Dropped 5th gen  blank white backlit screen with crack on inner screen

Please can anyone help. Is it worth just getting the screen repaired or will i still encounter any problems as the ipod no longer connects properly to the computer. And i cannot get anything to work, it just displays a blank white screen until the battery runs out.
It was only a 2 ft drop onto carpet. Not a scratch/dent visible.

Have you tried doing a reset on it yet?
Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15-30 seconds or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.

  • Just a blank white backlit screen

on my iPod nano, which i have had for a month, all i get is a blank white backlit screen.  I was on the phone with apple support for 35 minutes and they couldn't help me.  we tried restoring it, reset it like 5 times, made sure i have all the updated software and still nothing.  when i connect to itunes it says on iTunes that it is synching but on the iPod itself, nothing.  just still a bank white/backlit screen. does anyone have any idea what to do?

You will have to erase your drive because it has a corrupted directory resulting from allowing the drive to become full.
Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

why doesnt my 5th gen ipod nano not connect with windows 8?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • I am experiencing network failures with my Airport Extremes: the main router is a 2nd Gen, the extension a 5th Gen. The 5th Gen keeps on losing connection with the main router. Any ideas why?

I am experiencing network failures with my Airport Extremes: the main router is a 2nd Gen, the extension a 5th Gen.
The 5th Gen keeps on losing connection with the main router and thus with the internet.
    Any ideas why?

Is the second Extreme configured to "extend" the network created by the first? If so its position must be such that it has a strong wireless connection to the first Extreme. If it is at the limits of the first one's wireless range its connection will be tenuous. Place them closer together and determine if that makes a difference.

Why is my MacBook Pro **crashing** changing to a blue screen with lines or distorted screen when I open logic or Ableton Live. Then I have to restart by long pressing the power button. Can somebody plz help me

What you describe sounds like a hardware issue. Unfortunately, you'll need to get that checked out by Apple. If you have an Apple Store near you, make an appointment with the Genius Bar and take the machine in for evaluation.

Cracked iPhone 6 screen and screen is all white with different colors going down it. What do I do???

Take it in for repair or exchange. Be prepared to write a pretty big check unless you bought AppleCare+.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

I dropped my 5th gen ipod (for the 10th time) ... now my touchscreen wont respond. Anyone know a fix? (already tried the reset)

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • I dropped my ipod 2nd Generation, and now the screen turned white   there're many cracks in the screen. But im pretty sure the touchscreen still works. Is there any way my screen can work again? so that it isn't white? pls help

    Please help

I'm in no way an iPod technician - but I have the same model as you.  If you have cracks in the screen, I'm pretty sure you need to get the screen replaced.  You can see what's involved by looking here:
    http://www.rapidrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=cp-ipodtouch2g
Unless you're already an electronic technician, you'd be better off having it repaired.
Having said that, you might compare the repair price with what a newer iPod Touch would cost you.  Here's just one sample page with pricing:
    http://www.amazon.com/iPod-Computers/b?ie=UTF8&node=13660271
If you buy a used one, it might be just a little more than the repair cost.
(.....strange - I just came here to the forum to ask a questioin about my own iPod 2nd gen device, which I might be replacing with a newer one....)

  • Can the new 5th gen ipod nanos be used with iTunes 8?

I have just installed iTunes 9 today and am DISGUSTED with version 9
already. I have a new 5th gen ipod nano on order and would like to go back to
iTunes 8 ... will the new 5th generation be usable in iTunes 8?
With iTunes 9 being such a launch and introduction disaster ... I may sell my new
iPod because it looks like it will only work with iTunes 9. If that's the case I am selling my
new iPod and picking up a 4th generation ipod on eBay.
It looks to a lot of Mac users, like Apple really screwed up iTunes 9 ... and as a result,
may turn many new prospective iPod Nano and iTouch owners off from purchasing any
of the newer iPods until Apple redesigns or seriously modifies iTunes 9.

So are you just going to keep posting this in every incorrect forum?

What exactly are you finding so disgusting in iTunes 9? I have yet to find anything repugnant.
If you want to keep iTunes 8 I would suggest you buy a refurbished 4th Generation from the online iTunes Store and cancel your order for the 5th Generation.

  • Ipod touch's screen stays a blank white? how do i fix the screen?

ipod touch slipped out of my hands and fell. when i tried turnin it on the screen was jus white and blank. I tried holdin down the home and sleep/wake buttons down at the same time but it didn do anythin. i tried pressin buttons over and over again but it still wont do anythin! i tried almost everythin i can think of! can anyone help?? :/

Same thing happened to me although I didn't drop it... just took it out of the docking station and immediately it suffered whiteout! After the Genius at the Apple store evaluated it, he determined that it was dead. No particular reason. Apple did, however, replace it with a brand new one at no charge since it's still under warranty. Hope yours is, too!

  • White Screen with apple logo after screen replacement Iphone 5

So my friend gave me her phone because she dropped it and had someone repair it but it only worked for a second before the screen went to the apple logo that is black and has a white background. So the guy put the screen back on and gave it back to her. Anyways she gave me the phone and i was wondering what the problem is. Did he fry the mother board.
Here is a detailed description: the phone turns on and off with a white screen and black apple logo then it goes black. When u press home and the sleep button then it goes black with purple on the bottom and two vertical lines. When i plug it into my computer it will sometimes go completely blue. What happened and is it repairable cause i want to ditch my iphone 4s and use her iphone 5.
The person who gave me the phone is a girl to clarify the she and the person who tried to repair it was a guy. He repaired 2 phones so far so i think he is somewhat reliable
BTW the computer wont recognize the phone and the old screen is back on.

Take the iPhone back to the 'someone' who repaired it. Apple will not touch that iPhone
now that a 3rd party has opened it.
