Drop Zone Template changes from 8 to 2 sec

Why does a template with a drop zone change the duration from the existing duration to 2 sec? I drop a picture into a drop zone either in the viewer or on the project window. Am I doing something wrong? Library selection/drag to viewer or project window/drop on drop zone.

Or is the the other slightly diferent one? The Moments1 template has been released as you can see from the above & got a good testing/bashing, so I know it works!!
Its a bit late here, so give me a few hours on Monday & I will test the Moments2 if you say its that one.

  • Motion Drop Zone template question

I am using a drop zone template to make a short promo video. I am trying to figure out how to transition from the drop zones flying in to open the video full screen to play. So the effect I want is a bed of music and the motion template flying in 6 drop zones. I want to see a drop zone expand into like a 20 second spot and then fly the drop zones again, pick a different one to expand into the full movie and so on. I have about 3 minutes to make this promo. I am using Final Cut Studio 3 and Motion 4.
What behaviors is there in Motion to do this or do I need to just bring in the motion file into FCP and use some sort of transition there?
    Jeff

Which template are you trying to use?
I'd maybe do it this way...
    1. Create the project in Motion using a frame that is twice the size of your editing format in FCP. If you're editing DV in FCP, use one of the HD templates. If you're using HD in FCP, you'll need to change the properties of the project to about 2160 pixels high. but the dropzones should be able to hold a full size clip.
    2. Render it all out full size.
    3. Import it into FCP and drop it into your timeline, set it to 25% or 50% scale, don't let FCP scale it to fit the sequence.
    4. You will be able to use the scale and position (center) keyframes to zoom in on any single dropzone to fill the frame at 100%.
That's just one of many simple ways to do this without using a camera in the template. If you're new to Motion, save that for a later project.
Mark or others will have more interesting suggestions later.

  • Changing Drop Zone Template

I am using DVD Studio Pro 4.0.3 and I'm relatively new to it. I am working on a project and realize that since I do not have motion yet, I cannot edit templates. I am trying to use the template "Wedding" and having some trouble. I like how it looks (i need the project to look professional) but when I drag my content to the three drop zones that are on the cover page, I get run into a problem. I need the three items to be in color and the left and right items are not. When I change the style of the drop zone I get a color image, but now when the template starts the animation, it is in front of the line that draws across the page in the first 6 seconds.
I see there are two solutions to this but I do not know how to do it and I have tried to find out on the discussion boards here.
Solution 1: I find a way to change the inherent properties of the imagine from black&white to color.
Solution 2: I change the beginning of the slide to take out the line drawing across and instead use the wedding template slide transition from the QuickTime movie that is set to "first play".
There are other possible solutions but the first one I have layed out would be the best. If anyone could please help me I would be able to get this project finally over. Thank you.

  • I've encountered problems with drop zones in generators from Motion 5 toFCP X 10.0.7.

The clips won't import properly and come up as stills rather than videos. In one of my generators (with three drop zones) only one will display the clip - the other two play as stills (frozen?). I've tried having the playhead parked at the start of the clip when adding them to the generator, but it produces the same results.
    Any solutions?

I've had this too and the fix then was to delete my project render files (FCP that is).

  • CISCO SAN MDS: zone mebership changed from fcalias to simply PWWN

I am not sure when it happened. It could be related to ISLing 2 switches together. But 99% of my zones which were fcalias based zones are now showing up without fcalias
    This is an example
    #show zone
    zone name X1 vsan 2
      pwwn 21:00:00:1b:32:94:ed:06
      pwwn 50:06:01:6a:44:60:0e:5c
New zones are showing up OK like below
    zone name X2 vsan 2
      fcalias name a1 vsan 2
        pwwn 50:01:73:80:2f:c2:01:82
      fcalias name a2 vsan 2
        pwwn 50:01:73:80:2f:c2:01:72
    What happened?

