Dropping database table
Hi there,
I have dropped a database table using:
drop table tablename cascade constraints; However, in plsql developer table window i can still see the table upon refreshing. When i run a select * from statement in the intelli sense of plsql devloper i still the table name in the list but it gives an exception when executing the query "table does not exist". When i try to re-create the table it complains the table with constraint already exists...
I am extremely confused as to what's happened here, it also appears in the owner under all_tables view. Could you someone please assist me in how i could clean this up?
Thanks,
Rohan
Does your table perhaps have some 'weird tablename'? What is the tablename?
And was it created with quoted identifiers? (Tablename between ", the double quoutes)
Does using: drop table "tablename" cascade contraints; make any difference? (Note the quoted identifiers, perhaps you need to play with upper/lowercase)
Or drop table "tablename" cascade contraints purge; ?

Can't drop database table objects on a EJB Diagram.
JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA.
When I drop a database table object on a EJB Diagram the error below occurs. Also dropping components from the Component Palette doesn't work. A wizard opens, but after completing that, nothing is on the EJB Diagram.
However, after dropping a table and a restart of JDeveloper, there is an empty 'tablename EJB' on the EJB Diagram, but a click with the mouse on it generates the same error as the drop did.
Simular errors occur with JDeveloper 10.1.2, so writing this I realize that this might be a database version problem. I'm using 9i! I'll try 10g and see what happens.

________________________________________________________________________________Hi lisa, you've said that the problem does not occur in the 10.1.3 build but I have almost the same problem with the BME-99003 error message.
I used the same workaround "changing the regional settings from BE to US" and the BME-99003 problem disappears :-)
Here is the error message that I receive while I add a table into the EJBDiagram. I'm using

Production database table dropped accidentally.
Hi,
In one of our production db an important table has been dropped. We wanted to know who has dropped this table.
How to know this?
We did not enable any kind of auditing for the db.
We did not create any database level trigger for the drop table event.
Please help me on this.
Thanks in Advance.
Raju,
DBA.
Hi,
Even though database is of 10.2.0.4.0 version flashback database feature is not enabled.
Edited by: user10979257 on Aug 13, 2009 1:25 PMThere is no need to configure LogMiner before the DDL happened. All LogMiner is doing is reading the REDO information in the archived log files. Configuring LogMiner gives you no new information, it just allows you to read information you already have. If you have the archived log files from the time in question, you should be able to determine what Oracle user issued the command and roughly when they did it.
You can run LogMiner on a machine other than the one that generated the archived log files, if that is a concern. That adds a bit of complexity to the setup process, though. Whether running LogMiner will have a noticible affect on performance for other applications will depend on a variety of factors-- how many archived logs you're reading through, how much data you need to read, and how I/O bound your other applications are to begin with.

New JNDI name created for each drag and drop of database table into table
Hi All,
I'm using Netbeans 5.5 with Visual Web Pack with Mysql as backend. Whenever I drag and drop a database table into table component it creates new JNDI (data source) name for each table. I want to use single JNDI name for all tables. If I change the JNDI name to default name then the design disappears and shows error . Is there any option to set the JNDI name unique for all tables?
Thanks in advance.Hi again,
Well I've tried using the MouseListener / MouseMotionListener approach but it doesn't quite seem to work, although it does get the events correctly. I think the reason is that it doesn't interact correctly with the Java DnD machinery which is something that V.V hinted at. It's something that I may need to look into if / when I have more time available.
I have to say though that I haven't had any problems with scrollbars - we're making fairly heavy use of large tables and if you drag over a table with a scroll bar and move to the top or bottom then it scrolls as you would expect and allows you to drop the data where you like. For this situation I've used pretty much the same approach as for the toy example above except that I've implemented separate source and destination TransferHandlers (the source table is read-only, and it really doesn't make sense to allow people to drag from the destination table so I've essentially split the functionality of the example handler down the middle).
I'm not actually particularly in favour of messing too much with the mechanics of DnD, more because of lack of time than anything else. Guess I'll just have to put up with this for the moment. Doesn't help that DnD is so poorly documented by Sun.
Thanks for all your help.

