Dropped iPad2, volume display stays on max's out automatically - cannot adjust anymore?

I recently dropped my iPad2 and although most things seem to operate normally the volume display stays on and the volume automatically goes straight to max. I am traveling overseas & need to get some running repairs?
Thanks
Peter

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • How can multiple speaker outputs be created with varying volume levels and retain keyboard master volume control? Multi-output and aggregate both cannot adjust sub-devices and lose keyboard volume control capabilities on my Mac. What's the solution?

Is it my Mac? Is there software I need? An app perhaps? This seems way too complicated to set up spkrs. I'm attempting to use 2 hdmi and 1 headphone outputs w/ control and varying levels (ie hdmi's quieter than desk spkrs) thanks for suggestions! -Tim

    Hi Tim,
Not sure since I'm deaf, but if possible I'd think...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there.

  • Volume "display" on iPad2

I have recently used the ALARM facility for a number of days without a problem. Today, after accepting the alarm call the program shut down but the VOLUME display is now firmly set in the middle of the screen and volume is HIGH.
I was also on FACETIME for 20 minutes before this happened

    Hello there,
I tried your solution but whilst it did not work I think I might have missed something.
There was something I did not fully understand and that was when you said "close all open apps" I thought I had done so but apparently I had not .....but
I followed the close down instructions and eventually got the APPLE logo but the display returned with no text.
I then saw your icon and when I looked at recent posts I saw your answer to a previous, similar, question to which your reply was "are you using a sleeve?" I was so I took it off and, HEY PRESTO, the display had disappeared!!!!
So, a heartfelt Thank You. I had reconciled myself to spending all day sorting this out and now I can respond to my wife's request to go and cut the grass!
    Thanks again,

  • How to get rid of the on screen volume display?

how to get rid of the on screen volume display, it stays on even after reboot. and when i hit the volume button another one shows on top of it.

Sounds like a key on the keyboard is stuck down. Does it disappear if you disconnect the keyboard?

  • TS1587 I tried everything, except for reinstalling the SO-DIMM memory modules. Still, my iMac will not wake up. Turning it on you can hear the fan run, but the display stays dark. Any ideas what to do? Thanks Maja

My iMac won't start up, or wake from sleep.  I've tried everything, except for reinstalling the SO-DIMM memory modules. Still, my iMac will not wake up.  Turning it on, you can hear the fan run, but the display stays dark.  Any ideas what to do?  Thanks!

    Mac doesn't boot
Can you hear the fans and hard drive and see the white boot screen? Flashing question mark? The circle just runs and nothing happens? Only black screen and nothing else? These can be very helpful to diagnose the source of the problem. [1]
Flashing question mark [2]: This is usually a sign of a failed hard drive. This indicates that boot up volume can not be found.
Black screen: This is usually a sign of a failed logic board. There is no single reason for this and this may be caused by failed GPU, screen, CPU or RAM.
Circle of death/no circle/blue screen: This is usually a sign of a hard drive failure. This may NOT be a dead hard drive, just broken permissions or something
Gray screen/Apple logo/spinning gear or globe/prohibitory sign/folder with flashing question mark [3]: This could be a sign of faulty hardware but more likely a software issue, i.e. broken permissions, failed software update, etc.
    [edit]
    What to do
First, hold down the option key (also known as the alt key) just after you've pressed the power button. This should show all the available options to boot from, so if you have Windows installed through Bootcamp or a disk in your SuperDrive, you should be able to see them along with your OS X drive/partition. Select the OS X partition with arrow keys and press enter. Startup key combinations
If that doesn't help continue doing the steps from below:
    1. SMC reset [4]. Shut down and unplug all cables including power cord for at least 30 seconds and then plug in power cord and keyboard/mouse.
    2. PRAM reset [5]. Hold down option, command, P and R while booting. Start it when you hear the sound and don't let go before it reboots.
    3. Safe boot [6]. Hold down shift while booting to boot into safe mode. If this works, open Disk Utility from Utilities and repair your permissions and verify the disk
    4. Hardware test [7]. Insert the install disk (disk 1 in Mac which shipped with OS X 10.5.4 or earlier, disk 2 if shipped with OS X 10.5.5 or newer) and hold down "D" before the grey boot screen opens. Follow on screen instructions
    5. Boot from install disk. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac. Hold C while booting. Select Disk Utility from top bar and repair permissions and verify the disk. Reboot normally and see if it works now.
    6. Boot from another Mac (Firewire target disk mode). Connect the machines with a Firewire cable. Power on your Mac and press T. Select the other Mac's hard drive. Download the current OS X combo update. Run the combo update installer and select the drive that won't boot as the destination.
    7. "Repair" OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and reinstall OS X. This should NOT erase any data, just replaces the system files which may have caused your booting problem. Now install the latest combo update for OS X and repair permissions on your drive with Disk Utility.
7.1. Install OS X into an external hard drive and then boot from it [8] and try to copy your data from the hard drive before proceeding. If you have done a backup recently, you don't have to do this.
    8. Restore OS X from Time Machine backup. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac and choose the Time Machine restore option. This step will lose any changes made since your last backup but the system and your data will be put back to exactly as it was on that date.
8.1 Reinstall OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and select Disk Utility again. Now erase the whole hard drive and install OS X again. If you had a Time Machine backup and step 7 worked you don't have to do this.

