Dropped phone, now screen black

Dropped iPhone 4, spidered rear of phone, no external damage to front screen but it is black. Still working because it will sound tone when I try and text it from another phone. BTW, how can I tell if the phone is CDMA or GSM?

The way to tell if the iPhone is CDMA or GSM is who is your cellular service provider?
If the back screen is broken, Apple can replace that for $49.  However, if there is other internal damage causing the black screen it will be an out-of-warranty replacement of the entire iPhone...for a 4 that will cost $149.  Take it to an Apple store genius bar and see what they say about it.

  • Dropped phone now screen won't work

Hi, I bought a Blackberry Pearl around 2 weeks ago. Today, for the first time, I dropped it from a height of 3 feet and the screen went white. I removed the battery because I could not turn it off with the button, when I tried to turn it back on, the screen would not respond. I get a black screen now, however, the cellphone still works, I still get calls. What do you recommend I do because where I am from, the people who can actually repair the blackberrys work for private companies and I purchased my phone online. First question, can the blackberry still be saved?  Second question, is the repair process simple?  Would a new screen do the deed?  I hope someone can assist me with this I was deeply shocked when I realized the phone didn't work the fall was nothing out of the ordinary and the phone was brand new, I feel ripped off .

It may have been a simple fall, but depending on how / where the phone "hit" the floor could have caused damage. Remember that electronic devices are fickle and sensitive to minor "shocks", so your phone very well could have fallen on that "magic spot" that made it break.
As for getting it fixed, you don't mention where you are, but you may want to search for an online repair shop that you can send your phone to.

  • Dropped phone now my screen whites out

Help! I dropped my phone :S The screen still works when the phone is turned off and on again but when it goes to standby mode and I try to use my phone the screen is white. Any suggestions?

Even if you don't say you dropped it, don't be surprised or angry if they can tell it has been damaged accidentally and tell you it isn't covered. They are pretty good at detecting phones that have been dropped or gotten wet.

  • Dropped phone - now says 'no service'

    Help!
I dropped my last the other evening and had to dismantle the phone (took boack covers off) to release a jammed on/off button. Now however, I've lost all reception - it's permanently saying 'No service.'
Any idea what it may be? I dropped phone from low-level, can't imagine it's done that much damage?

It's apparently not reading your sim card. Power off the phone, remove and replace the sim card. Turn phone back on and see if you have service.

  • Phone dropped now screen black - is there a fix for that

iPhone 5c dropped screen now black. What can we do ?

You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
If that doesn't work, then you will need to purchase an out of warranty iphone at the Apple store.

  • TS3274 What to do after being dropped?  Now screen is black and gray.

What do I do if I dropped an Ipad and now it has a black/gray screen and won't do anything?

Sorry, but dropping is accidental damage, and it's not covered by your warranty. You can take it to the apple store and see wha they can do or see about an 'out of warranty replacement', read pay a reduced fee to swap out your broken one for a refurbished replacement.

  • Toshiba laptop, dropped...now screen black

We bought identical Toshiba laptops for our 17 year old twins. Yesterday, one was dropped. It fell onto the floor while it was closed, and fell flat on the top. The screen is now black and we cannot get it to display anything at all. Any ideas?

There can be different reasons for this.  It could be that the video card has come loose.  This is especially so if you cant even get it to show on another screen.  If you're comfortable with it, take it apart and reseat the graphics card.  If the screen itself was cracked it would come on and look weird and it wouldn't come unplugged from the PC without a lot more force that would cause a ton more problems then "monitor won't come on" like "it's in 75 pieces".  If it still boots up i'm just guessing video card.
If you take it apart and reseat the video card and nothing it'd be hard to say and would need to be looked at.

  • TS3274 dropped ipad now screen doesn't display

My daughter dropped her ipad and now the screen doesn't display anything.  We can see some light changes but nothing else.  It appears that the screen can still be touched to use apps because we are able to play music.  Any suggestions on what we should do?

Not sure if you've fixed this, but it really works.  After reading similar advice, I banged it on the corner of my couch and the display totally came back clear as day.  Could not read it before.

  • Dropped iPod now screen is blank, restored still not working

I dropped my ipod classic, screen blank, still plays music, tried restoring it, still nothing, any advice?

Have you tried a hard reset yet? To do this, first make sure the hold switch has not been activated, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may take a couple of tries.
Otherwise, wait for the iPod's battery to fully drain. Then connect it to a power source charge up as normal. It might be necessary to restore the Nano via iTunes after that as there may be corrupt files still leftover from improperly ejecting the iPod.

my iphone 5's screen blacks out every now and then. the phone is turned on but the screen is black and i can receive calls. what is wrong with my phone?

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed.  So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?

  • Dropped my phone - screen black

If Apple replaced the battery, contact them to check the phone, the battery replacement is covered by a warranty.

    Hi krishna706,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is working but the screen is dark, try these steps next:
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
Try to restore your phone and set it up as new.
