Dropped calls, no service, straight to voice mail - could be tower trouble

I absolutely LOVE my iPhone. The 3GS is my third. I live in the NY Metro Area (northeastern NJ) and the AT&T coverage is horrible. There are too many "degraded" towers, which leads to dropped calls, calls going straight to voice mail, other person not hearing me and no service at times. I've been dealing with these problems since early November and AT&T claims they are "working on it." I have no choice but to switch service as I use my phone for business. Here's hoping that Apple opens up the distribution in 2010.

  • My iPhone 4 won't take incoming calls. Everytime someone phones me it goes straight to voice mail. What's gone wrong?

For some reason my iPhone 4 won't take incoming calls and everytime someone phones me it goes straight to voicemail what's gone wrong??

Look at the AT&T VVM User Guide for help setting up your visual voice mail.
If you still have problems, contact AT&T Customer Service at 1-800-331-0500 and ask them to check that your account is provisioned for an iPhone 4.

  • I am having multiple problems with my iphone 4s, people can't hear me when I call, text messages don't always send, calls go straight to voice mail. I have all bars, have hard rest 3 times. I have called apple 4 times and gone to a store. No help.

I have had the 3g, 3gs, 4 and little if any problems. I made a major mistake buying the 4s. What a horrible phone. I must say, apple service is at best, BAD. Here are the basics. I am on the same network, I call the same people, I use the same text messages as I did with the 4. With the 4s, I will call someone and they will not be able to hear me. I have to hang up and recall. Or the phone just does nothing when I press call. Text messages acts like they send but when I go back the have been sent. Sometimes the calls go direct to voice mail.
Here's what I have done. Reset, did not help. Called apple, advisor said she would call me back in 5 minutes, after waiting for 5 days for the call, I recalled, they walked me through the same things I had already done, then said to take it to a store. So they set up an appointment for the only day I could get to it, 1 1/2 hours away, on my grand son's birthday. That was okay if they fixed it. So they hard reset it, we had to setup 4 email accounts, they would not allow me to restore because they said it was a software problem. So I had to download all the apps, lost a lot of data. No fun. But if it worked! So Monday back at work, guess what, same thing. When home and did another hard reset. Still no lick. Called apple again. They said they would replace my phone, all they needed was to put a hold on a credit card for $899 or drive a 1 1/2 hours to a store.
So anyone know a good andriod phone.
PS I got a email asking about the service each time and each time I told them what a horrible phone it was and how bad service was. I have yet to hear back. I guess they do not read them!

You're not speaking to Apple on in this forum, nor will someone from Apple see this post.   We are just users like you and I.
Have you tried to restore or reset your phone?
Or contact your carrier in re: to your sim card

  • Incoming Calls Sent Straight to Voice Mail

This problem seems to be linked to screen blanking. If I allow the screen to go dark by itself (after the preset number of seconds--30, in my case), all incoming phone calls will be sent direct to voice mail without ringing. I get a notice, then, if they leave a voice mail...but of course they have already hung up and I can't answer the call. People who don't leave a voice mail, I never know that they have called.
If I shut down the screen manually, phone calls ring as usual and I can anwer them. I have been to two different Verizon stores to have this checked out. They have removed the battery and reinstalled it, and also have reprogrammed a couple of times. They've also checked bunches of settings to be sure I haven't accidentally pressed a wrong button somewhere. Still, this happens. If I do not manually shut down the screen, I lose my incoming calls.
Any ideas? I love my phone and would hate to return it, but that may be my only option. I shouldn't have to manually shut off my screen after every operation in order to receive calls.

If you have been to two different Verizon Wireless stores and your phone's concerns have not been resolved after our representatives did some troubleshooting steps, you may need to consider a phone replacement. Keep in mind that your phone includes a manufacturer’s warranty that will provide a Certified Like New Replacement phone identical to your current device. • Incoming calls to my iphone go straight to voice mail after 1 ring

    Can anyone help?

    Check,
Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding > It should be set to off - is there anything set here to automatically forward incoming calls?
if it is set to off, and all settings under control of your network provider are normal then it should work just fine.
For my network, the number of rings that it does before diverting to voice mail is also set by my network provider and is not something which I can change.

  • When the agent is in ready state, call has to go to voice mail incase the call is not answered

I need to create a script for  helpdesk setup.  When call hits the CSQ, if agents are free the call will get connect to an agent, else it will be queued. Till here i am clear. The step where i have stuck is , when the  agent is in ready state and when the call gets connect to that agent, due to some reasons if agent, do not answer the call, it has to get transfer to voice mail .  Can someone help me with this please... We are using UCCX 8.5...

