Droid X Contacts Problem

This problem has to do with Contacts being displayed consistently between the various APS that use them. These all worked fine and as expected until I shut down the phone.  The problem started and remains after turning the phone back on.  All my contacts were synced from my BlackBerry Tour by a Verizon Wireless technician at the time of the Driod X purchase.
Examples of the problems I having are:
Only a few contacts (mostly the defaults contacts I believe) are displayed when I launch the Contacts app.  All Contacts was selected by default, and changing the selection to Favorites or Phone Contacts both came up empty.  But when I press the Phone icon to make a call, and touch to display contacts, all my contacts are displayed correctly as Phone Contacts.
The same problem exists attempting to select a Contact to Text.  It show my previous contacts that I text with.  When I try to bring up my Contacts to text someone else the same few Contacts are displayed and not my Phone Contacts.
Does anyone else have this same problem?

Yes, I do think that we are all in the same boat here!  I think Google has to rethink how it handles contacts, and fix this frustrating problem.  Contacts on phone should be based on the phone, and not Gmail or anything else.  I've never had a problem with contacts on any other phone before in my life!
There was someone who posted they do not have the same problem. My problem started after I powered down the phone I believe.  All contact was proper and available when I took the phone out of the store.
I also would like it if we could post the Droid model number and OS version so we can be sure we are all talking about the device setup.
I have:
Driod X
System Version 1.13.516.MB810.Verizon.en.US
Firmware 2.1-update1
Kernel version 2.6.29
Build number VZW
I am not sure what other information is pertinent.
Thank you for all the input!!!

  • I'm having contacts problems. I just updated my iPhone 4S iOS to 6.0.1. And after that, I started having Contacts problems. My contact list is disappearing automatically, and I have to Import SIM everytime, to bring the contacts back.

It all started after updating my software to iOS 6.0.1. Contact problems, disappearing automatically, and I have to IMPORT SIM everytime when it happens, to bring my contacts back. And this is happening more when I'm using Whatsapp application. Every two hours using Whatsapp, my contact list is dissapearing, I'm seeing only numbers. I thought it was an Whatsapp problem, but after that, when I go into my Phone's contact list, I can see nothing ! Empty ! So I guess it's a software problem or something. Please help. Thank you.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Contact problems

    Hello,
I have a BlackBerry 9300 and i have contact problems with my phone.
I tried to sync my contacts with Funambol but, when the sync is done, I can't read or delete my contacts. My BB's OS version is 5.0.
So, I upgraded my BB to 6.0, then I didn't have this problem anymore.
Can somebody explain me why I have this problem. I' m a presales Engineer at a Frensh ISP, and we want to provide our customers a sync solution with Funambol, but all our BBs are on 5.0.
    Best Regards,
    Smail

Yes! It keeps changing the contact pics! Hate that. I have one set and the phone decides to switch to a Facebook pic. Linking SHOULD be clever, but the way BlackBerry does it, it's annoying.

  • Contact problems with 920

I just got a review 920 from Nokia, and i have a contacts problem.
I was under the impression that contacts were automatically stored in the linked Hotmail account, and this seems to be the case because all my Lumia 800 contacts are listed when i go to my account in the web browser. But, when i put that account into my 920, none of the contacts appeared. So i then added my Google account, which brought most of them down, then Facebook, then linked them together and hid my Facebook friends from showing. All working fine - annoying that they weren't pulled immediately from Hotmail, but they're there now.
However, i rebooted the phone, and when i opened People, they were all unlinked and Facebook contacts were showing again. OBviously i don't want to be fixing this on every reboot, so is there something i'm not doing correctly? I never had this problem on my Lumia 800.

Check "People, settings, filter my contact list" and make sure the box "Show contacts" for Hotmail is ticked.
Still don't understand it when you say that "most" of your Google contacts appeared, unless you didn't give it a while to update.
No sorry, it brought all my Google contacts, but those represent most of my overall contacts - the rest are in Hotmail.
In people > settings > filter, Hotmail is ticked, Facebook is not. But my Facebook contacts are all displaying, and everything is unlinked after i rebooted. And my Hotmail contacts just won't download, even though it should automatically. So this is a major pain.

  • Transfer Facebook contact photos to Droid Maxx contact list

My phone and Facebook are in Sync as far as sharing pictures, etc.  However, I can't figure out how to get my facebook friend pictures to post to my Droid Maxx contact list.  Anyone know how to do this?

