Droplet not working

Hi people,
I am new to photoshop and was trying to create a droplet. I manage to create a droplet(resizing of image) from the various tutorials but it does not seem to work.
I saved the droplet in the my desktop and whenever i drag an image over it, it just open the photoshop program.
But within the photoshop program, if i open an image and 'play' the action, it run to what i expect it to.
My current system is as follows:
Windows 7 64-bit
Adobe CreateSuite 4 Web Premium
Any help will do. Thanks in advance

Maybe you both should, if not already done, write a e-mail request/bug report to adobe to help them find a solution for Windows 7. This is a user to user forum and they will not know you are having problems. Here is the link.

  • Acrobat XI droplets not working in Acrobat DC and Preflight profiles gone

I can't find any of the custom preflight profiles from Acrobat XI in the newly installed Acrobat DC. Are they gone (deleted)?
I expected them to be upgraded... not to be removed without any notice.
Also preflight droplets no longer work. Dragging and dropping a file on a droplet made in Acrobat XI: it seems to load for 5 seconds, but nothing happens.
Should I tell our customers to keep Acrobat XI, and not upgrade to DC, or is there an easy way to upgrade Acrobat IX droplets (and preferably also keep any profiles)?
This is on Windows, I've not tested on mac.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
As co-existence of A11 and ADC on the same system is not supported so its not expected for the older droplets to work with the newer version.
I checked with Acrobat 10 created droplets with Acrobat 11 and wasn't able to make it work either.

  • Droplets not working

    Hi all,
I am running CS2 on Windows 7 and I have created a droplet. These droplets do not work. I drag files on to them, PS gains focus and the icon flashes briefly in the task bar but the file does not open. If I right click on the droplet and change compatibility to XP2 and run as administrator then the droplet works but each time I drag a file onto the droplet the screen dims and confirms I want to allow changes to be made. This goes away if I set my UAC setting to minimum but I'd rather not do that.
Has anyone found a way to make droplets work with Photoshop under Windows 7?
    Thanks for any help,
    Phil

Most certainly not a LR-specific problem. Might be an issue with
different versions of PS which had/have been installed on your system.

  • Droplets not working PS CS4

I have created droplets for Noiseware actions in PS CS4. When I try to run the action either by dropping images directly onto the droplet on the desktop, or by trying an export action from Lightroom (which is what I really want to do), I get a Microsoft Windows pop up box with the message "Adobe Photoshop Droplet has stopped working".
I have also tried changing the compatibility of the droplet to run as administrator, I then get a different error message, which says, "Droplet couldn't communicate with Photoshop".
Have also tried creating droplets for other simple actions other than Noiseware, with the same results.
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Rob
    Dell XPS420 Quad Core 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, Windows Vista 32-bit SP1, PS CS4 and Lightroom 2.1

I have have created a droplet in Ps5, and when I tried running it in Lr3 and I kept prompted with a dialog box stating "droplet couldn't communicate with photoshop" after googling for a while I clicked on a link that pointed me to this forums, after reading OscylO and some of the above comments, I came out with a more detailed solution below:
After creating the droplet ".exe" file, for example MyPsDroplet.exe
Locate the droplet file I have just created with Windows Explorer
Right-click on that file and select "Properties"
A dialog box will appear with the title MyPsDroplet.exe
Checks the checkbox that stated "Run this program as an administrator" and then the "OK" button (as highlighted below)
And when I run my droplet again (made sure that Ps is not running or it must "Run as administrator"), the "User Account Control" dialog box will appear, asking my permission if it is to continue executing my MyPsDroplet.exe droplet, and I simply click on the "Yes" button, and "Wah-La!" my droplet is working again, in Windows 7 with UAC enabled.

  • Droplet not working correctly in Lightroom 4 Export

Having finally found time to understand how droplets created in Photoshop work I realised I could save a huge amount of time by integrating droplets into my workflow through the Lightroom export dialogue.
I will not regail you with the hassle I had with CS6 creating droplets to start with. My question here is how to get LR4 to export and run the droplet correctly. My export preset is set up to do the following.
Export the selected file (RAW files chosen in my instance) to a subfolder named Processed.
Save those exported files as PSD at full resolution and with -processed added at the end of the file
Run a droplet that I created and placed in the export actions folder on the newly created files.
Import the resultant files back into lightroom
Using some test images I was able to watch as the images were exported and photoshop CS6 ran the action on the files and closed them off. When I checked the images in lightroom however there was no sign of the action having run! I opened the files up in Photoshop to confirm this (The action should have created a number of layers)
I wasted the best part of a morning trying various droplets and droplet settings to no avail. It was only when i went into Bridge, to test the droplet from there, that I suddenly discovered what had happened. The droplet had run and the revised file had been created. Unfortunatley instead of saving the revised PSD file over the original in the subfolder it had in fact saved it back with the RAW files in the original root folder. Of course there was no way of realising this in lightroom unless I decided to sync that folder, which I had no cause to do.
I have gone over the setting in Lightroom and I'm convinced it should do what I am expecting. All the books state that Post processing is carried out after the files have been created so should be carried out on the files in their new location. It apears however that LR4 is carrying out this process DURING export so causing the droplet to save into the original folder location. Not what I want and totally useless to me.
In terms of the droplet and action. The droplet was set to save and close. I did originally have a save command in the action, as instructed in tutorials, but removed it to see if that was causing the problem. Neither option made any difference to the problem.
To me it does seem there is a bug in Lightroom 4 but i have not found anyone else reporting this problem so am I missing something or not interpereting the export functions correctly?

