Droid X spontaneous dialing?

At 2:07 am I was awakened by the speaker on my charging-overnight Droidx; someone's answering machine was announcing itself and then waiting for talking.  Hmmm.  I popped out of bed and grabbed it, sure enough it was in the midst of a call.  I "ended" it.
At 9:45pm or so I'd put the DroidX on my AC charger, dimmed/suspended it, placed it face down.  As I always do.  But somehow, it "decided" to place a call, on it's own, at 2:07 am to a number I've never called (but was in my contacts list).
Spooky.
I did a search hereabouts for "spontaneous dial" but found no hits.
Is this a known issue and I'm not using correct keywords?  Anyone else seen this happen?  I'm new to Droid-platform stuff, fairly PDA-aware from other devices, but this is a new one to me.  I don't have any "dial re-try" software or similar; what else would try to attempt calls on its own?  The phone # was an old one, belonging to a human in my contact list.

I remember reading about a app that will auto dial a number when a meeting or reminder was schelduled, but for the life of me I cant remember what application did this. I didnt show much intrest in this app because I thought this was a strange feature to even want..

  • Droid 3 voice dialing issues with bluetooth

I just received my Motorola Droid 3 on Monday.  I'm having issues using voice dialing with my Samsung WEP590 bluetooth headset.  No trouble activating the voice dialing on the phone but it never dials the correct name.  I did the voice training on the phone but it didn't help.  Yes, English is my native language.   Saying "call home" made the phone ask if I wanted to "email" someone.  Very frustrating since I travel for my job and voice dialing over bluetooth is essential.
I tried to do voice dialing without bluetooth and had the same issue.  Is anyone else having this issue?  Is there a third party app I can use?
    thanks for any help.

    Good Afternoon, dtownfb!
I researched bluetooth information about the device and the headset. I found no related concerns from other users. It would appear to be a hardware related issue on either the phone or headset. Have you been able to use another bluetooth with the device successfully? Have you tried the bluetooth paired with another phone and used the voice dialing feature successfully? We can eliminate the issue by asking these two questions. The problem lies in where we can duplicate the problem.
Please advise your findings. If it is deemed an issue with your Droid 3, please feel free to PM me so I can assist further with options to correct the issue.
Thank you and have a great day!

  • Droid 4 speed dial

How do I delete a speed dial number on a Droid 4

    Stumper2,
Good morning! To delete a speed dial number on a Droid 4, simply tap the green 'phone' icon like you're making a call, then hit the 'Menu' key and select 'Speed Dial Setup'. This will show you all existing speed dials. To remove, just tap the red 'minus symbol next to the contact you wish to remove. If you want to add a new contact, just tap 'Add Speed Dial' and select the appropriate person from your contact list.
I hope that helps your experience!
    Thanks

  • Droid 2 Global Dialer Issues

I just recently recieved my Droid 2 Global... at first things were working fine. Then my dialer stopped working.
When you touch the button to open it, a blank screen will pop up, and then it will go back to the home screen.
    How can I fix this?!

    vvmb,
Sorry you are having problems with accessing the dialer on your phone!  I would be happy to assist!
This happens, usually, when there are too many applications running in the background.  This would cause the applications to use up the devices RAM memory, resulting in pre-installed apps like the phone dialer not to work at times.  I would first try "stopping any running applications" in the Applications Settings menu.  Then I would "reset applications" that may be conflicting with the dialer.  I would reset the "Dialer" application as well.  As a last resort, you can perform a "Hard Reset" of your device to clean the device's onboard memory.  This will not erase any data that is stored on your SD Memory Card, however, you want to ensure your data is backed up prior to performing the reset.  Make sure you know your Google/Gmail login credentials, and if you use Backup Assistant, your Backup Assistant PIN.
Please post your results here to ensure other users experiencing the same issue can find a resolution.

  • Droid's "Direct Dial Feature" not working properly....

When I try to add a direct dial to my phone's home screen or on the dock (I use Launcher Pro Plus), it brings up a list of contacts, but it doesn't show all my contacts.  For example, I can add my phone's voicemail, my house, parents' house, wife's cell, etc.  But it doesn't show my father's cell phone # (they are all in my contacts list).
    Anyone else have this problem/solutions?

hi cheryl - your first link works great for me on mac/firefox, pc/firefox and pc/ie6 - that's the one i would use:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=250430714
the fact that it doesn't work on your system might have something to do with the settings you chose when you installed itunes - when you click the link it is supposed to open itunes, but if itunes can't be located i believe a browser page / window should appear telling you itunes could not be found with an option to launch the application manually.
    Cheers,

  • Droid x2 phone dial pad does not respond to touch on call

When on a call and asked to input numbers even to get to voicemail phone freezes and will not accept certain numbers like 1 (but it may take an 8) or screen goes black or both. Cannot get my voicemail from this phone. Can call in to my cellphone number from another phone and stop message and then get the vm, but from the droid x2 cellphone it is impossible. Obviously very unsatisfractory. Anyone got a fix?

