Dropped Ipod Mini/Screen Damaged

I dropped my Ipod Mini and the screen is partially damaged. I would like to get this repaired. I do have the Apple Protection Plan but not sure if this would be covered.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Blair

No, it is not covered.
If Apple would even repair it, they usually charge $209 plus shipping plus tax.

  • Ipod mini screen has gone dark, and when backlight goes on v

Ipod mini screen has gone dark, and when backlight goes on the centre part with writing etc is almost black with light around edge. will this go? do i need to send it back?

Maybe your backlight is burning out? That's what I would think when the center is black but the edges have light. I'm not sure if a reset would fix the backlight but you can try (hold the menu and center buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo and then release). If I were I'd send it back to Apple but do you know if you are still under warranty? You should be if you've had your iPod less than a year.

  • Ipod mini screen is blank, but plays music

Ok, my ipod mini was working fine last night, then i decided to go to bed, i was listening to it in my bed, wasnt sleeping on it or anything, then all of sudden i looked down to change the song and the screen was completely blank, but i can still switch threw my songs,

  • Dropped Ipod Mini only turns on when on hold

I dropped my Ipod Mini down the stairs of my two story house on accident. Now it wont turn on unless I have it on hold which isn't good because then I cant play any songs...because it's on hold and wont move. The instant I take it off of hold in turns off. It WILL however play songs on my Ipod Home but I can't choose what song I want to play. It will just start at the top of the songs and play A-Z. The only way I can get it to play songs on the Home is because I'm controling it from the home not the ipod...if that makes sense. So am I just S.O.L.? Should I just replace my ipod (oh ya and I've had it way past the warranty) or is there hope?

My goodness.. that's really unfortunate. But, with the drop and everything, it kind of sounds like a hardware problem rather than software. But I'm really not sure, so you might want to bring it to a store like circuit city or best buy or an apple store and ask about it.
I don't know, see what others here say before anything though, because you never know about those $50 per question policies they have at those stores.

  • Ipod mini screen problem

Well I just won an 4GB 2nd gen iPod mini and I just received it the other day. I followed the instructions in the quick start book (charged batteries, installed software, etc). Only problem is my screen's contrast becomes extremely faint after a minute or two of use. Once I turn it on, it is OK to use with contrast set at about 2/3's. Moments after I must turn it up to maximum and it is still VERY faint and continues to worsen with use. I've tried resetting it (using menu + select... I can barely see the apple symbol as well), upgrading the ipod software to 1.4, restoring it. Everything that I've been told to do. What should I do as I do not have an apple service center anywhere around here (gladstone, QLD, australia)?
    Thanks

    HI Jesy,
Try with formatting ur i-pod. U can format ur i-pod using the iTunes r directly by selecting the drive in explorer(windows) and right click->Format Drive. Hope this will solve ur problem

  • Dropped iPod now screen is blank, restored still not working

I dropped my ipod classic, screen blank, still plays music, tried restoring it, still nothing, any advice?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, first make sure the hold switch has not been activated, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may take a couple of tries.
Otherwise, wait for the iPod's battery to fully drain. Then connect it to a power source charge up as normal. It might be necessary to restore the Nano via iTunes after that as there may be corrupt files still leftover from improperly ejecting the iPod.

  • IPod Mini Screen Protector/Invisable Shield

Hello. I have a question about two seprate products. Could someone link me to some screen protectors for the iPod Mini? Also, could someone link me to some full body clear protectors for the iPod Mini? Thank you!

    Bob,
Do a search on Google. I try not to spoon-feed answers to people, especially links that have nothing to do with iPod's functionality.

  • Wall Charger Picture on My Ipod Mini Screen

After selecting to restore my ipod mini, the program instructed me to plug in the ipod using a wall charger. I plugged in the ipod using the charger and now the ipod just shows a picture of the wall charher on the screen.
I think the charger might be bad, even though it is new. My ipod charges when plugged into my computer; however, now my computer will not acknowledge the ipod until the restore is completed. Any ideas.
    Thanks

I had the same problem with the AC adapter icon never going off ,even when I had it plugged into the wall. I took it to Circuit City (they had a free clinic this week.) They tried everything too, as a last resort they plugged it in using a firewire. That did the trick, fixed it. I think they sell firewires for around $30. Hope this helps.