    You cannot go back.
Have you tried a reset, restore to address your issue?

  • Droplets not working :( LR, Photoshop CS4, Windows 7

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get my computer back to how it was before I installed Windows 7 and there's one thing I can't get working: my sharpen droplets, created in CS4.
Before they would all work (in LR2 and LR3beta) but now they won't work.
    I've tried this process:
1.)  Open the Control Panel / User Accounts / Change User Account Control settings
2.)  Drop the slider bar all the way to the bottom to "Never Notify"
3.)  Open Photoshop and create your droplets
4.)  Right-click on each droplet and select "Properties"
5.)  Click on the "Compatibility" tab
6.)  Check the "Run this program as an administrator" box
7.)  Click "Change settings for all users"
8.)  Check the other "Run this program as an administrator" box
9.)  "OK" to exit both windows
    10) Go back to the Control Panel / User Accounts / Change User Account Control settings
11.) Slide the bar back to where you had your security settings (usually at the default setting)
    11) Restart Photoshop
However, while it will now at least RUN the droplet from within LR (ie. it will boot Photoshop), it now comes up with an error "feather command not available" while trying to run it. I don't even use feather in the actio! All it does is a duplicate layer smart sharpen, convert to profile, a save and a close.
Does anyone have any idea? It's SO annoying...
Thanks in advance for any replies.
    Phil

That did it! Thanks so much! I thought I had tried that already, but it's definitely working now.

  • Droplets not working in CS2?

Hi all, I have a bunch of droplets set up for my CS2 Photoshop and now that I have Windows 7 they just don't work. I drag a file onto the droplet and the PS icon on the Windows toolbar glows a few times but the file doesn't open. Any ideas? Thanks for any thoughts.
    Phil

I should add that this happens if I drag an image onto a droplet it does not open. If I drag an image onto the Photoshop icon on the desktop it does. I have ACDSee set up with External Editors to open in PS, use droplets etc and none of those work (all bring about the glowing icon on the task bar) but I also have an ACDSee External Editor set to open files in Corel PhotoPaint and that works fine. Images exported from Lightroom also open fine in PS. So the behavior is not exclusive to ACDSee or the OS.

  • Panic! Transmit - Save as Droplet not working as expected

I have downloaded Panic!'s Transmit FTP program from the App Store and although there isn't anything "wrong" with the application itself there seems to be a very frustrating bug with my system.
The application has the ability to save server settings as a droplet in a folder on the hard drive. This is essentially a little script that opens Transmit and connects to FTP without entering further information.
Unfortunately the icons for these droplets are not those that are supposed to come with the app and look more like apple script scrolls. The droplets also seem to save with a little "do not enter" overlay on the icon.
When attempting to open them the system gives me the "you are attempting to open an application that you downloaded from the internet" alert.
I find this behaviour extremely unusual.
I have already contacted Panic and they have never seen this happen before.
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled. I have uninstalled completely using CleanMyMac and via the terminal. I have also deleted all the iCloud backups for Transmit still nothing seems to improve.
If anyone has any idea of why this might be happening with an App Store app I would really like to know.

I have uninstalled completely using CleanMyMac
Do not use CleanMyMac.  It does more damage to your Mac and it's files than good.  See this topic: Removing CleanMyMac safely | Apple Support Communities
Have you tried downloading Transmit directly from the developer's site and see if it can create working Droplets which should look like this:
Sometimes the App Store version of an app is not the same as that directly from the developer.
What version are you running?  I've got
    which runs fine on Mavericks.

