Droid X or Droid Incredible?? I'm aware of shipping date for DINC but....

Okay - so I went to my Verizon store almost 2 wks ago and spoke to the rep we had worked with in the past regarding getting rid of my BB Tour (worst BB ever IMHO!!!) and was told (quietly) to hold out until the new DX was released on 7/15.  When I got home, I checked out the DroidX and was completely enamoured with Droid and totally over Verizon even getting the iphone (gasp - esp now that I've seen how awesome android is and heard about all the problems w/ the iphone4) ~ but I also noticed the HTC Droid Incredible and seemed to like the screen and size.  So again, I went into my Verizon store to see if I could get my hands on both to see what I wanted to do.  I've been waiting VERY patiently w a crappy phone just waiting for something to come along that I'd be happy with.  I was really set to just go ahead and order my DINC but the rep I normally work with wasn't there and the mgr had referred me to another rep.  Very nice guy but really talked up the DX and I was really quite impressed.  The ONLY thing I HATE about the DX is the SIZE!!!  Now, I understand the screen itself is huge, but honestly I didn't fit into my pocket and sometimes I like to put it into my front pocket.  I also didn't like how square it was.  On the positive side thought, it is going to blow the iphone away.
So, I guess here's my dilemma (sorry it's taken so long to get here) ~ do I go ahead and order the DINC since the size is more along the lines of what I'd be comfortable with or just say forget about the size and just get the coolest phone on the market (not to mention Motorola makes pretty good sounding phones)???  Essentially, what are the differences between the two phones?  I know DX has the HDMI, while that is a cool feature, I am not concerned about that - the DINC has the cool amoled (sp?) screen, but that seems to be what's holding up the backlog of phones.  I was told that if I ordered the DINC it would take 4-5 wks.  Can someone give me any advice?  I have small hands and the DX feels like I've stepped back into the 80's with the brick cell phone.  I can't seem to find the differences between the two phones and maybe if someone could tell me that, I could make a decision... do I wake up early to wait in line on the 15th or not????  I don't want to get the DX and then not really like it a couple months later (like the BB Tour) ~ ( I am going to also post this in the DINC forum )
Thanks!!!

Thank you all for your help - I read everyone's comments this morning and decided to go to my Verizon store and order the incredible after all.  I made my hubby come with me because he usually gets my sloppy seconds when it comes to electronics (hehe) and he said that even with his big hands he couldn't see himself  using the DroidX, especially since he's not really a techogeek (he did admit that is was unbelievably fast and really cool!!!)    He had a hard time adjusting to the BB Tour cuz he felt it was too big!!!  It was funny when I was in the store placing my order, the sales rep I had spent over an hour with the other night said he thought I was going to come in to order the DINC and he whispered that it's a decent phone overall (afterall he IS a salesperson right? of course he would try to sell me the best and new phone).  The manager I was speaking to before the sales guy Chris I was working with kinda made me angry because he acted like I was foolish for wanting the DINC... I am hoping that all the people that have already ordered the DINC will cancel to get their hands on the DX and make mine come in quicker
The fact that the DX has 720 vid & HDMI are very cool features, but not a deciding factor for me.  One thing I couldn't compromise was size unfortunately size does matter in this case LOL!!!!
@E-Brock - The Tour I believe is not even being sold anymore, in my heart of hearts I wanted a touch screen phone and at the time BB only had the Storm and we are all well aware of the horrible reviews that phone got.  So a salesguy talked me into the Tour.  I have to say I do like the keyboard on it but really hated the track ball (I had a Pearl before that) - now they have the Curve or Bold with the touchpad type joystick, if I was going to do another BB that's what I would get (actually I'd get the violet curve - I am a chick afterall ) they seem to move very well and easy to navigate, the screens are nicer than the Tour as well.  My Tour I've had to hard reset numerous times and battery pull more than necessary.  I think BB's are nice phones and I've always had great reception, but my tour was very slow for the internet. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!!

In regards to going to Amazon or Best Buy (our Best Buy didn't have any either) to order, I've decided that I would hold out since I've been waiting for awhile anyway.  Besides, if something was wrong with the phone or I didn't like it after all, I could go back to my VZ store and pay a restocking fee and get a different phone a lot easier than returning it to amazon.
So like the rest of you that are waiting, I've joined your little cult... I'll be waiting patiently...  unfortunately size does matter in this case LOL!!!!

