Drop off issue with Logic 9.1.3 (OSX 10.6.7) and TouchOSC 1.6.4

I've reinstalled fresh 10.6.7 on a new drive, with latest LogicPro 9.1.3. Then I've configured it with TouchOSC 1.6.4, and noticed a very strange behavior.
Basically, when the Logic starts, it initializes OSC service, and thus I can connect to it with TouchOSC on my iPad. But, if I switch the focus from Logic to other application, say, Preview, Logic drops its OSC service off, and there is no way to revive it unless to restart Logic.
Just verified on my Mac Mini - similar setup works just fine. The only difference, I believe, is in OS version (10.6.6).
Is this due to recent update of OS? How can I tell Logic to keep OSC service up and running even if in background?

I'm responding to my own question - it might be interesting for someone. The reason of such disconnect was in default value of "Bypass All while in background" set at Preferences/Control Surfaces/General tab.

  • I am having major issues with Logic 8 and want to reinstall.

I am having a lot of issues with Logic 8 and want to do a re-install. What is the procedure and what do I need to uninstall first. I need to be careful, because I don't want to affect my Logic 7.
    Any suggestions?

    What problems?
The first thing to do is trash the preferences. As far as affecting Logic 7, once you install 8, 7 is "forgotten" about. I'm assuming your L8 is a real version, not a "borrowed from the interweb" one.

  • Presonus Faderport - issues with Logic?

Hi - I've just gotten the Presonus single-channel faderport - great and affordable little product; however, it's causing a strange issue in Logic despite their claim that it's compatible, and their tech support has led me to one possible issue I wanted to ask about...the faderport sends data exclusively on MIDI channel 1 apparently, which makes sense because when it's hooked up, any external sampler I have will not play out of channel 1. This seems like a fatal flaw - they said it could have to do with my environment setup, ie if any instrument has its MIDI port set to all...why would that be? I have multi-instruments that have each channel going to 1 of 16, and there are some old icons in the environment of instruments no longer attached that say "All". Otherwise, seems fine.
Any ideas of whether this is my Logic environment setup or the faderport? The faderport by the way is set up and installed correctly.
    thanks!

update on this issue - I've found that the faderport can be installed and work without bottle-necking MIDI channel 1 and anything external that transmits on it only if it is installed while any external samplers are shut down and booted up after faderport installation.
however, the issue with it losing its connection to Logic quite frequently still occurs way too often making it too frustrating to use thus far- would love to know if anyone's figured out how to eliminate this problem and use the unit productively, because it has potential to be a great studio addition.
thanks, look forward to any feedback-

  • Metronome click issue with Logic 8

    Hello.
I'm having a strange issue with Logic 8 where the first click after hitting play or record is lower in volume than the rest of the clicks and sometimes isn't there at all - every subsequent click sounds fine. I have checked the metronome preferences and made sure the bar click is the same velocity as the beat click. I've double checked my entire configuration to see if there is a problem somewhere and everything seems to be right. I figured this might be just a bug but I wanted to post this to make sure.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Here is the configuration I'm working with which has all the latest drivers and updates:
Mac Pro 3.2 GHz 8-core Intel
    Mac OS 10.5.2
    14 GB RAM
    Logic Pro 8
    Apogee Ensemble
Trilogy with the Intel wrapper (this might be pertinent)

You need to add more RAM.

    HI,
If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)
Just a friendly advise and warning :-)

I am having issues with 360 degree rotation, I have an iPhone 5 and ios 6.0.2. I have read alot about this issue online and I found out that my issue is software. I want to know if and when apple will fix this issue?

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....

We had some accuracy issues with NI 5112 scope in one of the ATE and then I decided to perform self calibration using Labvidew vi to perform “niScope_CalSelfCalibrate(handle, "", 0);” function.
But it made it worse. I tried using option 2 to restore but it did not work.
Could you pls advice me to resolve this issue.

    Hi Ana10,
Are you using this digitizer with NI VideoMaster? if not you should probably post this in the Digitizer forums. That said I would suggest using the self calibrate function in MAX for this device rather than the LabVIEW API method just so that you can rule out any errors in correctly configuring the digitizer for self cal in LabVIEW. Also you should ensure that all inputs are disconnected before performing a self cal. If this still results in an error in calibration you could refer to the following document or arrange to return the digitizer to NI for external calibration.

  • Mavricks issues with Logic 9.1.8 and multiple dislays

I have graphical glitches every time i move my mouse from one monitor to the other. It seems to be an issue with the new way Mavricks works for adding wireless monitors and I can't turn its smart displays option off to rectify and revert to the way things were in previois versions od the O.S
A good example of this would be when i select my mixer on the right monitor then move to the left to adjust an EQ or filter.
Once i have adjusted the EQ/ filter it takes up to 5 seconds to respond graphically and audibly. somtimes it even locks play and pressing space bar has no effect at all. I never had this issue with Mountain lion and my machine is more than cpable of runningthe software as the CPU is not even over 1/5 cpacity. I also have 8GB ram so thats not the issue either.
Can anyone help am i doing somthing extrelemy stupid or just have bad luck? I'm really trying to avoid the "just get Logic X" option as many of my plugins wont work in 64 bit!

  • Ichat dropping out issue with Broadband Tuner?