How to drop the tables (articles) in subscription database MERGE replication.
We have configured the merge replication from publication server to subscription server,
Here I mistakenly selecting few tables (articles) in publication,
Now I need to remove those mistakenly selected tables in subscription server database .
Note: I am trying to below way but unable to remove those tables in subscription server.
1st I unselected those tables (articles) in publication, but not working.
Could please tell me the how to remove those tables in subscription database.Ok that is normal, dont worry, if you mistakenly chosen few tables, just add the new tables
that you forgot it, just make click on the publication, you only have to Re-run the snapshot agent, i mean you must generate another snapshot and then synchronice with your suscriber, and then you will not need DROP the tables on the suscriber, if you have
troubles yet, please post imagens to help you more !
Thanks and regards. -
Ora-00604,ora-01422 error while dropping the table
Hi gurus,
I am using Oracle 10g R2 on windows 2000 platform, while dropping the table the following error occured.
ORA-00604 : error occurred at recursive sql level 1.
ORA-01422: exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows.
Need urgent help.
Thanks in advanceIs there an AFTER EVENT trigger defined on this database? Can you check that?
Secondly, was this database migrated from earlier version? I remember having seen this problem on 9i (it was 9.2.0.1 or 9.2.0.2; I can't recall exactly). -
Ora-00600 error when dropping a table
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
When I tried to drop a table, I got 600 error:
SQL> desc DEV.ATTR_IDX$EX

SQL> show user;
USER is "DEV"
SQL> select count(*) from DEV.ATTR_IDX$EX;

SQL> drop table DEV.ATTR_IDX$EX purge;
drop table DEV.ATTR_IDX$EX purge
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [15265], [], [], [], [], [], [], [],
I guess this is because it had a parent table, which I dropped (I used "drop table <parent_table>", and it did not give me error, very strange).
SQL> select dbms_metadata.get_ddl('TABLE','ATTR_IDX$EX') from dual;
DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL('TABLE','ATTR_IDX$EX')

MONITORING
Try to drop FK constraints yields the same error.
So now how can I drop this table table, any work around?
Thanks. This is a bug. There is no Patch avaialble for this yet. This error is seen where recyclebin is enabled. Possible workaround is to disable the recyclebin.
This happens with the dictionary corruption due to inconsistency between obj$ and seg$.
This is a correct answer but still i would suggest to contact Oracle support. -

Can't Drop a table in DB2 UDB on Windows 2003 server Ent EDT
Previus step:
Database DB2 ibm for a sap BW production got error in log - cause: no space on disk.
system mark database as bad.
system connection with db was restored with sap and ibm support
I'm in disaster recovery situation,
we have rebuilded index and table that got problem in db2dart report.
Now Sap system go up, we have successfully dumped 29 of 30 tables with db2dart /ddel command, now there is only a table that got problem:
sapbw2.rsbatchdata
we can't drop this table.
We try with this step:
1) db2dart bw2 /ddel
(table id)1837 (tablespaceid)10 0 9000000
we obtain a SQL file
2) db2dart bw2 /mt
(table id)1837 (tablespaceid)10 (password that you provide)
3) db2 drop bw2 sapbw2.rsbatchdata after this command we got a crash database.

