Droid X locking up in sleep mode

Has anyone else experienced their Droid X locking up in sleep mode?  Mine did that twice yesterday to the point I had to remove the battery to reset.  It would not even turn off.

{please keep your posts courteous} i cant even get mine to boot back up. my screen went to sleep right? then when i went to turn it back on cause i got a text it wouldnt go light. it lit up, but it lit up black instead of being in sleep mode. i can still hear my texts and whatnot being delivered but i cant see them to reply. got my phone like 4 days ago and its already trying to kill my social life... awesome.

is it normal wifi disconnect when iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.1 is locked or in Sleep mode? i wondering if this normal or not, coz my iPhone 5 disconnect when my phone is locked or in sleep mode,  any suggestion or comments are highly appreciated!

It sounds like to me that Apple has worked out a way that the data service providers can increase your usage of the cellular network to increase your bill which undoubtably has resulted in kickbacks. It is pretty crafty and I'm sure most people won't even notice. What really blows my mind is that they have people saying that it is to save battery life. I can't imagine that the ammount of suppossedly saved battery life is even messurable. Reeks of a scam to me.

  • HT1430 In iPad terms does "control lock" refer to sleep mode - turning off the screen?

Just getting familiar with the iPad.

Sorry, wrong term! I should have said "Auto Lock" not Control Lock. Auto Lock is in "Settings" "General", about half way down the menu.  I'm looking for a way to lengthen the time it takes to enter sleep mode. There are 5 options in Auto Lock. 2,5,10,15 minutes and Never.

  • Pavilion Slimline locks up in sleep mode-fan runs high-won't power up unless I pull power cord 1st

Brand new HP Pavilion Slimline 400-314 Desktop - while in sleep mode sometimes will cause the computer to lock up, the power light will be on solid, the fan is running on high.  Only way to unlock the computer is to hold the power button in for 5 seconds.  I wait for 15-20 seconds, then press the power button to turn it back on.  Immediatly the computer starts back up again with the power light on solid and the fan running on high.  The only way to break this cycle is to first pull the power cord from the back, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.  This time when I power up the computer it fires up just fine.
Is this a BIOS issue?  Please help as I don't have that much hair left.

  • Tower Locks up after Sleep Mode

I went on vacation for a week. While I was gone I had my Tower sleeping. When I got back and started it up, it woke then locked up. Ever since, every time I wake my computer from an overnight sleep, it either locks up OR it does something even weirder and the monitor gets all distorted (looks like what you'd get on an old tv when you are one channel away from reception.... you can see a piture but it's all distorted). I'm constantly having to restart it... which doesn't seem like a good thing to have to do all the time.
Anyone know what's going on here... and maybe how to fix it?

Probably not a good idea to leave it sleeping even if it is on a UPS, but that's in the past.
When you first "started it up" you mean powered on from off state, or attempted to wake it?
No, not a "good thing to have to do all the time" and it would be best to restore it from a backup image from before vacation.
If you haven't updated your backup, grab the essential files that you do need.
While at it, press the SMC Reset button, and run Apple Hardware Test.
Then boot from another hard drive with OS X and start deleting temp and cache files, disable journaling and extensions.mkext in System/Library.
And then start doing repairs with something more than Apple First Aid (gives a false sense of security when it doesn't test or check all possible conditions). ie, run TechTool (Deluxe/Pro) and Disk Warrior.
    As for monitor, video card???
Oh, and disconnect all external peripherals and cables.
When you restart, do a Safe Mode first. When you know your system is backed up and stable, or on a new install on another drive, install Applejack 1.5 and use that, it can repair permissions, disk, check for corrupt plist files, and delete those cache folders at /Library and System/Library (you don't need to touch your home folder).
Hopefully the SMC Reset knocks some sense in, and there wasn't a storm or anything that could affect or knock out electronics.

  • My ipad doesn't seem to make a sound when it is closed or in sleep mode to let me know there is an imessage until you see it on the screen that someone has imessaged.  When you're taking it makes the swoosh sound, just not when it's in sleep mode.  Help

Am having some problems with the sounds on my ipad, specifically my imessage notification sound when your ipad is in sleep mode and someone is messaging you.  It seems to work with the swoosh sounds when you are actively messaging back and forth, but as soon as I close my ipad up and is locked or in sleep mode, I don't know anyone is messaging me until I look at my ipad.  I've tried a few things.. But nothing has worked so far....Please help!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

  • HT3529 Message Notifications show up in lock mode when screen is on, but not showing on black screen (sleep mode).

My texts show up on my lock screen, but not on my black screen (sleep mode).  They used to, but not anymore.  I have "show messages in lock screen" turned on, but I don't see any options for sleep mode.  I have banners turned on.  All settings seem to be correct, but in order to see my messages I need to turn on my screen, which is frustrating b/c then I don't see messages when they are first sent.  Any advice?  Thanks.