As Ann pointed out, you are running GingerBread - the latest update. You don't remember clicking on "ALLOW UPDATE" and the process of installing it?
Anyway, so you've had this problem since DAY 1 of getting the phone?????  Too bad you didn't take it back immediately as they would have probably given you another phone .. but now you're pretty stuck with troubleshooting it or getting it swapped with a CPO.   If you contact verizon, they will like have you try booting in SAFE MODE 1st, just to rule out 3rd party APPs causing the issue. Then a Factory Reset.
Click this for SAFE MODE  http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34184

  • Droid Eris phone dialing slow response -- solved

Recently, since the 2.1 update my Eris became un-usably slow to respond when I hit the "Call" button, literally about 10sec.
I searched the forums for a solution to this and noticed that it's a rather pervasive issue.
Then, noticed that after I hit the "Advanced Task Killer" app. and kill the selected app that the dialing response returns to normal.

Hit the "Advanced Task Killer" app. and kill the selected app then the dialing response returns to normal.

  • Speed dial save issues

Doe anyone know about a fix for the Droid Eris speed dial issue. After the software update, I was re entering my speed dial contacts but info wont save. I can select a number and a slot thats marked available but when I hit save it doesnt.

I also had this problem and it seems that by doing a factory data reset (once the upgrade is installed), they work again.   I also contacted my local Verizon store and they didn't even realize it was a problem.
Just make sure you back everything up with your preferred method and then after the factory reset, re-sync your phone.
Hopefully this will also solve your problem.
Maybe I'm dumb, I've done a bit with my Droid Eris, but I have no clue how to back up the phone (especially my apps, god forbid I would have to re-download all of those) I'm sure my phone could use a hard reset, I seem to have a problem that my phone randomly turns its sounds off, i.e.. no sound when phone rings, can't hear peoples voice and vice-versa. The only way I've been able to solve that problem as of yet is just to power off and back on again.
My phone needs the help of Jesus himself! Or just someone who knows what their doing a little better than myself.

  • Wont dial out

My droid will not dial out. I get a message like this "your call cannot be completed as dialed".. I know I'm dialing correctly.
I've taken the battery out and dialed #228 to program.. nothing has worked. Any idea?

Can it call other numbers and just not a specific number?  If it's just 1 number I would suggest trying to call that number from another phone to see if it works.  If it can't call any numbers make sure you have signal and are not in airplane mode.

  • Apps open on it's own

I recently had my screen repaired and I have also downloaded the 7.1.1 software update. Now, my apps open spontaneously; dials numbers; and doesn't allow me to type text easily.

Take the device back to whomever "repaired" the screen to have it properly corrected.
    OR
Take the device to a competent repair facility to have it repaired, if possible.
    OR
Replace the device.  Apple will not touch it after others have opened the device.

  • No contacts listed in Voice Dial- Droid Pro

About half the time that I try to use my Voice Dialing on my Droid Pro the phone displays the message 'No valid names in contact list'. This seems to happen for no reason. It might work fine for a couple days and then stop working. There are over 200 names in my contact list. Is there a cause and solution?

Got this from someone quite helpful on another forum and it helped me.  Hopefully it will help anyone else out there as well.
If you've updated your Pro with the OTA update that came out a couple of weeks ago that should have also included an update/improvements to the Voice Commands app. If you haven't already done so, on the main menu of your phone go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates and allow the OS update...
First thing I noticed was that the Voice Commands app icon changed after installing the Pro OS update....since the update I have not had any problems with the VC app...prior to that the app would work fine for a while then it said it could not recognize any of the commands I was saying...
Hopefully the update will solve the "valid contacts" issue that you and others have experienced...

  • Speed dialing by letter on Droid 4

I bought a Droid 4 when my Palm Centro died. One of the features I liked was the ability to assign a letter for speed dialing. A letter is much more easily remembered than a number. Is it possible to assign a letter for speed dialing on the Droid 4?

