Dropped iPod now screen is blank, restored still not working

I dropped my ipod classic, screen blank, still plays music, tried restoring it, still nothing, any advice?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, first make sure the hold switch has not been activated, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may take a couple of tries.
Otherwise, wait for the iPod's battery to fully drain. Then connect it to a power source charge up as normal. It might be necessary to restore the Nano via iTunes after that as there may be corrupt files still leftover from improperly ejecting the iPod.

  • I have restored my ipod nano 2nd generation but its still not working

i have reset my ipod and restored it but it is still not working. i have connected to itunes and it has loaded some music onto it but though the light comes on you cannot see anything else on the screen. any suggestions would be appreciated

It might be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • I reset my ipod touch and now it says to conect to iTunes and im on my computer and the ipod is pluged up but its still not working HELP please!!!

    HELP MEEE!!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Itouch is locked. screen unresponsive. Restore did not work (x4).  Any suggestions?

restored over 4 times.  nothing seems to work.  itouch screen locked up. voice over command is on. device is ready to configure, but i can not use screen.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If defective and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

  • TS3274 camera screen is blank/ black and not working.

Camera screen is blank and wont work.

    Try closing the Camera app:
    1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
    2. Hold down the Camera app for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close app
    4. Tap area above Task Bar to return to Home screen
If the above doesn't solve the problem, do a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • IPod in Recovery Mode Loop, Restore Does Not Work

When I turn my iPod on it says "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." I connect it to iTunes, restore it and then it says that it is still in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
Nothing I've tried has worked. I've put it in disk mode, I've changed the drive letter so Windows doesn't confuse it with anything else. I tried to go to the Genius bar but they were so backed up the only appointment I could get was for 8pm tomorrow!
    Hopefully someone can help!

I've got the same problem with my iPod nano 3rd generation. I'll connect it to iTunes, and it says that an iPod has been detected in recovery mode, and it'll ask me to keep it connected to the computer. It'll then prepare it for recovery, and then tell me there's been an iPod detected in recovery mode. It'll perform this loop several times before I'm given the option to restore it, in which the iPod displays an old version of the iPod interface (I'm talking 1st or 2nd generation of the classic iPod).
Once I'm given the option to restore, it says "Extracting software", finishes, and says that the iPod is being restarted, and then starts with the "iTunes needs to prepare your iPod for recovery. Please leave your iPod connected." loop once again.
I would really prefer to not have to drive to the Apple store to get this problem fixed...

  • Address Book Not Working, Tried to Restore still Not Working

My address book isn't working. You can see what it does by clicking the link to the screenshot below. All menus are grayed out. and when i go into preferences It freeze's then I have to Force Quit. Thankfully I have Back up files of my address book. But even restoring them doesn't fix the problem. I'm thinking the actually Address Book program is messed up. What should I do???

    K Rock XP,
You may want to try the plist replacement one more time. Make sure that you use the restart option.
Replacing individual OS X applications is rarely productive in correcting application problems. Unless there is some reason to suspect that you have adversely affected the installation, for now you will be better off pursuing another course of action. Can you correlate the appearance/lack of function with any other event?
If you create another user account, can you duplicate the behavior of Address Book in that new account?
If Address Book functions in another account it indicates that it is not a system wide problem, and you may benefit from following the troubleshooting procedures listed in Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption, by Dr. Smoke. Once again, let us know what happens.

    Hi b1kxrw54,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!

If you do not find a solution in the iPod nano (6th generation) - User Guide, suggest that you call AppleCare if still under warranty or take a trip to your local Apple Store or AASP.

  • I downloaded the latest iOS7 to my iPad and then the screen went blank and would not respond.   I have tried pressing the two buttons together and briefly get the Apple logo but still can not start up, the logo disappears.   I have tried connecting the iP

I downloaded the latest iOS7 to my iPad and then the screen went blank and would not respond.   I have tried pressing the two buttons together and briefly get the Apple logo but still can not restart, the logo disappears.   I have tried connecting to my iMac to restore the iPad but the device does not show up (I have an old iMac).   What else can I do?

You need to be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 at the very least in order to sync your iPad with iTunes so you could update your Mac, if it can be updated, and if you care to do so.
If that's not an option, you will have to find someone that can restore the device for you with their computer running iTunes or make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them to restore the device for you.
I hope that you have an iCloud backup, because you will lose everything on the device when it is restored.
Snow Leopard can still be purchased in the U.S. Apple Online Store.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Also, I would not give up on the reset technique....holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. It takes about 10-15 seconds and sometimes just a little longer to get the logo to appear.

  • HT1384 My ipod's screen is blank even when in the dock. Why?

I had my ipod plugged into my computer which I was using on battery while making my playlist from itunes. When it came time to transfer onto the ipod, the ipod's screen was blank and not responding. Then I noticed it wasn't showing up on the itunes either. However, I plugged it right into the dock station and it still has a blank screen and not responding when I press on it.
Please help........I need it for my class tomorrow morning.
    Thank you.
    Venera *****

    Hello there, Venera.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some practical steps for troubleshooting your issue:
iPod troubleshooting basics and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1382
    Particularly:
    Start with these first
Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for the iPod.
In some cases, simply updating to the latest versions of iTunes and iPod Software may resolve your issue.
Visit the iPod Support page if you have questions about using your iPod or need help with an issue.
Check out these helpful tutorials for more information on updating and troubleshooting your iPod.
Your iPod doesn't respond, won't turn on, or the display remains blank
If your iPod doesn't respond, is "frozen", won't turn on, or nothing appears on the LCD screen check for these possible causes:
If your iPod has a Hold switch, it may be on. Check the Hold switch to make sure it's not in the locked position. If it is, unlock it and try using iPod again.
Tip: Even if the Hold switch is already in the unlocked position, it's sometimes helpful to toggle it so it's locked and unlocked again.
You may need to reset your iPod. Resetting your iPod does not affect your music or data files.
Your iPod's battery may not be charged. Plug your iPod in, wait for a moment, press a button to turn it on, and check the screen. Here are some easy steps to get the most out of your battery. Note: On recent iPod models, when the battery is completely empty, your computer may not recognize your iPod for up to 30 minutes even though it's connected and charging.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.
