Dropping a table only if it exists
Does anyone have the sql code to drop a table
only if it exists in dba_tables? We build
temporary tables for the run of a job. Before we start the job we want to make sure that none of those tables were accidentally left around, so we check for their existence, and if they are present, we drop them. If you try to drop a table that does NOT exist, you get an error and are kicked out of the batch job.
Just trap the error at drop time and ignore it.

Select from 1 table only if a value does not exist
Hello all,
I'm having problems devising a single select statement to accomplish a single return value. I have tried variations of DECODE and COALESCE, but it's escaping me.
I have two tables that are as follows:
NAME
ID, FULLNAME
1, Senior
2, Junior
3, Mister
4, Senor
5, Miss
ABBREVIATION
ID, ABBREV
1, Sr
2, Jr
3, Mr
5, Ms
What I would like to do is select from the NAME table only if the value does not exist in the ABBREVIATION table.
Ideally if I were to do something such as:
SELECT * FROM .... WHERE (ID=1 or ID=2 or ID=4) ....
I would receive the following output:
1, Sr
2, Jr
4, Senor
Thanks for reading!You want an outer join.
SELECT decode(a.abbrev, NULL, n.fullname, a.abbrev)
FROM name n,
abbreviation a
WHERE n.ID = a.ID(+)
AND ....Something like that.
Full example:
with n as (
select 1 as ID, 'Senior' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
select 2 as ID, 'Junior' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
select 3 as ID, 'Mister' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
select 4 as ID, 'Senor' as FULLNAME from dual UNION ALL
select 5 as ID, 'Miss' as FULLNAME from dual),
a as (
select 1 as ID, 'Sr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
select 2 as ID, 'Jr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
select 3 as ID, 'Mr' as ABBREV from dual UNION ALL
select 5 as ID, 'Ms' as ABBREV from dual)
select decode(a.abbrev, NULL, n.fullname, a.abbrev)
from a, n
where n.id = a.id(+)
order by n.id;
ID DECODE(A.ABBREV,NULL,N.FULLNAME,A.ABBREV)
1 Sr
2 Jr
3 Mr
4 Senor
5 Ms

Question
I want to sort all my bookmarks alphabetically but can't. You only let me drop a bookmark into an already-existing folder. And if that is the only way, how can I create new folders so that I can try to create meaningful folders?With the iPod connected to the computer go to the Music pane for the iPod in iTunes and check the box that says sync only checked songs. The check the songs you want synced and click on Sync. For more info see:

How to automatically ad/drop a table on an existing replication?
Hi!
I would like to have a replication for my database (in SQL Server 2008 R2), which automatically add/drop tables at the subscriber (without needing me to manually change the publication properties and articles items) as soon as I add/drop at the publisher.
Can anyone help me on that?
Regards
AminChange the immediate_sync property of your publication to be false.
To do this - do this:
sp_changepublication 'MyPublication','allow_anonymous',false
GO
sp_changepublication 'MyPublication','immediate_sync',false
GO
Then add new tables to your publication using this
sp_addarticle 'MyPublication', table3, @Source_object=table3
GO
sp_refreshsubscriptions 'MyPublication'
GO
sp_startpublication_snapshot 'MyPublication'
GO
Now to make this automatic you will need to run a job that will detect the new table added or a table deletion and then have it run the sp_addarticle, sp_refershsubscriptions, and sp_startpublication_snapshot commands.
To drop a table you would issue a sp_dropsubscription and sp_droparticle statements like this:
sp_dropsubscription 'MyPublication','ArticleIWishToDrop', Subscriber, SubsriberDatabase
GO
sp_droparticle 'MyPublication','ArticleIWishToDrop'
You will need to add this to a job as well. This will not drop the table on the subscriber, it will just stop replicating changes to this table to the subscriber.

