Drop down menu issues - "you are here" indicator disappears, and other concerns

Hi! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Link to one of my pages (all of which are still work in progress): Organize
I've been working to make a drop down menu in DW CC for days and have a lot of problems that still need resolution:
1) I want the pages to clearly indicate "you are here" but can't get the color change or text pop-up to stay put on the secondary pages, nor does the background color work properly. It used to but somewhere along the line I managed to screw it up.
2) The inline list is backwards! The order of the top-level nav, as is listed in the code, should be: Organize - Preserve - Disseminate - About Me.
3) The top level navigation links aren't working. I think this has to do with my nesting structure between my local files and remote server, as I had a problem with that for another recent assignment.
Thanks in advance!

HTML code for list menu:

  • 3 drop down menu issues

I have two issues here. www.newstribune.com. I know some of
this may be css issues, but I am aweful with css and could use a
cheat sheet for the css that dreamweaver makes for these drop down
menus, so I know what controls what...
    ok..
IE 6.0 will scroll out the drop down menu options but will
not allow the click... any ideas?
IE 7.0 renders the drop down menu's properly, but my front
page (and front page only) in firefox, the drop downs are off set.
    I have no idea why...
Please not that the drop downs were made into an include and
are rendered on all the pages. (It is a process so, you may find
some pages that don't have the new drop downs if you poke around a
    lot.)
lastly, if anyone knows what code I should strip out of the
drop down menu include in order to not cause the errors but still
allow it to be opened in Dreamweaver, can you please let me know?
If that is not possible, what should I remove? The entire code is
    below.

hello, thanks for reporting. hopefully it will help other affected users finding a solution too...

  • Responsive Drop Down Menu Issues

I'm having a few issues with my responsive drop down menu.  I'm trying to make one row with 2 separate menus that show up next to each other.  The left side is general a menu and the right side is social media links.  I have them functioning with 2 major issues.  First, I can't seem to get my background (black) go across the entire page.  It stops between the 2 menus.  Second, When I shrink down to a phone size browser and replace the menu with a drop down menu, my images (I'm using images instead of text so that I can use a specific font) expand to fit the space.  I want them all to show up as the proper size and want the drop down menu to be right next to the social media links.  Here's a link to the page so you can see what I am talking about.  My HTML and CSS are below.  Thanks.

  • Spry Drop Down menu issue in IE

  • Drop down menu issue

Anyone help me out on this issue. I have a drop down menu
that let's you select an option in it and then loads the other
page. Except it is now not working.
What I want to do is put it over an image and so I tried to
do the draw layer option and I put the drop down the layer but it
    will not work.
It does work if I put it on the bottom of the page below the
image, but I need it to lay over the top of the jpeg image. How do
    I do this?
I am using Dreamweaver MX Version 6
    Please someone help.
    Thanks

All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
    to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
    Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
    is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
    if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
    use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
    properly!).

  • Drop Down Menu Issues

Whenever I boot up my computer it works perfectly. However, after a little while, perhaps after I reactivate the screen after I've been gone for fifteen minutes, the dropdown menus and safari starts to malfunction.
What happens is the drop down menu will open, but as I drag the mouse over particular options, the options don't highlight. Also, whenever I drag the mouse over a link on a webpage, the icon does not change from an arrow to a pointing finger.
Does anyone know why this happens and/or how it can be fixed? It is rather annoying, but I'm concerned it might be symptoms of a bigger problem.
I have bootcamp and parallels installed on my computer. It is an intel based iMac.
    Thanks.

hello, I'm hoping to bump this thread if possible...
I posted a few days ago on creating a submenu that shows on
mouse hover. Well, I tweaked it to show onrelease and it works fine
when I'm in the MC and enabling simple buttons but once on the main
    timeline the submenu won't show.
right now, I have a MC on one layer in the main timeline.
Within that MC (wherein I converted the MC to a button), I have
four frames: a named frame (nosubmenu); a stop; some action code
stating onrelease gotoandstop submenu_up, and the last frame is the
submenu_up named frame showing the submenu. It works when I'm in
the MC and enabling simple buttons but once I'm on the main
timeline and testing movie it does not.
    Please help!

  • How do i get a drop down menu? my original one has disappeared.

I can't seem to find my drop down menu that I had before downloading Firfox 3.6.16
How can I compile a new list? bookmarking them is not putting them in the drop down menu.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Drop down menu issue in IE6

    Hello,
    http://www.dianetimewell.co.uk/tester/index.htm
I have an issue with my drop down menus in Internet Explorer 6.
If you select the 'Clinic' tab for some reason the drop down goes to the far left. I can't see anything that may be obstructing it from dropping down normally like the others.
It works in all other browsers.
    Any ideas out there??
    Many thanks,

Only error I get is that you wrote HTML in your CSS document which causes the document to not validate.  As far as menus goes, IE6 does not support a lot of JQuery and if you still have a significant number of users with IE6 visiting your site, you may want to rethink the layout or use the IE6 conditional statements to load a different menu altogether for IE6 users.

  • When I look for a website to go to the addresses I put in are shown in a drop down menu but they are not in alphabetic order, how do I sort it permanantly?

I have set Googleas my homepage when I look for a webaddress the drop menu displays the sites however they never stay in alphabetic order, how can I set it so that this happens?

  • I'm using Mac with OS 10.9.4 and Photoshop CC. I am unable to access "Focus Area Selection". When I go to "Select" on menu its simply not there in the drop down menu. Any help?

