Dropdown menus not showing in IE6 or 7

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you wizards can help me out here!
For some reason the main horizontal javascript navigation bar in my company's website (created with DW) does not show up in IE6 or IE7. It is fine in IE8, Firefox and Google Chrome. The web address is www.sayersb.co.uk. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to take a look and let me know what you think. I can let you have the CSS file details if you need. Additionally, the menu in the left column extends way too far across the page in IE6 and I'm not quite sure how to fix that bug. I'd be really grateful for some pointers so I can finish off the site.
Many thanks.

Hi,
to: "the menu in the left column extends way too far across the page".
Did you already search in your really large "mainNav.css" for the attributes of your <div id="leftCol"> and <div id="navcontainer">.
The other possibility is, of course, to ask the people of MMMenu.

    missing Quick/Guided/Effects menus in Editor

    It's Windows...when I click on any of the tabs, Guided, Effects, etc, it's blank (black background).  It usually has the thumbnails, for example, under Effects, 'neon' 'sketch'   all that is gone.  A pop up shows up & states the Help content is missing & I might have to re-install.

    Do you mean you can't see the words Full/Quick/Guided under the Edit tab? (There are no menus there.)  Is the Edit tab active and not Create or Share? Windows or Mac?

  • Dropdown menu not showing entries

    Hello. I created a fillable form in Acrobat XI using text boxes, check boxes, and dropdown menus. The first issue is when the form is opened on a tablet running Windows 8.1 and using Acrobat Reader XI, the fields are not highlighted. The second issue (bigger one) is when the form is emailed from the tablet and opened on my laptop in the office, none of the dropdown menu fields are not populated at all. I have Acrobat Pro XI on the Windows 8.1 laptop. The text boxes and check boxes work fine. When I open the saved file in the tablet, the dropdown menus are populated.
    Interestingly, when the form is filled out, saved, and emailed from a Mac, the dropdown menus and check boxes work fine, but the entries in the text boxes are blank unless I click the field. Then they only show up until I click out of it.
    Any suggestions on how to fix these issues would be greatly appreciated.

    The problem with the ones you received from the Mac user is they used the Preview application, as opposed to Adobe Reader. Preview currupts PDFs in a number of ways and this behavior is an indication that it's corrupted. You can open the file in Acrobat, export the form data to FDF/XFDF, and import the from data into a blank, non-corrupted version of the form.
    Regarding the problem with the dropdowns when saved from the tablet, can you post a smaple form somewhere so we can take a look?

    HELP!!

    I was referring to the second page in my above post.
    I disabled JavaScript as a test after loading the page with JavaScript enabled and that worked.<br />
    I also get the selects to open if I right-click instead of left-click the select.<br />
    That way the select get selected (shows a focus ring) and after that left-clicking works as well .
    This assumes that JavaScript is monitoring the left-click, but that script no longer works properly.

  • SUB SUB Menus Not Showing In IE

    For the first time I put a sub, submenu (if that is what you call it) in my Spry Menu and it does not show in IE.  Firefox it works fine, but IE it does not show up.  The main item on the menu bar is there, then when you scroll over this main item, its submenu shows, but then when you scroll over this submenu, it's sub submenu does not show in IE.
    Anyone know how to resolve this problem and make it show up?  Many thanks.
    Blake

    Well, I figured out where the problem is.  It has to do with the filter: alpha(opacity=92) in the following section of code:
    /* Submenus should appear below their parent (top: 0) with a higher z-index, but they are initially off the left side of the screen (-1000em) */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0;
        list-style-type: none;
        font-size: 100%;
        z-index: 1020;
        cursor: default;
        width: 8.2em;
        position: absolute;
        left: -1000em;
    /* for IE */
      filter:alpha(opacity=92);
        /* CSS3 standard */
      opacity:0.92;
    If I remove the opacity, then the level 2 submenu shows up, but then the opacity is gone.  I would like to keep the opacity.  Trying to figure out what I can do now to keep the opacity and have level 2 submenus show in IE as well.  Any ideas?

  • Xp home and IE already installed. Added firefox and javascript dropdown menus not working at all. Help please

    I installed firefox on my laptop, vista and IE installed, and as yet have no problems. I decided to install firefox on my desktop with XP home and IE installed and it has created a problem. Before installing firefox I had javascript dropdown menus on my web site which I build and upload to my isp. Now I cannot get the dropdown menus to run at all on my desktop. I tried uninstalling firefox but it still doesn't work. Help would be appreciated even to get back to how it was before installing firefox.

    Yes, there is a work around by doing a forced restore to a "new iPhone", and manually synching the apps, one by one. You still can't update or delete any of them without going through this again. The only real fix will be from Apple - hopefully in 2.1 which is rumored to be released later today...