Not sure the logic that Anthony used in some of the prior solutions but try following Logic in the ScreenShot and let me know how it works out for you..
As Jeff mentioned (and I overlooked) If there is a Ring No Answer and there is another Agent Ready then the first Step in the Failed Output Branch will not Evaluate..the Script Logic takes the "caller" back to the Select RSRC Step..so I'm doing an IF check to ensure that wasn't the case..and if it was then I will Dequeue the call and perform the necessary transfer..(after the Successful Transfer you probably should Goto a Terminate Step)..Cheers

  • Dropped calls, no service, excessive data usage, extremely low battery life

Ever since downloading the new update all my calls are dropped, I have no service anywhere I never get over three circles anywhere and when making a call it will instantly drop to lower service, my phones battery is quickly drained. my phone has been using excessive amounts of data, even while at home on wifi. I have my cellular data off, back app refresh off, and have taken it into the verizon store they worked on it for a half hour and said it should be good but there is no change. While there I had the rep check coverage for my home, because while I had coverage before I no longer do, he confirmed I should have full coverage 4g Lte, and that I was in an amazing area for coverage. Except I"m not getting any coverage. I've also sat on the phone with verizon several times and had them try to fix it, no help. The circles that show coverage/service will change when I"m not even moving around, for whatever reason. My phone also just generally runs slower and will occasionally freeze up when pressing the home button or closing an app.
I'm sure you'll ask for it so my zip is 53704

        aliviadomek,
I'm very sorry to hear about the troubles with your Apple device.  We're here to further assist and make sure we find resolution for you.  Thank you for already answering a lot of questions and taking care of some troubleshooting.  At this point I would recommend a backup and restore.  The iPhone and it's new update may be conflicting with something on your device.  We'd like to perform a restore and test with out any 3rd party applications or media on the phone.
Here are the instructions for the backup and restore; http://bit.ly/1pIvHLR.
    Please share your results. Thanks.

  • Receiving Calls Problem - going directly to voice mail

My iPhone is set to check for email every 15 minutes. If someone calls at the time iPhone is automatically checking for email, the call goes directly to voice mail.
Worse it doesnt even show up as a missed call.
I understand that Edge is turned off when making a call.
But this happens automatically so I have no control over this feature. I tried calling myself from a landline at the time iPhone was checking for emails and verified this issue.
Does anyone else have the same problem - what is the solution?
    Thanks

"That's the way that GSM/EDGE works. The radio can only do one thing at a time. If it's doing data, then the voice call goes right to VM and you don't get notified until the VM gets in."
That is not entirely correct. That is not how GSM/EDGE works. This is how iPhone is designed to work. I have a Nokia N73 and when i am browsing the Web using EDGE (T-Mobile's network), if i get a call, i will be prompted to accept the call. The way that iPhone is designed, it seems to be that Apple values data connectivity more than voice calls. In my opinion, this is probably the wrong way to do it.

  • I have a brand new IPhone 4G.  For the life of me, I can't get the phone to ring. I have been in and out of my settings, have disengaged both silent and vibrate.  But when dialing my number from another phone, the call goes direclty into my voice mail

I have a brand new IPhone 4G.  I can't get it to ring.  I have gone into settings and disengaged vibrate, and have engaged the ring button on side of phone.  But everytime I dial my number from a different phone, it doesn't ring. Rather the call goes directly into my voice mailbox (ogm heard immediately); not even one ring! Please advise

Well, if it goes to VM immediately the call isn't reaching your phone, so no wonder it isn't ringing. Do you see a network displayed in the upper left of the screen? Have you activated the phone by connecting to a computer with the latest version of iTunes? Have you called your carrier to make sure they have provisioned it correctly?

  • Deer Park, WI  and 4 corners area - dropped calls, no service as of 2 weeks ago

Had 3 or 4G connection in my home and within a couple of miles radius until two weeks ago. Now I can't get a call to connect, and incoming calls constantly get dropped. Where do I call to report this change in service?  I'm new to Verizon as of 2 months ago.

Does Verizon still do PRL updates.  If so it might be a good time to try it out.  I am a bit confused about what all is in the current devices.  There are things that LTE shouldn't need that CDMA may and the way I understand it we have both in most devices.

  • I live in the middle of the city and am continuously dropping calls. Service has been steadily declining over the years. I just ditched my Sprint phone for the same reason. This one I work related and I depend on it for my "on-call". Sprint had a device c

Sprint offered a device called an "airrave" that supplements/ improves the wireless signal using my home wifi.
Does verizon offer a similar device?

Verizon offers a network extender for use in your house, but you would need an available broadband internet connection to be able to use it.
