Drop-Down Menu in a Component Page

I'm creating a website in GoLive, using a component page for the menu, which will appear on every page. There will be at least 50 pages. So when the menu needs editing, making changes to each page separately is not an option. Creating and customizing the menu in the component page is easy enough. I am using a found javascript to create drop-downs as well.
The problem I'm having is when using the menu as a GoLive component. When I edit the component, save and go back to the index page, the menu acts strangely and duplicates itself, putting an extra one at the bottom of the page. I don't know why it's doing this, and the problem is very frustrating. Is the component menu too complicated? Are there too many nested div's and GoLive is getting confused? I have done this successfully many times before, but never with javascript drop down's. Could that be causing my error?
Please let me know if you've had any similar problems. I really need help with this issue. Thanks!

Can you post a link to an example page where the menu is duplicated? Also, what version of GoLive are you using? The first thing that comes to mind is that the ID that the script relies on is being changed by GoLive to make it unique for each Component... why that results in it being duplicated I don't know yet, unless the script doesn't find what it's looking for, and then generates it automatically.

  • Spry drop down menu not working after page created from template

    Hi all.
    I created a template and the drop down Spry menu is working fine on local testing on my browser as follows:
    I then created a New Page from this above Template. I did no alteration to this new page and just saved it as index.html but when previewing it in the browser, the Spry drop down menu is not working and the page displays as follows:
    Here is my site map:
    Any help to show where I am going wrong would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Dear Nancy
    Very grateful for your reply.
    On Design View and Preview in browsers the index.dwt page spry works fine.
    When I create a child page from this template page, the child page looks fine in design view but does the spry fails to preview in browsers (the spry just shows as words and not drop down menus).

    Actually what I posted came after searching for an easy
    "how to do it". The closest I found to a tutorial was this:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/spryte_menu.html
    The author designs and implements a spry menu with Fire Works
    graphics. The last section describes how to modify the existing CSS
    for multiple levels. Yet I found the sample page provided above,
    easier to follow than the tutorial.
    I'm sorry if you feel my post was not

  • Display normal text instead of drop down menu

    I have two tables. One is the customer particular, which has RaceID(int) as one of the field. The other
    table is Race, which has RaceID(int) and Race(char). Both of these tables are linked together.
    I have the following code generated from Ultradev when I am using Dynamic Elements Server Behavior.
    I will gonna do a search page, which list the value of Race of customer in normal text for each staff,
    not the drop down menu(but during insert page, I am using drop down menu to enter the data). How to
    do that?
    Codes:(This code will generate a drop down menu which compare the value in the customer particular and
    the race tables. If selected, display that one with the drop down menu.
    <select name="race">
    <%
    while (Race_hasData) {
    %>
    <option value="<%=((Race.getObject("raceID")!=null)?Race.getObject("raceID"):"")%>" <%=(((Race.getObject("raceID")).toString().equals(((((Matching_data
    = Matching.getObject("raceID"))==null || Matching.wasNull())?"":Matching_data)).toString()))?"SELECTED":"")%>
    <%=((Race.getObject("race")!=null)?Race.getObject("race"):"")%></option><%
    Race_hasData = Race.next();
    Race.close();
    Race = StatementRace.executeQuery();
    Race_hasData = Race.next();
    Race_isEmpty = !Race_hasData;
    %>
    </select>

    don't use <select>, use <input type = "text"> instead and you will get text box.

  • Problems with drop down menu in html snippet

    Hi all,
    I am trying to use a form with a drop down menu so the user can jump directly to the corresponding page. I am using the code generated by http://javascript.internet.com/generators/drop-down-menu.html, and it works correctly when I test it in the "Show me the drop down menu" option on their page.
    This is the html code:

    When I paste this code into an html snippet in iWeb, my page does not work correctly after publishing to a folder. The jump to location doesn't open its corresponding page. Instead, it defaults to the same page that has the drop down menu, only the menu doesn't appear any more. Instead, I get a "hole" where the drop down menu used to be.
    This is my URL: http://www.mygaragebandstudio.com/jingles.html
    I examined the code of the page with the html snippet generated by iWeb, and to my surprise I couldn't even find the html code of the form with the drop down menu. Where is it?
    Please help!

