Dropped phone now my screen whites out

Help! I dropped my phone :S The screen still works when the phone is turned off and on again but when it goes to standby mode and I try to use my phone the screen is white. Any suggestions?

Even if you don't say you dropped it, don't be surprised or angry if they can tell it has been damaged accidentally and tell you it isn't covered. They are pretty good at detecting phones that have been dropped or gotten wet.

If Apple replaced the battery, contact them to check the phone, the battery replacement is covered by a warranty.

  • Dropped phone - now says 'no service'

    Help!
I dropped my last the other evening and had to dismantle the phone (took boack covers off) to release a jammed on/off button. Now however, I've lost all reception - it's permanently saying 'No service.'
Any idea what it may be? I dropped phone from low-level, can't imagine it's done that much damage?

It's apparently not reading your sim card. Power off the phone, remove and replace the sim card. Turn phone back on and see if you have service.

  • Constant "not responding" and screen whites out

Ever since I've been using Firefox 3.5 or so (currently Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.17) Gecko/20110420 Firefox/3.6.17) I have constant messages in the window bar (Not Responding) and the open page whites-over and Firefox quits responding. it's happened 4 times while I've typed this far. It makes the browser completely unusable. What is causing this? There's also a little grey box up by the search-bar that has "2c" in it I never noticed before where logos for various browsers I've used in the past usually have a logo.

It still happens when I turn off all extensions and in safe mode. I have 3 gigs of ram, Win 7 and if Firefox is open the thing constantly does this white-out, not responding thing. Same browser on my eMachines desktop and Toshiba Satellite laptop with XP is just been fine. Upgraded it to FF 4 on less used eMachines Saturday, though I don't really like the look and feel yet. Don't know if this is a Win7 problem or Firefox. Another weird thing is that bookmarks imported from Toshiba now won't let me save new bookmarks. Usually truncates the folder I put new bookmark in. If the browser crashes on the Win7 machine, recent bookmarks just disappear. Sometimes even when I do a controlled shutdown, they still disappear. Is the install corrupted possibly? And is there a way to wipe and reinstall it?

  • Dropped phone now screen won't work

Hi, I bought a Blackberry Pearl around 2 weeks ago. Today, for the first time, I dropped it from a height of 3 feet and the screen went white. I removed the battery because I could not turn it off with the button, when I tried to turn it back on, the screen would not respond. I get a black screen now, however, the cellphone still works, I still get calls. What do you recommend I do because where I am from, the people who can actually repair the blackberrys work for private companies and I purchased my phone online. First question, can the blackberry still be saved?  Second question, is the repair process simple?  Would a new screen do the deed?  I hope someone can assist me with this I was deeply shocked when I realized the phone didn't work the fall was nothing out of the ordinary and the phone was brand new, I feel ripped off .

It may have been a simple fall, but depending on how / where the phone "hit" the floor could have caused damage. Remember that electronic devices are fickle and sensitive to minor "shocks", so your phone very well could have fallen on that "magic spot" that made it break.
As for getting it fixed, you don't mention where you are, but you may want to search for an online repair shop that you can send your phone to.

  • This has been dropped and now has a white screen

My daughter dropped her 4th generation i pod touch and now half the screen is white, what should be the fix for this?

The $99 is the exchange price for an 8, 16 or 32 GB 4G iPod. It is $199 for a 64 GB one.
Some users have posted here that sometime the white screen from dropping is due to a lose connection. Try Googling.
Yu can send it to Apple. See:

  • Dropped phone, now screen black

Dropped iPhone 4, spidered rear of phone, no external damage to front screen but it is black. Still working because it will sound tone when I try and text it from another phone. BTW, how can I tell if the phone is CDMA or GSM?

The way to tell if the iPhone is CDMA or GSM is who is your cellular service provider?
If the back screen is broken, Apple can replace that for $49.  However, if there is other internal damage causing the black screen it will be an out-of-warranty replacement of the entire iPhone...for a 4 that will cost $149.  Take it to an Apple store genius bar and see what they say about it.

  • Dropped iPhone - Now my screen is blurry

I dropped it from about pocket height and now everything on my screen is really blurry, everything works, but it is pretty hard to text because the letters are blurred together. Is this warrantyable? Could they fix it at an apple store? You can't tell that i dropped it. I am not trying to scam apple, i just want to know what to do, I have only had the phone for about 3 months.

