  • How can I get the airport drop down menu to allow me to enter a WPA2 Personal Password

    Powerbook G4, with Airport Card firmware 9.52. Through the System Preferences, Network, using the "edit" button, I can enter a WPA2 Personal password, but when I go to connect to the network, the drop down menu only allows me to enter a WEP Password.  And, obviously, I get an error message saying I have the wrong password. Why can I use WPA2 in the system preferences, but the airport menu doesn't then allow me to enter a WPA2 password to connect?

    Try Connect to Other... from the Airport menu.

  • Can't Block Person in iChat, with task bar drop down menu in Buddies.

    Hello : )
    I was wondering if anyone knows how i can use my "Block Person", on iChat (task bar with drop down menu in Buddies). I am pretty sure this worked has worked before , the command is there it just seems to stay greyed out. I know it can be done in the Security tab / ichat preferences, I would like it to work under the Buddies drop down as well. I know it did before, my HD was replaced. Help would be most appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.
    Eme;~[)

    Hi Eme,
    Ok. iChat 3 has a setting that needs to be set if you are going to use the same screen name on two copmuters or on two apps on the same computer.
    Go to iChat > Preferences > Accounts
    Select the AIM account in question in the left hand column
    Select the Account Info tab.
    Log out of AIM (iChat menu)
    Check the check box "Allow Multiple Logins for This Account"
    Log back into AIM.
    If this is not checked starting iChat 3 will boot off (log out) any other AIM Client using the same screen name whether it is on the same computer or not
    From what the ISP says and what you have posted here it seems the modem is in Bridge mode.
    I take it if you open System Preferences > Network > Select Airport from the second drop down > TCP/IP tab you IP is shown as 10.0.1.2 ?
    And the drop down just above that says "USING DHCP" ?
    This would mean the Airport is in default mode and Issuing Addresses.
    Also by default an Airport would do NAT. (Network Address Translation)
    This measn the Airport sorts out where each bit of data has to go.
    It is different from other routers as you don't have the specify which ports are going to whch ports on one IP (Port Forwarding)
    Which Netopia device is it ?
    3347 ?
    If it is this one you may need to look at the QoS settings.
    These are setings that are supposed to protct you form reciveing data too quickly. (helpful if you are running a busy web site but restrictive sometimes for iChat).
    As you are omly talking about sorting out Block lists it is prpobably the multiple login option that needs doing.

  • Contacts drop-down menu blocked by on screen keyboard in text messages

    Whenever I draft a new text message I put the cursor in the contact box and type the first letter of the name of the person I am trying to contact.  If I have more than 3 people in my phone whose names start with that letter, the drop down menu becomes partially obscured by the on screen keyboard.  If I attempt to scroll down on the menu, it selects whomever I happen to press.  My attempts to minimize the keyboard have been futile.  I understand I can work around this by going into contacts and selecting someone to text, but the problem is pretty aggravating.  Please help!

  • Thanks to the super-users, and questions on backgrounds and drop-down menu

    Hi all.
    I've spent a fair amount of time perusing the archives, so I don't have to bother you all with the basic questions. Great thanks to Wyodor, Old Toad, Ethmoid and Cyclosaurus for their excellent and oft-repeated tutorials.
    With your help, I've figured out how to set up a personal domain name, modify my background image, and create a drop-down menu. (These were major accomplishments for a neophyte like me.) My primitive template can be seen here:
    http://www.monroekarate.org/dojo/Template.html
    And I am pretty happy with it. I have one problem, and one minor element that I'd like to fix.
    The drop-down menu was created following the excellent tutorial from the iWebfaq but I notice that although it looks perfect there is one malfunction. If you hover and try to select an element where there is no underlying content, it works fine. When you try to select a list item with underlying content, however, the drop-down disappears. Any idea why that happens or how I can fix it? I suppose I could just add a space buffer, but that is an inelegant solution.
    On a more trivial note, the background was actually supposed to be composed of two images. The top row was supposed to be a horizontal set of tiles (slightly darker in color) and the rest of the background was tiled in a second image, giving a gradient effect. I used the script Wyodor described here with repeat set to yes which gave me single-image tiling. Looks OK, but if I could get both sets of tiles used it would add substantial richness to the visual effect. Ideas?
    Thanks again for all your help to date, and thanks in advance for considering this issue!
    Cheers,
    Liam

