Dropped Wired Ethernet on Mountain Lion
After upgrade to Mountain Lion
The Ethernet connection will no longer create a network connection to Broadband / Router. Boot into Windows from Boot Camp and all is fine.
Wifi works fine in OSX. In Network Preferences you see Ethernet toggle between RED - No cable connection to Yellow cannot get IP
Again under Window on Bootcamp all is OK
hmmm interesting...
unplug your computer. Turn it on. Let it drain completly down where the computer actually shuts off itself. Then recharge your computer fully and see the difference.

Ios 7 air drop not working with mountain lion air drop
Hi, didn't see an iOS 7 forum, so I'm posting it here since I was testing it out on my iPhone 5.
I tried to use air drop to share photos b/w my iPhone and my MBP running mountain lion, both has air drop enabled, but I couldn't see either on the air drop window.
is iOS 7 air drop not compatible with OSX air drop??
bluetooth and wifi are on for both machines.
thanksI have a Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio i5. Also, even before reading your suggestions, I moved my phone hand set away from the iPad. There aren't any other sources within 10 feet although the phone base is within 30 feet. The WiFi router is about 5 feet away. Haven't had a chance to "troubleshoot" the connection.
Have you any suggestions for Air Drop or Air Print? My Pixma MP 450 which in excellent working order isn't compatable with either OS 10.9.x or iOS 7.
Canon suggested a Pixma MG 3520 which was hellatious to set up, requiring a big download and both a USB cable and Ethernet connection to the router, and isn't working with the iPad.
Clearly, technological "advancements" are for teeny boppers who spend their time taking phone pictures, sending mindless messages and listening to music. Oh, to be 14 again.

No ethernet after Mountain Lion upgrade .........
I'm sorry if this has been addressed before, but I'm a little frustrated. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my ethernet connection on my Mac Mini, comes & gos (wifi is fine). Router is fine, cable is fine, it just connects when it wants and disconnects when it wants. Old PC laptop that I got out of storage holds connection fine! I've read several discussions on this mstter and tried all the possible solutions to no avail. I am running on the latest update (10.8.2). Is this just something that I have to live with .... no more wired connection? Has anyone else been able to come up with a solution. I appreciate any input. THANX!
If you mention what solutions you've tried then folks here can offer new ones and not repeat what you've done.

Battery life dropped after upgrading to Mountain Lion
I have a Macbook Pro 2010. After upgrading to OS X Mountain Lion the battery life get dropped dramatically. Before it was ~4 hours and now has lowered to ~2.5 hours.

Mountain Lion drops WIRED ethernet (mail,ical,steam lose connection)
Since im on 10.8 i cant play one real game on Steam because i get network drops that cut my connection to my fritz.box.
After this i cant connect to things like ical or mail and have to restart my mac, in mail i have to re-generate a new password for gmail.
the steam chat or msn dont shows any sign of connection lost, so this is a bit confusing.
running a static ip network in 10.10.10.1-10.10.10.200, where the mac is 10.10.10.20.

Any ideasUpdate: I think I've pinpointed this problem to the Time Capsule. I've replaced the Time Capsule with my Airport Express, and everything works flawlessly. So:
Cable Modem -> MacBook Air (via ethernet cable) = Works fine
Cable Modem -> Airport Express -> MacBook Air = Works fine
Cable Modem -> Time Capsule -> MacBook Air = Doesn't work
I've reset the Time Capsule to factory defaults (holding down reset button while plugging in power) = no change
When I first plug the Time Capsule into the Cable Modem, I can get internet for few seconds. But eventually the "Internet" status light in Airport Utility goes yellow and I can't access the internet at all.
It would be interesting to try a different cable modem with the Time Capsule but I don't have one.
Time to call Apple again I think. -

There was an issue with wifi in the unpatched ML, but this has long been fixed.
Another suggestion is to apply a fixed ip address to you Macbook.
I presume you have rebooted the router?
If you hold the "Option" key and click on the wifi symbol on the menu bar you get to see more stats about your wifi connection. Check that it is running in 802.11n mode. -
ITunes movie playback, audio and video not in sync after upgrade to Mountain Lion
After upgrading to Mountain Lion I have problems with iTunes movie playback, and the audio/video at times stalls/delays, or skips a few seconds, or even gets out of sync. I have 2011 iMac 27" with 16G RAM and am running the latest iTunes and Mac OS X software, and shutting down extra programs doesn't help. Please let me know of any solution.
I also have this problem, and some videos will no longer play in iTunes.
I get a message that this video is not compatible with this version of iTunes. I have to open the video in Quicktime to watch it.