  • Why does the ringer volume display frequently on 3gs

Why does the ringer volume keep displaying on my 3gs? Seems it may do this when the phone is picked up or shaken.

This just happened to me today. The ringer volume display just remains on screen. Tried hard rese, nothing. It happened right after I dropped my 3GS - of which I've done many times but had not affected it because of the silicone case taking the brunt of the shock. Hope someone has a solution to this.

  • Illustrator CS4 and my drop down menu displaying different typefaces is no longer displaying font preview.

I am using Illustrator CS4 and my drop down menu displaying different typefaces is no longer showing all of them, just blank spaces where they would be...that is unless I put my cursor over it and I can then see the typeface. This is more of a nuisance than anything and didn't happen until I updates OS X to Yosemite. I currently am operating OS X  Yosemetie 10.10.2
I have attached a screen shot. You can see that the font highlighted as the cursor is over it I can see the preview...but one I move the cursor it appears like all the others in the list and is blank.
    HELP!

Solved using this previous users had the same issue; Font previews not appearing correctly in the character window after upgrading to Yosemite

  • Display stay black after wake up

    Hi,
I hope there is someone who could help me, I have Macbook 2011 Early running Yosemite 10.10.2 and I have problem with my display turning back on after the sleep mode.
When I open the lid my display stay's black but everything is actually working, I'm able to login but everything is still black. This only happens when I close the lid, if my macbook is still open in the sleep mode than is everything absolutely fine. I had also blue screen two times, any idea what it could be please ?
I have tried to completely reinstall Yosemite, reset PRAM and SMC but none of this worked.
Any advise please ? Is it something with the hardware ?
I pretty much desperate and out of ideas how to fix that.
I will be really happy for any advise.
    Thank you !
    Best Regards,
    Michal

If you have not already, reset PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
and if that does not help, reset SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
which is unplugging the iMac and reconnecting using a precise procedure. You should disconnect ALL cables when you do this. If you have been using power strip, connect the iMac's power cord directly to a wall power outlet for this test. Power up with nothing connected except for the power cord. Once startup completes, add just your keyboard/mouse. I don't know how often this problem occurred, but try running the iMac that way (before connecting any other peripheral devices) to see if you can get it to recur. If you cannot, add back your peripherals (one at a time if possible), and again see if you can get the problem to recur.

  • My ipad2 volume is stuck in headphone mode?

Headphones are not plugged in and the volume displays headphones when I try to adjust the volume. I have tried to reset all settings through iPad settings and by holding down the home and power buttons but neither work. I have also tried to plug and unplug headphones but this doesn't work either

Thank you Macaby. Juggling didn't work despite using more than one set of headphones... In the end I switched off the iPad and left it for a while; when I switched it on again it all worked fine! Also I am new to this blogging stuff so it took me a while to find the reply button!

    Recommended
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • TS1398 Why does my iPad2 not display the WiFi icon?

Why does my iPad2 not display the WiFi icon? I have implemented ALL of the troubleshooting tips, but my WiFi icon is still missing, and it will NOT recognize the internet connection that I know to work on my computer and iPhone.

    Try the following:
    1. Reset the AirPlay devices
    2. Reboot the router
    3. Reboot the iPad
Note: The AirPlay icon is now in the Control Center
