Dropped ipod. White screen.

Hello.I dropped my ipod touch, and there's white screen. What should I do? My warranty have already ended. It happened about a week ago,and I tried holding home/power buttons, going to dfu mode etc. nothing worked... When i dropped it,voice control still worked.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. Could be just a loose connection or maybe more serious problem

  • Dropped iPod, white screen 60gb model.

    Hello,
First let me say I have done extensive research and have not found any viable solution to my problem. I dropped my iPod from about 5 feet off the ground. After I picked it up it had a white screen. I immediately tried to reset it, and it reset still with a white screen, but this time I could see all the menus. The only thing is, there is no text on any of the menus. I can scroll and get around through the choppy looking screens, I can even play music if I click enough buttons, but there is no text and the entire screen is choppy looking. You can even see the blue highlight showing which tab you are scrolling over, but alas there is no text to show which menus they are. On top of it, there are a lot of vertical lines in between the menu options. At reset, there are also 3 vertical transparent lines unequally spaced apart, all of which overlay the blank white screen.
I've tried resetting it a ton of times, letting the battery drain for 24 hours then turning it on, still didn't work.
The only thing I have not done is an attempt at restoring it. I am afraid if I restore it, it could screw it up even further to the point where I wont be able to use it at all.
    Any advice is appreciated.

The same thing just happened to me about 15 minutes ago. I dropped my husband's Nano. It landed smack on it's 'back'. The screen is mainly white with blackish gray dots and streaks. I can't read anything but it plays.
Were you ever able to fix yours...or do I have to tell my husband that I broke his new ipod?

  • IPod white screen of death... if I can even get it on.

So my iPod randomly decided to stop turning on. It does not respond to soft reset at all, and it does not respond when I try and connect it to a computer (I've tried three different ones). The only time it turns on, is in my iPod FM transmitter player in my car, and when I put it in that, I see a blank white screen, and I can't do anything in it. As soon as I take it off, it turns off again.
    Any ideas?
This is my second iPod, got the first one replaced, but now I'm out of warranty, and I think it's ridiculous that I have to pay to see a fix when there's always SOMETHING wrong with this iPod.

I'm assuming it MIGHT be the cable, so I will try plugging it into a friend's wall adapter, but if anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know?

  • Ipod  - white screen of death

I have an white 30gb first genteration of the fifth generation video ipods. It will not work. The screen just stays white all the time. If you restart it it goes off then when it starts up the screen is just white. No apple icon.
Have any ideas how to fix it, this started happening after a software update.
    Thanks
    Taylor

    Any help here?

  • Dropped iPod now screen is blank, restored still not working

I dropped my ipod classic, screen blank, still plays music, tried restoring it, still nothing, any advice?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, first make sure the hold switch has not been activated, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may take a couple of tries.
Otherwise, wait for the iPod's battery to fully drain. Then connect it to a power source charge up as normal. It might be necessary to restore the Nano via iTunes after that as there may be corrupt files still leftover from improperly ejecting the iPod.

  • HT201263 Ipod white screen HELP!

hey i have an ipod touch 4th gen and this morning it went to white screen and i cannot connect to my itunes because it isnt recognizing my ipod for some reason (i am guessing because of the white screen). When i try to reset my Ipod with holding lock and home button it shows me the apple then goes back to white screen. I have never encountered this problem before so I am stuck, and will this possibly result in my ipod being dead and me having to get another one.
This was coused by me trying to update to ios 6 and it just radomly stopped and wen to white screen.