    Hi,
Notice the difference in the full zoning database and the active zoning database below.
The full zoning database contains the fcalias'es and the active zoneset does not.
When the copy command is issued, there is a warning.
The best way to recover is to restore from your backups.
Another alternative is to use Device-aliases instead, which does not have this limitation.
    MDS# show zoneset v 99
    zoneset name zs99 vsan 99

WARNING: This command may overwrite common zones in the full zoneset. Do you want to continue? (y/n) [n]
It overwrote the alias zoning with pwwn zoning.

  • Address bar drop down randomly changes from large block to compressed ones. How do I change it back?

I woke up the other morning and the drop down for my address bar, which had previously had a generous block for each address in memory, had changed. All of the block for remembered addresses had been compressed to half the size they originally were. I tried changing settings, and when that didn't fix it, I switched themes.
It was fixed for a time, but did it again earlier today. I haven't altered any settings, so I don't know why it's doing this. I'd like to get it back to normal, because the compressed block are annoying, and harder to read.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    As above title sorry.

Turns out I'm going to have to BUY iLife '11 (from Best Buy) because the download version on Apple's site is for those with Lion only and I have Snow Leopard. This is becoming a major PAIN. Apple shoudl continue to offer its older products online at least (if not in their stores) rather than just dropping them completely.

  • Why do my templates change from page to page?

I hope this is a basic questions...
If I create a template using rows and colums on page one and copy and past the contents to a second page, the content will move. Is there a way to anchor the columns and rows so they do not move? It's been driving me crazy.
    Thanks much

No i have not done that.......I will try! Thanks. I have read where a few post say try removing a screen protector to clean. I do not have one but I did get a new screen due to me carrying it in my bag and the corner cracked a bit. Could the new screen be the problem??

  • How to remove iDVD Template Drop Zones?

Hi! I'm looking to remove all drop zones from iDVD to have a simple black background that could be replaced with a .mov file.
Essentially, I'd like to remove the 3 drop zones from the "Modern" 7.0 theme.
Please let me know if this is possible, thanks!
    Alex

This is from iDVD Help: _Adding or hiding drop zones_
The drop zones in a theme are a permanent part of the graphics or animations included in that theme. Therefore, you can’t add drop zones, delete individual drop zones, or change the location of drop zones on a menu. You can, however, hide all the drop zones on a menu so that they don’t appear in your final project. This is particularly helpful when you want to create a simple custom theme.
To hide all drop zones on a menu screen:
Make sure the menu whose drop zones you want to hide is showing in the iDVD window.
With your pointer over the menu, press Command-I to open the Menu Info window.
Deselect the “Show drop zones and related graphics” checkbox.
The drop zones immediately disappear from the menu, and they do not appear in your final burned project. Some other graphical elements may also be hidden.
You can always show the drop zones and ornaments again after you’ve hidden them. Simply open the Menu Info window and select the “Show drop zones and related graphics” checkbox.
To replace the background, open the menu info window. For full directions, go to iDVD Help, and look up _Changing the background image of a DVD menu_.
    I hope this helps.

  • Drop Zone Image Adjustment in iDVD '08

I use iDVD 6 for making slideshow DVDs of family functions to send out to my other family members. One of the features that I used in every one of my projects was the ability to drag around any image that you place in the Drop Zone that has been automatically cropped, so that you can pick which part of the image you want to be visible.
In iDVD '08, however, this feature has been removed. What's worse, some of the new themes (Modern, for instance) crop the majority of the images you place into the Drop Zone. I find virtually every new theme in iDVD '08 unusable because of the removal of this feature.
I tried using an old theme from iDVD 6, but I was also unable to adjust the location of my images in relation to the drop zone.
Am I just doing something wrong? In both the toturial vid and the manual, Apple makes no mention of adjusting an image once it's inside the Drop Zone.
In the meantime, I am reverting to iDVD 6. I don't understand why they would remove a feature that was so useful.