  • Spry Bug? Background Colors/Images not showing in IE6/XpP

    I'm trying to wrap up my site for MiniMAX SE7EN (Cheap plug,
    it's on 6/26 in DC) and I've got a Spry Accordion Component I used
    in Dreamweaver CS3 to display all the speakers and then I switched
    the CSS file to allow for different colors and a background image
    to show through. Seems fine in Firefox and IE7 but in IE6 for PC's,
    it appears black and only black. Is this a Spry bug or something I
    screwed up with regarding the CSS?
    http://www.minimaxconference.com/

    I am having the same problems in IE7. I'm using the latest
    version of everything (Spry 1.6.1 and javascript file version 0.12)
    and at first I was having the problem on my drop down menus
    appearing horizontal with all the correct styles but when I changed
    the rule ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul to position: relative; the drop
    downs appear vertical now but I have no beige border around the
    whole ul anymore and I'm getting white space inbetween list items.

    so if anyone has any advice I'd much appreciate it. Also i'm

  • Help! iTunes menus not showing in readible words ...

    Hello,
    I am having problems with my iTunes. I have had it on my computer since I got a year ago. Suddenly about three weeks ago when I opened iTunes, the menus were all gone. Well I shouldn't say they are gone, they show up but they are not in English -- they just show as a lot of boxes. Every menu on the top as well as the submenus is just boxes. I am afraid to uninstall and re-install iTunes because I have a lot of playlists with 150+ songs on them, which will take a long time to reproduce. Any help?? I don't appear to have a virus (I've run Norton twice) and I haven't had any problems with anything else -- just iTunes. I can't read anything to make any changes within the actual program. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

    okay ... it's possible that your itunes language settings have been changed to a language that your PC doesn't have a character set for. try navigating to the change language settings using the instructions from this post:

  • Dropdown menus not working on website.

    I have created a wonderful new website for a client using Muse and he has seen the site via Business Catalyst and is thrilled with it. However, when I uploaded it to his web server none of the drop-down submenus are appearing - but they do in Business Catalyst. I have noticed they do not appear in preview mode either (I didn't pay much heed at the time). All of the links to the pages are set at either 'include page with hyperlink' or 'include page without hyperlink' - depending on what was required by the client. Can anyone give me a clue as to why the submenu's aren't showing up?

    Hi Gaurav
    Thank you so much for taking the trouble to help me but I seem to have solved it. The client has an account with 'Clicky Analytics' and I had  put a html code to the site within the master page of the site I was building. This was (somehow) preventing the drop down menus from working. I took the master page to pieces and then added each element back in - and when I added 'Clicky' the menu stopped working again.
    So I hope that this solution helps anyone else who has a problem. It could be caused by a code to another site.
    Thank you again for all your help

  • Menus Not Showing Under Site Manager?

    Here's a heads up to users of BC...
    Even some well known BC gurus didn't know this, so I thought I'd share it.
    After going slightly nuts trying to figure out why I couldn't see this "menu" button, I contacted support, and figured out why.
    For the record - I'm not using MUSE for this. And - This is my first BC site, so I'm learning a few tricks as I go on.
    All I wanted to do was customise a template a bit, and change the menu to reflect the pages in that template that I wanted to show...
    - nothing unusual in that right?
    Wrong.
    Here's why:
    If you have set up a trial site on the lowest webBasics plan (using a template) and want to EDIT the menus, it's not going to happen. Because you won't see the menu function (as in the following diagram)
    On the adobe sales page for BC hosting:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/business-catalyst/buying-guide-subscriptions.html
    It says that there is a dynamic menu builder under WebBasics+ or above.
    SO, what I suggest you do is this:
    BEFORE YOU CREATE A TRIAL SITE:
    If you want to edit the menus, you NEED to have more than a simple "WebBasics" hosting plan, otherwise the "menus" function won't show on the left hand side...
    ...And if you inadvertently do this, there is no way you can upgrade it from your BC partner admin.
    If you want to edit dynamic menus that come with a template, you must have Web Basics+ as the hosting option FIRST, and then you can manually request support to "downgrade" the hosting plan to WebBasics... after you've edited the menus...
    Unbelievable, but true!!
    I was gobsmacked that I couldn't do such a simple thing as alter a menu on the lowest hosting plan.
    Anyway - That's taken HOURS of my time, I could have built this whole site from scratch multiple times over not using BC...
    ..But I'm commited to learning how this beast works!! :-)
    Cheers
    Dave

    Yes, this kinda really shocks me that menus are not avaiable? Even the lowest of low plans likely need some sort of menu to get from page to page.
    I hope that was just an oversight and menus will be added to the lower plans. Any plan or site that has pages needs a menu.
