Dropped phone in water. Worked. Then needs to be restored? Restored but same message comes up?
Dropped phone in water. Worked. Hour later said it needs to be restored? Restored but same message comes up? Keeps saying "searching." Help?
Your iPhone is most likely fried - out of warranty replacement on iPhone 4
is $149 US.
Try putting your iPhone in a bag of uncooked rice for 5 days to draw out
the moisture. It may work temporarily, but long term you are looking at
replacing the iPhone or upgrading to a newer model.

Dropped phone in water. Seems to be working. Should I do anything?
Dropped phone in water. Seems to be working. Should I do anything?
In addition to what gdgmacguy said, be sure to regularly back up and sync
so when the coming failure does happen, you will have your data saved
and can put it onto your new iPhone. -
Just added a number of photos from my phone. It worked fine and I printed other photos but shut it down and Now it wont relaunch!! help.
I need a special tool just to access my own photos?
I suggested "Find any File" because it is easier to use than the Finder's search - the results there will depend, on what you have included in your Spotlight index.
To search using the Finder, open a Finder window; press the key combination ⌘F, and then set the search window to search "This Mac" and "Kind is 'Photo Library'"
Only, if the library should have become corrupted, this may not work. And the search will not look inside the packages.
The whole iPhoto library directory is only 556 MB so I guess the videos are lost for good.
How is the "Importing > Copy items to the iPhoto Library" flag set? See my last post.
If you imported with "store files" in there original location, the photos and videos will have remained on the card, until the crad has been erased.
Is there a way to start iPhoto from scratch so at least I can start over and have it not destory all my data next time?
You can create a new iphoto library, by using the command "File > Switch to Library > Create New".
Is there way to import my photos and videos without using iPhoto?
You can use the utility "Image Capture", that comes with every Mac to import your photos to folders on your Mac.
This program is horrendous!
I never had problems with it and like it, but I understand .... -
When i first synced my iphone it synced around 3000 photo's. It now wont ley me sync my phone at all as i need the new ios version but because of the photo's i dont have enough space but i cant delete the photo's because my phone wont sync. HELP PLEASE!!
Use iPhone as designed. Like any digital camera, download your photos to your computer and delete from the iPhone to create space required for iOS upgrade.

I can't download the latest itunes (I need to for my phone) because it says I need an updated OS version, but my computer says everything is up to date. Any help?
First you need to install Mac OS 10.6. To do this you have to buy the OS disk. (This is a whole different OS, not an update of 10.5.) Order it here:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
You may be able to install an even newer OS, but you have to get 10.6 first.
Please look at Apple Menu / About This Mac / More Info... and check under Hardware Overview for the Model Identifier of your Macbook. That will tell us whaat is the highest OS you can install. -
Our airport extreme network works fine with our 6 devices. But when someone comes over and tries to log on, they can't until we restart the airport. Then they can get on, but it knocks one of our devices off the network. Any ideas?
I have not done a factory reset, I was trying to find out if I had some setting configured wrong first. I figured I'd just make things worse if went through a reset!
Here is a couple of screen shots: -
My phone goes into "connect to Itunes" mode and locks up, I connect to Itunes and do a restore and then within 24 hours I get the same message again and the phone locks up. any ideas ?
You're welcome.
A hardware problem doesn't mean complete failure.
With a computer, a hard drive can have a partial or complete failure.
If it wasn't a hardware problem, it would be resolved after restoring the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup. If not, every iPhone running 5.1.1 would have the same problem. -
i need help really bad. im trying to sync music on my ipod, but a message comes up say " cannot synce photoes in ipod because the folder pictures cannot be found . what do i do ?
Try deleting the iPod Photos Cache folder. There may be more than one. For its location see:
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
Also, go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and make sure syncing photos is unchecked. -
Dropped phone in water and it still works.
I dropped my phone in water for 2 seconds and it still works but should i keep it in rice just in case or can i continue using it
Water and electronics don't mix.
Usually when there is water damage, you power off the phone and let it sit in a bag of uncooked rice fro at least 4 to 5 days.
The water damage is what is wrong with your phone.
You can get an out of warranty iphone at the Apple store. -
Help,
I was doing dishes and accidentally dropped my iPhone G4 in the water. I retrieved it as soon as I could and dried if off. I took out the sim card and it was dry, but I dried it anyway and I blew into everything to hopefully save it. It actaully worked for about an hour, now all it does is flash the Apple icon at me. I tried to restore it, but it tells me a "error occurred" and it couldn't finish the restore. Do I need a new one, or can this be resolved? At this point, you probably need a new phone. The worst thing to do after it got wet was to try to use it. The best thing to do in that situation is to turn it off and put it in a zip lock bag with dry rice for a week.

Dropped phone in water, trying to dry it out, what is the best way?
Dropped phone in bath water, what is the best way to drt it out and maybe save it?
Agreed. Mine went through the washer and appeared dead. These steps saved it but you must be patient and let it stay in the rice for the week. Very hard to do! Mine was fine functionally after that though the screen was blotched. The screen blotching cleared up after a week and then good as new!
Good luck! -
I dropped my iPhone 4 in water put it in rice and turned it off for 2 says then when i turned it on it was black but i could use voice control to call people and hear them perfectly and they could hear me but i couldn't see anything on my screen. Whats wrong with it?
If you can backup your phone before using the below option then I would back it up and use the out of warranty option:
Out-of-warranty* cost:
iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5: $269
iPhone 4s: $199
iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, Original iPhone: $149
Plus a $6.95 shipping fee. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax.
*Accidental damage isn’t covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty.
If you have important data that is still on the phone and you do not have a backup, and unable to do a backup, then try what I described earlier because the geniuses at the bar WILL NOT recover your data. Seeing that my technique worked for me, I will stand by my earlier response (the one that was removed).
Also, I would use silica/desiccant packs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ly-o7sAsFtI over rice any day. -
HT1349 dropped phone in water. How do i open phone to dry out
How do I dry out my iphone?
Put it in a sealed container with dry rice for at least 5 days. Do not touch it during that time. If you search the forum for phones dropped in water, you will find many threads that discuss this treatment.

I inadvertenty dropped phone in water, but retrieved in a matter of seconds.
Phone is now unable to be turned on. Have tried using both on/off & home buttons. Have had it on charge overnight but still not joy. HELP!!!!!
Electronics and water do not go together well.
Shutting it off and placing it in a container of uncooked rice or silica gel for about a week, might have saved it. Attempting to power it on or charge it so soon after it got wet has likely permanently cooked it if it wasn't completely fried already.
Make an appointment and get it replaced.
The phone getting "a little bit of water" in it is like a girl who is "a little bit pregnant". You either are or you are not. You can not be a little bit pregnant. It doesn't matter how wet the electronics are. They are wet. Putting electricity through the circuits while they are wet can completely fry them. -
my phone says ios 6 when plugged up if not it gets nothing.want call or do **** if i slide it will go to connect i tunes but if itry it will turn off anyway i have know i tunes right nowe
Your iPhone got wet and is now malfunctioning, probably prior to ceasing to function altogether. You didn't fix it. Best cut your losses and replace it.
