Dropped MacBook, charger port tilting inwards, not charging.

I accidently dropped my MacBook on the side where all the ports are and the port where the MagSafe charger goes into has been pushed inwards. Now when I plug it in, the light is very dim and the MacBook says 'Not charging'. I know it's not the charger because I have tried both my brothers chargers and it didn't work. Do I have to send it to Apple or is there something I can do?
(Sorry if this is in the wrong topic)

  • Macbook charger-brand new, no light, not charging?

    Hello everyone,
Recently I was having problems with my MacBook charger not working. It was almost 4 years old, so I figured it was time to order a new one anyways. So I ordered a new one and received it today, and the charger is still not lighting up. The laptop is also not charging, however it does recognize it because it says "Not charging" where the battery would usually be indicated. Does anyone have any idea on what would be causing this? I'm thinking it might be the battery, but not 100% sure. Here is what my laptop is showing:

  • Macbook Pro Early 2011 says (Not Charging)

Hello, my Macbook Pro Early 2011 says (Not Charging) when I unplugged the charger, so I can't see how much battery percentage it has, the battery life runs normally, but I can't see where it goes because of the (Not charging) message. I can only see it when I plug the power adapter, but once I unplugged it, it comes the (Not charging) message again. please help. thank you.

ok, the problem is that it says (Not charging) even though the power adapter is not plugged in. It is charging normally but doesn't show the battery percentage because it shows a (Not charging) message. The only way to know the battery percentage is plugging in the power adapter, but once I unplugged it, the (Not charging) message appears again and don't let me see how much battery it has left.

I accidentally dropped my charger and now it won't charge what do I do?

You can get one for about $20 on eBay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?rt=nc&_nkw=macbook+power+adapter&_dmpt=Laptop_Ada pters_Chargers&_sop=12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m301

  • Melting connection port of Macbook Charger.

I purchased a macbook charger in Jan 2011, but now the connectign port has started melting down. Is it unusual??

If you can't charge it then you need to take it to Apple and get the socket fixed, once your battery goes flat that's the end of any use so there's no point trying to struggle on this way.

  • NO power on my MacbookPro: it all started with Battery of my MacBook Pro saying it was not charging (even if the pro was plugged) and it then switched off and now wont turn back on. There is no light on the magsafe and no startup noises at all.

If you have Apple Care or your computer is still under warranty, give them a call and get a case number.  Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Macbook charger on Macbook Pro?

I forgot my charger for my MBP at home and want to know if I can use my buddies regular Macbook charger he's not using. TIA.
    Dave

Yes, you can use the MB adapter to run your MBP. But it won't provide sufficient power to charge the battery while you are using your MBP.

  • Different Macbook Charging Issue

I've been having a problem with my Macbook. I used to get very good battery life (4 1/2 hours) but recently, that has been cut down substantially. I started trying to figure out why, and I realized that my power adapter was givining me a green light for charged.
I looked in my menu bar and sure enough the battery meter read 35%. Which is clearly not charged.
I proceeded to completely drain the battery, remove it, and then reconnect everything, at which point it began charging again. A day later, I was once again looking at my computer not charging at 26%.
I've reset the SMC (or PMU or whatever it is now), PRAM, and recalibrated the battery, booted into safe-boot and repaired permissions (which found nothing to fix), and run TechTool Pro. Yet I've seen no change.
I looked into some other posts on similiar issues and I think I have something a little different. Where some people are claiming that there battery is fried due to an Update, a trip to my system profiler shows:
    Battery Information:
    Battery Installed: Yes
    First low level warning: No
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 2284
    Remaining Capacity (mAh): 583
    Amperage (mA): 0
    Voltage (mV): 11738
    Cycle Count: 77
    AC Charger Information:
    Connected: Yes
    Charging: No

    Hi William,
If all the remedy you tried and not resolved it, could be you have a bad battery or bad PMU / charging system.
Visit apple store and swap your battery with their demo unit, and see if your macbook charging their demo battery and your battery charged by their demo unit.
    Good Luck.

  • My dropped Macbook plays a five note song three times and on the third time, the last note drops in pitch like it is dying. I have not shut it off, but it does this coming out of sleep mode. Can't find any references to this. Anyone know what's happening?

Mostly because you are not using any capital letters or paragraph returns and your post is difficult to read.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you didn't cause the problem and the charger is in warranty, take it to any Apple Store or reseller and you will get a new charger for free.
If you caused that the MacBook charger broke, you have to buy a MagSafe charger at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC461LL/A/apple-60w-magsafe-power-adapter-for- macbook-and-13-inch-macbook-pro?fnode=5a

    Because line-in has been removed.
It does allow for an Apple headset with mic., but I don't know if it would work with third-party ones.
You'll need to use a Griffin iMic or similar to use line-in via a USB port.
The same goes for the 15" retina, the newest MBA and the new iMac (whenever it finally arrives).

  • Using MacBook Charger

I just got a new MacBook for my wife(btw, very nice machine) and I noticed the battery charger is significantly smaller than my MacBook Pro.
I also saw that the battery charger for the MacBook Pro is rated as 85W versus 60W in the MacBook.
My question is, can I use the MacBook charger to charge my MacBook Pro? It would be nice if I could do this as I can carry a lighter charger during travel.
    Comments?
    Thanks.

Thanks. Seems like the MacBook charger can charge MacBook Pro!!!
I tried it and I saw the light was on when connecting the MacBook adapter into my MacBookPro so I assume this is indeed working/charging.
In this case, if a MacBookPro owner wants to buy a second adapter, why should anyone buy a BIGGER and HEAVY adapter (in MacBook Pro) than a much smaller one in MacBook? And what is the purpose of having a 80W adapter when 60W is enough???

  • 15" Macbook Charger (Model#: A1286) - Charger (Model#: A1290)

I have a 15" Macbook Pro (Model#: A1286). I accidentally misplaced my charger and was told by one of my friends he had a extra macbook charger. The macbook charger he has is a T-shaped 85W Charger (Model#: A1290). He said I could use it aslong as it works. I was wondering if someone could tell me if this charger would work on my laptop. Thanks.

    Yes, it will work fine.