Table or view not exists error from procedure - occurs randomly
I have a procedure used in a website, it works fine until recently we occationaly getting an error said Table or View not exists, the error will go away if refresh the page which will re-execute the procedure.
This procedure uses an table object as temp table and just a select statement form several tables. The table object is used in other procedures as well. I can't find out what cause this error because it's not always repeatable and the error message didn't give out the exact table that cause the error.
Any idea what might cause this or how to trace the reason that cause the error?
We don't have a good DBA here so really need some help, any advice are welcome.
CheersI don't think it's possible that any previlege changes are made or the tables in used in the procedure are droped because after we run our db scripts to build the db, then we testing the website which can only execute procedures, and no procedures execute DDL script to make such changes.
It's worth to mention that we have a Table Type called EntityIDTable() which is used in many of our other procedures, but I think table type is initialise as local variable in each procedure so shouldn't conflict to each other, am I right? Also, the same script are running several times a day to generate same db but with different schema names so we can test on different site templates. One change script did drop one of the table and recreate it, but it use the &DB_Schema_Name.Tablename to drop a table so shouldn't affect the table in other schema I think. (I enclosed the procedure below)
Also, any event log in Oracle I can enabled and trace the problem to find out what table is not exists at that point that this problem occurs?
Cheers
Below is the sample code of the procedure:

Bug: dropping first table collapses connection tree
Hi,
if you drop the first table in the table list, using the delete key, the entire connection tree is collapsed completely (i.e. reoppening the connection does not remember what was previously expanded in that connection).
It doesn't disconnect the connection though.
(919 on 9.2.0.6.0 db)
BTW the bug where the commit/rollback buttons aren't enabled with you add the first row to a one column table still exists.
regards,
WilliamNot that I am aware of; I just did the following:
create table a (a number);
refreshed the table tree
selected the table "a", and hit the delete key, followed by "yes" and the tree collapses.
Not sure what else I can add to that :)
I've just tried it a few times, and it happens every time on all my connections; it only happens if you drop the table with the delete key.
regards,
William -

Can't Drop a table in DB2 UDB on Windows 2003 server Ent EDT
Previus step:
Database DB2 ibm for a sap BW production got error in log - cause: no space on disk.
system mark database as bad.
system connection with db was restored with sap and ibm support
I'm in disaster recovery situation,
we have rebuilded index and table that got problem in db2dart report.
Now Sap system go up, we have successfully dumped 29 of 30 tables with db2dart /ddel command, now there is only a table that got problem:
sapbw2.rsbatchdata
we can't drop this table.
We try with this step:
1) db2dart bw2 /ddel
(table id)1837 (tablespaceid)10 0 9000000
we obtain a SQL file
2) db2dart bw2 /mt
(table id)1837 (tablespaceid)10 (password that you provide)
3) db2 drop bw2 sapbw2.rsbatchdata after this command we got a crash database.

Licecache table missing Table MATRIXINDE does not exist in the database wit
Hello,
We recently done a system copy of our APO system, everything went well. in case of Livecache there are 2 problem
1) when we do the integration for LCA/LDA/LCA while we mentione the Livecache server it is not taking the host name , it is only picking the IP address of the livecache server. If we tried host name, it times out.
2) once we give the IP address as livecache server we can start the live cache server. Bure there is only two tables in it
when we run
transaction Livecache Check (/SAPAPO/OM03) we get the erro i.e.Table MATRIXINDE does not exist in the database with ID LCA
runtime error DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_UNKNOWN
When we look into the tables there are only 2 tables in it
AAPSYSNAME
LCA_WARNINGS
when I compare with other system...it is missing a lots of other tables..
We did re-initialized the livecache.
Appreciate your help in thisHello Sudhir,
1) Did you create the SAP ticket where this issue is reported?
2) It's good to know more details about the APO version, liveCache/LCA versions on your
source & target systems.
What note or document did you follow to do a system copy of our APO system?
3) Please pay attention to the recommendations in the SAP notes:::

