  • TS3274 iPad screen goes to home screen while i am searching on the Internet

Can anyone tell me why my iPad will go to the home screen while I'm using the Internet to search for things? It will happen within a few seconds, and I then click on safari n my page reopens to where I was.

First thing to try is a reboot of your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Still happen quit Safari like this.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
Then delete the safari cache and history in Settings. Hopefully then the problem will be corrected.

  • IPad changes to home screen while I'm on Internet!

Why does my iPad automatically switch to the home screen while I'm on the Internet?

    Try this:
    Close all Inactive Apps
    1. Double-click the Home button to see all Inactive Apps
    2. Hold the Apps down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo (ignore the red slider)

  • 3 problems With: Accelometer, Safari, And Home Screen Sliding, Update??

Hey Guys, i just got a 16GB iPhone today, and i noticed that sliding from one home screen to the other is like 1/8 slower than other iphones i tried, its a small fraction, but i want to enjoy my iphone to the fullest.
The second problem is concerning the accelometer, sometimes it takes about 10 seconds for it to change landscapes, and when it actually works right, its moves not in the same smooth way ive tried on other iphones too.
The final problem is concerning safari browser, whenever i have 3 pages or more, sometimes it closes by its own, and there's that accelometer problem again, screen changes differently every time.
I absloutly love it, no doubt about that, but i really want to enjoy it to the fullest, without any problems, so what do you think guys, should i update to 1.1.4, or is it all in my head??
Thanks for any help you give
    Godfather

Thanks for the info Kevin, next time I reset I will clear the cache too and see if it works better for me than just the reset.
Also to the OP. Like Kevin said, the iphone must be nearly totally vertical for the accelerometer to register the change quickly. I was just testing and if I was holding the phone on a slant towards being horizontal and then rotate into landscape it takes several seconds to rotate. If I hold it vertical and then rotate its nearly instant. If you lay down on a table and then rotate it doesn't move at all.
I'm not sure why your settings screen would be lagging. Make sure your finger movements are smooth I suppose. And also safari will lag in doing anything while it is actively loading data from the net.
Edit - with further investigation it looks like it needs to be no more than at a 45 degree angel from vertical position for the accelerometer to pick up the change in orientation.

  • IPhone goes to home screen while surfing

while in safari surfing, my iPhone auto goes to home screen. What's the problem? It is a pain while composing emails or even this MSG as it usually causes me to have to log back in and start over

When it goes back to the home screen that means the application has crashed. Try going to settings - safari and empty caches/cookies/etc to see if this will correct the issue.

  • Is it normal to see white lines when you press the home screen while it's charging?

Hi, I have a brand new ipad mini and I'm noticing that while I'm charging it and it's in sleep mode, if I press the home screen button whitish/grey lines will appear on the bottom of the screen for a few seconds then fade away. Is normal when charging your ipad mini?

    No it is not.
Are you sure that this isn't a phishing attack to get your password?

  • I find myself unable to pinch to home screen while using iPad Air..it  hapenned twice

While I was opening some applications and then I wanted to pinch to home screen but I found it doesn't work then I tried closing the opened applications then I tried pinching ..finally it works.. This happened twice ..is it just an incident or there is something wrong in my ipad

As Bob said Newsstand doesn't always pinch to close.  In my limited experience it has behaved differently in different versions of the iOS, and behaves differently for different magazines.
Otherwise, were you using all 5 fingers?
You don't have a practical joker friend who may have turned multitasking gestures off in Settings?

  • TS1382 I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch with a screen that doesn't ligbI8 hiijhbvvcfghhcbbjht up and at times it returns to the home screen while typing such as in facebook.  Any suggestions?

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch.  Lately the screen will not light up and also at times while typing it returns to the home screen (such as in facebook. Any suggestions?

