Dropping iphone in water, dropping iphone in water

I dropped my phone in my tea for literally 2 seconds..the part that went in was where the headphone jack can go into? I can make calls and people can call me, but I can only hear them on speaker phone?

I got liquid into my iPhone, a  small amount of liquid that went into the earpiece opening on the front the iPhone.  I had the same problem as you for about a week and then all of a sudden the earpiece started working again.  I guess it did when it finally completely dried out.  I suggest you turn your iPhone off for about a week to see if drying it completely will get it to work normally again.  Apparently putting it in a bag or bowl with rice can get it to dry quicker as rice will abosrb humidity.
This was my first iPhone a 3G in 2008.  My niece now has this iPhone and is using it as an iPod touch, but I recently tested it by putting my Sim card on it with an adapter for size and it still works perfectly as a phone as well.

My iPhone randomly makes a sound like a drop of water into a puddle.  I've turned off all notifications and it till does it.  Any suggestions?

  • I dropped my iphone 5 in the water, its dead and when I try to charge it the apple logo comes and goes, thats my only sign of life, I've done many after market repairs but what I want to know is if I should replace the ligntning port or the battery

I dropped my iphone 5 in the water, its dead and when I try to charge it the apple logo comes and goes, thats my only sign of life, I've done many after market repairs but what I want to know is if I should replace the ligntning port or the battery... or just buy a galaxy s5?

If you dropped it in water, and then plugged it in, you may very well have destroyed the battery and/or the logic board.  Charging/plugging in to a power source is very damaging to wet electronic devices.  There is not much you can do but replace the entire iPhone...and since you did repairs yourself Apple will not do an out-of-warranty replacement.
You can try replacing the battery, the lightning port is another issue, but I would not expect that iPhone to work again.

I suggested contacting Compub in Nassau St as the info is priceless and worth the trouble of trying to regain?
Any thoughts? The poor lady is very distress

If she has backed up her iPhone she can replace that iPhone and set up the new iPhone from her backup.
You can put the iPhone that went into water into a plastic baggie with either new silica gel packets (preferred) or raw rice and let it sit for  4 - 5 days. After that time remove the phone and connect it to power for at least a half hour. While it is still connected to power reset it by holding down the power and hold button, wait for the Apple logo then let go of the buttons. Might take several tries. If it revives immediately back it up.

If you had previously been backing up to iCloud (or a computer with iTunes), you would possibly have a backup.  That said, if you can't turn the phone on, you cannot create a backup of the device now.  Sorry.

I dropped my iPhone 4 in water and cannot get it to dry out enough to turn back on.  I may have fried the battery.  I am using an old iPhone 3 temporarily but cannot get all of my current info to sync.  My calendar is up to date but none of my notes have transferred over and the contact list is from when I originally used the iPhone 3 last year.  How do I get my iPhone 4 info synced onto the iPhone 3?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't restore an iPhone 3G from an iPhone 4 backup. Until you get a replacement you can access your iCloud data at iCloud.com on a computer.

  • I dropped my Iphone in water and the on/off button stopped working, how do I fix it?

I dropped my phone in some water and it was only in there for about two or three seconds. I grabbed it and dried it straight away and made sure to get in all of it, and it was fine, everything worked. But about an hour after the on/off button stopped working, so i have to use the home button to unlock it and have to wait for the screen to turn off after 1 minute of leaving it. I cant turn it off and dont know how to fix it. Will it go away on its own, do I have to send it off to get fixed? This literally happened like two hours ago, and my phone is a bit more than a year old. Can anyone help me?

Make an app;ointment at the genius bar and take your credit card. You can get an out of warrnty replacement for an iPhone 4 for $149.
If you had just done it, the advice would have been to shut it off and put it in a bowl or bag of uncooked rice or silica gel for a week.  Unfortunately, since it's been powered on for several hours, since then, it may have been permanently damaged. You can try the rice trick, but be prepared to pay for a replacement at some point down the road.

  • I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger is not supported with device screen every minute or two. I powered it off for the night. I havent experienced problems since. Why does it still work?

I dropped my iphone 3gs in water and grabbed it immediately out. It gave me a charger not supported sign every minute or two. I decided to turn it off for the night and the next morning it worked fine and only the bottom sensor was triggered. Why does it still work and how long will it last?

Water in itself will not kill electronic components if you let it dry out.  Your first reaction to turn it off was a good one but you could have waited even longer.
It also depends what's on your water that will stay after the water itself had dried; like salt. Anything that iseither acid or conductor left on the circuit board will reduce the life of the board.  Given said this, no one could state how long your iPhone will work since no one will know for sure where the water had time to infiltrate before you removed your device and no one what's may left there.
Consider yourself lucky.  I don't understand however what you mean by a sensor triggered.

ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • Dropped my iphone in bleach water

Hi guys, few days ago i accidentally dropped my iphone into a pail of bleach water and i pick it up within a sec, I left it to dry for 2 days, after that i went to a iphone repair shop to take look at it, only 2 of the water damage sensors turns pink, the other 4 sensors inside the phone were still white then he said it will be fine because the damage is not bad and the water did not reach the "motherboard". Apparently Its working perfectly fine now but I'm not sure if bleach water might cause corrosion/rust in the future. Please advice

    Hi Timothy Ng,
In my case it was not an iPhone with water, but my Apple Keyboard with some coffee
No one can judge from the outside whether a unit belongs in the trash or not, if it came in contact with water.
If the iPhone works, I would keep it. Water will dry over time and I've big doubts that this little bit of water causes considerable damage.

Hi I dropped my iphone 5 in water last night, it is working but has shadow over the screen how can I get this fixed?

Probably too late to do anything but replace the device at this point.
Once electronics get wet, the best thing to do is turn it off and put it in silica gels packs or uncooked rice for a minimum of 72hrs.  Only then should the user attempt to power the device on.

At the present time, audiobooks are a one-time download and cannot be redownloaded again for free.  You can try contacting the iTunes store to see if they would grant you an exception: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.
