Dropped calls using Skype.

Hello everybody,
I've got a Linksys WRT54G router updated with the latest firmware (4.30.5 and now shows as model WRT54GL for some reason). I have no disconnections from using wireless broadband ordinarily but do have disconnections using VOIP services such as Skype and Babble. After a few minutes into the call, Skype reports the call as dropped and in the taskbar appears an icon with a red cross through the wireless connection icon (I am using Windows XP Home SP2).
I have no problems using Skype through a wired connection. Initially I thought the problem was related to Skype alone, but it also happens with other VOIP services such as Babble. I have reset the router as described in these forums and set all the options to factory default settings. I have also tried different Wireless Channels to ensure it was not interference. The security I have set up is WPA Personal with TKIP (not default).
Anyone have any suggestions why this may be?

As the calls are dropping on the wireless connection try changing some of the wireless setting of the router. . Login to the router configuration page by typing http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your internet explorer. Leave the username field blank and in the password type “admin” (If you have not changed the router password). When the configuration page is fully loaded click on the tab that says wireless. Click on the sub-tab that says Advanced wireless settings. Set the value of Beacon Interval =50, Fragmentation Threshold = 2306 and RTS Threshold = 2307. Save settings.

    I have a similar problem. I recently reinstated Skype on my iPad. I am able to sign in, to check my profile page and to check on my credit (I have about $30 US on it). But, I am unable to bring up a dial pad, nor a phone logo. I should add, I do have another copy of Skype on my iPad, under a different spelling of my name, that works perfectly well. I want to be able to contact to Skype using the re-instated account (which I had created earlier in error) so as to use up the existing credit, as I've learned that I can't combine the two accounts. What can I do? Can anything be done?

    As i would like to use Skype to make mystery calls to test competence of my call centre support, I have a few questions:
    Example:
    I call using Skype from Singapore to China Call Centre, what is the phone number that will appear at the receiver's phone?
    Is this number the same for every call, no matter to which country?
    Or no number will appear?
    This is very important as I am using it for mystery calls.

    You need to set the callerID on the Skype accounting page, so that the specific Skype online number is able to show on the caller's phone.

    I used to be able to place a call using Skype by clicking and holding a telephone number in Address Book and releasing it on the option " Call with Skype".
    Now, although the options still appears, it does not work.

    There used to be an issue with 32 bit in Snow Leopard, and you could work around by compelling Addrees Book to open in 32 bit, but this seems to work no longer.

  • Call using Skype Dial pad is not sending outgoing ...

    We are using Desktop API’s to get the events from Skype to our application. When we are doing an outgoing call using Skype dial pad, we are not getting an outgoing call event from Skype in our application.
    But when we do call from skype contact list we are able to get outgoing call event and process it.
    Is there known issue with dialing with Dial pad does not send outgoing call event?

    Fixed my own problem, IT was my Host file under Windows>System32>drivers>ectThe file was made in such a way that I did not relize I chound't edit it with Notepad without permissions. Also I don't remember adding anything to it, oh well. Long story short, if any of you internet searches want my advice on what to do. Copy the entries in your host file maded by programs "Example: Uncheacky and SpyBot (It will be listed which ones are made by who)." Copy wanted entries to a regular text file on your desktop. Delete your real host file in the director above, deal with readding your wanted entries latter and enjoy talking to your friends again.

    I'm really baffled. I have a month old MacBook Air. I use Skype daily for work and personal business. Never had a problem until this evening. I went to make a video call and Skype was not linked with the camera - there was no option to make a video call and when I went into Preferences, it said I had no camera. I then used FaceTime - person I was calling also had FaceTime, so it wasn't an issue - but I've now spent an hour trying to solved the problem, including logging in and out of Skype, closing the app and reinstalling, all to no avail.     FIX: 
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

    Yes, Skype can make video calls over 3G. You do NOT need to jailbreak your phone. I believe the previous poster thought you were asking about FaceTime which does not work over 3G.

    If you purchase the same subscription again it will only extend it, it doesn't add more minutes to your account.
    If you have Ghana 120minutes then no matter how many times you purchase it within 30 days you still have only 120minutes during this 30 days.

    On 10/19/12 I reactivated our Skype credit of $9.69 and received an email confirming that the credit was reactivated.  However, whenever we log on to Skype the Profile Completeness bar gets stuck at 50% and the Make A Call button is never displayed, even though our current credit is correctly displayed as $9.69.

    I have the same problem .....  This skype, without customer service truly is not worth
    the trouble.  I wish they would dispense with all the options and hire a few humans to
    perform customer service.  I have credit, changed my password and still just get propaganda
    of new services when I try to make a basic call.........Lovely huh!!