    I appreciate your reply but those arrows were not the ones I was trying to describe. In the same box where you would type your web address on the far right is a small star and then next to it an arrow pointing down. If you click on this arrow, it normally drops down a list of the websites you commonly use. Or, if you are on a website ordering something, there might be a similar arrow that you need to select in order to choose which shipping you might want such as ground, next day air, etc., these are the kinds of arrows that are not working correctly now. Any ideas on these? Thanks for trying to help me.

  • I need to define the acceptable answers in a text field by what is selected in a drop down menu.

    Hello please help.
    First, I am new to form creation in Acrobat XI Pro so please be patient with me.
    I am creating an electronic invoice with the client list in a drop down menu. When the service person selects the client, the pricing fields need to have limitations set on them.
    If I can figure out the script to set it for one selection from the drop menu, I can figure out the others.
    Example of the three important scripts:
    If GCO is selected in the drop menu then 80 and 0 are acceptable in the hook up field.
    If GCO is selected in the drop menu then mileage = TM -5. If TM - 5 is < 0 then Mileage only = 0. If TM -5 > 0 then (TM - 5) * 3.5
    If GCO is selected in the drop menu then Fuel Charge = 0
    Any help would be great. Thanks!

    Can you please provide a screenshot showing the issue? I have no idea what's happening to you, what with all the caps and all.

  • Unknown PC icon showing up in the shared drop down menu - a hacker?

    There is an unknown PC "kirkshp" showing up in the shared drop down menu, that makes me worried. I have shut off my bluetooth, and airport connection for now but would like to know how this PC is connecting and how to eliminate this in the future.
    Have seen many posts with this problem, but not a comparable situation as I don't even have wireless router in house - I am hooked in via ethernet but use airport when out of my studio.
    Just want a simple, if temporary solution until I can learn more about network security - any wisdom out there? I would so appreciate it, thanks!

    Hi
    I think by Shared you mean the Shared Section in the Finder Window's Sidebar. If that's the case what you're seeing is probably because
    (1) either you've joined an unsecured wireless network or
    (2) your wireless network is unsecured and that person has joined your network
    (3) both of you are using a freely available public wireless network
    (4) your network is secured but has a weak password
    (5) your network is secured with a password which has been broken
    (6) your network is secured but you've given the user you're seeing the password
    If (4) and (5) is the case change the password. If (6) perhaps you've forgetten? Perhaps the PC you're 'seeing' is named in a way you don't recognize as the person you gave the password to?
    If (2) force users to require a password to join your network or disable the option that broadcasts your wireless network's name. That way no-one 'sees' your wireless network 'announcing' itself as such. The only way to join the network would be to manually enter its name which you would have to know in the first place. You do this using your gateway/router's web interface. Assuming your gateway/router supports this option?
    If (1) you're probably looking at the person's PC whom the network belongs to.
    As long as you don't enable Personal File Sharing, unrestricted SSH access or VNC then at best all they can do is 'see' another PC that happens to be connected to the same network. If you have enabled Personal File Sharing 'beef' up your passwords and begin to restrict which user/account is allowed access to Public Folders. Can you actually connect to that PC? Or is all you can do is 'see' it?
    I actually don't see any of this as a 'problem'. For me this is how this part of the OS is supposed to work. Macs announce/broadcast themselves on P2P Networks using a variety of protocols - Bonjour/Rendezvous, NetBios etc. PCs do something similar. You may also find the PC that you can 'see' is not actually a PC but a Router/Gateway/Firewall. Some Thompson Gateways for example broadcast themselves as a 'PC'.

    Hi -
    While I am not familiar with the use of all the span tags I see,
    You said "currently on the "about us" option a sub menu drops down, ive worked out how to  add to this menu and change the words"
    What is the problem doing the same thing under the other top level item?