I know its important to have your pictures display on your social media sites and your contact list drdobbs83. You can try the steps below to help with this option.
      • From a home screen, select People (located at the bottom).
If unavailable, navigate: Apps > People .
      • From the Groups tab, select the group to display.
Below is another set of steps using the contacts application.
The Contacts application uses an intelligent merge feature to combine contact information from various sources (Gmail, Microsoft® Exchange, Facebook, new entries, etc.). If contact information was joined in error, the information can be separated back into individual contacts.
      • From a home screen, select People (located at the bottom).
If unavailable, navigate: Apps > People
      • From the All contacts tab (located at the top), select a contact.
      • Select Menu (located in the upper right).
      • Select Edit.
      • Select Menu .
      • Select Join or separate
    Please keep us posted.

  • Mini Droid closes contacts periodically after upgrading to new OS,  Just got the phone and its the only problem

This only started when I did the upgrade to the new OS.  I have disconnected Google Sync contacts, thinking that was the case, but it still does it periodically
    Any help would be appreciated.

        Hello parejf63!
I'd love to get to the bottom of this! First, let me clarify this for you. When you say that your device closes contacts, do you mean that when you are looking at one of your contacts, the device closes the page and takes you back to the home screen? Please elaborate for me and provide me with some additional data.
    Thanks,

  • Droid x voicemail problem

I have been having a problem with my voicemail icon not disappearing after I have cleared out all of my messages.
I have checked to see if there is a way to reset the notification, and there wasn't.  I looked at the notification area and the clear button did not make it go away.  There was no x button or anything at the icon.  When I press and hold the icon it calls my voice mail and does not give me a option to delete it.
This is the second time around I have had this problem.  I did a full system reset on my droid x and that seemed to fix the problem for a couple of days.  But once I received another voicemail the icon will not go away again.
Any idea's on how to fix this or should I just call Verizon and get rid of it?

had the same problem, coming over from BB... Here is what I have found... You can do it (adding the pauses) by editing the number in the contacts list...  You MUST change the keyboard layout to multi-tap.....there u will find the pause and wait keys...... The only thing about doing this is that in order to use this feature is that u have to go into contacts and select Voice Mail... You cannot use the Voice Mail Icon on the home screen...  It is proprietary... I noticed the two little buttons at the bottom of the screen...(call voice mail) and (Subscibe to Visual Voice Mail)... Guess what.. If you subscribe to Visual Voice Mail you can use the Voice Mail Button on the home screen and not have to enter the paswword everyime....  Con: 2.99  month.... I subscribed to see how it works... Nice little feature.... shows who left the voice mail what time. etc....
Now there is an article over on the Motorola site about how to use the pause and wait features... I found it and wished I had bookmarked it....Do a search on "adding pause to dialing" in the support forums for Droid X... There are a few, but one had detailed instructions with pictures...
    Hope this helps.

  • Best Practice for Droid Gmail Contacts with Exchange ActiveSync?

Hi, folks.  After going through an Address Book nightmare this past summer, I am attempting to once again get my Contacts straight and clean.  I have just started a new job and want to bring my now clean Gmail contacts over to Exchange.  The challenge is creating duplicate contacts, then defining a go-forward strategy for creating NEW contacts so that they reside in both Gmail and Exchange without duplication.  Right now, my Droid is master and everything is fine.  However, once I port those contacts from Gmail onto my laptop, all hell breaks loose... Does Verizon have a Best Practice finally documented for this?  This past summer I spoke with no less than 5 different Customer Support reps and got 3 different answers... This is not an uncommon problem...

In parallel to this post, I called Verizon for Technical Support assistance.  Seems no progress has been made.  My issue this past summer were likely a result of extremely poor quality products from Microsoft, which included Microsoft CRM, Microsoft Lync (new phone system they are touting which is horrible), and Exchange.  As a go-forward strategy, I have exported all Gmail contacts to CSV for Outlook and have imported them to Exchange.  All looks good.  I am turning off phone visibility of Gmail contacts and will create all new contacts in Exchange.