Have you tried any of the usual 5 R's for troubleshooting.  See here for more information.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
If none of those resolve the issue (including restoring the device back to factory defaults), the backlight issue is likely hardware related, meaning you'll need to have your iPod serviced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

  • Phone returns to home screen while on a phone call

Synopsis:  During a phone call, if I trigger the proximity sensor (by holding the phone to my ear), the phone returns to the home screen.  I will often have to unlock the screen, as well.  I expect that when I'm on a phone call, the phone will remain on the PHONE screen.
Why this is a problem:  If I have to reach Verizon's tech support, for example, this is what I now have to go through:
    1) dial number
    2) listen to the option, "dial 1 for customer service, 2 for tech support..."
    3) pull the phone away from my ear
    4) unlock the screen
    5) press the phone button to bring up the phone menu
    6) press the keypad button on the phone screen to bring back the keypad
    7) press 2
{word filter avoidance}  Steps 4,5, and 6 should not be required.  Often, by the time I'm ready to key an entry in, I hear the, "Are you still there?" question.  So, now I've turned off the screen lock, and STILL have to go through steps 5 and 6.  ARRRGH.
This is EXTREMELY annoying.  It makes me long for a simple phone.  I called HTC and Verizon - neither have an answer for this problem.

Hi!  I recommend that you do a soft reset.  You can complete this by:
    Powering your device off.
    Remove the battery.
Let the device sit for 15 seconds.
    Replace the battery.
Power the device back on and continue your task.

  • The music player is gone from all my home screens. How do I get it back?

I can't find my music player on my home screen  it was there yesterday and now it's gone

You can restore the home screen to its original configuration by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  Note: this may rearrange other icons to restore the original home screen layout.

  • With the new iOS everything keeps dropping out to the home screen

After updating to the latest iOS my iPad will drop out of any program to the main screen what gives?

To all posters who are having this precise issue: Wi-Fi works upon rebooting, and connects to the closest network, and will work for some time, HOWEVER it will sporadically lose connection and will no longer see ANY networks until rebooting again.
I Believe i know what is happening here: I think it is a problem with the wifi module running too hot, and shorting out or otherwise losing connection.  I'm led to believe this because it looses bluetooth as well which is found on the same module!
Last night I restored iOS 5 (for the 3rd time) and of course it worked on first boot.  I stayed connected to my router for about an hour, doing some light internet use (browsing internet, using the remote to control my Apple TV) HOWEVER as soon as I tried to do a Wi-Fi sync to iTunes, to copy over some podcasts, it quit.  I tried turning wifi on and off and it just couldn't see the network at all.
When it does more intensive transfers OR if you get farther away from the router, the card boosts up power consumption, gets hot and shuts down. I can see no other solution.
Today at my office I rebooted my phone, immediately connected to my office wifi. It stayed connected 3 hrs, only delivering occasional email.  I turned off wifi, came home, turned it back on and it connected immediately.  I started a wifi sync and sure enough it quite within 5 min.
I'm quite sure this is a programming/hardware issue because i have absolutely NEVER had an issue until upgrading to iOS 5.  I think they are sending too much power or something to the wifi/bluetooth module.
I'm hoping its not permanently frying the module!
Sad thing is, exact same thing happened to my 3G when iOS 4 came out!

  • My ipod wont connect/charge and is stuck on the home screen while trying to update it

i tried to update it not realizing i needed to connect to itunes so it was on the screen to connect to itunes all day during school til i got home and it wouldn't update so i restored it 5 times and then it wont charge/ connect  or restore at all

If there is no passcode on the device, then try making a backup to iTunes.  Once you have the backup (or if it's passcode locked and you can't make a backup), then use iTunes to restore the device to factory settings.  You may have to use Recovery Mode to do so if there's a passcode on the device (alternatively if you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use icloud.com to remote wipe the device).
Once it's erased, see if you can set it up as new, and test the touch display.  If the touch display is still non-responsive after it's been set up as new, then your device has a hardware failure and needs to be serviced or replaced. If you are still within warranty with Apple, it should be a free replacement.  If not, then expect to pay $199 USD + tax for a replacement.

  • So the AppStore icon just disappeared from my iPad home screen...

App store icon disappeared from my "free" iPad 2...  ***!?

Did you check whether you've got Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps set 'off' ?

  • My iphone 4s goes back to home screen during text and apps. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from doing that?

Can you tell me how to prevent my phone from crashing and returning to the home screen while I am in the middle of a text or in an app?

When was the last time you powered your iPhone off and on?
Try a reset instead which is similar to a computer restart. Press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • How can I remove things from the home screen

How can I remove things from the iPad home screen?

Hold down an icon until all icons start to wiggle.
    You then have two choices:
    1.  Drag the icon to the right so it goes to a different (non-home) screen.
    2.  If the icon is not supplied by Apple as part of iOS, you will see a small "X" in the upper left corner.  You can click that to delete the icon.
Stop the wiggling by pressing the home button.