  • LiveCycle Designer 8.0 Drop-down menu help - newbie

    I am new with LiveCycle and do not know much about coding and the like. I've search the forums and have not found quite what I need. (It might be because I don't know the correct terms to search - so I apologize in advance if there was a previous posting regarding this)
    I am creating a form for lab tests for referring physicians to fill out.
    for simplicity, I will just use the state, city example.
    >>>>>> QUESTION 1.
    I have dragged/dropped a drop-down menu icon onto the form, gone through the Palette>Object>Field>List Items to compile the list of states (in my real case, a list of lab tests)
    How can I get the second drop down menu to show the corresponding cities based on the "state" selected in the first drop down menu? So that when I choose "California" I have the option in the second drop-down menu to choose from "Los Angeles," "Orange County," "Long Beach," etc
    VERSUS
    if I select "Texas" the list will retrieve "Houston," "Sugarland," "Dallas," etc.
    I read about hardcoding and although I'm not quite sure what that means, I think that is what I will be doing as I will not be referencing outside of my form.
    Also, the items in these menus are long/descriptive in nature, is there a way to refer to the lists in the code without having to type everything out? In my form (instead of "state") I will have lab tests "Test_1" with CPT codes attached, that is the list includes items like:
    93880 - carotid duplex scan, bilateral
    93882 - carotid duplex scan, unilateral
    and in drop-down list 2 I have items like:
    454.0 - varicose vein with ulcer
    454.1 - varicose veins with inflammation
    it would be such a pain to type each out in the code, but if there are no other ways around it, that is fine too.
    >>>>>>> QUESTION 2.
    The referring physician will have the option to email this form to the vascular lab scheduler. To prevent an "accidental" changes, I would like the form to be a "live form" for people to fill out, but upon return, the form to be a static PDF file, that is, the person receiving the email does not have the option to make any changes (purposeful or accidental), is there a way to do this?
    THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!
    again, I apologize for asking for help for what I'm sure is an easy fix. I don't know very much about the coding language, if it is not too much to ask - step-by-step would be helpful.
    I'm using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0.
    Thank you.
    -Viv

    Hi Geo,
    Thank you for the link.
    Sorry, this is very difficult for me to explain not knowing the scripting language, but I will try my best not to confuse you too much.
    I was able to get Thom's example to work, and based on that, I was able to get this hypothetical situation to work:
    < script contentType="application/x-javascript" name="Example2" >var oTestOrdered = {
    12345678912345678: [ ["-"], ["AAA (Endologix)"], ["AAA (GORE)"], ["Aortic Arch"],["other"]],
    56565: [ ["-"], ["Varicose Vein"], ["Venous Insufficiency"], ["Spider Veins"],["Symptomatic Var Veins"]],
    46546: [ ["-"], ["TA biopsy"], ["CEA"], ["amputation"], ["debridement"]]
    function SetTestEntries()
    ICD9_2.clearItems();
    ICD9_2.rawValue = null;
    var aTests = oTestOrdered[xfa.event.change];
    if(aTests && aTests.length)
    for(var i=0;i<aTests.length;i++)
    ICD9_2.addItem(aTests[i][0].toString());
    </ script >
    HOWEVER, I cannot get something like this one to work (the only difference is that I added a "9" to the first option) it seems as though I cannot insert anything beyond 17 consecutive characters (no dashes and underscores are allowed either):
    < script contentType="application/x-javascript" name="Example2" >var oTestOrdered = {
    123456789123456789: [ ["-"], ["AAA (Endologix)"], ["AAA (GORE)"], ["Aortic Arch"],["other"]],
    56565: [ ["-"], ["Varicose Vein"], ["Venous Insufficiency"], ["Spider Veins"],["Symptomatic Var Veins"]],
    46546: [ ["-"], ["TA biopsy"], ["CEA"], ["amputation"], ["debridement"]]
    function SetTestEntries()
    ICD9_2.clearItems();
    ICD9_2.rawValue = null;
    var aTests = oTestOrdered[xfa.event.change];
    if(aTests && aTests.length)
    for(var i=0;i<aTests.length;i++)
    ICD9_2.addItem(aTests[i][0].toString());
    </ script >
    The form I am creating is a Vascular Lab request form, where the test ordered (drop down box 1)has a CPT code to reference the test being ordered (i.e., 93880 - Carotid Duplex Scan, bilateral) and the test has a set of diagnoses (ICD-9 codes) in drop down box 2, associated with that test (i.e., 459.81 - Venous Insufficiency)
    I have found that I do not have a problem with the "diagnoses" but I cannot add the descriptive test select in the first place. That is, the code works fine if I leave it as "93880" but not "93880 - description." I have also run into the problem that I cannot use dashes or underscores, nor can I type more than 17 characters otherwise the code no longer works.
    Is there something I need to add or remove in order to make this work?
    Thank you in advance for your help and patience!

