Drop Down Menus (Can't Get it Right)...

hi everybody:
i'm trying to build a drop down menu for a site's navigation.
i've searched google and all the flash forums i can think of,
and i keep getting the same results.
i've tried the "invisible button" method -- whereby rolling
over an invisible button surronding the menu causes it to collapse
-- which works OK, but not too great. My buttons are close together
and the sometimes the mouse doesn't recognize the invisible button.
I'm happy with the results when I attach an rollover/rollout
actionscript to my menu, but that overrides the actions on my
submenu.
Is there any way I can get around this?
Can I put the actionscript somewhere so the rollover/rollout
doesn't screw it all up?

the easiest way is constructing your menu with frame labels
now i have no way of knowing how you are constructing it ..so
this may not work for you ...i assume that you have created a main
button ...that has been converted into a symbol & then
duplicated to create all other buttons
okay here it goes ..i hope i dont confuse you
i will explain how to create 1 button with 4 submenu items
with the trems that i mentioned above
but iam not going to explain all the details of creating a
whole nav bar
because it just takes too much typing ...i assume you already
know this
sooo ! ...lets say this is the Portfoio button ...inside the
symbol now
create 8 layers ...the order is going from top to bottom
actions
labels
submenu Logos
submenu Illustration
submenu Animation
submenu Coolstuff ."you will name your button items how you
like" ...
main button....lets just say Portfolio !
invisible btn for main button
so now on with the hard stuff
create 20 frames ...stop action on frame 1 ...frame 9
...frame 20
on the labels layer now ....name frame1 "Closed" ...frame 10
"Open"
on the submenu Logos layer ...create a keyframe on frame 10
all frames before the 10th frame will be blank frames
repeat that for the rest of the submenu items
on the main button layer you will just place the main
Portfolio button on frame 1
& on the invisible button layer ..the inv btn is going to
be placed on frame 10
all this is iam hoping your have converted everything into1
symbol
all you need to do know is attach code to the main Portfolio
button & the invisible button
so click on the Portfolio button
on (rollOver) {
gotoAndStop("open");
invisible button
on (rollOver){
gotoAndPlay("closed");
& that should be good ...very simple !
then just repeat this process for every button that makes up
your nav bar ....& it doesn't matter if your inv buttons
overlap each other or your main nav buttons are touching each other

My dropdown menus work fine but when I scroll down to use an option one thing will go to the left and another thing ( in the same drop down ) to the right. Anyone know how to make them ALL go in one direction to the right?

Cs 5.5 Drop down menus

So i am very new to this and was recently informed that spry is dead, discontined, 86'ed, curtains, DEAD. So i was forwarded to some very cool tutorials about making 100% CSS drop down menus from scratch. Easy right? ummm no. i have set up the HTML structure for my drop down menu and have the categories i need, but i am not sure where to put them in the code. The sight shows different ways to set them up but i dont know how to navigate them or set them up. Can anyone write me a Drop Down Menu For Dummies?

Drop down menus disappear in a blink of an eye. If I open more than 10 tabs I can't get to them, the arrow takes me back to the first 10. Only in FF, IE works fine. Tried safe mode and no change. It was fine one day and then not the next?

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men

I recently updated to the newest version of Flash (17.0.0.134) and I have a MacBook Air, running OSX. Ever since the update I can no longer select drop down menus or get Netflix to run properly. Has anyone else had this issue/know how to resolve it?

Drop down menus navigation in muse - can not get it to work

Hi,
I have built my first stite in Muse and have the top line of pages showing in the navigationthingy - but I can not somehow manage to get a way to get the drop down menus to work for the pages under the headings.
Any ideas on how I can get help with this?

Well, completely crazy thought: You could ask in the Muse forum?! Though, frankly, you will have to provide much more specific info liek what you actualyl did to set up the widget, how it is formatted, what the links are and so on. "This doesn't work." questions never go anywhere on any forum and no offense, your post is just that.

Cyclosaurus is the resident expert on java script. Search the forum for his posts in topics containing "drop down menu". Also Google "drop down menus" and you'll get a lot of sites with many types of menus and codes. I had trouble adding one via an HTML snippet and am still working on it just to learn the process.

I have created a Fireworks nav bar with drop down menus. Can't get the weblinks to save.

I am having some serious issues with firefox, i can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and I can't use any of the drop down menus on any site

I am having some serious issues with firefox to the point of choosing another search engine. I can't print anything because it is stuck on fax and won't let me change it to my printer when i do try to select my printer it jumps right back to fax. The drop down menus do not work on any of the sites I go to. For example when purchasing clothes and you have to choose a size from a drop down menu I can't do it when I click on the drop down menu it doesn't work at all. I don't have a virus I ran my virus protector and no viruses are present. I don't have any suspicious issues going on with my computer so there has to be something in Firefox that is causing my issues. I tried internet explorer and I don't have any issues there. I hope you can help me because I love Firefox and would really like to continue to use it.

Lots of issues there, main one getting fcpx going again, try deleting the preferences using the utility deveoped by these guys.

Right-click, drop-down menus in Firefox 15 cause entire Mac OS 10.7.4 system to hang, forcing manual reboot.

I bought a new MacBook Pro.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.4 with Firefox 15. Every time I right click or try to use a drop-down menu in Firefox, it causes the entire system to hang, forcing a manual reboot.
No crash reports are available as the Firefox does not actually crash.
I have tried
1.) Starting Firefox in safe mode
2.) Disabling all the add-ons
3.) Resetting Firefox
4.) Removing and re-installing Firefox
5.) Disabling hardware acceleration
The problem still occurs.
This is critical a critical issue as I have been using Firefox's Zotero plugin to write my PhD dissertation which is about 50% complete and now I cannot use Firefox or the Zotero plugin and have about 800 references I do not want to have to manually re-enter!! Also it is preventing me from continuing work on the dissertation as I am unable to insert references, and I have submit this thing by March!!!!