    JSYK,
    You didn't actually give PressWeb the green star by marking his post as the post that solved your question. You merely marked the question as answered but never actually marked PressWeb's post as being the post that answered your question, which will in effect reward PressWeb with the green star as seen by a green star appearing in the header for his post. I only mention this because you have incorrectly mentioned rewarding PressWeb with a green star.
    Hope that helps.

  • Implementing a drop down menu.

    Hi, I am trying to create a drop down menu on my jsp page which will change a GIF that I send back in the servlet response. Right now I just call a function that encodes the GIF and displays it through the output stream of the servlet response, but I am looking to make a drop down box that will start with the output of an initial graph with the menu below it, and then when the user selects another option it updates the output with the new graph. And the user can continually select the different options.

    Either way would actually work great. It is simply a matter of having one variable and giving the user the option to change it between a few preset options. I think it would be better to generate the graph with each request because it would make the initial load time of the page go down, however if it is much easier to generate them all at the beginning and then swap I would be happy to do that. I have another jsp page that I can call that can take the variable and it will spit out the correct graph, but I don't know how to access it correcty from the other jsp page and I don't know how to make the choicebox work right either. I appreciate the help.

  • Drop Down Menu Component

    I have completed a tutorial for a drop down menu. I test the
    movie and clicking on a submenu item named Save under a main menu
    heading named File and using a trace action, correctly identifies
    the item as shown in the attached code. However, I don't know how
    to use this result to then proceed to a movie clip named "Save".
    (These are just sample names for my trials.) I would have thought
    if I put a movie clip named Save with a frame label "Save", I could
    just replace the trace (e) code with gotoAndPlay(e); The logic is
    working to a point, as when I do this, I get a compiler error
    saying there is no label "Save" on Scene 1, so Flash is attempting
    to find the correct target. This is the compiler message
    "[MenuEvent type="itemSelected" bubbles=false cancelable=false

    I am wondering if a frame label and an indexLabel are two
    different things?
    I am using Action Script 3 strictly. Anybody out there with
    any ideas?
    Thank you.

    The attached contains a drop-down that sets focus on a text field on the applicable page. The effect is to navigate to the page. The exit event looks like this...
    //form1.page1.subform1.pageSelection::exit - (JavaScript, client)
    switch (this.rawValue) {
    case "Treatment Note":
       xfa.host.setFocus(form1.page2.subform1.someField);

  • The bookmarks in my drop-down menu do not appear when I try to "organize bookmarks". When I try to bookmark a page, the folders in the drop-down menu do not appear as choices.

    The trouble started when I transferred applications from my old computer. When I click "bookmarks", all my bookmarks are there. When I try to "Organize Bookmarks", it acts like I have no bookmarks. When I try to "Bookmark this page", it does not show all the folders that are in the drop-down menu. There are a number of bookmark files in the appdata\mozilla\firefox\profiles area, none of which are complete. I tried a backup and restore in the organize menu and a backup was created, but I don't know what was backed up. I suspect nothing was backed up. When I clicked a restore, nothing happened.

    I'm not familiar with Windows 7, but... is it possible there is a permissions problem with your profile folder, or read-only set on any database files?

  • How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?

    How do I add "Save As" to the Pages drop down menu?