  • Form2mail how do I set up the form to sent to a recipient selected from a drop-down menu?

    I am trying to configure dreamweaver form2mail to be able to send the information submitted to individual employees.  I would like the form to be set up where as you choose the recipient form a drop down menu and the only that recipient would receive the information collected on the form.  I can't seem to find any information on this.  I can only find info on sending to multiple recipients at the same time.  I only want the recipient that is selected to receive the form information.
    Alternatively, can anyone recommend a low cost or FREE form to mail system.

  • When my iphone is connected to my Mac and I open iTunes, I can't find my photos.  Even the drop down menu doesn't even have an entry for photos.  I have music, books, movies, etc...but nothing for photos.  Where did it go?!

    Here is a screen shot of all my options when I open iTunes.

    Hey NFredrick45208,
    Thanks for the question. This drop down menu is actually specific to your local library. You'll want to select your iPhone in the upper right corner to browse the device:
    iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
    Furthermore, you may want to turn on the iTunes Sidebar to return to the layout of previous versions:
    iTunes 11 for Mac: Customize the iTunes window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12164
    Use the Sidebar to access your content, devices, and the iTunes Store
    You might want to show the Sidebar if, for example, you use a screen reader.
    Choose View > Show Sidebar.
    And finally, here is an article about importing your personal photos:
    iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Show/hide fields when selecting an option from a drop-down menu.

    Hello Gurus!
    I have a question about creating a Java Script withing Acrobat pro.  This is what i would like to do: I created a drop-down menu with several selection entries.  Upon the customer making one of the selection entries, i would like for the correct fields that i created to become visible and all other fields to hide.  Is this even possible to do?  The reasoning behind this is because we have a form that customers have to generate in order to request access to certain financial accounts; we have over 20 different types of accounts and for each instance the customer has to fill out the same form.  By creating a drop down menu, i can use the same form by just changing the drop-down selection and clicking on the designated fields for that selection.  At this time i have over 20 different forms that poing to 20 different account requests and i would hate to send the form 20 different times to one person.  The reason i can not add all fields desired for all accounts is due to the fact that the form would be filled with hundreds of checkmarks and instructions thus making the process too tideous for the customer.  Hope you guys can help out.
    ~Vader

    The good news is, it can be done (and it has been done).
    There are a few things to be aware of, however.
    The most important is that the form must be planned well, which means that you must think carefully about your logic and even more so about your field naming (hierarchical field names are your friend). One fundamental issue, you have to be aware of, is that this form no longer will be a "standard form". The consequence of this is that you may have to be aware that you might get into trouble when you have to prove that your user filled out that particular standard form (talk to your compliance and forms management people about that).
    You also may have to decide whether the form should be usable in Reader. And, if so, how much you want to spend on the right to do so. You will see below why…
    There are actually two approaches for dynamically showing/hiding parts of a form. If your form can be separated between a fixed first page (where you also have the account type selection), and a variable part (depending on the selection), you could use Templates, which you spawn according to the selection, and delete pages when you change the selection. This approach is very easy to implement, but requires Reader Extensions Server to allow it to work in Reader; Acrobat Pro's extended rights are not sufficient for that.
    The other approach is showing/hiding fields. If you did your homework well, it would be very easy to first hide all subsequent fields, and then show the ones you need in two lines of code. This approach does not require extended rights for Reader at all, as long as your forms will always have the same number of pages, for each of your account types. This approach also works for the cases where the differences between the individual forms are very small. It does also work for showing/hiding bigger chunks of the form. In that case, you might create the "background" separately, and then put it as an icon into a button field which you will show/hide together with the carefully placed on top of it active fill-out fields.
    There is a third possibility, which Adobe Propaganda probably would suggest, and that woudl be subforms in LiveCycle Designer. The consequence is, however, that you won't have PDF forms, but proprietary XFA forms instead. And you may have more developing and maintenance work than with the other approaches.
    Back to your original question: you could use a Keystroke script evaluating event.changeEx of the combo box field. Depending on that, you would run your action to set up the according form part. The other way to do it would be evaluating event.value in the onBlur event. The latter would have the advantage that the selection has been made, and you get a bit more time to set up the form (this may in fact be an issue, particularly with Acrobat 9 and 10, which may take their time to show/hide fields).
    Another possibility instead of a drop down (combo box field) would be a popup, where you would have a button to press, and the list of selections pops up. This second method uses app.popUpMenuEx().
    Hope this can help.
    Max Wyss.

