought it, I'd be excited to remain a loyal customer.
this is two failed updates in a row that are forced on us.  Can't wait to be done.

        andrewsernestine,

  • Droid DNA camera not working after KitKat update

I have updated my Droid DNA to the latest KitKat update.  Now the camera doesn't open and says "Unable to start the camera".
has anyone else seen this?  Does anyone know ho to uninstall the update, or fix the issue.  I've tried third party camera apps and they all cant open the camera.
    Thanks for any responses!!!

No it is not covered under the warranty.  I upgrade the phone with Verizon approved upgrade and it breaks my phone and i am told since it is outside of warranty I am out of luck. I have to live with a smart phone with no camera or pay a huge deductible to have my phone insurance cover it.  I just hope I'm not the only one with a camera problem so maybe HTC will provide another update to fix the camera.  Maybe some day I will have use of my camera again

  • Droid RAZR M Keeps Restarting After Software Update

I just updated the firmware on my phone to whatever the latest one is, and now it restarts every minute or so, and there's nothing I can do to stop it.  Any ideas?

        Djackcrum,
I want to make sure that you are able to get full function of the phone. And with it resetting every minute it makes it really hard to use the phone. It sounds like that the update may of had a small hiccup in it. Please try to power the device off yourself. Then once the device is off can we please remove the sim card. Leave the sim card out for a good 10-15 seconds. Then power back up the device normally. http://vz.to/1gs236i Please keep us posted.

  • Droid Razr M Battery after KitKat Update

I recently updated my Droid Razr M with the KitKat update when prompted.  Battery life went from not needing to be charged for well over a day, to draining from 100% before the work day ended with light use.
I contacted Verizon and humored them and did the "battery trouble shooting" things with them, even though it appears to be a well known issue.  When the troubleshooting had no effect after a few days, we did a factory reset, which also didn't help.  I ended up getting a new phone because I had extended warranty coverage.
When I got the new phone, the battery was a dream, just like old times, after 2 days the system prompted me to do the KitKat update, which I did against my better judgement.
Meanwhile my husband also did the KitKat update on his Droid Razr M and started experiencing virtually the same battery problems.  Now both of our batteries drain about 50% faster than they did before the update.
My question is, if this is a known issue with Verizon, why bother treating it like user error?  It also seems like to "resolve the battery problem" (which they don't acknowledge is a direct product of the update) they ask users to basically not use their phone normally, but limit their usage to get more battery life, which isn't a solution at all. Is there an actual solution related the the problem (the KitKat update) that I can use to extend battery life on my phone?  Or should we both call and request replacement phones since the malfunction is not due to any sort of user error?

        Richard-in-Brooklyn
I'm sorry to hear about the sudden trouble with your battery on the Razr M! Let's check into our options to resolve this. Were any new applications added to the phone recently? Does this continue if you place the device into Safe Mode for 24 hours? Here's how: http://vz.to/LZzdS9

  • Droid razr m still having promlems after kitkat update

My droid razr m still seems to be having problems.  I am very frustrated since the update was in May and it is now nearly September.  My Bluetooth cuts in and out. my apps sometimes will not open at all. my battery randomly drains for no reason. The wifi will only connect to my home wireless some of the time.  All of these issues have been reported to Verizon and nothing has been done.  I am not due for an upgrade until December of this year and am also very frustrated that Verizon did away with the early contract renewal.  My husband and I have been with Verizon for nearly 15 years and I am starting to get very frustrated with the inferior phones that Verizon has sold me.

I know exactly what you mean!! I wonder if the update might be part of my problem as well. My phone drops every single call I get. I have to go outside to accept any calls and it still always drops every single call. Often I can not use the internet on my phone or it randomly drops wifi/internet. It freezes up frequently and my apps freeze up alot. I have been debating on calling customer service but who has hours to waste just to be given the run around and of course my phone would drop the call anyway.
My internet that I also get through Verizon has been absolutely horrible lately as well. I often wonder if they even care about their customers at all.

  • HP Slate 21 audio issue after KitKat update and reset

I have upgraded my HP Slate 21 from JB to KK. Now the sound quality is very bad!
I came directly from xxx.11 kernel and made factory reset but didn't get a good result. Please how can I fix this tremendous issue?

    Hey @PauloTxR ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're experiencing issues with sound quality on your Slate 21 PC.
Please review the following thread: HP Slate 21 Kit Kat OTA Update Fix for Audio Quality and LAN Connectivity.
This fix will resolve audio issues of a software nature resulting in the KitKat update. If your issue persists after applying the specific update mentioned in this thread and have done a factory reset, the issue is likely hardware related and not the result of the KitKat update.
If you have done the above and continue to have problems please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • HP Slate 7 Voice Tab overheat after kitkat update

    Hi,
I was using my Slate 7 voide tab for last around 8 months without any major issue. Minor issues like touch becomes very sluggish after switching on 3G was normal.
Yesterday kitkat update got installed on my tab and than nightmare starts. First "clean master" app is showing alert periodically that CPU is overheating (80 degree celsius). Today tab got hanged while some important call was coming. I was able to see people calling but touch was not responding. Tried to hard boot, but again some process error came on screen and whole tab was in hanged state for an hour. I can only see people calling and calling.
When battery got drained, I restarted it but CPU temperature is always above 80 degree celsius and I believe its obviously much above normal. I never got these problems with Jelly Beans.
Its really very frustrating to know why HP released an update which is full of bugs!!!