Ok, further developments. Still can't get Firefox to work; it makes Lion hang and I have to force a reboot. I tried using terminal to open FF's profile manager, delete my old profile and make a new one. Same problem.
I tried making a new user account in Mac OS, and doing another fresh install of Firefox. It worked! I was able to use drop down menus and right click without crashing the system!
However, as soon as I installed the Zotero plugin... the same issue started occurring again.

How can I correct the problems I've been experiencing lately with drop-down menus in general as well as and leading of text. It 's occurring on both Safari and Firefox browsers.

The above headline pretty much covers the problems.
Access to the drop down menus is erratic. Sometimes it's problem-free, but at other times it's impossible to see the options on the menu, or if they are visible, it's impossible to effect a change by clicking on one of them. The times I notice it most is when I am trying to change fonts or font sizes, but it occurs at other times, as well.
It's also frustrating to have to deal with double spacing (for example, when describing items on eBay). Sometimes the text flows normally, but if I force a return, the text that follows usually is double-spaced.
Often, the justification option does not work either.
Occasionally, I can get around one problem or another by switching back and forth between Safari and Firefox, but eventually, the original problem resurfaces.
Because it happens on both browsers, eBay tech support is inclined to think the problem is in my software. (I'm inclined to agree.)
Although they have suggested clearing the history in FF, that option must have been relocated, because it'sno longer under the "Tools" menu, where it was in the past. I also can't find the clear your cache option on OS Safari or 10.8.3.

I don't think it'd help much but clearing history is now in the History menu, and setting FF to clear history on exit is near the bottom of the Privacy tab of FF Preferences.
Also, if you don't have the Develop menu in Safari, open Safari preferences, click Advanced, and select “Show Develop menu in menu bar.” You'll find "Empty Caches" there.

I use this for my mobile, on-site auto repair business and not being able to call up repair and diagnostic info and reference for some cars is troublesome for sure. It works fine on the computer and I have installed a remote desktop app as a workaround but it is unreliable because the desktop is not business dedicated and may be off or in use at the time. So is there a known fix for this?
Let me paint a more descriptive picture, visualize 4 drop down selection menus, first one is for year, next one is for make, 3rd one is model and the last one is for engine size/type. If I wanted to choose a 2012 vehicle it wont work because it is the top selection on the list. This can be forced by selecting any other year and then coming back to 2012. Ok fine, but then let's say I wanted to choose Acura as the make, well it won't take it because again it's the top selection. Again you work around it be selecting any other make and coming back to Acura. Ok now select the model, same trend follows. But now since most Acura vehicles come with dedicated engines and no optional engines I have only 1 selection in that final drop down menu and it will not take my selection and therefore never let me proceed to the info I need.
This is also true when ordering parts from my wholesaler's website, they use drop downs and I can only get to that last drop down and then I'm stuck. This is blindingly frustrating, what options do I have. I'm not opposed to any avenue at this point.

Can't Scroll Inside Drop Down Menus

I just got a new HP laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit), installed Firefox 11 (now updated to 12), and discovered that when using the track pad (Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. Driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011), I can not scroll inside drop down menus.

Click the drop down for the category to search. Use the track pad to scroll the list. Mine closes the list and returns focus to the browser instead of scrolling the list. It then scrolls the browser window instead. This works fine in IE. Things I have tried:
Safe mode
Unchecking smooth scrolling
Unchecking autoscrolling
Unchecking hardware acceleration
And just about any of the various combinations of the above things. I also tried restarting Firefox each time I made a change. Nothing seems to solve this issue.
Oddly enough, if there is a text window inside the page (like the on I am writing this in), I can scroll that just fine. Once I move my mouse out of the box, it scrolls the main page just fine. I don't think it's a matter of the focus following the mouse, it has something to do with scrolling drop down boxes specifically it seems.
Also, I should note that all the pages I have problems with work fine in IE the way they SHOULD work in Firefox.

It's Synaptics Touch Pad v8.1. It is using a driver provided by Synaptics, version 15.3.29.0 dated 10/13/2011, and is supposedly the most current version. I have tried getting newer off the HP website, letting Windows search for the most current version, and looking at the Synaptics site, but I still end up with the same version.
I have double checked the scrolling regions to make sure I am within them as well as all the other settings regarding the touch pad. In fact, I had to enable the scrolling regions because they were disabled by default and instead used two finger scrolling. For what it's worth, two finger scrolling gives me the same result - it does not scroll the drop down menu.
As I said, it works just fine in IE and all other programs, so I'm not sure I understand how the drivers for the touchpad could be the issue. It seems to me it's more likely that Firefox is not interpreting the "signal" from the touchpad correctly, yet IE does. Then again, I've been wrong before...

Yes you are right. You have to set it to 100% to see the menu words. Makes all the print kind of small though..quirky program.

Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% to 149% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t. Sometimes the mouse or tool cursors are distorted.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops, and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality. If your height resolution is out of the range 768 to 800 try experimenting with the slider/settings.

I assume but I can't check that MathType rely on the standard iWork applications location which isn't the one used by the mac App Store.
Create a subfolder named iWork '09 in the Applications folder.
Select the iwork applications which you own then drag them into the iWork '09 folder.
You will be asked to type your password. Don't worry, it's normal.
It's required because the System must store the infos describing the new location so that, if a new revision is delivered, mac App Store will be able to find the apps where they are.
When this will be done, try to re-install MathType.
I guess that this time it will behave flawlessly.