Thanks for the response, but I've tried that and it doesn't work.  I have friends and family who have their settings exactly the same as mine (including banner) and they get notifications in their sleep screen.  It's all very odd.

  • HT201401 My phone won't lock or go into sleep mode when answering calls

My phone won't lock or go into sleep mode when making or receiving calls. Consequently I keep activating the mute or loud speaker buttons with my cheek. Can anyone help please??

That is a Proximity Sensor Problem, which is located above the earpiece speaker. Do you have a new screen protector or iPhone Case which could interfer with this?
    Reset iPhone, Restore iPhone.
If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

  • Mac Pro running OS x Lion 10.7.5 sometimes locks the network password while in sleep mode.

Mac Pro running OS x Lion 10.7.5 sometimes locks the network password while in sleep mode. We have tried resetting the password in AD and locally using keychain but the problem reoccurs. Any suggestions would be great.

Also I unlocked the user account at 9:10am and by 11:10am it locked again. The user was away from his desk in a meeting.

  • Locked out of machine after coming out of sleep mode (passwd not accepted)

info macbook (intel) 10.5.1 (was upgraded from Tiger)
    single user setup
after waking up machine or coming out of sleep mode (i.e lifting lid) occasionally cannot login at all, password is refused. Multiple failed attempts. Its not a problem of caps lock on.
Only solution is to force power down of machine and then OS comes back up, HOWEVER, without demanding a password after power up (hardly very secure), afterwards it may work OK for a few days (with a number of sleep cycles) before same login problem happens again.
    Is this a known problem?

Please do both of the following:
    1) Turn the computer off. Press and hold shift. Turn the computer on. Continue to hold shift until you see the spinning gear below the Apple logo. Once it is started up, log in. Does it do the same thing here? If it works, please know this is not a fix, just an isolation step.
    2) Test this in another user account on the computer. If you don't have one, create one in: Apple menu> System Preferences> Accounts. Click the lock in the lower left corner if it is locked and enter your password. Click the + just above the lock and type in "test" for all the fields it asks for. If you are on 10.4 or earlier, check off "Allow user to administer this computer". If you are on Leopard, make the account type an Administrator. Click "Create account". Click the Apple menu and select the last item ("Log Out" Account name). Log in as the test account and test. Note: You will have to set it to ask you for a password when waking from sleep (Apple> System Prefernces> Security> Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver)
Let me know the result of those tests. Please make sure to try both, as they will allow me to see what may be causing the issue.

  • Can sleep mode be enabled without locking?

Is it possible for my phone to go into sleep mode to conserve the battery (which I would like) without auto-locking. If there's another hidden 'screen saver' please let me know. I have disabled the passcode lock so I don't have to type in a code, but I still have to move the 'unlock' slider to access phone apps once it has gone into sleep mode. I am trying to minimize the amount of looking/touching/button-punching that I have to do while driving, but if I've been listening to a podcast for 15-30 mins, once it's done, I have to touch, slide, select, etc. One less step would be nice.

    Hello tnye,
If you have Siri enabled on your iPhone press and hold the home button until Siri dings and say "Launch Podcasts". It's one less step but there is no way to stop the iPhone from locking when it sleeps. Siri can do more them just launch apps, it can also play music and even send a message or place a call. To get a better idea of what Siri can do activate Siri as described above and tap the 'i' next to the text that reads "What can I help you with?"
    Hope that helps

  • Wireless/edge connection whilst in lock/sleep mode

I have a question about how the iphone connects to the network when locked/sleep - basically not when I'm using it. Whenever I'm at work or at home I use the wireless broadband to connect. But I've noticed that when I unlock my phone, I briefly see either the Edge or GPRS symbol, then it changes to a wireless.
So does anyone know how it would be connecting if I have my mail checking automatically. Would it be using edge or wireless?

The phone looks for wifi as the default connection, if none is present it switches to EDGE. I am unsure if this is the case for auto-checking, but I believe that when the phone is in sleep mode wifi is turned off to conserve batteries, which is why it briefly displays E on wakeup before returning to an available wifi connection.

  • HP 2509P Monitor is locked into sleep mode. I need help. Your support forum doesn't address it.

My monitior is going into constant / perpetual sleep mode after about 2 seconds of turning it on.  I need help.  Your owners manual, support forum, etc. does not speak to this.

    Hi,
Have you tested the monitor with any other PC or any other monitor with the PC to confirm whether the issue is with the monitor or the graphics chip of the PC. Please try with a different video cable also.
    Please post your observations.

  • Lion locks up after returning from sleep mode

If I have a program open when my machine goes to sleep, then when I log back in, i can move the mouse but nothing else works.  any ideas?

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2011) and Lion 10.7.2 installed (this is the latest update). My MBP shows exactly the same problem as Batman203's. After the sleep mode the screen appears and the mouse can be moved, but mouse clicks and keyboard do not work. I had to reboot my MBP several times. I got this problem after updating to 10.7.2. Is there a solution yet?
