Dropbox syncing conflicts iwork 2013?

Hello all,
I have been using dropbox to sync and share files with others for years. But recently since I updated to iwork 2013 from 09 version, I started to experience a repeated problem, which is very annoying. While I am working on a pages(or numbers) file saved in dropbox folder for a while, a warning window will pop up saying that, another program is using this file, and ask me if I want to "save anyway" or "revert". I first thought maybe it was a problem caused by sharing features, because the file may be in syncing on other people's computers, who are shared with this file. But then I found that, a file saved in my private dropbox folder will give the same warning too when I work on them. So I think it is a syncing conflict somehow caused by dropbox syncing and iwork apps.
This is a really annoying. Because everytime it broke the train of thoughts and I scratched my head to figure out how to make it go away with no success. If anybody could help me, it will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added a lot of bugs.

I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting for Apple to fix anything. It has only said it will do a very short list of fixes in the next 6 months and nothing else beyond that.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

  • Home Sync Conflict - Pages Documents

I'm getting Home Sync conflicts but only with documents created in Pages. Home Sync suggests I don't have sufficient privileges but I've confirmed this is not the case.
All other files sync correctly with the Windows 2003 Domain Controller hosting the home folder share.
I have Full Control permissions on my home folder and all sub objects.
Looking at the home folder from windows, Pages docs seem to be exist as a folder structure - is this be related to the issue?

If you sign up for a free iCloud account - your Pages documents will sync to that iCloud account - after you get everything set up. It does it automatically.
As far as the Mac - you could use the iCloud account to download those documents to your Mac, you can still use DropBox, or SugarSync cloud services or you can use file sharing - a feature of the iOS that has been available since version 4 I believe. If you use file sharing, you must connect your iPad to your computer - like we did in the good old days.
You can read this about file sharing.

  • Dropbox syncing to wrong folder

I have a dropbox account which syncs all my uploaded data to the Dropbox Folder in my home directory. However, recently I had changed the name of my home directory and dropbox syncs my uploaded data into the folder on the old home directory rather than to the dropbox folder in my new home directory. Can anybody help me with how to make dropbox sync the data into my new home directory? By the way, what I did in order to change my home directory name was I used this command in the terminal:
    sudo mv /Users/oldname /Users/newshortname
and then in "Users & Groups" in System Preferences I changed my home directory in Advanced Options under my name.

I think the Unlink This Computer button in Dropbox/Preferences/Account should remove it from the old account then Link should add it to the new account.

  • How do I merge contacts rather than replace them during sync conflicts?

I just got my iPhone 4 a few days ago, and the Verizon sales associate transferred the contacts from my previous phone.
Now, when attempting to sync via iTunes 10.4 (80), I'm given only three options after a sync conflict notification regarding contacts synchronizing: Sync Now, Sync Later, Review changes (or something like that): Rather than merge pre-existing Address Book contacts, it wants to override them, regardless of whatever information I already have in the Address Book, assigning the iPhone info priority (so any Address Book entries would just be overwritten).
Why is it doing this? It doesn't strike me as well-designed at all, especially since merging contacts seems a fairly common thing these days. An apparent work-around would be manually editing the ~30 contacts in Address Book, and then deleting each off my iPhone, but surely there's a better and faster way? Please help!
    Thanks for reading.

    Try linking cards:
Open any contact you want to merge, tap on Edit and look at the bottom part of it.  You'll find 'Link Cards' and from there you may select the contact you want to link with the one you're looking at. So if you have:
    Contact 1: John A (job)
Contact 2:  Business Name (who is also John A but you saved it as a different contact)
Contact 3: Something else that's also John A
You can link all three cards into one.  If you choose to, you may unlink them at any time, just tap Edit and then the red circle. Your contacts won't be deleted, but they won't appear under the same ID anymore.