*Here's the whole explanation from iDVD Help:*
Repositioning an image or movie in a drop zone
When you drag a picture or movie into a drop zone, the aspect ratio of the image is preserved, but it is scaled larger or smaller to fill the drop zone. As a result, sometimes part of the image is cut off and does not appear in the drop zone. In this case, you can move the image to choose which portion is visible in the drop zone.
_To reposition an image or movie in a drop zone:_
1.) From the drop zone on the menu (not in the drop zone editor), click the image or movie and press Command.
2.) Drag the image until the part you want is visible in the drop zone.
Keep these things in mind as you position an image:
If you drag a narrow image to a drop zone, the image is scaled vertically, and you can move the image up or down only.
If you drag a wide image to a drop zone, the image is scaled horizontally, and you can move the image side to side only.
If you accidentally drag the image too far, you will remove it from the drop zone. (The cursor changes from a hand to a puff of smoke.) Choose Edit > Undo to restore the image to the drop zone.
Repositioning a movie in a drop zone is different from selecting which part of a movie shows in a drop zone (which allows you to select which frame of the movie is displayed in a drop zone). For more information, see Related Topics below.

  • Resize Pictures for Drop Zone?

I read a thread from about a year ago that brought up resizing images to get them to fit in a drop zone correctly. I just started using idvd and just ran into this problem, and it truly annoys me that Apple wouldn't allow resizing and image within idvd to get it to fit, or drag what part of the image shows in the drop zone...
Anyone have a solution, or is this still a "pay to get it" type of thing with pro tools...

So what you really need is to reposition the image within the drop zone (as opposed to resizing) .... is this correct?
If so, have you already tried holding down the control key as you click and drag the image to the desired position?

  • Forever Theme Frames around drop zone pictures - can I remove them?

I'm using the forever theme. There are frames around drop zone photo's - not buttons. I've tried hitting the buttons bar with the drop zone highlighted and clicking the none button - but it stays with a white boarder around it. So - i looked in the theme contents - but I don't find anything that looks like a white frame... I checked out the plist file -and it looked all compiled - funny script and all - any way to eliminate these frames? I use a lot of transparent gifs for the purpose that I don't want a frame around them - so they just float over the background.

    Does this help?

  • Drop-Zones Resizing Images

I'm new at this so bear with me if this is a stupid question.
I'm producing a DVD for a recent graduation ceremony and would like to include still images of the printed program as a menu option. I've created the menus, scanned and finished the images in Photoshop. It seems that whenever I add these pictures to drop-zones they are too large to fit the frame. When I resize the images in Photoshop and make the drop zones bigger, the images continue to be resized and the full image is not displayed. Is there any way to lock the size of an image as well as the aspect ratio?
    Thanks in advance.

to add an image as a drop zone:
drag image from asset tab on to menu editor and select - create drop zone from the pop up
    to resize a drop zone:
    drag corner or side handle
to resize drop zone maintaining aspect ratio:
    shift drag corner handle
    move asset within drop zone:

  • Scripting video in drop zones? possible? necessary?

is it possible to have different video play in a drop zone when a viewer returns to the menu. is this something that can be scripted? Or do i have to create a separate menu for each diferent piece of video in the drop zone and assigne that menu as the return point for the next menu with a different video in the drop zone at the time of returning from the end of a chapter? what do you think?
    -trevor

You can target loop point from the track and the drop zone will be the same length in - in other words lets say the drop zone is a 30 second clip and you set the loop point in the menu to 20 seconds into the menu if you target the loop point via a script as a return the drop zone will play from 20 seconds on (as will the rest of the menu)
But it is really not very elegent nor does it sound like what you want - each drop zone will have to be timed
    The script is
Jump Menu :: (Loop) //loop is a checkbox option in the inspector

  • Wronge clips in drop zones

When I drag a clip into the drop zone of a theme, a different clip appears and plays in it's place. I have tryed deleting the incorrect clip and drag and pasting again, but the same clip keeps comming up. An suggestions?

There's a bug. Instead of playing the clip you drop in the drop zone, iMovie plays from the beginning of that clip's media file.
As Matti suggested, the solution is to export the clip from the Timeline to a Full Quality movie, then import that movie to the project and drag it to the drop zone.