Unable to descripe the table and unable to drop the table
Hi,
I have a temp table that we use like staging table to import the data in to the main table through some scheduled procedures.And that will dropped every day and will be created through the script.
Some how while I am trying to drop the table manually got hanged, There after I could not find that table in dba_objects, dba_tables or any where.
But Now I am unable to create that table manually(Keep on running the create command with out giving any error), Even I am not getting any error (keep on running )if I give drop/desc of table.
Can you please any one help on this ? Is it some where got stored the table in DB or do we any option to repair the table ?
SQL> select OWNER,OBJECT_NAME,OBJECT_TYPE,STATUS from dba_objects where OBJECT_NAME like 'TEMP%';
no rows selected
SQL> desc temp
Thank in advance.Hi,
if this table drops then it moved DBA_RECYCLEBIN table. and also original name of its changed automatically by oracle.
For example :
SQL> create table tst (col varchar2(10), row_chng_dt date);
Table created.
SQL> insert into tst values ('Version1', sysdate);
1 row created.
SQL> select * from tst ;
COL ROW_CHNG
Version1 16:10:03
If the RECYCLEBIN initialization parameter is set to ON (the default in 10g), then dropping this table will place it in the recyclebin:
SQL> drop table tst;
Table dropped.
SQL> select object_name, original_name, type, can_undrop as "UND", can_purge as "PUR", droptime
2 from recyclebin
SQL> /
OBJECT_NAME ORIGINAL_NAME TYPE UND PUR DROPTIME
BIN$HGnc55/7rRPgQPeM/qQoRw==$0 TST TABLE YES YES 2013-10-08:16:10:12
All that happened to the table when we dropped it was that it got renamed. The table data is still there and can be queried just like a normal table:
SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='HH24:MI:SS' ;
Session altered.
SQL> select * from "BIN$HGnc55/7rRPgQPeM/qQoRw==$0" ;
COL ROW_CHNG
Version1 16:10:03
Since the table data is still there, it's very easy to "undrop" the table. This operation is known as a "flashback drop". The command is FLASHBACK TABLE... TO BEFORE DROP, and it simply renames the BIN$... table to its original name:
SQL> flashback table tst to before drop;
Flashback complete.
SQL> select * from tst ;
COL ROW_CHNG
Version1 16:10:03
SQL> select * from recyclebin ;
no rows selected
It's important to know that after you've dropped a table, it has only been renamed; the table segments are still sitting there in your tablespace, unchanged, taking up space. This space still counts against your user tablespace quotas, as well as filling up the tablespace. It will not be reclaimed until you get the table out of the recyclebin. You can remove an object from the recyclebin by restoring it, or by purging it from the recyclebin.
SQL> select object_name, original_name, type, can_undrop as "UND", can_purge as "PUR", droptime
2 from recyclebin
SQL> /
OBJECT_NAME ORIGINAL_NAME TYPE UND PUR DROPTIME
BIN$HGnc55/7rRPgQPeM/qQoRw==$0 TST TABLE YES YES 2006-09-01:16:10:12
SQL> purge table "BIN$HGnc55/7rRPgQPeM/qQoRw==$0" ;
Table purged.
SQL> select * from recyclebin ;
no rows selected
Thank you

Dropping a table in WEBDB2.0

Dropping a table does not remove the entry from USER_OBJECTS
Hi,
While dropping a table with "cascade constraints" option, I find that no. of objects in the user_objects table does not decrease. Only "Object_Name" is updated to a value like "BIN$K+97YWCIcRTgRAASeZWmDQ==$0"..
Can you please help me to find out the reason.
Thanks in advance..
Rgds,
AnjanThanks both of u for ur reply..
sorry for not mentioning the version of db, it is 10.2.0.2.0..
I've applied purge statement and it has removed the table from the recycle bin and user_objects table as well.
Now, is recycle bin got empty after perticular time duration? can we recover table from the recycle bin?
Thanks,
Anjan -