  • Safari won't provide a drop down menu when I click on paper clip in outlook email. Any help on this would be great.

    I am using Microsoft Outlook for work email and Safari won't display a drop down menu when I click on the paper clip for attachments. The IT person at work says the browser isn't working or Safari isn't updated and I should try a different browser.   My other Comcast email is fine. I can attach anything.  Any help would be great.

    You could try enabling the Develop menu and try using IE but no guarantees. Not surprising that (Microsoft) Outlook isn't compatible with Apples' Safari.
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Prerferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
    Now from the Safari menu bar top of your screen click Develop > User Agent
    Try IE 7, 8, or 9.

  • Updating drop down menu depending on another drop down menu

    Hi!
    I'm making this questionnaire, and it has 10 questions (q01 to q10).
    Each question has 4 sub-questions with an associated drop-down menu (q01L1 to q01L4, q02L1 to q02L4, etc.).
    The values available to select from the drop-down menu are: 1, 2, 3, and 4.
    For each sub-question, the user has to select a value (1, 2, 3, or 4), and that value can only be selected once for each question as a whole.
    I suppose that JavaScript will be able to remove, update, or rebuild the other drop-down menus according to the answer given to each sub-question. How can it be achieved? I have no idea how to make that happen. Could you help?
    Thanks.
    For example :
    This is what the user actually see BEFORE filling the question :
    Question 1 : When disagreeing on points of view, I get influenced by
    [Drop-down menu 1] : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    [Drop-down menu 2] : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    [Drop-down menu 3] : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    [Drop-down menu 4] : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel.
    The following is for you to visualise the way I named the fields in the PDF questionnaire :
    q01 : When disagreeing on points of view, I get influenced by
    q01L1 {1,2,3,4} : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    q01L2 {1,2,3,4} : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    q01L3 {1,2,3,4} : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    q01L3 {1,2,3,4} : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel.
    q01 = the name I gave to the question 1
    L1 = the name I gave to the sub-question 1
    q01L1 = the name I gave to the drop-drop menu of the sub-question 1 of the question 1
    {1,2,3,4} = the answers the user can select from the menu.
    The user can answer :
    4 : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    2 : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    1 : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    3 : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel
    But cannot answer :
    4 : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    2 : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    1 : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    4 : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel
    This is where the JavaScript comes into play. What can be done to remove, update, or rebuild the other drop-down menus according to the answer given to each sub-question?
    If the user answers 4 to q01L1, the 3 other drop-down menus should look like this
    4 : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    q01L2 {1,2,3} : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    q01L3 {1,2,3} : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    q01L3 {1,2,3} : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel.
    And then, if the user answers 2 to q01L2, the 2 last drop-down menus should look like this
    4 : The tone/volume of voice of the person with whom I speak.
    2 : My capability or incapability to understand the point of view of the person with whom I speak.
    q01L3 {1,3} : The logic and the rationale on which the person with whom I speak bases his/her opinion.
    q01L3 {1,3} : Whether or not the person with whom I speak is sensible to what I may feel.
    And so on.

    I'm sure that question is an FAQ in whatever language you're asking about. But you should really find the forum for that language. This is the forum for Java programming and that ain't Java.
