  • IPod display shows Apple logo and does nothing...

I bought my iPod 4 days ago and it was working fine until this morning when I went to turn it on and the screen displayed only the Apple logo and would do nothing else. I attempted to reset it and I plugged it into my computer and still nothing would happen. I also noticed that it is making a rattling sound when I move it, though I have not dropped or damaged it in anyway that I am aware of. Please help.

ive had this problem before..if you hold down both the menu button and the center button at the same time until it shuts off, it will restart. try that and see if you can fix it.

  • HT201412 My IPhone screen shows a persistant apple logo and does nothing as if frozen

My IPhone has a persistant apple logo on the screen. It does not turn on or off and acts like it is frozen. I took it to the A T&T store and they suggested going to the Apple store. Is there anything I can do before having to drive 2 hours to get to the store?

This is not a virus, unless you have jailbroken those devices. If you have, a total restore to factory settings is required, both to remove the jailbreak and to remove whatever malware you might have installed.
As for a cause, what "security screen" are you seeing? Are you able to unlock those devices?
Most likely, since both were affected at the same time, in the same way, someone has hacked your iCloud account and is using it to remotely lock or wipe both of those devices. You should probably change your iCloud account password ASAP.
Further, if your iCloud account is also your Apple ID, you should enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. This will prevent a hacker from taking full control and locking you permanently out of your Apple ID and iCloud account. If that were to happen, and those devices are running iOS 7, you will be unable to unlock them again, even with Apple's help.

  • Apps prompts for Apple ID, then does nothing - what to do?

I just set up my new 11" MacBook Air with the assistant, restoring all of my apps and user data from the TimeMachine backup of my old MacBook.
Now, a couple of apps I purchased on my old MacBook prompts me to sign in using my Apple ID when I try to launch them (since they were purchased on another computer). But when I enter my username and password, the app just quits, and if I click it again, the app won't launch at all.
Restarting, and signing in and out of Mac App Store doesn't help. Should I deactivate the apps on my old MacBook? How?
What am I supposed to do to fix this?

Removing the applications manually (dragging them to the trash), and then reinstalling them from the Mac App Store solved the problem.

Please help me out as this is very irritating. This has been happening for the last 20-30 minutes. It had roughly half battery left.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Computer boots with Apple logo then goes black

So my MacBook Pro boots up withe the Apple logo then goes black as if the it is set on the lowest dim setting, you can just barely make out the icons on the screen so it is booting into the log on screen. I tried brightness, I tried holding down shift, you get a flash of blue then goes black. I tried the startup disk it starts up and goes black, you can just make out the outline of the language selection on the startup disk.
    Any suggestions.

    1. Try doing a Parameter RAM reset - hold down apple/option/p/r keys at start up and wait for three chimes before releasing the keys.
    2. Boot holding down Apple/S and don't let go until you see scrolling text.
When that stops and you see a root#: prompt enter
    fsck -fy
Let it run through all the checks and repairs.
If it fails first time, at any time, or finds and fixes a fault - run the command again and keep doing so (some fixes can take several passes) until it says "Appears to be OK" then enter
    reboot

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

  • Boots to Apple logo, then grey screen for eternity

There's a glimmer of life, so I'm hoping that this computer can be salvaged.  This is a first generation Macbook Pro, so it's getting on in age.  However, I haven't heard any physical symptoms of failure (hard drive and fans sound like they're fine), so I'm hoping there's something I can do here.  What happens with various boot methods:
OS X, normal: I get the Apple logo, then it goes back to a plain grey screen.  I can leave the computer sit for hours, and it'll get warm like it's trying to do something yet never goes anywhere
Windows XP normal (boot camp): the images below tell the whole story there.  Can the lines or codes be used to diagnose the problem?  The ati2dvag error (plus the way the screen looks) makes me think video issues?
Windows XP safe mode: gets stuck loading one particular file.
OS X, safe: I CAN boot this way!  I can complete a "repair permissions" task; verifying disk comes up saying that everyething is okay.
Is there anything I can do while I'm in Safe Boot that will let me help try to diagnose this problem?  The first time it happened, I tried an SMC reset and was able to get back into to OS X normally.  But the problem has returned, and numerous attempts at an SMC reset have proved useless.  Thank you for your help!

Take the machine in for service. Nothing we can do.

  • My ipod classic turns on with apple logo then shuts off about 30 seconds later, when plugged in my windows and itunes will not recognize it.

earlier my itunes told me that my files were corrupted and I needed to restore, so I did.  In the middle of the restore I lost internet connection. Now my computer and Itunes will not recognize my Ipod and if it is not plugged in when I turn the Ipod on it only shows the apple logo then shuts off after 30 seconds.  If it is plugged in it will charge, but Itunes and Windows will not recognize it.  I have tried the menu + select shutoff multiple times with no change.  All it will say while it is charging is do not disconnect.

The clicking sound is your iPod Hardisk, trying to retract and find the boot sector unsuccesfully.
Hopefully, you can do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as in this great post by tt2., it wont fix your problem, but let you know, how dire is your Hardisk health.
So only as a last resort, one way, to get the stuck Hardisk head free, is to bang the iPod on a rubber mouse pad, when you reset it, but do it at your own risk, some very lucky guys got it working again for the next 14 months, like myself.

  • Menu flashes, then apple logo, then menu... Help!

I bought a used 40GB Apple TV on eBay (yes, that was probably my first mistake).
The first time I turned it on, it set up language, network, etc. with no problem, but when it got to syncing with iTunes, the 5-digit code would "blink" on the screen (about 1 sec) and would then show me the Apple logo, then a new 5-digit code, the Apple logo again, etc. - and would continue this indefinitely.
I pressed menu to get that to stop and it went through the opening graphics - then when it finally got to the menu, it did the same thing with the menu - menu for 1 second, then the Apple logo, menu, logo, etc. I've made sure everything is plugged in (it is), I've done everything I can to make sure it isn't a network issue (network is working fine) and I've restarted several times. I've also restored factory settings and it made no change. Sometimes when I restart it is fine for a minute or two, but it always goes back to the menu to logo pattern.
I have two computers and I have made sure that both of them are off to make sure it isn't a connection issue with one of them.
Please help! - I was so looking forward to my Apple TV and am SO disappointed!

My problem started after a factory reset.
I had the same problem and found that pulling the network connection immediately stopped the back and forth between the Apple logo and the menu. If I plug the cable back in it immediately starts again.
Also, as soon as I put in my wireless network settings the problem comes right back.
It appears that this problem is caused by something the Apple TV is trying to do related to the network.
I reset my router and now everything is working fine.
Perhaps others could confirm whether resetting their routers fixes the problem for them and perhaps Apple could get something in the FAQ if resetting the router is the answer.