  • Droid Bionic Contacts

Alright, so if this isnt in the correct section, i apologize. here is the problem...first off the bionic has been an awesome phone for the things that i use it for...im very pleased with it so far. the only issue i have is that when they brought my contacts over from my OG droid to the bionic...i ended up with most of my contacts being double contacts. the first one will be the one from my old phone with the persons correct phone number, and the second will have sometimes their right number but also old numbers of theirs that i had deleted up to 2 years ago. there are also contacts on there that i had deleted altogether in the past two years. i tried to unsync all the other accounts associated with the phone and restarting (yahoo, gmail, and facebook) but nothing happened. i know its not from those though because some of the number are old work numbers of fire stations around the city that i know for sure i dont have on my yahoo, gmail or facebook. somehow they were brought over from the old phones memory from way back when. when i try to delete them, i get down about 8-10 contacts in and the phone kinda freezes and then replaces them all back. i have triend this 4 or 5 times with the same result. i took it to the store today and the lady that helped me transfer the onfo yesterday...very nice woman by the way...said she didnt know and that i could call tech support and they would probably be able to figure it out right away. i called but you cant call from the number that is affected and its rush hour so i didnt want to drive to a verizon store that had a tech support office. my fiancee is at work for the night so i dont have another phone to call from. i saw that there were verizon employees on here answering questions so i figured id post it here and see if i can get it resolved today. if not, i'll drive to the tech center tomorrow. ive tried a few different things on the phone to get rid of them but havent had any luck.. i dont know if this is just an easy fix or something else...or if other people have had this same problem. thanks for any assistance in advance.
    chris

I am having the same issue as others.  I'm coming over from a BB where the VZW rep transferred the contacts for me.  Once I setup my e-mail accounts, FB, etc.  I started having duplicate contacts.  At first, I was able to straighten this out by using the Display option under contacts.  This only temporarily solved the problem.  All of the duplicates have returned, except now the information within each contact has begun to duplicate.  For instance, I have a contact that I originally had on my phone and nowhere else.  I had notes about that particular contact and now those notes have duplicated themselves within that contact literally 100's of times!  I have tried to edit this contact directly from the phone to no avail.  Please look into this and provide a fix.  I'm seeing this type of error reported over several different Android forums and nobody has a solution that has solved this issue yet.  It keeps coming back.  This is extremely frustrating when you need to actually use the phone for it's main intention, a phone.

  • Droid 3, contact issues...help!

Recently, I had to do a master reset on my Droid 3, due to a number of issues. (Let's just hope this solves them!) Anyway, while trying to restore my contacts (ran Backup Assistant and everything else), I have run into two small yet very annoying problems:
    1) When I try to send a text a particular person in my contact list (if it's relevant I have him, my pastor, listed as Pastor in the first name field and Joe in the last name field), the texting app won't pull up his number unless I type Joe first. Is there a way around this? It's worth noting that I had this issue before doing the reset. I can easily go back and use his regular first/last name, but I'd prefer to keep it this way if I can. This issue applies only to this one contact; every other one works, even for entries that aren't people (i.e. my work number)!
    2) I am going through my contacts and linked their phone numbers with their Facebook accounts, so that I can have their FB profile pics displayed in the contact list. I have been successful with all but two of them. Here is the process I have followed: Tap contact's name in list --> tap menu button and choose "edit contact" --> tap menu button again and choose "join" --> choose FB contact from list of suggested contacts. The problem is at this last point no contacts are being suggested, and choosing "all contacts" doesn't help because all it does is show those I have already saved. Again, this has worked for all of my contacts with the exception of these two, and I didn't have this problem before doing the reset. Both of these people have active FB accounts, and are on my friends list. I have my Facebook account set up properly in the Accounts section of my settings, have the FB for Android app downloaded/logged in, and just about every other possible step I can think of completed. Any advice? This is more frustrating than issue #1 above.
I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can offer. I realize these are fairly minor issues that I could probably overlook, but I would prefer not to. Thanks in advance!

    1) Very odd, don't know about that one.
    2) Try setting your facebook sync settings to sync all contacts (within the facebook app), give it some time to sync, then do the join process again.  Those particular contacts may not have any similar info (email address, phone number, etc.) so it may not recognize they are the same person (especially if you have a slightly different name for them, like I have my mom listed as "mom", and her facebook profile has her full name).  This should allow you to at least search for them.  After they are joined, you should be able to put it back to sync only existing contacts so that your phonebook isn't full of facebook friends that you are never planning on calling.

  • Droid 3 Keyboard Problems - Permanent Solution?