    Hey @Abhinandank ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing issues with heat after updating to KitKat on your Slate 7 VoiceTab.
Before troubleshooting any heat issue, remove the tablet from the case if you are using one. Test the tablet without the case and see if the issue persists.
You can also try apps like Android Task Manager that will sweep running processes and boost memory to reduce load on your tablet.
    Regarding the touchscreen:
Clear all cache on the tablet: Settings > Storage > Cached Data. You should have the option to erase all the cached data here.
Hard reset: While the tablet is on, press and hold the power button for 8+ seconds to force shut down. Turn the tablet back on and see if that helps.
Factory reset: Make sure you backup any important files or information first. Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
If none of that works, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide.

  • BMW pairs with RAZR, but no contacts after ICS update

One of many problems since ICS update:
BMW pairs with RAZR via bluetooth, but cannot access contact list on phone.  I can manually dial and connect phone calls through car.
Dialog box on Phone asks to access BMW, I press OK, same dialog box appears...repeat ad infinitum.
I have deleted phone pairing, re-paired, soft reboot, re-paired...still no contact list appears on car's communications screen.
Had no problem with car/ phone pairing prior to ICS update.

  • Blank screen after KitKat update

I just completed the KitKat update on an Ellipsis 7 tablet that's connected to Verizon's network, but now I'm only getting a blank screen after the welcome screen displays. Fyi: the first part of this update went smoothly. Can anyone can help me resolve this issue? I really like this tablet and use it everyday.

I contacted Verizon support and a couple of techs attempted to walk me through alternate boot methods. However, as bassclarinetl2 noted, "pressing the power button to turn the device off results in the device powering up by itself and both 'safe mode' and 'factory reset' are inaccessible via their button combinations." Therefore, I'm sending my tablet in to be repaired or replaced under warranty. Depending on how long you've had your Ellipsis 7 tablet, you may be able to do the same.
Incidentally, I have another (seemingly) identical Ellipsis 7 tablet and was able to successfully install the KitKat upgrade on this second tablet, which I'm using now. The sooner Verizon determines why the upgrade worked on one tablet and not the other, the better.

  • Note 3 hdmi not working after kitkat update

    hello all,
i have the note 3 and i used to use the hdmi with the MHL cable before the recent update. after installing the kitkat update i cannot get the hdmi out to work at all. ive rest the phone, ive cleared the cache, restarted the phone and tv while cable was hooked up. nothing happens but the usb charges the phone.. dont have any more ideas, need help please.

Oh my, Mr.JuggZ. You have certainly done some great troubleshooting steps. When connecting the phone to the MHL cable, aside from charging does your phone notify you of the connection? Please try using the phone in Safe Mode while trying to connect: http://vz.to/1d0SZSq

  • Profiles being reset after windows updates?

    Hi All
I'm having issues with Outlook 2013 SP1 resetting our users profiles after Windows Updates have been applied. Their profiles are being reset whilst their previous profiles are being renamed to "BACKUP of <profile name>".
Office 2013 x86 has been deployed via VL Media onto Win7 x64 machines and we are distributing the ImportPRF registry key via GPO (set to Update) in order to customise the profiles on first run. (basic email account and attaching a default PST file)
It appears that after windows updates are applied outlook is triggering the first run process again and therefore resetting the users profiles back to the standard set in our PRF.
We used this method to configure Outlook 2010 and for the years of deploying Office 2010 we never had any issues. Can anyone suggest what might be going on here or what might have changed in Office 2013?
    Thanks

  • When does the Droid Razr Maxx get the Jelly Bean Update????

This update was promised before the end of the year! It went out through a mistake to a couple users on December 24th. So when will we get it?

I don't ever remember seeing anywhere that it was promised before Jan 1st. According to Moto's site it has always been and is still listed as:
    DROID RAZR (XT912)
ICS (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
    DROID RAZR MAXX (XT912)

  • Theme removed from z1 compact after kitkat update

    Hello!
I recently updated my z1 compact to kitkat. I find the basic xperia theme missing ,that was available for Jelly Bean. I really liked the lock screen that came wih that particular theme and I want the same for my kitkat update too. I could find only few themes in Sony Select. Please suggest where i could get that theme.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Unfortunately the Xperia theme is not available in KitKat. The new standard theme is 'Air'. Perhaps you can find the old lock screen image and download it to the phone. You can change the lock screen wallpaper under settings > personalization > lock screen.

  • Droid 2 global doesnt work after new update

I have a droid 2 global but it is prepaid and now after the latest update it doesnt work. Can verizon replace my prepaid phone or do I have to purchase another phone?

Currently, I am not showing a way to remove the Street View for Google Maps application from the device. If you are adamant about removing this feature, the next available option would be doing a factory reset. This can be completed through the following steps:
    Factory Reset option 1
From the main screen, touch menu tab
    Touch Settings
    Touch Privacy
    Touch Factory Data reset
    Touch Reset Phone
    Touch Erase Everything
Warning: This will erase all data from your phone, including:
    Your Google account
System and application data and settings
    Downloaded Applications
It will not erase: Current System software and bundled applications; SD Card files, such as music or Photos
Factory Reset option 2  - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
    Turn off the phone
Power on phone while pressing "X" key on qwerty keypad - release "X" and power key after you see Motorola batwings.
You should now see an "!" in a triangle with Android guy
Press the "Search" key on qwerty keypad to enter factory menu, this will unhide the menu and show the following options
    Reboot system Now
    Apply sdcard:update.zip
    Wipe Data/Factory Reset
    Wipe Cache Partition
Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and then use Camera side key or Menu key to select "wipe data/factory reset"
Use Vol Up / Vol down to navigate to  "Yes delete all user data" and then use Camera key to select "Yes - delete all user data"
Wait for operation to complete (maybe 1 minute or so) and then press camera key to select "reboot system now"