  • ICal lost end dates and ∞ sync conflicts after iOS4 upgrade

After upgrading my sacrificial iPod 3 (I’m waiting to upgrade my main iPhone 3GS) and synchronizing it to my home MacBook Pro 2007 17", I got huge numbers of old repeating meeting which seem to have lost their end-date, e.g., “Palm-size PC Porting Lab” on June 28th this millennium, which I assure you is an error. I restored from a desktop backup, overwrote the iOS4 Calendar data, and synced again.
After that, I had a miserable day full of a dozen or so Resolve Sync Conflicts dialogs—sometime three or four in a row after a single, very slow, sync. Several times two sync processes used up all my real memory (using over a gigabyte, out of three) and once it even used up all my disk space (I had 29G free). I also had a few rounds of conflict on my work MacBook Pro 2009 13", synced via MobileMe.
Some historical notes: My calendar data is quite large, going back to Newton days via PalmOS, and iPhone OS 3 never handled it properly, e.g., both search and over-the-air sync are broken on my 3.1.3 iPhone. MobileMe sync data also gets corrupted every few weeks. And “Palm-size PC” was Microsoft’s court-ordered renaming of their trade-mark infringing Palm PC.
    Macaulay‘s Law of Software Upgrades:
“To think nothing of symmetry and much of convenience; never to remove an anomaly merely because it is an anomaly; never to innovate except when some grievance is felt; never to innovate except so far as to get rid of the grievance.”

Deleting my caches per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2481, and restoring and rebooting a couple of times, seems to have shut up the warnings, at least for now, but there's still some data loss, e.g., two meetings on 6/21 and 6/22 don't show up any more on my main Mac, but do show up on both my sacrificial iOS4 iPod, and my real 3.1.3 iPhone. (I’m also having trouble with a Note failing to sync from my iPad, but I haven’t tried that yet since nuking my caches.)

  • 'Sync conflicts' with Outlook after upgrading to iTunes 7.4

Since upgrading to iTunes 7.4 2 days ago I now receive a 'sync conflict' error with entries on Outlook calendar when syncing the iPhone. It allows me to view each conflict but I cannot see any differences between the entries that are apparently conflicting.
I can continue and all seems fine, but it happens every time I sync.
    Has anyone else seen this?
    Thanks
    Rixta

It is possible to get iTunes 7.4 working with Outlook 2002, in spite of Apple saying that they don't support it. I posted it as Solution to Syncing with Outlook XP (Outlook 2002.)
Just save the following file from your current installation of iTunes 7.3 (you can copy and paste it to your Windows desktop):
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\SyncServices\Clients\com.apple.Outlook\Contents\Windows\
    com.apple.Outlook
Then be sure you have a current backup of your Outlook.pst file.
Upgrade to iTunes 7.4.3.1, and connect the iPhone. Open the Info tab in iTunes, and check the boxes and use the pull down menus to select Outlook for contacts, calendar and mail. You should then have no problem syncing to the iPhone.
Too bad about the loss of the music you purchased, I would suggest you call Apple and have them give you a credit, as they created the loss through their either accidental or intentional modification of iTunes (actually Apple Mobile Device Support.)

I am sorry to have to reference you to these materials:

You will notice that Outlook 2013 does not appear in any of that. Which means it is not supported. Which means it cannot be expected to function.
    Again, sorry.

  • ITunes sync with Outlook 2013 preparing to sync runs forever

iTunes sync with Outlook 2013 preparing to sync runs forever, what is the problem?

I have updated addresses and names in the iPhone. When I sync with Outlook it takes the updated name portion, but does not pick up the address from the iPhone. The Whitepages app (pretty handy app) will update my iPhone contact list, but I cannot then transfer that information over to my Outlook contact list. This all needs to work together. Solutions?

  • Missing sync, pocket PC, and sync conflicts--just doesn't work

Anyone with experience using missing sync with pocket PC would be greatly appreciated. I simply can't get this to work right. I constantly get the same "sync conflicts" I resolve them only to have them pop right back up--even before I try to sync again. This also immediately crashes iCal. So now I'm pretty much unable to use iCal. It's getting to be a crisis. Sometimes I can do a hard reset on my handheld and things will run smoothly for about 2 or 3 syncs then it gets all screwy again. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Sync conflict with contacts

Which do I choose (address book or iPhone contacts) when I have a sync conflict with my contacts after downloading new iPhone OS?

On the same page it also says Facebook integration is coming this fall. We are all waiting.