  • Screen Capture for Droid Incredible 2

I have been trying to figure out how to do the screen capture on my Droid Incredible 2. I accidently did it last night but I'm not sure what I pressed. Does anyone have any idea how to do it?

I didn't think the Dinc2 has a built in screenshot option. Some application might have included the function for their application. I know Weatherbug application has that feature.
The only other way to get screenshots that I am aware of is to install the ADB program on your computer and connect the phone to the computer create screenshot.

  • How to create unique notification sounds for email on Droid Incredible 4G LTE

I have three separate email accounts pushed to my Droid Incredible 4G LTE.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to set up unique notification sounds for each email account.  It was a snap to do on my old Blackberry.
Same question for flagging individuals within my contact list.  (E.g., if my wife calls it makes one sound, if a client calls it makes a different sound.)
Does anyone know how to do this, or, as they say, is there an app for that???
    Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can on the email but got to each contact and edit them for different sounds, I'm not sure if it works on that new phone that way but as they don't have a dedicated room yet for it you had nowhere else to ask htc has good forums also

  • Can't add Yahoo Mail to Droid Incredible

I am unable to add my Yahoo Email account to my new Droid Incredible, any suggestions?

The Yahoo Mail for Android App works great!!! You can find it in the Play Store Yes, it provides notification.  I no longer use the native email application on my Incredible.  Yahoo! Mail for Android provides much more functionality.  Using it, one can easily get to his folders to view and file emails in them which is a huge plus for it.

  • Incoming AOL emails on droid incredible

Beginning one week ago, I have been unable to receive any incoming aol emails to my droid incredible.
I can send emails with no problem, but no incoming emails appear. Sometimes I get a "login failed" or a "network error" message, sometimes I do not. My husband has the same phone and also uses aol on his phone. He has not encountered this problem, he can still receive aol emails to his phone. I have deleted the account from my phone and reinstall it several times. My account settings are the same as the settings that my husband uses on his phone.
I have had the phone since early October and this is the first time that I have had any type of problem. Email has been working great up to this point.
I also have a gmail account set-up on my phone and I have no problems with gmail.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

The best thing to do will be to go into the account menu and delete the account to make sure we set it up with the correct server information. The steps to delete the account are listed below:
    Menu
    My Accounts
    Menu
    Remove Account
    Choose the AOL Account
Once you have done this we can re-add the account with the manual setup. The steps to do this are below:
Locate and Select the Mail icon from your Applications Menu. You will see a place to enter your Username and Password.
After entering your full email and password, select Manual Setup. You should now be on the Incoming Server page.
Locate the drop down box at the top that typically displays "POP3" by default. Touch and change the selection to IMAP.
In the Incoming Server box, change the entry so that it displays "imap.aol.com". Nothing else should need editing; Select Next.
You are not on the Outgoing server page. Change the Outgoing server box so that the entry displays "smtp.aol.com". Nothing else should need editing; Select Next.
Assuming everything went through with success, you will now be prompted to choose display/account names for the email. If you are planning on setting up multiple emails, then label so that you can differentiate this one from the others.
Once you have done this it will begin to receive emails with 15 minutes.

  • Droid Incredible 4g lte global services not working in UK

Purchased global plan for travel in UK, got here, no service.  I contacted support and after nearly an hour with two different people, they've started a problem ticket.  I can get a list of network operators on GSM/  dual, but cannot connect.  I have tried GSM only as well.  It does not seem that I have the very latest software update, but when I check via WiFi for new updates, there aren't any.  Does anyone have any clues about how to get this thing to work?

The DROID Incredible 4G LTE should already be running either Android 4.0+ for its operations system. Which means you can disable many of the pre-installed applications. Go to settings > Apps > slide to the All view. Disable each application individually. You might have to uninstall any updates before the disable button is available.
The DROID Eris is only three years old. It was released in November 2009. 12 minus 9 equals 3.

  • Any Help or Response from Verizon or HTC Regarding Problematic Update For OG Droid Incredible??

