    any thoughts anyone??

Perhaps the reason you haven't had any replies is because there is no such thing as an 8GB iPod Classic.
I suggest that you begin by correctly identifying which iPod you have.

hello - my ipod touch worked well until a couple of months of non-use. Now, I cannot access the internet thru my wifi. All my other devices have no such problem. I have tried resetting wifi, "forgetting network" turning wifi off and on....nothing works....can anyone help?

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
Does the iPod see the network? Error message? Does the iPod connect to other networks?

  • Previous iPod Touch worked fine, new iPod Touch can't get an IP Address

I had a version 1.1.4 iPod Touch for several days and it worked quite well. I was able to automatically connect to wireless connections at work, at home and at my parents house without meddling with any wireless settings and by just using DHCP.
The other day I exchanged the iPod Touch for a different one, due to a defect in the case manufacturing, and with this iPod Touch, I haven't been able to connect to any of the previously mentioned wireless networks. I noticed that I wasn't able to get an IP address at all at my parents house, but I figured it was because I hadn't upgraded to 1.1.4, and was still at 1.1.3. I upgraded to 1.1.4 though this morning and at the work network, I'm having the same issue. I can easily connect to the wifi networks, but if I look at the DHCP settings, it's all blank. I can't get an IP address.
I looked around the forum here and found a great deal of people who for some reason couldn't connect to their particular wireless setup. This problem however is different in that I could easily connect to many wireless setups, but now that I've seemingly just switched to a different iPod Touch, I can't connect to the same ones at all.
It seems weird to me that the issue could just be that I got a different iPod, and I really think there must be some other reason, but I can't think of one. From all outward appearances they're the exact same. Same networks, same version.
What else could be the issue?

If your new Touch can't get on any network, then does it have a MAC address assigned to it? Go to Settings/General/About and scroll to the bottom to see if you have a "Wi-Fi Address", which is the MAC address assigned to your particular unit.
    See this article for reference:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306067
If you're able to get on some networks but not others (where you had no problem before) then perhaps there is a subtle difference in the new unit's performance. You can try restoring it to see if that helps, but that means erasing everything and starting over.

  • My Ipod touch Worked Fine Until Sound Just Dropped. Im not using apple earphones, But its not the earphones that are Bugging me its when i remove them Audio Fails.

    Try in order:
    - Resetting the iPOd:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod from backup via iTunes on your computer
    - Restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod via iTunes.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod touch works fine but not nano?

    Heya,
I've got a 4th generation ipod that I bought for my dad and I have an ipod touch (1st gen). I have no problems w/ the touch as it is easily recognised in iTunes however the ipod nano is not being recognised at all either by Windows 7 (64-bit) or iTunes. I didn't have this problem in Vista with the nano at all.
Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I don't think it's the apple usb driver as the iPod touch is detected and can be sync'd. I've disabled all other services to try to narrow it down and still no luck.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. The touch uses the Apple Mobile Device Service for syncing and whatnot, but the nano would be using the iPod Service. So if there was trouble with the iPod Service on the PC, you could have trouble with your nano even though the Touch is working fine.
Let's have a look at your iPod Service in Services.
In your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage". Expand "Services and Applications" and click "Services". Maximise the Window so you can see what's going on.
Find the iPod Service in the list of services. What is currently showing up next to it? For example, I see "Started" and "Manual".

  • 4th gen iPod touch worked fine yesterday, this morning will not power on

I've always used my iPod for almost everything, contact, notes memos, calender planning, videos and internet stuff. I have a special cord I connect to the wide screen tv and can play videos and any movies directly from the internet. A video system for the car to play from my iPod for the kids. In other words it's a very important device for me. It worked fine last night as always. This morning I went to use it I got nothing, no apple icon or anything. I tought maybe I left it on, so I connected it to power. 20 minutes later, no signs of life. I removed the protective rubber case I keep it in to prevent accidental breakage and noticed beads of moisture inside the case. Could this be related some how? I'm hoping this is something I can at home. I really can't afford to be without this too long,
(important contacts and job related notes and such). Please help, Thanks.

You may end up erasing the iPod. Just restore from backup if that is the case
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Does dropping my ipod touch stop me from getting a replacement?

Okay so I've been having problems with my ipod touch's home button for a while now, I cant use the home button at all anymore its stuck and it wont take me to the home screen. I havent dropped it to make that problem happen, it just happened itself, and I researched on it and a lot of people have this issue. A couple days ago I dropped my ipod and the screen cracked and its pretty bad I still have a one year warranty for it, but i was wondering if I'll still be able to replace my ipod touch?   Will there be any cost for it?

  • I was in Aussie last month and dropped my iPod Touch (4th Gen) on the road. The screen was cracked on the top left-hand corner. The screen got fixed but the wireless stopped working. Can I still get it fixed under my warranty? (bought last July)

I was in Aussie last month and dropped my iPod Touch (4th Gen) on the road. The screen was cracked on the top left-hand corner (where the wireless area is). The screen got fixed but the wireless stopped working. So I am wireless-less... I bought it last July and its still under warranty, but can I still claim a repair on it?

No because it was physical damage

  • I dropped my iPod touch 4 generation on my kitchen tile and it shattered, like chunks of the screen are coming off. But everything works and I've had it for a 1 ½ years now. I don't have the extended warranty or anything but can I get it replaced somehow

I don’t have the extended warranty or anything but can I get it replaced somehow? if anyone knows anything please let me know. thank you!

Depending on the extent of the damage, Apple may replace the iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to repair the iPod for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty will be void.