  • Calendar Sync Conflicts with Blackberry Desktop v7.1

Since upgrading to Desktop v7.1 I have been receiving "silly" messages for conflicts that I need to resolve. The reason I say there are "silly" is that it seems the conflict notification  is looking only at the subject/description. When  have more than one item of the same name it is reported as a conflict even though the  times are different and do no overlap and the contained notes are definitely not identical.
It would be great to have better intelligence than this. If only the subject line is the same and everything else  is different then they are two different entries! )
** Also -  the idea behind the new sync conflict format is great but the display is ridiculously compressed. It should be expanded (or be expandable) to an adequate size to view the conflict info. **
Am I missing a setting or something for conlfict resolution?
    Thanks!!

    BTW.
Software is latest version, I think...

  • Sync center issue in Windows 7: sync conflict zeroing out remote file

    Hi,
I'm using Windows 7 RTM Prof Eng x64 on my laptop, and I'm making available offline a folder on a remote share with Offline files. The remote share is hosted on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Ent Eng x86 server. The server is a domain controller, but the laptop is not joined to the domain. The remote folder is like 320 MB, mainly images, doc, pdf and xls files.
Synching is usually working, but sometimes I observe the following: I modify a file on my machine, and later Sync center reports a sync conflict, although nobody else modified the remote file. When I check the remote file, it is full with NULLS, e.g. if it is a doc file, it opens as a lot of empty pages.
I used the same setup with Windows Vista without problems, it just started to occur when I switched to Win 7.
I could not reproduce the issue, but the problem could be related to the network setting:
    - it is something like: laptop ---|public network|--- server ---|private network|
    - I usually access the server from the laptop on a public network with just its netbios name, i.e. \\server. But from this network it is also accessible from \\server.domain.com and \\server-public-ip The small sync icon appears near the folder name only when I view it as \\server, and not in the other two cases.
    - when I connect to with WLAN, then the laptop is connected to the private network. Here the server is accessible via \\server-private-ip or \\server.domain2.local. When I open \\server only the offline folder is visible (the server is also a firewall, which blocks SMB going out to the public network).
    - the clocks of the two machines are not synchronized, but the difference is below 10 seconds
I could understand a sync conflict or not detecting that the local and remote file are the same, but the zeroing out the remote file part is quite mysterious. Have anyone seen something like that?
    Thanks for the help,
    Zoltan

    Hi,
Did you find a solution to this issue? We are experiencing the same.
We have had users reporting that they have created a word doc whilst on the network. Saved it, then logged off and taken their laptops home. Worked on the file for a few hours, with several saves, closes and reedits. Then finally saved the file, logged off.
When returning to work and logging in whilst connected to the network the file then becomes 0KB. The file appears to be unrecoverable as backups are only of the server version. There is no previous versions recorded and the last edited is the data of the
original blank file. It would appear that the server version (Older) is overwriting the Local cached version (Newer).
This is obviously causing some serious issues for staff who have lost hours of work done at home. Has anyone else experienced this.
Servers run Windows 2008 R2, Clients Windows 7 Professional. Offline Files setup by Group Policy.

  • Iphone 6 not syncing with outlook 2013 correctly

Just got the new iPhone 6 and syncing with outlook 2013 is not working.  No contacts are coming over.  Calendar comes over only partially.  Music and apps work fine.  The settings in itune are the same as with the old iPhone 4 but maybe there is some setting to change on the phone.  I'm on a window 8.1 pc and not using icloud.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

In Outlook 2013, I navigated to "People" and copied the contacts that I wanted to sync from the "Contacts" folder to the "Search Results" folder (<ctrl>+[drag and drop] to folder in left hand Folder pane).
iTunes then synchronised those contacts (only) fine.

  • Sync conflict message

    Hi.
I have a Macbook Air, running 10.9.5. I do not use iCloud and my iPhone 6 Plus is not set to sync over wireless. Nevertheless, I am continually getting a message pop up on my laptop screen, telling me there are 57 sync conflicts, inviting me to review now or later. If I look at them, they are calendar items (the ones I looked are are five years old).
I have not yet been through and resolved them as I would like to understand first what's going on, but I am completely stumped! iTunes isn't open, my iP6+ is not physically connected to the laptop...
Any suggestions will be gratefully heard.
    Jacqui

Hey guys thanks for the input. Do you guys think it's something wrong at .mac? It can't all just be coincidence that we have the same problem can it? Are any of you getting syncing problems now? Like usually when I change a file in my local idisk it syncs it automatically. But when I tried it tonight it wouldn't sync. I did what you guys said. Stopped syncing in preferences and then restarted and then turned it on again.