    Dear Verizon,
Are you or HTC doing anything to resolve the problematic update that has effected most customers using the Original HTC Droid Incredible that was recently updated to 4.08.605.15? These problems include continual rebooting, freezing, and the necessity of repeated battery pulls in order to resume normal functioning. There have been a number of threads on the various problems, the following is just one of them.
    https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/775916
Can someone please respond to show us that that you are at least aware of the problem? And please no recommendations on factory resets as this has not solved a majority of the problems.  Thank you.

pre86 - this was the response i just recieved:
Luckily, HTC has sent out a technical bulletin regarding this particular
issue. They're aware that the update will cause their devices to reboot quite a
few times, and they've said that it was actually something they had planned.
They've informed us that you'll experience this issue with the reboot for one
day but no more than two days maximum. I'm sorry because I know that it's not
what you were wanting to hear, but HTC is guarantying that you shouldn't have
this issue two days after the system update. No need to worry, it's not a phone
issue and your devices don't need to be replaced.
We'll see if this holds true......

  • Free Droid Incredible phone deals available elsewhere!

I'm ticked! I upgrade our phones from the Blackberry to the Droid Incredible at a cost of $250($500-$250rebates). Today, I get an email from Dell stating that I can get two free Droid Incredibles with an upgrade and two year contract. So, I google Verizon phone offers and find several other sites that make similar offers. Before I go down and raise some cane @ the local Verizon store, can anyone tell me if I'm waisting my time in trying to get my money back? Yes, I know, some sites state that the offer is only available for new subscribers. Why should I be punished for being a loyal 20 year customer?
    Thanks

I got this offer from Dell also...reading some of the fine print:
This offer is fulfilled by Simplexity, an authorized dealer for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless. This offer requires activation with selected AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon Wireless service plans. Verizon Wireless offers are for new accounts only. Offer subject to eligibility check by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless, including credit approval or deposit for new customers. Offer applies to primary and second lines only. Discount will be invalid if the rate plan is changed to a lower monthly service rate, or if this equipment is transferred to another line of service. Additional restrictions apply. See terms and conditions for details. Not all U.S. markets are served by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon Wireless. Limited Time Offer. See Offer Details.
Note the bolded lines - Although it states new line of service OR UPGRADE on the ad, the find print says NEW ACCOUNTS ONLY - so I'm not sure what really applies.  And as others have said, you can't make changes to your plan or move the phone to another line, along with other fine print not specificed here.
It may very well be terms you can live with - if so, make the deal!  Just be aware of all the restrictions and requirements and then decide if it is the deal for you.

  • Droid Incredible 4G LTE - Ridiculous bloatware killing phone (Staff response requested)

Before you even read all of it, please tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, and where I need to go to get an answer to this.
My question is: Why can't I uninstall default apps I don't want?
I was given a Droid Incredible 4G LTE for Christmas to replace my 4 year old Droid Eris, and while I really really like this phone, its battery life is an issue. So my first thought is, "keep the brightness down, install a task killer and see if that helps." Hardly. My battery life has gone from 6 to around 8 hours of minimal use, so I've done some more digging around. Looking around the advanced task killer app on my incredible 4g LTE, I am appalled at how many forced applications and services are on this phone, AND how they start up randomly and cannot be stopped. I have multiple examples prepared after only owning this phone for three days.
First off, what in the world is the deal with this forced bloatware? NFL Mobile, Amazon Kindle, TuneIn and Slacker radio, Amazon MP3, Verizon Tones, Google+, etc. These apps cannot be uninstalled, and many of them open automatically upon startup and slow the phone/eat battery life. Ex: slacker radio, google+, Amazon MP3 opens whenever I open my music. I can't even disable them without having to root my phone and use an app freezer, and I can't even do that because Verizon refuses to release an HTCDev unlocker for the 4G LTE. (but I can sort of understand that for people taking advantage of the 4g capability)
Why in the world would anyone think that this was a good idea?
I fully read the terms and conditions of my contract to ensure that this wasn't included, and after nearly an hour, Verizon does not reserve any right to manage a user's personal applications against their will, only the phone's operating system. I don't want NFL Mobile, Amazon Kindle, TuneIn and Slacker radio, Amazon MP3, Verizon Tones or Google+, and I have no way to uninstall or disable them. That is RIDICULOUS. I even have an option to defer from software/firmware updates, the fact that I can't remove these unwanted applications is insulting.
    Also, some other examples:
4 instances of Google Maps open at once for no apparent reason. I don't have anything (weather widget, clock, weather lock screen) that warrants google maps or location services needing to open. What in the world is going on there?
My bluetooth service cannot be force stopped.
My Notes (two instances of this app open) and Calender applications open randomly; although I intend to keep and use these apps, this is very annoying.
Facebook opens randomly for no apparent reason.