    Jennifer,
I appreciate your prompt reply re: Direct Dialing feature.   I think this feature is a good one for those that chose it.  However, I am extremely unhappy that the "speed dialing" feature (press and hold a number button) has been arbitrarily removed from Jelly Bean.  Opening the folder of Direct Dial icons may be faster in some cases, when dialing only amongst a  group of friends, rather than opening the dialer and dialing for business use or for dialing friends by holding a button, although I cannot see how.  It certainly lacks consistency with prior Android interfaces and without other phone and other user interfaces.  This was a bad decision and I hope Verizon can be an advocate for the return of true speed dialing in the next Android release.
    Regards,

  • Droid X2 Dialing Problems?

When my DX2 has been at rest, or when I reboot my phone, I can maybe make one phone call.  After that when I try to either dial a number or select from my contacts it takes on average 30 seconds to a minute to dial the number (in that span of time I have probably hit the dial button seven to ten times because I am frustrated . . . much like the Power Point scenario when you slides are not advancing and when the computer finally catches up you get the 20+ slides advancing ; - )  ).  My question is this . . . what is causing this and what can I do to get this revolutionary funtion called (wait for it) making a call, back?  I thought it might have something to do with the number of apps a person has, or what they have running on their phone, e.g. Skpe, Weather Apps that run all the time, etc.  I consider this a high priority problem and would think there is solution.  As an aside, this is the very reason why I complained to Verizon when I had my HTC Droid Eris.  It too, was having the exact same issue with not dialig the call immediately.  So, I do not believe it is a Motorola problem.  So, the question still stands, what can I do to be able to make phone calls?

Hi there loleee71. I am sure that can be quite frustrating to have this issue. Did this problem just start? A hard reset may fix this issue. First, back up your contacts either using the Backup Assistant or by using Google contacts. Usually they backup automatically to Google if sync is checked. You can check if the contacts are backed up by logging on www.google.com/contacts . Pictures are saved on SD card. After ensuring your items are backed up, perform the hard reset. Here is how: http://bit.ly/oV4Meh .
Let us know if the issue persists after the reset.
    Thank you,
    Lena A.

  • Droid X reboots spontaneously, camera issues, etc

For about the last month or so, I have major issues with my Droid X, which I have had since May. My camera will freeze while taking pictures or opening the app, my phone will spontaneously reboot during phone calls, web browsing, or listening to music. I've had more dropped calls within the last month than my entire 5 years with Verizon.
The phone is not rooted and I have Lookout Mobile for my virus protection. It was updated to the official Gingerbread. I am at my wits end with this phone. Any suggestions?
P.S. I received this phone as a replacement for my Droid Incredible from the insurance company. It's always had problems, but nothing like recently, I am just not a big complainer.

Not saying this is the source of your problems at all, but you don't need Lookout Mobile. Virus scanners and apps of that sort do nothing, and only cause excessive battery drain and, at times, problems.
Now on to your phone issues. How many apps do you have on it? Have you ever gone in to see which apps run the most, and try force closing them if you're not using them? That might help - sometimes there's just too much stuff going on at once and it bogs the phone down.
Have you noticed that you've had worse reception with the X than you did with the Incredible? That's really the only thing I can think of that would account for dropped calls. It could also be on the other person's end as well.

  • I cannot make call from voice comands or fast dialing while my Lexus is moving, without first unlocking the Iphone4S. Did not happen with previous Droid

I used before a Droid with my car (Lexus) to make call with Hands-Free system without the need to unlock the phone. It worked OK ,with the car parked or running.
I have now a IPhone4S and if I want to make a call while driving, I need to unlock first the IPhone or stop the car, for the the call to go througth.
If I unlock the IPhone and keep it unlocked all the time ,no problems, but unfortunally the battery died sooner than I wanted in long travels.
Any way to way to keep it locked and still works, like it did with the Droid?

Sorry your experience wasn't a plesant one, but most of the issues they work on are hardware in nature, not software.. I'm not taking up for Apple... I'd had my share of run-ins with them as well.
As for your iTunes issue... an EASY solution is to simply tell iTunes that the location you want your tunes stored in is your Public folder. Items in your public folder can be seen and opened by others, so your wife could easily access the files there.
For you, go to your Music folder, find the iTunes folder, and drag it to your public folder.
Next, go to iTuness>Preferences and click on the Advanced tab, then the General Tab, and the first window you see is the iTunes Music Folder Locataion. Click Change, then navigate to the iTunes folder in you Public folder.
Now, next time you purchase a song from the iTunes store, or import songs from a CD, they will be stored in the iTunes folder, in your public folder.
You wife does basically the same thing except she navigates to YOUR public folder, and the iTunes folder inside.
She will have to manually find and import any new songs you add but at least your entire library will be available for her to listen to.
There are other ways of getting the same thing done, but I think this is the easiest.