I had the same problems: constant white screen (or sometimes white with colored lines) and iTunes would not recognize the iTouch.  After much experimenting, I was finally able to recover my iTouch using the following steps:
    1. Update iTunes to the latest version.
    2. Allow the iTouch to fully drain.  (Mine was so locked up that the 2-button hold reboot wouldn't work anymore.  You might try skipping this step if yours isn't quite as angry!).
    3. With iTunes running, connect the iTouch to the PC.
    4. Hold both the buttons until the Apple symbol appears, THEN KEEP HOLDING until a "connect to PC" screen appears.
At this point, iTunes finally recognized it long enough to allow me to select "recover".  As the update was downloading, the iTouch lost connectivity.  After the download was complete, I repeated step 4 above, and was able to select recover again.  Although it took a very long time, eventually the recovery completed, and iOS6 was installed.
By the way, if you are like me and did not have the latest iTunes installed, the restore process will download some version of iOS5 (instead of iOS6) then refuse to go any further after the download is complete.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod white screen

My ipod keeps saying 'connect to power'.. when I do it then says 'ok to disconnect' and I can't do anything after this. This is a white screen with black writing. What to do?!  Does it need to go back to Apple to fix?

Its ok now. the new screen is not working. Working fine after the second replacement screen.

  • Video iPod- white screen, 3 beeps, turns itself back on, G5 can't recognize

With my 60 GB video iPod all I now get is a white screen. All I can do is turn it off by pressing Center/Menu and get three beeps, but it turns itself on again with those same three beeps, to the blank white screen again. My G5 does not recognize the iPod when plugged in. The iPod and the G5 are both still under warranty. Anyone have any suggestions?

    iPod Issues?
These five steps (known as the five Rs) will conquer most iPod issues.
    1. Reset your iPod.
    2. Retry with a different USB port.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software.
    5. Restore your iPod.
    Those are the five Rs

  • HT201263 ipod white screen will not restore

Tonight got white screen on my ipod, looked on apple website - tried to reboot and then tried to restore still white screen any other ideas please

Try the steps in the article that I linked above.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com)  on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again.
An easy way to find out if this is caused by the security software is to just uninstall it. If it works, just update the iPhone then reinstall the security software and try to set it up in a way that doesn't cause a problem.

  • Ipod white screen & won't work

My iPod doesn't work. it used to have a black screen with a white light on the screen but now it is just all white. I can't play music or anything. I already resorted but it didn't work. Please help I barely bought it on Christmas.

Try going to your nearest Apple store and asking the people at the Genius bar, if nothing you find online works.

  • Dropped Ipod Mini/Screen Damaged

I dropped my Ipod Mini and the screen is partially damaged. I would like to get this repaired. I do have the Apple Protection Plan but not sure if this would be covered.
Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Blair

    No, it is not covered.
If Apple would even repair it, they usually charge $209 plus shipping plus tax.

  • Ipod white screen HELP!!!

My screen is white after updating the iso6 and it has froze have tryed draining my battery and charging it up but it has the apple logo then goes white and ive tryed restoring it in itunes but itunes wont identify my ipod. IVE tryed pressing the home button and the lock botton together and it shows an apple logo and then goes white HELP!!!!

    Hello,
    Please try the following:
    1. Reset the Device:
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off, then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.
    2. Put the device in DFU mode:
    1. Connect the device to iTunes
    2. Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
    3. After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
    4. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
I hope this solves your problem.

  • Ipod keeps getting white screen

My ipod keeps getting the 'white screen of death', almost every time I leave it... does that mean there's something wrong with it and it's dying?
    Thanks

If you're lucky, it will be under warranty. Mine got the 'WSOD' one month after purchase. The replacement is in the store now.
If you're out of warranty, google search ipod white screen. There are several recommendations on how to attempt a fix.
For me, none of them worked. Apple store staff were gracious, and quickly agreed to replace.
    Good luck.

  • White screen of death ipod touch 4g 32gb [dropped]

I got my ipod touch 4g 32gb for Christmas 2012, so it's still quite new, i accidently dropped it on the kitchen floor, screen face down [facebook app was currently running at the time] it had a silocon case on it so it wasn't as bad, when i pick up my ipod to check it was alright, the screen was all white [white screen of death].
I've tried 'home+lock screen buttons' & i have also tried 'Home+lock screen+ volume up buttons' this didn't work.
my friend suggested that i leave it to drain out and after 24 hours it died out, after about 20-30 mins i put it back on charge and the white screen came back up, i took it off and i'm leaving it for the night and will try it again tomorrow, does any one have any suggestions on other ways i could fix it, please help, thanks.
