DROID X ..NOT booting up after updates?

DROID X Stays on DROID after update and will not fully boot.
Things I've already tired. All of which did NOT work.
1. took out battery and tried to reboot
2. Took out battery and SD card
3. Took out battery, reboot and pressed home key
4. waited more than 30 minutes with battery out
5. plugged in to wall and left while DROID tried to reboot - stayed on DROID for hours.
Hmm. Any ideas???

You need to do a factory reset. Please read ALL INSTRUCTIONS before starting this procedure. This will reset your phone back to the way it came out of the box. But at this point, the phone is useless anyways, and it should bring it back into a working phone again.
1. With the phone powered off, hold down the home key, then press and hold the power button
2. When the Motorola M shows up, release the power button, but hold the home key until you see a triangle with Andy.
3. Release the home key. press volume up/down at the same time.
4. A menu will show up. Use the volume up/down keys to highlight Factory Reset
5. Press the power button to start the reset.
When the factory reset is done, the phone will reboot. You will have to go through the inital setup process again. If you get a screen asking to backup your settings, DO NOT BACK UP THE SETTINGS. This could back up whatever is corrupt and put you back into the same loop again.
Good luck

  • 10.4.9 update bricked my machine (not booting up after update)

I updated my macbook white to mac os x 10.4.9 and it is not starting up. If I start up with cmd+v I see that it stops after to mv messages saying that it was not possible to copy sudo and translate from /system/copyatstartup (or something, can´t remeber correctly now). I tried to start from the install dvd 1 but somehow it doesn´t work also ( I pressed C during startup inumerous times) I don´t even think it tried to do that. There is anyway I can unbrick my machine?
please help me, as it seems that I lost every file and my machine!

I usually take the following precautions when using MacOSX's "Software Update" to update software (other people's procedures may differ):
    0) Backup any "home" directory's contents, and, if possible, 3rd-party application's disk-images, along with the Preferences folder.
    1) Shutdown the Mac (this might be necessary for older machines, where the peripherals are not hot-pluggable).
    2) Disconnect all peripherals (except for the internet connection).
    3) Power the Mac back-on.
3-1/2) At this point you might want to apply any firmware-upgrades necessary (but be sure to use some sort of fully-charged-battery-power-supply), and re-start.
    4) When it comes-up, close all unnecessary programs, but make sure that the firewall is turned "on", and configured securely.
    5) Verify and/or Repair Permissions (using Disk Utility's First-Aid).
    6) Verify and/or Repair Disk (Verify Disk is more difficult in versions prior to Tiger's 10.4.3, and Repair Disk usually needs to be booted with an MacOSX-Install-CD-ROM, or an external drive, which one might not have).
    7) If Repair Disk found, and repaired anything, Verify and/or Repair Permissions again.
    8) Turn Anti-virus protections off (if applicable).
    9) Single-check, and highlight only one update-at-a-time using System Preference's Software Update, but DO NOT USE a "Delta" MacOSX update that may be offered, instead, go to Apple's website, and download the appropriate "Combo" MacOSX update for your type of CPU (but note that the "Combo" update may be unsuited to a dial-up line).
    10) Verify sufficient available disk-space on the machine, then click-upon the "Install 1 Item" button.
    11) Wait for the download to show completion.
    12) THIS COULD BE IMPORTANT! : Wait until disk-activity subsides.
    13) Restart the Mac, and wait up-to-10-minutes. If it is still stuck booting, try a "soft"-restart using Command-Control-Power keys, or the equivalent for your Mac. If possible, avoid a "hard"-restart using the Power key alone !
    14) When the Mac comes-back-up, repeat steps 9 through 14 until all updates are applied, then, when they are, instead of Restarting, select Shutdown.
    15) Plug all peripherals back-in.
    16) Power the Mac back-on.
    17) When the Mac comes-back-up, make sure Anti-virus protections are turned-back-on.
    18) Repeat steps 5 through 7.
    19) Done!

  • 10.8.2 will not boot up after update

I recently rebuilt my iMac since it seemed to be having various issues.  So after formatting and installing 10.8 I performed the Software update to 10.8.2.  After the reboot my machine since on the grey screen with the apple logo and spinning wheel.  After 10 minutes of this I rebooted the machine and had it go into safe mode.  It had no problems with it going into safe mode but when I rebooted again same issue.  I then rebooted with all peripherals disconnected, same issue.  I then reinstalled 10.8 and was able to get in.  Also it should be noted that this machine had 10.8.2 on it before I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled the OS.

  • Macbook will not boot up after running Software Update

My MacBook will not boot up after running Software Update (Security update + Java?) earlier today. I have only the gray start up screen + Apple logo + gear wheel constantly rotating. I have tried restarts several times and tried to start up from my original system DVD - this makes no difference.
I called Apple support, tried resetting the power and PRAM - still no difference. He had no knowledge of other problems reported; although I note recent post may have same issue.
I cannot get an appointment at my Apple Store before Monday.
    Any suggestions?