  • Fading Ipod Mini Screen!!!! Contrast problems!!

Okay, so i just sent my messed up ipod to apple and then sent me back a brand new one. Everythings fine cept the screen keeps fading and once in a while it will go back to normal again. I thought the contrast was not up far enough but it is up all the way!! Please help, i dont want to have to send it in again

    Hi Dylanthegamer,
If you are having issues with the Contrast setting on you iPod Mini, you may find the information on page 53 of the following manual helpful:
If the Screen Is Too Light or Too Dark
    1  Select Settings > Contrast.
2  Use the Click Wheel to adjust the contrast.
If you accidentally set the screen contrast too light or too dark, you can reset it to the
default by pressing and holding the Menu button for about 4 seconds.

  • My ipod mini screen fades after charging

I have a ipod mini ( which i love) but lately when i charge it, the screens contrast fades drastically to where i almost cant see anything on it. i can fix it by bumping the contrast up...my question is, why is it doing this , and is this a sign of a bigger problem?

unfortunately to be certain you would have to bring it to an apple store.  but seeing as its old anyway and you are two hours from the nearest store you may want to replace it.  which ipod is it...2gen?  if it is then you will want to send it to be fixed as it is hard to do yourself.  The battery is soldered in and it is tricky to replace especially for a novice.  there are sites that you can send your ipod to that will replace it for you and on the cheap in comparison to apple.
here is one that i know people have used with good resaults.

  • My ipod mini screen is fading

my i pod mini screen fades after about 5 minutes of use and then im blindly navigating through my ipod...it still plays ...if i dont use my ipod for a day or so it seems to get darker but then within a few minutes it fades again

well how long have you had it??? If you think it is braking you can bring it to a local Apple store or if one is not close to you you can call the Apple Company and they will send you another one free...thats what they did with my friends but since they dont make minis anymore they might give you a nano or video in replacement...have you tried restarting it??? (other than that i dont know!) Sorry...glad to help though!

  • Ipod Mini Screen is blank but lit.

I have an Ipod Mini about 18 months old. Recently the screen lights up but is totally blank, no apple logo, no menus, etc.
Reset does not do anything. Totally discharging the battery
and then trying reset does nothing.
I tried to update the internal software but the only option
available is "Restore", "Update" is grayed out. I can hear the songs, just no way to choose one.
    Can anyone help?

I can no longer even access the music, as I can't
tell what function is being highlighted.

Right now I am pretty ticked at my Ipod mini too. The screen lights up but there is no words or anything, I cant see what I'm highlighting and on top of everything its warranty went out a long time ago.

  • Ipod mini screen scratches

I have a few scratches on the screen of my ipod mini. Any suggestions for removing them? Thanks!!!

    Hello Joan,
You may not beleive it, I used the original toothpaste and managed to remove some scratches on the screen of my iPod . However, if you do not want to take this risk go and buy this stuff - RadTech Ice Cream iPod Acrylic Polish, which works as well ..

  • Ipod Mini screen

I just got an ipod mini and the screen keeps fading so I turned the contrast to the maximum and it was good for a minute or so then it faded again. With the contrast a max the screen is still as if the contrast was at minimum. the rest works fine so what should I do.

    Christopher,
If you just got it (I assume it's brand new), you would be better off returning it for an exchange.
You could try restoring it, but this sounds like more than a software issue.

  • Apple logo on ipod mini screen

I have a question that I really hope it will get answered.
I have had my 6GB Ipod mini for about 7 months now, and I experienced no problem until last month.
If I try to turn my Ipod mini on after at least 2 days of non-use, the apple logo will appear and erase the shuffle function (meaning that I lose where the shuffling was), and the battery decreases about 1/2 way.
I tried restoring and updating, but no luck.
    Can someone please help me!
    Thanks!

    Yes it is normal.
You might want to hit "sovled" next to Jeff's post so that he gets points and credit for answering your question. It also helps if someone has a similar question. They come here and know which post solved the issue!
In long threads marked solved, it is confusing as to who helped if no posts are marked helpful or solved.