The DROID Incredible 4G LTE should already be running either Android 4.0+ for its operations system. Which means you can disable many of the pre-installed applications. Go to settings > Apps > slide to the All view. Disable each application individually. You might have to uninstall any updates before the disable button is available.

  • Firefox constantly crashes on my htc droid incredible

i have an HTC Droid Incredible and have been using firefox for a while. all of a sudden, when i try to use firefox on my phone, it opens for a few seconds then the screen turns white then takes me to a page that says FireFox has crashed and allows me to restart or close the program. Regardless of closing or restarting, the it always crashes. I've unistalled and reinstalled FireFox to see if that would fix it but it doesn't. My other internet browser works fine. Does anyone have any advise on how to fix this?

    Have you rebooted the phone?

  • How can I get music I purchased though Amazon on my Android device(droid incredible) to my IPad 2 without using a computer?

I just got an iPad 2 a couple months ago, and I'm very eager to get my music collection purchased from Amazon to my device. I have had to get a replacement droid incredible and lost my login information for both my email and my amazon account. I have the music files stored on the SD card on my phone. I have the basic iPad 2, 16 GB, wifi, no 3G. I got an iPad to essentially replace my computer since it can't hold a charge anymore. I am almost due for an update with Verizon, so I would like to get an IPhone. However if I can't transfer my 100s of dollars worth of music, I'll have to suck it up and stick with android and be unable to have more than the 3 songs I have on my iPad.
If any one can help It would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds as if you have a computer but it won't hold a charge. Does it not work if it's plugged in at home? If so, you can simply transfer the music to your computer at home. You can either do this by connecting your Incredible to the computer and dragging the music from the SD card to iTunes or, you can contact Amazon and get your password reset and just download the music.

  • When I plug my Droid Incredible 2 into a car charger the phone is now permanently in"Car Mode" and won't get out. I heard that Droid will fix this, but it hasn't happened.  Does anyone know how to fix i

I have a Droid Incredible 2 phone.  I bought  car charger and ever since I have used it, the phone thinks it is in "car mode" even when the phone is in my home, my purse,...I sets to speaker and I can not hear the phone ring.  It freezes on "car mode".  I heard that Droid is supposed to be fixing the problem, but nothing has happened yet.  Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone at Verizon know when/if this will be fixed.  If not, I expect a new phone from Verizon.

there are two ways, usually if u restart the phone it will reset, but the other is going to your system and shut it off manually...

  • Droid Incredible 2 won't turn on or charge.

I have had this problem before, right after I got the DINC2. Yesterday, I wanted to take out my memory card to save pictures on my computer via a usb card reader. I turned my phone off by pressing the power button and selecting power off. I removed my battery, and then removed the memory card. After transferring my pictures, I placed the memory card back in the DINC2, and placed the battery and cover back on the device. I pushed the power button, and NOTHING. The phone won't turn on. I plugged it in to the charger, and the amber light won't even come on. I thought it might be the charger, so I used the USB cord attached to the computer, and still no charging light. I have removed the battery overnight, and just let it set. When I reinstalled the battery this morning, still nothing. The charging light does not come on, and I can't power up the device.
I had this problem before. I had let the battery run down to nothing and the device powered itself off. Same scenario, the charge light would not come on when plugged into the charger, and I couldn't power up the device. I left the battery out overnight, and the next morning the device still wouldn't power on. I placed the phone in my car, and plugged in my car charger. After a few minutes, the amber light came on, and I was able to power up the device. This, however, did not work this time. Nothing I try helps.
Is this a common problem? How should I go about getting this resolved?
      Thanks,
      Brian

    Hi Brian,
It must be frustrating not being able to power your phone on. I checked my resources and this is not noted as a known issue with the Droid Incredible 2. Since you are not able to power on the phone, there is nothing we can troubleshoot by phone. I recommend to bring your device to a Verizon Wireless store for a hands on evaluation. You can find a Verizon Wireless store near you by entering your ZIP code at vzw.com/storelocator online.