How to bind a database table to a JSF table ?
Hi
thank you for reading my post
I tried to use derby with Jdev 10gR3 , but it does not works with derby when i drag and drop the table into a jsf page
it shows a error message :
Entity creation failed for following database object
no primary key attribute and does not support ROWID.use Entity wizard to crete an entity.
now my question is :
1-what is that entity ? is that a EJB stuff ?
2-my table has a primary key of type , bigInt and it is Identity (auto increment)
3-how i can resolve this problem.
Thank youCan you be a little bit more specific about how you created the access to the database?
You can't drag a table directly onto a JSF page you first need to create either a Toplink object, an EJB or an ADF Business Component.
If you are going to use Derby as your database you should probably use Toplink and not ADF Business Components, since ADF BC wasn't certified with Derby. -
Hi All,

" must use DBMS_AQADM.DROP_QUEUE_TABLE to drop queue tables "
I find 3 table with AQ prefix in the schema but unable to drop these table even by using "sys" user.
Any idea how can I do that ?
Regards,Hi,
select object_name,object_type from dba_objects where owner='USERNAME' and object_name like '%AQ%';TO drop the queue table, login as the owner and
exec DBMS_AQADM.DROP_QUEUE_TABLE(queue_table=>'PASTE_THE_OBJECT_NAME_FROM_ABOVE',force =>TRUE);Anand -
Hi, I have to do an impact analysis before dropping a table from production database, which Is the best/economic way to do an impact analysis in application developers view if the table is not using in the application itself ?
Thanks
BcjOur DBAs wanted to drop a table without impacting the application. This application is not directly using the table for any DML operations, but indirectly can be by triggers, procedures so, i wanted to make sure that this is not happening indirectly . There lots of database triggers and procedures. Thanks.

Hi All,
Some one has dropped 5 tables in the production database that has caused a SEV1 but thankfully we are having those tables in recyclebin and we are restored those with out data loss.
But I want to know who has dropped those tables and want to know who has connected to database at that time. Can you please guide me in this how to find out....
Database version: 11.2.0.2 version
Thanks

Optimize delete in a very big database table
Hi,
For delete entries in database table i use instruction:
Delete from <table> where <zone> = 'X'.
The delete take seven hours (the table is very big and <zone> isn't an index)
How can i optimize for reduce the delete time.
Thanks in advance for your response.
Regards.what is the size of the table and how many lines are you going to delete?
I would recommend you to delete only up to 5000 or 10000 records in one step.
do 100 times.
select *
from
into table itab.
where
up to 10.000 records.
if ( itab is initial )
exit.
endif.
delete ... from table itab.
commit work.
If this is still too slow, than you should create a secondary index with zone.
You can drop the index after the deletion is finished.

Combining data from 2 database tables to convert numberID to text? ASP/VB
Hi.
I have the following two database tables:
Orders Table
orderID
customerID
collectionregion (numerical)
deliveryregion (numerical)
Regions Table
regionID
regionname
On my ASP page I have a recordset (rsOrders) which displays
the order
details.
When this is displayed, the collectionregion and
deliveryregion fields
display as a numerical value, as they should.
This numerical value ties in with the regionID field from the
regions table,
to indicate what region the collection/delivery is in.
I would like to be able to display the region name as opposed
to the number.
I created a third recordset on the page, which goes like
this:
SELECT * from tblRegions WHERE regionID = regionvar
regionvar 1 rsOrders.Fields.Item("deliveryregion")
Now, this works great when I DON'T have the rsOrders
information in a Repeat
Region, but when I add the repeat region, it simply displays
the region name
for the first record for every record. Why would it not work
in the repeat
region?
What can I do to resolve this?
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Regards
Nath.Hi,
Ok, thinking out loud has helped a little! My Repeat Region
is for the
rsOrders recordset so simply dropping a value from a second
recordset into
this existing repeat region won't cause the second recordset
to repeat which
is why I'm seeing the first records values in every record!
Still leaves me with the problem though.
The thing that's confusing me is that both the
collectionregion and
deliveryregion fields in the Orders table hold an ID value
that ties in with
the Regions table primary key field (regionID) however
because they are not,
themselves, called regionID I can't seem to do an Inner Join
in a database
query like I normally would if there was just one field that
tied in with
the regionID.
Would appreciate some guidance. Much appreciated. Thanks.
Regards
Nath.