Warranty usually only covers manufacture defects. I work for AT&T Mobility and can honestly say that the warranty group scrutinizes over every piece of equipment to ensure that the defective equipment does in fact fall under warranty. Apple on the other hand may have other options. You stated the phone was dropped... This is not covered under warranty.
As for checking with your home owners insurance, I personally wouldn't recommend it. From what I've been told, the insurance companies are losing money with the way the policies are written today, so I would hate to file a claim for the mere cost of an iPhone, then have my policy dropped and be forced to shop around for a new policy at a higher price then what I'm paying now. Save the claim against "home owners" for when you need it in case of an emergency

  • 625 Phone locked and screen blanked out

I have a lock on my Lumia 625, and the phone is now locked with a black screen.  I have tried a soft reboot (volume down and power button) which allows me to see the usual screen for about two seconds before it fades to black.  The Windows Phone app rather helpfully tells me my phone is locked, which I know, but nothing more.  I rather suspect this is a question of  a hard reset - which I assume I can do with the power and volume keys.

Use this Nokia Software recovery tool..
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Dropped imac now the screen is jerky

Somehow my iMac fell over face first onto my desk and cracked the display. It seemed to be working fine, I ordered a new screen and replaced it very easily. But now, a few weeks later, the display is starting to get jerky and will go black. I do not know anything about hardware etc... but does this sound like a video card issue? And if so, can that be replaced by me? It's a 2011. I'd like to try to fix it myself because changing the display was so easy and only cost me 70 bucks vs the 400 or so that Apple would have charged.

You may be lucky and it is just a cable or a socketed item that is loose, you will need to take it to pieces again and check all internal connections.
Hope you get it sorted out.

  • Screen Whites Out

Hi All - I have an iMac 2Ghz intel Core 2 Duo. I think I bought it in around late 2007. I use it at home for web, music production with Logic, and a few other things.  It has always performed flawlessly. Twice in the last week, the screen has suddenly gone completely white with lines down it. I have to hold down the power button and restart. I have a strong feeling this is a hardware problem as in both cases I was just using Firefox, not anything heavy-duty.
Anyone experienced anything like this? Is this unit on the way out?

This may be caused by a screen problem. Try connecting another screen to your iMac and if it still doesn't work, the problem will be form you hardware. This can be you Graphical Card.

  • Dropped phone run a business all Apple products have to make an appointment to get a solution Disappointing service as either need a new screen or replacement not really technical experience needed Am I being unfair

Dropped phone have smashed screen  have Applecare 2 insurance so took into Apple store for either replacement or repair All prepared but not Apple I have to make an appointment next available appointment is Tuesday when Im working and not in town so now have to travel to appointment at Apple store in London
I get that if you have a technical issue you need to make appointment why can't Apple have an easily accessible service for cracked screen if people are covered

I believe his biggest grip here is not the cost of the replacement screen, but the need to make a Genius Bar appointment and not being able to be taken care of in a walk-in basis.
Unfortunately for the OP, not everyone in the Genius Bar is trained for screen replacement, and the technicians that are can be waiting on customers that have other issues. The ability to dedicate a single person for screen purposes does not make good business sense, for what would they be doing if there were no screens to repair. If you say to other technical diagnosis/repair, then if they were busy and someone came in, then they would have to wait, and you would be right back in the same place you are now, needing to make an appointment.

  • White out on full screen

When using youtube and the BBC player, which utilisies Flash 10, the picture is fine when viewed in site, however when clicking to full screen mode the screen whites out. Sound is still present. I've updated the Flash version to the latest but the problem persists. This has occured in other applications besides youtube and the BBC site. Any ideas?

To all having this white screen problem:
The answer is as Pat stated in Post #5
Go to any video, like youtube and right click on the video and click on Settings. Display Settings is where you will UN check hardware acceleration.

  • Recently dropped iPhone 5 and now I have white boxes across the top of the screen.

Recently dropped my phone.  Now I have white boxes across the top of the screen...does anyone know if this can be fixed?

Take it to an Apple Retail Store Genius Bar likely will be replaced but user damage voids the warranty
You could try reset and then if required a restore, worth trying but if no change then Out of Warranty exchange in US $229

  • Im going to go to apple to show my phone that my wi-fi wasnt working and now iv droped my phone and the hole screen came out, its not mashed it just came out, but work, so now im worried apple my wont take care of it

im going to go to apple to show my phone that my wi-fi wasnt working and now iv droped my phone and the hole screen came out, its not smashed it just came out, butstill works, so now im worried apple my wont take care of it, what will they do ??  it was a bran new phone

You are correct to worry. There is no way for Apple to know if the wifi problem was before or after the drop. If you have Apple Care +, you can get a replacement device for a deductible. If not, user damage is not covered under the warranty or regular Apple Care. You would need to see if they will repair the screen (at your cost), or if you would have to purchase an out of warranty replacement.