Still no success. When I hold down the option key when powering up I get the hard disk icon plus arrowhead (only). When clicking the arrowhead it goes to the gray screen + apple logo+ rotating gearwheel.
This happens both with DVD in slot and without DVD. the DVD image is not coming up on screen. When I start up without DVD the hard disk icon appears promptly. When I start with DVD in the DVD is spinning for a short period before the hard disk icon appears. On clicking the arrowhead to hard disk icon the DVD spins again for a while then stops. Apart from the DVD spinning, both situations result in gray screen + apple logo+ rotating gearwheel.

Ask google and try anyway but not work
    - Press ThinkVantage, Press F1, Press Fn+F1
    - Power off, unplug AC, unplug battery, wait 15 miniute, try all again
    - Try to update BIOS again

    That is really weird.
When you are in Windows, can you test and see if the F1 key is working? If it is working. Shut down the laptop then boot it back up. At the Thinkpad screen, keep spamming the F1 key and see if you are able to boot into BIOS.

has anyone's screen go blank and not boot up after installing the new yosemite OS

    Hi Mofimac,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Mac is only starting up to a blank gray or white screen after updating OS X, you can find some useful troubleshooting steps in this article:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
I recommend going through these first three sections first:
Disconnect, test peripheral devices and network cables
    Perform a Safe Boot
    Reset the NVRAM / PRAM

  • Problems booting up after update of xp pro

Was getting this problem with updating the 4 previous critical updates for
win xp before service pack 2 and now getting it again with sp2.
Here is the problem (before xp2) windows does not boot up after 24 hours of
installing previous 4 critical updates, seems to get stuck whilst loading in
the keyboard and cant load in mouse driver, hence no boot up.  However boots
in safe mode.  found that if i deleted keyboard and started up again normally
it booted. it would do this infrequently. sorted it by uninstalling 4 updates.  Cant remember the 'kb' number of the dates but 1 was for ie6, 1 was for BITS,1 was a general fix for xp and the last one was for v5 win update.
Now i find i have the same problems as well as slow loading times for xp to
boot up, sometimes as long as 2 minutes.  Bought a new keyboard in case old
one was ghoosed, fixed it sort of now it only does on every 2nd boots.  have
to manually restart machine and tell it to load windfows normally,   had to install the 4 previous  security updates mentioned in above paragraph before sp 2.  im guessing one  of these is interfering with keyboard in some way.  any help would be greatly apprciated.  Have updated motherboard drivers but not the bios.  Have since discovered it is the agp driver that seems not to be loading and gets stuck in an endless loop

The four updates where as follows:
    KB839645
    KB841873
    KB840315
    KB842773
One was an update for BITS, one was an ie6/outllook express update, one was xp security update and one was v5 update ( to replace v4).  Was getting the odd blue screen crash and slow load times but have fixed these, caused by services such as  BITS, Workstation etc running when not needed.
Yeah the 9800 pro is not sharing power with anything
The fix for it just now (when xp doesnt load)is to manually hit the reset button, boot into safe mode. shut down again and wait 20 seconds and reboot, if that doesnt work do it again boot in safe mode and delete keyboard restart and boots up.  though with old keyboard sometimes had to do this a few times.  thats why though my keyboard was faulty.
Am now begining to suspect mobo is faulty, which i really hope is not the case as that'll be another faulty MSI part within 6 months.

16 mo young Mac Pro will not turn on. Dead. Why. No problems ever! Installed Yosemite and did not boot up after. Did that kill it? To young to die. What happened?what do I do now??????? Help!

Note that you don't have a Mac Pro as stated. Your profile says you have a MacBook Pro. Please clarify as they are entirely different computers. If nothing below works for you, then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Cisco 7941G phones will not boot up after factory reset.

Cisco 7941G phones will not boot up after factory reset.
    The following happens.
    1. Speaker light lit (Green)
    2. Phone displays a firmware upgrade page (see attachment) for a few minutes. (Doesn't seems to be upgrading, but it "saids" upgrading)
    3. Saw Cisco logo with a Java Powered page.
    4. The whole thing loops again and again...
I think the reason why the phone isn't booting up is because the phone needs to know where to find the configuration/firmware files from a tftp server. I do have a TFTP server, but normally I need to go in settings to change the alternative tftp server, but the thing is that now I can't even press the settings button...
    Please help.

How many phones were reset and upgrading at one time? What is the setting of the TFTP Maximum Serving Count (Advanced TFTP Service Parm) on each of the TFTP servers?
Sounds like too many devices trying to use TFTP at once.

    Hi Mike
This is called a kernel panic, similar to s 'blue screen of death' on Windows. When you say you reinstalled 3 times, do you mean the OS or the Update?
When does this kernel panic appear? You may have a hardware issue if it's happening on boot.