  • CS3 droplets not working

I have recently purchased and installed CS3 Design Standard, and I can't get droplets working within Photoshop CS3. I'm running on WinXP SP2.
As an initial test, I followed the documentation, and created a droplet from an existing action that I knew worked when applied within Photoshop. To keep things simple, I chose destination "none", so in theory the modified image should remain open once it has been processed. The droplet was created without issue, and I got a "Process.exe" in the desired output folder.
When I drag and drop an image onto the droplet, Photoshop gains focus (when it is running), or starts (when it is closed), but then nothing happens!
I have tried a number of different actions, and a number of different source images, and no matter what I have tried, nothing happens once Photoshop has taken focus. I have checked the actions, and there is no "Open" command within them, so from what I've read, in theory, the droplet should open the image, then process it.
All the actions I have tried work fine if I already have an image open, and then apply them, so I know the actions should work.
I get no droplet errors, and no log file created when I specify a log location.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? When I simply double-click on the droplet, Photoshop gains focus, and nothing happens. So I'm thinking somehow the image filename isn't getting passed to the main program?
    Cheers,
    Ashton

OK, here's what I did. Please note that before installing CS3 for the first time, I uninstalled CS2, so my CS3 install was not simply an 'upgrade', in theory it was a clean install (though it's apparent that the system may not have been completely clean). I never used droplets in CS2, so I can't confirm that they worked previously.
    1) Uninstalled CS3 from Add/Remove Programs, including all user preferences and settings. This left me with nothing installed. At the end of the uninstall I let the computer reboot.
    2) Ran the DropletFixer.vbs script. When finished, it reported "0 errors found", so I guess it didn't do anything?
    3) Ran Registry Mechanic to help clear out unused registry entries. I noticed in the results there were a lot of entries related to Adobe products that it 'cleaned'.
    4) Rebooted the computer once more for good luck.
    5) Deleted the folder "Program Files\Adobe" and all remaining files and folders within it.
    6) Installed CS3 Design Standard from scratch, including all components.
    7) Rebooted the computer one final time.
    The end result?
    Droplets still don't work!
The only things that are different this time around (if my memory serves me correctly):
    1) Now, when I have Photoshop already open, and I drop an image file onto the droplet, Photoshop does not even gain focus like it used to. When Photoshop is not open, it opens and gains focus like it did previously, but nothing happens.
    2) The default droplet name is now "Untitled.exe" - I'm pretty sure it was "Process.exe" before the re-install.
I now officially give up. I'm not prepared to stuff around any more, especially when it takes more than an hour to do a re-install...
If someone comes up with a potential solution that doesn't involve a re-install I might try that, but for now, I've had enough. Droplets aren't important enough for me to go chasing around for days trying to solve this issue.

  • Lightroom Export Droplets not working on large exports...

I've been noticing that Lightroom will not run my droplet after export if I am exporting more than about 10 images at a time. If I only highlight about 10 images and then export them, the droplet will run fine. But if I highlight all the images, or even 20 of them for export then Lightroom just doesn't run the droplet afterwards.
Has anyone else seen this? For now I have given up and just run the batch job from within Photoshop.
    I'm using Windows XP SP2.

It's down to the total length of file+folders names that can be passed via the command line.
To maximize the number of files that the droplet runs, export to a root folder such as D:\ - it keeps the total path name short.

  • Action & Droplet "save as" vs "save as web" not working - Possible bug?

Before I state the issue, I am running the latest updates and have tried this in Photoshop CS4 & CS5.
I believe this is a bug in Photoshop, unless someone can get this Action & droplet to work right.
    Here's the issue:
I create an Action with the "Save as Web & Devices" and save the image as a PNG. Then create a Droplet and set the destination as "Folder" with a destination different from the source file, and check Override Action "Save As" Commands and use File Naming with Document Name + _H50 + extension (example: MyFile_H50.gif). The file naming convention I made doesn't carry over to the processed images.
However this droplet will work with the Action when I use the "Save As" command, but not the "save as web & devices" option. Has anyone came across this issue or know how to fix it?
The difference between "save as" and "Save as web" is a 3kb files size plus the "_H50" naming convention is not used.
Here's a detailed process of my action and creation of the droplet:
    CREATION OF ACTION:
1.) I have a .TGA file open with alpha channel layer.
2.) I set the selection to the alpha channel, go back to the layers panel, double click layer, Set backgound to Layer 0, Inverse the selection, delete the background, trim image to transparent pixels, change image size to a fixed height of 50 pixels.
Here's the variable step that works or doesn't work depending if I choose "Save as" or "Save as Web & Devices"
3.) File > "Save as Web & Devices", save image as PNG w/ alpha, and select my "processed images" folder & save, close original  image without saving.
    CREATION OF DROPLET:
1.) Save droplet location, Play action with include subfolders, Suppress file open options dialog, Suppress Color profile warnings.
    2.) Destination: Select a folder
3.) Use File Naming: Document Name + _H50 + extension
    4.) Save log errors.
Next I drag some images onto the droplet, it processes the images into the folder but doesn't use the File Naming convention.
Now, if I use the "save as" command in the action and create the droplet the same way, it works!
The difference between "save as" and "Save as web" is a 3kb files size plus the "_H50" naming convention is not used.
What the heck is going on? Please Help
    -Josh

