Droid X - Problem using 3G Mobile Hotspot

About half the time I use my Droid X 3G Mobile Hotspot feature it drops from a 3G signal to a 1X signal. I will have about 3 bars of 3G signal, I will turn the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature on and the signal will drop to a 1X signal. If I turn the feature off, it will return to a 3G signal. Does anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I have seen a few reference to the number of 3G bars they have, are you by chance referring to the signal strength bars, because if you are combining these two I hope you relieve the bars meter represent the phones signal strength not the 3G strength.. The phone has more than one radio signal, the phone and data signal are not transmitted from the same signal so just because the phone is receiving a good does not mean the 3G data signal is as strong... The only indicator you have to indicate your data connection is the 3G and 1X indicator on the top status bar.
Try moving device and see if the phone returns to 3G mode because I haven't noticed this issue but I have noticed the drop of a signal strength of phone when a data connection is active. Never nothing major but it does drop until data connection is disconnected. Sounds like a software bug.

Did you have an unlimtited data plan before you purchased your Pixi? Verizon told me two different times today that the free hotspot was no longer available unless you had an unlimited data plan BEFORE the July price change.

Problems using Skype mobile

I get an error message when I try to use my Skype mobile app. It says Skyoe mobile can only be used on Verizon Wireless in the US...to learn about using Skype mobile to make free or low cost calls from the US visit www.verizonwireless.com/skypemobile ...ok. First of all I am trying to make my call from the US...this app used to work...I am a former Alltel customer , I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with a Verizon tech who could not help me and an hour with the Verizon outlet by my house...is anyone else having this problem? Please help!

First off, are you on a Verizon or an Alltel plan? With that what PRL is your phone using?
I wonder if you were connecting to a former Alltel tower that somehow still thinks it an Alltel tower or your phone thought it was an Alltel tower. Either way the Skype app could have not gotten the right message or code that "Yes, you are on Verizon. Please continue connecting". BTW There is no basis to this thought just past experience with issues with merged areas.
If anything , I hope this give you some ideas.

Galaxy s4 use as mobile hotspot...?

I may have poor vision, but I can't see a search link on this forum.I am trying to configure the s4 for mobil hotspot. I created a password as requested. I got an error message to the effect that I need a subscription to Verizon mobil hotspot or some such. I was under the impression that I could just use this as a hotspot.

The Search bar is on the home page of the community forum and the top right corner of the site.
Which data plan do you have? Nationwide Plan with unlimited data? Nationwide Plan with tiered data? Share Everything Plan?

Problem using Win Mobile 2005

Hello,
Our customer is using 2 different devices one is having Win Mobile 2006 as the OS and the other is having Win Mobile 2005 as the OS. The SAP screen are perfectly viewable in the device having Win Mobile 2006 OS. The the problem faced in the other device (with Win Mobile 2005) is that the webpage is a blank blue screen.

I'm replying assuming that you are using SAP NETWEAVER MOBILE.
Refer to note 1057759 for the delivered Drivers for Peripherals and devices supported in SAP DOE. This lists all the supported barcode scanners for SAP Netweaver Mobile. Those derivers are certified after testing to work only with that device and OS configuration.
For 7.0, refer Note 761833 for supported drivers and devices.

Can i use my mobile hotspot modem

I just bought a Airport Extreme. I DO NOT have DSL or Cable modem yet. Can I hook up my Tmobile Wifi Hotspot as my internet source to the Airpport extreme?

The AirPort Extreme requires a wired Ethernet Internet connection at its WAN "O" port in order to function as a router. If your modem has an Ethernet port, then it is likely that it could be used with the AirPort Extreme.

Problems with T-Mobile Hotspots?

I am having trouble with Mail at some T-M hotspots. After logging in I can successfully search the Web. But when I launch mail it just spins and cannot send or receive mail (POP and IMAP, secure and not). Without changing anything when I start my VPN I can get and send mail from all of my accounts.
I believe the problem is at T-M since it is intermittent and differs at different of their sites. But I could be wrong.
Has anyone else had this problem or do you have any feedback and suggestions?

I had this problem recently in a hotel. If you enter the debug menu and select MSIE 6.0 for Windows as the user agent it works fine. I only have Safari and Firefox installed and neither would let me access the hotspot page.
To get the DeBug Menu in Safari:
Open HD->Applications->Terminal; at the cursor, a gray block, type the following:
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

Problems using LG Vortex hotspot with secure sites

I recently upgraded my phone to a LG Vortex so that we can use the hotspot to access the internet from our laptops. We live in the country and this is our only hope for wifi. It works pretty good, however, we can't sign in to email or other secure internet sites. Anytime we try, a page advertising a data plan comes up.
Does anyone have any experience with this or know how to fix it?

