Dropped 3G in water, Can I use my old iphone while it dries?

I dropped the new one in the tub, dang it!
I've got it in rice with the sim card out. (any other drying out tips appreciated)
My question is if I put the sim card in my old iphone will it work? Will I confuse my computer or my phones?
I'm charging the old one as we speak...

You will need to re-activate your old iPhone with the SIM card from your iPhone 3G via the iTunes activation process.
Each iPhone can have its own sync preferences, so there should be no computer or iPhone confusion.

Can I use my old IPhone as an Ipod, and download songs from I Tunes?

Sure, it will work just fine that way. Leave the deactivated sim in the phone, as you'll need it should you ever have to restore or upgrade the software on the phone. You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim in the phone.

  • Can I use my old iPhone AC Adapter with my new iPad mini

Just bough myself a new mini retina but was wondering if I could use my old iPhone 4 AC power adapter with it i.e. plug the new lightining to USB to AC Adapter.
The iPad's power adapter is a bit bulky and anything so I don't end up taking a hundred power adapters on holiday tomorrow!
Looking at the details they say:
    Old charger:
    100-240v ~ 50/60Hz 0.15A
    Output 5V == 1A
    New charger:
    100-240v ~ 50/60Hz 0.45A
    Output 5.1V == 2.1A

Another option is that you can take ONLY the iPad mini's 10W charger with you instead of the iPhone's 5W charger. It's not that much bigger than the iPhone's 5W and will safely charge BOTH devices. It's really not recommended (& not considered compatible by Apple) to use the 5W charger to charge devices requiring a 10W or 12W charger. Yes, as was mentioned above, you CAN use the 5W to charge the mini Retina. It will take longer and the charger will likely generate more heat. Personally, I'd just take the 10W charger. It's safe and compatible (officially by Apple) with both your iPhone 4 and the iPad mini Retina.

  • Can I use my old iPhone 4s just for music

I got a new phone and wondered if I could use my old iPhone 4s as an iPod. It seems like I should be able to if I just erase everything and add music but I don't know if iTunes will recognize it as a phone or iPod or be weird. I hope this isn't a stupid question! i just have a really really old iPod that's totally full so it would be great to use my old phone!

Yes you can use it as an iPod. I use my old iPhone 4 as an iPod. When you restore an iPhone(on iTunes), it should still recognise the iPhone as an iPhone and go through the new phone set up process. Once you have set the phone up there is a message saying 'No sim card installed!' but you can ignore the message and use the phone as an iPod.

  • Can I use my old iPhone as an iPod?

I just learned that my shiny new iPhone 4 has shipped and had a thought: Can I use my old original iPhone as an iPod touch? i.e., use it for music, games, etc. via WiFi. It seems like there should be no problem whatsoever, but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

  • Can I use an old iPhone 4 while my 5s is out for repair?

    Hi Community!
My iPhone 5s has stopped working (the home button was sporadically unresponsive and is now completely unresponsive), so I've opened a ticket to have it repaired by Apple and they're going to send a box to me. However, I'm not thrilled about the idea of not having a phone at all. Is it possible for me to use my old iPhone 4 while my 5s is being repaired by Apple? Would it be complicated? I'm with Verizon Wireless in the United States.
Sorry if I sound like a complete idiot!

Gotcha, thanks! I'm less concerned about having my exact setup than I am about not being able to take a phone call or receive a message. A few days without Angry Birds won't kill me
Actually, you might be able to download Angry Birds to your iPhone 4.  Your App Store downloads/purchases are tied to your Apple ID, not your iPhone.  Angry Birds only requires iOS 5+ to run.  And IIRC, it associates to GameCenter (which also uses your Apple ID), so you might even be able to pick up right where you left off.
And you should be able to even sign into your iCloud on your iPhone 4, and if your Contacts, for example, were synced with iCloud, those should come back over.  While you can't restore a 'full backup', you can definitely get a lot of the same functionality on your 'backup' iPhone.

  • How can i use my old iphone 2g as an mp3?

I would like to use my old iphone as mp3/hard drive etc?
At the mo itunes says wrong sim?
I now have iphone 4 so have mini sim?

In that case, the original SIM was not an Orance SIM. You're going to have to find a SIM from the carrier it is locked to or you're not going to be able to use it at all.

  • Can I use the old iphone as  an ipod touch?

My buddy wants to upgrade to the new iphone, so if I get his old iphone can I use it basically as an ipod touch? I don't want to pay the $80+ for phone service but love all the touch features. Please help with this question.

I think you're set if he cancels his service providing he had the pay-as-you-go plan. No voice or EDGE, but I'm 95% sure everything else will work, including WiFi.

  • How can I use my old iPhone 3GS as just an iPod.

I updated my old iphone 3GS to iOS 5.1 and now I can't use it as just an ipod. It won't sync without a SIM card. I don't need one. Can someone help me out?

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406.
Edit:  You'll need a SIM card from the carrier it is locked to.  Doesn't have to be an activated SIM card but needs to be in the phone to re-activate it.  If you don't have one, ask you carrier if they have a deactivated one you can use.

  • Can I use an old iPhone 4 verizon without a plan and just use it like an iPod?

    Hi,
I received my sisters old iPhone 4 Verizon because she has upgraded. My contract doesn't expire for a while, so can I just use it like you would an iPod? No calling or texting, just as like an iPod touch.
    Thank you.

Somoene please provide an answer that works for a Verizon phone. This is a perplexing issue,
In your case, just start using it as an iPod (essentially a Touch).  You can do everything but make calls or sending SMS/MMS (but I think you can iMessage and FaceTime if on Wi-Fi).