    It took me awhile but I found what I was looking for. This is posted at http://www.tuaw.com/2012/07/29/get-save-as-back-on-mountain-lions-file-menu-easi ly-and-without/
    Option 1. Terminal.app If you are comfortable using Terminal.app, you can add a different keyboard shortcut this with one simple line. First, quit all your apps except Finder and Terminal. Then paste this command (as one line) into Terminal.app (and press Return):
    1
    defaults write -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add 'Save As...' '@$S'
    view rawdwrite-global-saveas.sh hosted with ❤ by GitHub
    That's it!
    Launch TextEdit and open the 'File' menu and you should see "Save As..." back in its rightful spot with its original Command + Shift + S shortcut, as shown in the image above.
    Aside: After you enter the 'defaults write' command, you will not see any confirmation that it was entered correctly. Terminal.app is a little terse sometimes. If you want to verify it from the command-line, enter this:
    defaults read -globalDomain NSUserKeyEquivalents
    and look for "Save As..." = "@$s"; in the output.
    Option 2. System Preferences.app If you would rather not use Terminal, it's still very easy to add the keyboard shortcut.
    Launch the System Preferences.app, then open the "Keyboard" preference pane.
    At the top you will see "Keyboard" and "Keyboard Shortcuts" – click "Keyboard Shortcuts" (labeled '1' below). Then in the list on the left side, click "Application Shortcuts" (labeled '2' below). Then click the "+" button (labeled '3' below):
    Once you press that "+" button, a small window will appear asking you to enter the title of the menu item and the keyboard shortcut that you want to use.
    Enter "Save As..." in the "Menu Title:" field, and then press the keyboard shortcut that you want to use. In the example below I pressed Command + Shift + S:
    Note: It used to be true that you had to enter an actual ellipsis (which you can get by pressing Option+ ; on a US-English keyboard). However, when I tested this in Mac OS X 10.8.2, it worked with three consecutive periods.
    Bonus Tip: Hide the "Duplicate" menu item.
    In my original article I suggested that you also enter a keyboard shortcut for "Duplicate" and while youcan do that if you wish, you do not need to do that.
    However, if you would like to hide the Duplicate menu item, you can do that. There are two steps: first, remap "Save As..." to Command + Shift + S (as shown above). Then the 'trick' is to remap "Duplicate" to Command + Shift + Option + S.
    What you will have done is swap the keyboard shortcuts for "Duplicate" and "Save As..." which means that OS X will make "Duplicate" the optional command. If you open the "File" menu and hold down "Option" the "Save As..." command will change to "Duplicate"
    (Thanks to TUAW reader 'rbascuas' for pointing this out in response to the original article!)
    Important Addendum: "Keep changes in original document"
    As we reported in August 2012, the "Save As..." command in early versions of 10.8 had an unexpected and likely unwanted side effect in Mountain Lion: it would save the changes in the new document (created by "Save As...") but would also save the changes to the original document.
    However, Apple realized that users might not want that behavior, so in Mac OS X 10.8.2 they added an option "Keep changes in original document" which you can see here:
    Option A: If you want to save the changes you've made in the document and then save the document with a different name, then make sure that the box is checked.
    Option B: If you want your original document to stay as it was when you last saved it and create a new document based on the modified content of that document, then make sure that box is not checked.
    If you do not see the 'Keep changes in original document' box, then the application is probablygoing to give you the "Option B" behavior, but if you are not sure, I would suggest choosing Cancel in the "Save" dialog, then copy and paste the contents of the document into a new file, and save the new file. I know that's several extra-and-less-convenient steps, but if you are worried about preserving the original document, better safe than sorry.
    You could also save the file, duplicate it in Finder, and rename the new instance. Open old file and revert to previous save using 'Versions'.
    Frankly,I wish that Apple had just left the "Save As..." command alone, but for some reason they didn't ask my opinion. That said, I'm glad that they brought it back in Mountain Lion. I would have paid $20 for that feature alone.

  • Mobile drop down menu won't disappear once I have clicked one of the links in the drop down to take me to an anchor further down the page. I want the drop down to disappear upon clicking and scroll at the same time.

    Basically I have a drop down menu, which i have tried to create numerous times with different widgets available in muse or as freebies on the net.
    The menu within the drop down is a manual menu and each button links to an anchor on the page, so that when clicked the page scrolls to that anchor.
    My problems is that once I have clicked one of the links to go to the anchor further down the page the drop down remains. For the purpose of User Experience and fluidity across the mobile design i would like the drop down to disappear on click of the anchor link. Is this possible?
    Many thanks,
    Lew.

    Hi Brad,
    At the moment I have used an downloaded widget which utilises the acordian style to create the drop down. Here is a link to the Mobile version of the site - http://www.brainstormdesign.co.uk/phone/index.html
    Many thanks,
    Lew.