The following example action and droplet may give you
an idea how to do this with one droplet.
The idea is to make an intermediate folder to save the renamed psds to.
Then use save for web to save the psds as pngs in a different folder.
    1. Make a folder to hold the psd files (temp psd in the example droplet)
    2. Open one of your targa files and record the steps to prepare your file
(loading the channel selection, trim, etc)
    3. Save your file as a psd.
    4. Now save the file using save for web to the folder where you want your
final pngs to be (saved for web in the example action) and don't change
    the file name when saving.
    5. Go to the folder where you saved the png using save for web and delete that file.
(so you don't get an overwrite message when using your droplet)
    6. When creating the droplet, specify the name you want the saved pngs to be and
choose the destination folder where the psds will be saved. (temp psd)
The end result of all this, should save your files, renamed as psds (to a folder)
and save for web should save the renamed psds as pngs, to the place
you saved the file using save for web.
One drawback of all this, you end up with a folder full of psds.
You could just delete the psd files inside the folder after each run.

    Hope this helps.

  • Canon ScanLide 20 does not work under Snowleopard

I have a Canon ScanLide 20 USB and on the official Canon web site, the driver are not available for Mac OS X 10.6. I finished the complete passage to mac last month with an iMac 21,5" following a Macbook 13,1 unibody, now I am a fully Apple, but now I have some problem with this scanner, the problem with HP laserjet solved reading this forum.
please help me, I download the driver dor MAC OS X 10.4 and canon scantool box run but not perfectly, and the plug in does not work.
How can I solve this problem? who have some ideas?
    Thanks in advance for support!
    Stè

    Hello
My first guess is that an undocumented yet siginifcant change made in 10.6 betrayed your code in open handler.
Try replacing your open handler with this :
    on open my_files
    repeat with f in my_files
set f's contents to f as alias
    end repeat
-- orginal code in open handler here
    end open
*Replacement code has three-line repeat block at the beginning of open handler to gurantee the received list - my_files - to be an alias list.
If this change fix the problem, it should be Apple's fault to have let your script fail under new OS.
(Under every Mac OS prior to 10.6, open handler receives a list of alias object(s) from droplet mechanism, whereas under 10.6, it receives a list of some «class bmrk» object(s) of which details have not been documented (as far as I know). And in certain aspects, «class bmrk» object and alias object behave differently, which can break existing script's functionality.)

  • Auto save is not working

There is some problem after upgrade to Lion, Auto save version is not working in Iwork and anyone can fix it please advised. T.T

I have experienced projects not being auto save back-uped, and linked that to file structure problems (like I moved the project from the folder where it originally was created, or I changed the folders name where the Pr project was residing after starting it. I think that these things can lead the Auto-Save to get confused sometimes. This can also happen in Ae as well.
I have gotten used to making a duplicate of the project every day or at junctures of major change in the finder. The Mac finder duplicates the project file with the added word "copy" so I know that it isn't the original project file. I then add the date and time to the end of the file name _yymmdd_hh and send a copy to another drive.
It's too bad that there is no option in Pr to have it save the Auto-Saves to different drive than where the original is.
I also use a droplet created with a Mac renaming utility called "Name Mangler". Here is the macro for the advanced area of the re-namer in case anyone is interested.
    [concatenate
              <name>,
              "_", [modified "%y%m%d_%H"],".", <extension>
I just drop the project file onto the droplet and it gets appended with its modification date.

  • Photoshop CS2 droplets stop working 25+ photos

I have three machines with this same issue. XP pro fresh install of everything, OS, PS CS2, LR 1.3, etc. All updates. I found this problem related to someone updating PS from CS to CS2, but not for a fresh install. I had this same problem before my most recent XP reformat too-I reformat my machines about once a year.
Now to my problem, I can't run a droplet on more than 25 images at a time. I have tried multiple combinations of file/folder/droplet locations. Running the droplets from LR 1.3.1 does the same thing. Running from Bridge also will not work. It works fine for a few images, but not for 50 or 100 or more.
    Thanks,

  • Upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks and CS 5.1 Droplets stop working!

Adobe website said drag older droplet to photoshop icon and it will be resaved as droplet.app but that didn't work. the website then said recreate the droplet but that is also not working. What is going on? Do i actually have recreate the action from scratch and then save a new droplet?!

    Hi R_Kelly,
I made a new action from scratch and it does work (sorta).  Which means there is a lot of work in my future to recreate all my actions!
But the droplet doesn't show as a photoshop droplet. i get a generic file icon (see below) And, I couldn't find it right away because it's creation date says June 2011!?! when i made it today Dec. 2013. So something is definitely wrong!