How do I access "Focus Area Selection" in Photoshop CC on a Mac? It's not showing in the "Select" drop-down menu.

Select > Focus area is in Photoshop CC 2014, not Photoshop CC.  So you must download and install CC 2014 to have access to this new feature.

  • Using a drop down menu as navigation

    Good morning all!
I have been struggling with making a drop down menu work as navigation for a while and finally need to reach out to all you brilliant people on this forum.
I currently have a drop down menu with three items(Nav1, Nav, 2, Nav3) corresponding to three pages(Screen1, Screen2, Screen3). When I first created the menu it seemed I could only use the OnChange option to use navigation with the menu because, when using
the OnSelect I only get these options:
    If(Datasource!Selected!Title
    /// and ///
    If(Datasource!Selected!Value
If I use the first option the title listed on my data source doesn't work, I get the red squiggly line. If I use the second option (Value) I have no value listed in my data source.
Therefore I used the OnChange option, I can get the menu to navigate to the first page, however I realized that this option chances to one single page no matter what the menu option changes to.
Does anyone know how to make a drop down into a fully functioning navigation menu?
The other issue I ran into was resetting the drop down to the first list item upson returning to the screen however,   ptr.chovan,
    offered this working solution:
set a variable in screen1 property OnVisible
    UpdateContext({active: true})
    and in screen1 property OnHidden
    UpdateContext({active: false})
Then in dropdown visual add this in Items
    If(active=true, .... your data source here ...)
Or perhaps easiest way is instead of resetting datasource of dropdown, you can reset  dropdown default by adding this into Default property
    of dropdown
    If(active=true, "Screen1")

If your Items in dropdown1 are
    ["Nav1", "Nav2", "Nav3"]
Then use OnChange property of the dropdown1
    If(Dropdown1!Selected!Value="Nav1", Navigate(Screen2,""), Dropdown1!Selected!Value="Nav2", Navigate(Screen3,""), Dropdown1!Selected!Value="Nav3", Navigate(Screen4,""))
Does the other solution of resetting dropdown helped you?

  • Safari drop down menu transparent, can't read anything

For the past several months, the suggestion drop down menu in Safari has been extremely transparent and impossible to read. Running OS X 10.10 and Safari 8.0.3. on a MacBookPro 13in Mid-2012
Not really sure how to fix this.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1274 ' 0.5 0.25 50 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 5 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1 500 40 500 300 85 25 20480 262144 20 2000     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • Buttons - making a drop down menu

    Hello,
I only know very basic flash. Right now, I am attempting to revamp a website. The buttons that are currently being used are only gifs that are hyperlinked and there are almost 12 buttons... I think that this is a ridiculous amount of buttons to have. It looks very cluttered.
So, I figured I should make 6 buttons and just fit the rest of the buttons into subcategorized buttons. And the way to do this is to create flash buttons with drop down menus. To see what I mean, go to this link and look at their buttons:
    http://ca.msn.com/
Their buttons drop down into menus with sub-categories. I want to do this.
So far, I have gone into flash, created buttons and made graphics for the "Up" "Over" "Down" and "Hit". I have also added the menu buttons and graphics for the "Over" of each drop-down button-menu.
I have even provided the action script to link each button to where I need it to go.
HOWEVER, here is where the problem is. When I roll the mouse over the button, and then move the mouse down to click on one of the buttons in the drop down menu, the menu disappears, OF COURSE, because the mouse goes off the hit. I can't make the hit bigger, because the menu shouldn't open unless it's on the main button. But without the hit being bigger, the menu will always disappear.
IN ADDITION, I've never used flash buttons on a website before. I'm just using HTML. How do I link the button to the page? Do I save the file as a .swf flash file? And link to 6 different files? Or do I save the buttons in a line, and just use one link?
I'm on a bit of a deadline so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    -Michelle

While I can't help you with your deadline, I can offer a little bit of input.  To take a Flash approach you should find a Flash drop down menu tutorial thru Google and follow thru that to gain an understanding of how to construct one.  The problem you are having with the rollover stems from needing to extend the rollover such that each element of the dropdown also carries that rollover command.  Each button needs to be assigned code to process interacting with it and linking to some other web page.  The swf file that you publish would need to be sized for holding the buttons and then must be placed on the web page.
The example you pointed to uses a CSS drop down menu, which you will likely find easier to create and manage if you have no familiarity with how to make Flash work in a web site.  I suggest going to the Dreamweaver forum and looking there for information about that approach.

  • Drop down menu to populate fields used for testing

    Hello,
I have asked a few questions on here and everyone is very helpful thank you
My current question is related to drop down menus.
What I want to do is have the end user be able to select the testing item from a drop down menu and all of the values associated with testing that item.
The associated values will need to be used in the testing function so the test can run properly.
Things such as offsets, loads, and other values are what I am talking about.
    To clarify...
have a drop down menu where you can select which item you are testing, and once selected have the associated parameters populate and be used during the test.
After searcing the forums for a few hours I was un able to find any other question or example similar enough to what I am trying to accomplish
    Thank you!

  • Can't 'detect tempo' under audio drop down menu :-(

    Hi
I am trying to fix up the tempo to quantisize a track and I can't seem to be able to use 'detect tempo' under the audio drop down menu.
When I select the region and then click on 'detect tempo' I am told that there are 'no regions selected'.
I selected the regions in both the main window and in piano bar seperately but still no luck.
    Any help would be fantastic!
    Thanks soo much!

    keeden,
    You may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.
