If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

Did you select all of the music to sync by clicking on the playlists or albums or whatever you use in iTunes - in order for them to sync? Or did you click on Entire Music Library if you want all of your music on the iPad?

When I try to sync my iPhone 4s it no longer works. I have a bunch of songs that now show up on my iPhone with a red circle with a box inside of it and they won't play, yet I can find them and play them on my Mac. What do I do?

IBook G4 won't turn on, tried PMU reset multiple ways, what else can I do?

I'm writing about a dual USB iBook G4 without physical reset button that after a screen freeze from which I had to shut down by holding down the power button now refuses to turn on at all. I have tried resetting the PMU by pressing shift-control-option-power waiting five seconds and then pressing power again as described in the Apple article, but without success. I've done this in a variety of ways: with the battery in and out and with the A/C cord connected and disconnected. No luck. The battery is charged, so the A/C connection is working. Are there any tricks I am missing, or do I need to bring this computer to a repair shop at this point?

After "resting" for about two hours with the battery out and the A/C unplugged I tried the PMU reset one more, then plugged in the power cord and, voila! it turned on. Now I can teach my classes again. I still don't know what the trouble was or what the solution was, but maybe sitting idle for a while was what the computer needed.

MacBook Pro - Hard Drive replaced now external won't allow me to view any of my back ups from my previous hard drive that crashed folders have red circle with minus sign in them and says I don't have permission, how do I get around this?

My MacBook Pro's hard drive failed a little while back and the hard drive was replaced, however all my items on my external were linked to that hard drive apparently, now I can't get into my back up files for my business as I'm getting an error telling me I don't have permission to view the files, I can't figure out how to over ride this setting to get to my stuff for my business which is really NOT GOOD for my clients or the contracts I'm under, does anyone know how to get past this and get the external to work like it is supposed to?

Select the drive and Finder > Get info and at the bottom "ignore permissions on this volume"
You can copy the files, but the ownership on the files still belongs to the other user account, once your done copying, then perform a #6 Reset Users Permissions and that will set all the ownership to that account.

Another method is to copy the entire folder, then change it's permissions.

As Rc indicated some USB's can have issues I have't seen any troubles in the one's that I currently own but I have more than one that I can use Plus I have the old Traditional OEM charger's that Motorola currently sell's but's not included in the box with the phone) The one you see below is one that I have and is usually found with an accessory..
If the phone is not passed the 14 day return, box it up with it's papers and return it to the store and have a Rep check it out with another charger if it works ok and you want to keep it Go a head) But if you'd rather exchange for another one see if the Rep will let you do it. If wjosten's tip doesn't work try plugging it into a USB charger (not through your computer), wait about 30 seconds and it should come on. If it doesn't remove the cord from the phone and keep trying this. I've had this same issue and found a combination of the reset & charging cable tends to work. Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for the phone to respond.

I bought a new ipod since my old one broke. And it's a brand new one. It works when I connect it in the computer to sync and it has my music and plays. But it won't turn on unless it is connected to the charger. I have left it charging and it still isn't charged full it says. I have restored it, I have reset. Try that. If that doesn't help:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Keep iPhone on wall charger for ten minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.