I'm going to post this again and mark it as a question in the hope that someone from Verizon will respond.
As has been widely reported by many thousands of users, the Droid 3 keyboard software is completely unreliable and repeatedly stops rendering keystrokes as letters on Android OS screens, whether it's during texting or simply entering contact names in fields. I battle this problem almost every day.
But let me save the support personnel some time and quote the advice that you're likely to give:
"Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > "All" tab. Then, scroll down to Multi touch keyboard and push "Force Stop" and "Clear Cache." Once these steps are completed, re-test and post back with your results. Thanks!"
Verizon staff and people on other sites seem to enjoy repeating this same bit of advice, but this is not a viable solution. Often, once the phone has reached the state in which the keyboard stops working, the "Clear Cache" option becomes unresponsive. So the cache can never clear. Often the phone becomes so sluggish at this point that the only option is to take out the battery and do a hard reboot. Otherwise, even if the cache is cleared, this is only a temporary fix. The keyboard inevitably freezes up again in the future.
I've had this problem since a few months after I purchased the Droid 3 in late 2011. It has probably happened several hundred times, and that is not an exaggeration.
If there isn't a permanent fix for this problem, which seems to plague other Android phones as well, then I don't think I can ever trust buying a product from Verizon or an Android product again.

A hard reset is not a solution. Wiping everything from the phone and losing all data and apps doesn't resolve the problem with the OS. This has been widely reported as a problem with the Android software for the Verizon keyboard. It's not being caused by an app, so doing a hard reset and a one-by-one reinstall of applications will not isolate or address the problem. You can do a hard reset and have only the native applications, and the keyboard software will still malfunction. It affects the most basic built-in functionality of the OS like texting, contacts, etc.
No, I do not have an extended warranty for the phone, but other users have done warranty replacements and have encountered the same problem again. There have been some users that have replaced their phones twice with no solution.
The problem is with the OS and its keyboard software, and it's apparently not with the hardware. That's why I'm shocked that Google has not provided a solution and that Verizon hasn't insisted on one for its customers.

  • Droid X2 Dialing Problems?

When my DX2 has been at rest, or when I reboot my phone, I can maybe make one phone call.  After that when I try to either dial a number or select from my contacts it takes on average 30 seconds to a minute to dial the number (in that span of time I have probably hit the dial button seven to ten times because I am frustrated . . . much like the Power Point scenario when you slides are not advancing and when the computer finally catches up you get the 20+ slides advancing ; - )  ).  My question is this . . . what is causing this and what can I do to get this revolutionary funtion called (wait for it) making a call, back?  I thought it might have something to do with the number of apps a person has, or what they have running on their phone, e.g. Skpe, Weather Apps that run all the time, etc.  I consider this a high priority problem and would think there is solution.  As an aside, this is the very reason why I complained to Verizon when I had my HTC Droid Eris.  It too, was having the exact same issue with not dialig the call immediately.  So, I do not believe it is a Motorola problem.  So, the question still stands, what can I do to be able to make phone calls?

Hi there loleee71. I am sure that can be quite frustrating to have this issue. Did this problem just start? A hard reset may fix this issue. First, back up your contacts either using the Backup Assistant or by using Google contacts. Usually they backup automatically to Google if sync is checked. You can check if the contacts are backed up by logging on www.google.com/contacts . Pictures are saved on SD card. After ensuring your items are backed up, perform the hard reset. Here is how: http://bit.ly/oV4Meh .
Let us know if the issue persists after the reset.
    Thank you,

  • Two different conversations from same contact - Problem

    Hi..
I have a weird problem guys. Ive always used a 3GS, and never faced this issue before.
Ive bought a new brand iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.2 and problem is that when i create a new SMS message and send it to a contact, a new conversation appears, as usual.
But when that contact answers that same message, another conversation appears with the same contact over the first one.
This does not happen with all my contacts, only a few. I dont know if this is happening because of their carrier or what.
If i continue writing on the conversation "started" by my contact then, theres no problem at all.
The problem is that my new started conversation is different from the one started by my contact.
I must say that some of this contacts have only one number registered in my iphone so i dont think its an issue with numbers.
Im not using imessage, and also these people does not have idevices, so its not an imessage problem.
Im posting a picture for you to understand. I couldnt find anything related to this that happened to another person.
I dont know if its iOS related or what because i used only one version of iOS till now.
Please i need answers. Thanks in advanced!

    Purnendu,
Does not matter how many user groups are there - the only requirement you need to fulfil is the portal user id of these users should be exactly same (spelling) with their user id in the backend CRM systems. Then your basis administrator can easily import the verify.der certificate from portal in to the CRM system (for both clients) and have the SSO working for both.
Now create two roles - not one - one each for each client. Create two system objects connecting to CRM system's two clients, and create two iViews for each client. Add these iViews individually to seperate roles. Assign the first role to first group of users and second role to second group. If the SSO is configured correctly I dont see any issues here.
If you dont have all the userids for these two groups in the backend then probably you can use two userids in these two clients - and then do the user mapping between the groups and these two users. But better approach should be using logon tickets only.
    Regards,
    Shubhadip