IPhone4 used as mobile hotspot for iPad2

This option (at $20/mo for 2gb) seems the most economical but what are the downsides?
Can I still use the phone at the same time for incoming/outgoing calls?
Can I turn off the "hotspot" button to conserve useage?
Would it be better to just get a monthly data plan for the iPad alone (@ $20/mo for 1gb or $35 for 3gb)?
If I do use it as a hotspot, should I then get just the WiFi version of the iPad2?

You cannot use the phone for calls while you are using the hotspot for data. That's a limitation of CDMA. Calls will take priority over data. I have read, but can't personally confirm, that data use on the phone while the hotspot is in use counts against the 2GB. If you plan to always have your phone with you when you want 3G data on the iPad, then you can save money by buying the WiFi version and using the hotspot. If the devices will be separated, for example use by a family member, then you may want the 3G model. You need to think about how and where you are going to use the iPad to make the best decision.

I started a download of a Movie to rent on my iPad using a mobile hotspot. The HD version is taking longer to load than I have time. Can I stop the download to the iPad and rather downdoad a standard version to my Windows Vista machine?

How can I stop a download of a Movie for rent in HD to my iPad? There isn't enough time to download it. I shall have to download to my PC and probably the standard version and then sync the iPad.

I think your best bet here is to contact the app developer. Sounds like you need advanced troubleshooting that someone who is a part of the app would know best how to resolve. Best of luck.

IP Address Conflict Using Mobile Hotspot On Iphone 5

Hello,
I just got my new Iphone 5 and I love it, apart from one little problem. Now when I connect it to my laptop using the mobile hotspot (either via usb or wireless) I am constantly getting a network error popup stating that there is an ip address conflict.
Hardware info:
Iphone 5 16gb
Asus G74S Laptop with Windows 7 64bit
Error info:
The error popup is in the form of a small window titled Network Error. It states "Windows has detected an IP address conflict" "Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer... blah blah blah"
The windows system event viewer has the following log:
Source is Tcpip
The system detected an address conflict for IP address :: with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.
The event ID is 4199
Done so far:
Already did every single troubleshooting step in regards to ip address conflicts, ipconfig /release and /renew, flush dns etc. I even did an entire system restore on my laptop back to factory settings. Installed a fresh Itunes 10.7 64bit and reconnected my new Iphone 5 and am still getting this message. I never had this problem with my Iphone 4.
Called Apple tech support, they ran me through all the steps relating to the phone itself, reseting network settings, resetting factory settings, removing and re-inserting the sim card, you name it.
Disabled IPv6 in the registry and reboot, still the same popup occurs.
Tried to assign a static IP address to Ipv4, still the same popup
Any ideas?

Still having the same issue....Is there another thread in which this is resolved? Iphone 5, IOS 6. It's just the phone tethered to a laptop (have tried with two laptops, both get the ip address conflict error, so the problem resides in the phone). No other devices are on the network. Was this ever addressed?
We use the iphone 5 as a mobile hotspot for our business, which is completely internet/skype based, and we need to be mobile. Mifi keeps kicking off the connection, so they are not an option. Thank you.

I've purchased a At&T HTC M8 at best buy USA and unlocked it from At&T . Now I am in india using a differnt network and unable to use the Mobile Hotspot and USB tethering .. Any idea ?

The hot spot is a carrier feature. Since you are not in ATT it isn't working.
Contact your carrier to see if it can be activated.

Mobile Hotspot not working after upgrading to 4.4.2

My husband and I have identical Motorola phones. He let his upgrade to Android 4.4.2 over a month ago. Since then, his Mobile Hotspot cannot be used to connect to our home PC. If you use your mobile hotspot, DO NOT LET IT UPGRADE!!!!!!!!
Three visits to local Verizon store, more than 50 power-off's (many of them soft boots), a long phone call to Verizon support. Still not working. Except once two weeks ago for several hours, then failed again. About a week ago,our HP laptop started connecting to the Hotspot, but the desktop cannot. My hotspot (which is fortunately still running 4.1.2) provides internet access just fine. Strange new symptom last week: once the laptop has connected to the 4.4.2 Hotspot, the desktop can as well. Sigh. Verizon offered to replace his phone under warranty, but the new one is expected to arrive with the latest version. I am not optimistic about that. Others must be having the same problem. Perhaps not as desperate as us because it is our only internet service at our rural home. We are still paying full price for our plan, but do not have the service. And, we have spent literally a hundred hours trying to debug this. Come on, Verizon, this needs to be fixed!