    All,
I posted before when I was having this issue and Ralph suggested that since I had a FIOS connection and OS 10.3 I limit my bandwith to 100 in video preferences. That fix works(thanks Ralph), although my image is not as crisp.
Now I have 10.5.2 and downloaded the Broadband Tuner. Still have issue with Ichat just breaking down (running connection doctor show audio and video dropping off). I was wondering if I maybe need to do something else besides just install the Tuner? It came up with a successful install, but it seems like it is doing nothing?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
I see it says not for Airports at the bottom
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/broadbandtuner10.html
I don't know if this effect you.
I am not sure where to look on a Mac to find out if it is working or not.
I would recheck the Bandwidth option in iChat to see which works best for your try anything up to 500kbps.
Do you know if your Connection speed is varying greatly ?
This is the normal issue with FiOS.

  • Having a strange issue with Logic, don't know what to do.

Aright, so I'm having a really weird problem with Logic. It all started about 20 minutes ago. I'm working with 12 midi tracks; all logic instruments. Every first Snare midi note plays extra soft and then every midi note after that plays at its correct velocity. Don't know why. I tried deleting the note and pasting a new and that didn't work so I saved and quit. I then took a look in my console and this is what came up:

Why did you put up with all those issues for a year?

  • Power on-Power off issues with X200

I am having power up and power down issues with my Lenovo X200.
Prior to the immediate problem, I would experience occasional unexpected shutdown of the computer (I would hear a relay click when it happened), and on some occasions when I put it into hibernation, then power it back up later it would not resume, instead, it would restart with a new session of Windows.
About a month ago, it shut down while I was using it.  I powered it back on, but it took a long time (nearly a minute) to get the “ThinkPad” initial boot screen, then the screen would be blank for about a minute, then I would get a screen that read, “Intel Management Engine BIOS Extension v 4.0.4.0007” and also “M.E Initializing……”   That screen would show for about a minute, then I got another screen reading “Security chip is generating endorsement key pair.  Please wait.”  That screen would show for about 5 minutes, then it would read, “Generation failed!!!” for about 5 seconds.  After that, it would boot to Windows (I am using Windows 7 Professional).
When I would shut it down, either in hibernate mode or full shutdown, after the hard drive icon stopped flashing (indicating it had shut down), the power icon, battery icon would stay on, and the “sleep” icon would flash.  I would have to hold the power button down to turn those icons off; if I failed to do that the power would stay on until the battery completely drained.
I read something about the “Security chip is generating endorsement key pair” message so I went into BIOS and changed the security chip from “Active” to “Inactive”.  However, when I would start the computer with the chip “inactive”, it would go first to the initial boot screen, then to the “M.E. Initializing” message, then the screen would go blank and remain blank, not ever booting to Windows.  So I went back to BIOS and changed the security chip to “Disabled”.  With it disabled, it will boot up, but still is very slow booting and I still get that “M.E. Intializing” message for about a minute, and also I still have to hold the power button down to power down the computer after I shut it down (or hibernate) with Windows.
The good news is that, after this started happening, I have not encountered an unexpected shutdown nor has it failed to resume the previous windows session if I hibernate it.
Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for your help.

The difference may be that the G5 iMac bus (where your fire wire plugs into the back) is a powered bus. What this means is the LaCie drive will "sense" the power from the bus and not turn off. The power it gets from the fire wire bus however may (is) not be enough to actually operate it, only leave it on. You still need to the drive into a power outlet.
In the LaCie manual (CD that comes with drive) and the FAQ section of LaCie's web page it states this as well.
What I do is manually turn the drive on when needed (performing back up or for scheduled back up). The LaCie drive should be quiet when not in use as it has no fan.
PS - try SuperDuper for backups, much better (IMHO) than Silverkeeper.

  • Issue with logical operator using SetEnvIF in OHS

We have a requirement to set constant value in ssl.conf (OHS) based on Request_URI & referrer. For example, if (Request_URI=/forms/base/login) and (Referer=http://example.com), then we need to set variable value with 1. Similarly we some more conditions. I am trying to use 'SetEnvIf', but it is not allowing to use logical operations (and, or, &, |).
Can any let us know in resolving issues?

Just to confuse matters, this problem is intermittent and I haven't been able to successfully replicate it in our Test environment.
That would seem to indicate something else was going on in the DB that was interfering with the clear, but the logs aren't showing any errors, locks, etc that could have caused the problem.

  • Oxygen25 midi issue with Logic 9.1.8

Just recently bought a Oxygen25 midi keyboard controller and I'm running it on the latest macbook pro (10.8.2), with logic pro 9.1.8 - 32 bit. Everything functions on the midi keyboard expect the 8 controller Knobs, no matter what I do I can't get the knobs to recorded functions into Logic. I've download the latest directlink mode drivers and installed them correctly, I've gone into controller assignment window using learn mode button and assigned each knob to certain functions, cutoff, speed on ES2 synth. When you play the keyboard and turn the knobs the sounds work fine (no problem) but when I hit recorded the sounds play but will not record into logic. The pitch bend shows and works in the hyper editor and the All velocities but there's nothing coming through on the rest (Volume, Pan, Modulation, Ch. Pressure, Poly Program and Program.
I'm I missing something really simple here or does this keyboard just not work with logic ? I've been on M-audio website and there's no solutions, I've also looked on discussion board but had no luck. Any advice or help would be welcome, please help me get back into making some music.
Found this article on M-audio but not sure what it relates to - (These knobs map to control the track volume for the currently active bank of eight tracks)
    Thank-you
    Andrew

I'm having the exact same issue with the Multipressor in Logic (but not in Waveburner).  What gives?