Mountain Lion Mac Mini Server Ethernet Port Not Working
I have a Mac Mini Server and once I upgraded to Mountain Lion Server the Ethernet port is unresponsive. It worked before upgrading. Is there something with Mountain Lion Server that is causing the Ethernet port not to work properly?

If you bought the MBP new 3 weeks ago, it should have come with Mountain Lion already installed. Did you update your MBP to the newly released 10.8.4 update? If not, what OS were you running before the upgrade, and what version of Mountain Lion do you have now? -
USB ethernet connection via switch no longer works after installing Mountain Lion
Since installing Mountain Lion, I have no longer been able to use my USB ethernet connection via an ethernet switch. I have deleted and re-added the connection in preferences. The connection reads "Connected" but it is not working as connected (unless I bypass the switch and plug directly). I have tried doing this with two different switches to no avail. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.
I Read this sollution elsewhere on these forums and found that this worked for me.
However, the "load" time in Safari is not as fast as it used to be. Might be due to some router setting.
Solution:
For all the Dutch users that have a KPN Experiabox router:
1) go to http://192.168.2.254
2) Username: KPN Password: leave empty (You might have changed this yourself)
3) Go to Network (at the top)
4) Go to WLAN (at the left)
5) Set as follows:
Enable WLAN: Enable
Mode: IEEE 802.11g Only
Channel: 7
Transmitting power: 100%
Enable WMM QoS: Disable
This fixed my wifi problems. Good luck -
Internet sharing from Wifi to Ethernet is not working after Mountain Lion upgrade
First I was having trouble just connecting these two, now I can't get the Internet sharing to work. Here's what I am trying to do: I want to share my Macbook Pro's internet connection from it's Wifi to another laptop I have connected via ethernet cable. They will ping each other now. The problem now is that the laptop won't pick up the Internet connection from the Macbook Pro, even though I have it configured exactly as I had in Snow Leopard. Nothing has changed on the laptop from before when it worked fine with Snow Leopard. But now that I updated to Mountain Lion, Internet sharing no longer works no matter what I try. I've been trying to find a solution by to no avail. Could anyone here offering some advice or a solution that will fix my problem? I've been over the basic steps over and over again, so please don't ask me to do something stupid like reboot or check the Sharing settings. They're exactly how they are meant to be, but the thing just won't work.

Ran a TCPdump on my Macbook Pro. It is recieving the ping requests, but the laptop still isn't getting replies to its pings. So something is wrong in the Macbook's configuration somewhere. I don't know where, though. -
I use MacBook Pro 13", 2011 edition. Since I installed Mountain Lion, my MBP's battery life drop from 7+ hours to roughly 5 hours overnight. Worse still, it freezes about once a day. Does anybody else experience this? Got tips to troubleshoot these issues?
I initially had similar issues with Mountain Lion, however I thought it was isolated to my configuration. I did make some adjustments using the command line power management tool and the difference are night and day. I never thought it amy have been a change in Mountain Lion. In any case, given the prevalence of this, I created a blog listing the changes I made and explaining it for those with increased interest.

How do I get Ethernet to work on my MacBook Pro Late 2011 after upgrading to Mountain Lion?
Since installing Mountain Lion, I am unsuccessful in getting my Ethernet connection to work. My WiFi seems to work intermittently. The only reliable access to the Internet is through my personal hotspot on my iPhone. Any suggestions on steps I can take to correct this problem?

Safari 6 in Mountain Lion lost window drop shadow
After I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I have a weird problem with Safari 6: the window does not have the drop shadow, and when the window is activated only the title of the Web page gets darker color in the top bar of the frame. It's a very annoying problem, since there is no visible frame if the Safari window is overlaid on top of another window with white background. This happens only on one user account and on one computer out of the four that I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion. I tried to figure out which preference setting controls that, but neither removing all preferences for Safari and starting from scratch, nor copying the Safari preferences from the library of another user account that is fine did help.
Perhaps somebody can tell me how is the coloring of Safari windows handled. Windows of all other applications are fine -- it's just the Safari's window that gets the problem.I bit the bullet and created a new account. I wanted to preserve account name, so I deleted the old one, but chose the option to leave the home folder intact (it was renamed to "userid (Deleted)"). Then I moved what I needed to the home folder of the new account. iCloud helped quite a bit, as I did not want to move any of the ~/Library content. VirtualBox VMs moved quite nicely with the use of File->Add. Dropbox took some time to sync, but Google Drive refused to reconnect to the folder; thank goodness I have gigabytes on the former, and just a few files on the latter. Time Machine is busy, of course, but... Mountain Lion looks like Mountain Lion now
It's been much faster than trying to fish around for the solution to the problem. Still, I am actually interested in discovering how exactly the windows are decorated on Mountain Lion. The developers of Mac themes must know, but I do not know any of them
