Drops Wifi when standby and loses network key

Just got a Touch 4th gen for daughter. When on standby the Touch loses connection with ASUS WAP and also does not remember WPA pass Key.
We have 2 Ipads and 5 Iphones in the house and they do not have this problem????
Any suggestions. This is the second touch, the first had defective volume buttons and was replaced with a new model. Both Touches did the same thing.
Thanks

Try resetting network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Rest Network Settings.

I think I found the answer to my own question (no thanks to Verizon)!
I found this article online which was written recently (2012) and explains the WIFI - Bluetooth interference pretty well. Here is the link:
    http://www.ecnmag.com/articles/2012/03/wi-fi-and-bluetooth-coexistence
The way it has been explained is that if the WIFI & BT radios are on the same chip and using the same antena to send and receive, they WILL interfere no matter what. Having them on two different chips is the best way. But Frequency Isolation (Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH)) is a way to reduce interference when they are both on the same chip (as it is in Galaxy Note 2 & S3 - they have Broadcom BCM4330 for wifi/bluethooth/FM) which I guess needs to be addressed in a software update (or may be it already has and is not working well). The last solution is to use 5GHz band for WIFI.
There you have it. But please let me know what you think and if you have found out anything else.
    Thanks

  • Time Capsule drops wifi/internet connection and flashes amber

Time Capsule drops wifi/internet connection and flashes amber.  I've tried unplugging it and my modem but it continues to do this every so often.  The time capsule is out in the open, so I don't think it's a heat issue.  It's running firmware 7.7.3.  Anyone else having this issue?  Any suggestions on how to fix it?  It's driving me crazy!

Bought the time capsule in Oct 2013.  I have a Sagemcom 2864 modem from Bell but used through Teksavvy.  The 5 ghz has been flaky until I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 I think.  I had a closer look at it and it appears that the wifi is ok.  I was thrown off by the wifi symbol being all animated in the menu bar.  I was able to ping the time capsule via wifi.  All the status lights on the modem looked ok.  Next time it happens, I'll see if I can get some more details.  Do you know if there's anyway to get some logs from the airport utility?

  • My new ifone has detected my internet router but when I enter the network key info it cannot allow me to join the wifi

My new ifone 4s has detected my internet router but will not recognise the network key and therefore will not allow me to join the internet. Can anybody help?

Reboot the router by unplugging it for at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in and try it again.

  • IPhone 4S with iOs 8 dropping wifi when unlocking the device

    Hi,
my iPhone 4S with iOs 8 (8.1.3) is often dropping the wifi connection when unlocking the device. This started to happen only with iOs 8, iOs 7 was just fine.
When unlocking the device after at least 2 minutes of inactivity, it seems to be weekly connected on the wireless network but then it drops the connection and reconnects back again at full power. This happens:
    - really, really often, but not always;
    - with any access point I tried (different wireless chipsets), both on DHCP and static addressing
    - with any wireless channel
    - both on 802.11g and 802.11n
    - rebooting the devices sometimes temporary fixes the problem (for 12-24 hours), sometimes it doesn't
    - restoring the firmware in DFU mode didn't help, neither did resetting all settings and restoring as new device.
I really don't know how to fix this, I can't find anyone else having this problem on the Internet.
Here's a video showing the problem:
    http://youtu.be/4ua9CPzKBfQ
    Thank you.

Started happening to me on my IP5 with ios 8, on public & private wifi, completely random and was really frustrating, I forked out for a IP6 128gb and was ok but its started to happen again so it must be an IOS8 issue. The unit keeps dropping wifi and asking for passwords it knows, ignores your input then comes back by itsself after a few minutes
To be honest Apple should be disgusted with themselves. The phone is pointless without wifi and if this is the solution it will not work as you cannot go to every router everywhere you go. $700 is a lot of cash for a useless bit of kit.

  • MBP 13in drops wifi when computer goes to sleep, I have to restart the computer to reconnect. Help?

I recently did the Lion update on my MBP.  Since then my computer will drop wifi connection everytime the computer goes to sleep.  It will not let me log on network saying invailed password.  I have to restart the computer and then it connects automatically.  This is NOT a router problem. Skip any and all advice about routers.  I have 4 other Apple products all connected to wifi perfectly.  This is a MBP issue.  Please help.

On the MBP, go to /Library/Preferences/System Configuration
Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash.
    Restart the Mac.
It will not let me log on network saying invailed password
Just in case, open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Use the search field top right corner of the window to locate your network keychain.
Now right or control click the keychain then click Get Info then select the Attributes tab.
    Click: Show password
    Make sure it's correct.
    And launch AirPort Utility  /Applications/Utilities
Select the connection on the left the click Manual Setup.
Select AirPort from the menu then select the Wireless tab.
Make sure the password is available there then click Update.

I have the same problem. I had the issue with mac osx 10.8.2 and after updating to 10.8.3 it still drops the wifi connection constantly. It is so annoying and other devices (e.g. my iPhone 5 works fine). I have a 2012 MacBook Pro retina. Hope anybody has a solution

  • IPad 2 continually using wifi when sleeping and on.

How can I find the program using the wifi when the iPad 2 is sleeping or on? I have closed all apps and restarted the ipad. iCloud is off. Soon as you turn it on it will connect to wifi and start using the internet connection. (uploading or download)

    Artplumb wrote:

It's supposed to do that. You can turn off WiFi if you don't want it to do that.

  • Yosemite drops WiFi when I AirPlay to Apple TV

When I AirPlay from my Mac to my Apple TV I lose my WiFi connection. I understand this is because Yosemite now directly connects to Apple TV through WiFi, but is there a way to disable direct connect and just connect to Apple TV through my router like I used to? I like to watch streaming videos online and send them to my TV, but when my internet connection drops because my Mac decided to connect to Apple TV it becomes a tad difficult to stream videos.

I tried everything and this worked for me!
Thanks to whoever found this fix.
Copy and paste these instructions, because you'll be disconnected from the Internet and you'll need to reboot.
Go into your Network Preferences > Select Wi-Fi Service (in the list in the left column) > Click on the options (cog icon) > Select "Make Service Inactive" > Select Apply.
    Select the same Wi-Fi Service > Delete It ( – ). Reboot.
    Return to Network Preferences > Create a New Service ( + ).
Inside the prompt select Wi-Fi under Interface, name the Service Name something other than Wi-Fi. (I named mine Wi-Fi2. Apparently if you retain the previous Wi-Fi name the WiFi dropping will return on reboot.) > Click Create.
    Click Apply.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Ipad Air drops wifi when streaming videos, browsing. iPhone 4S fine

I recently bought an ipad air.
I have been experiencing numerous problems regarding the wifi connection and I have contacted apple support twice about it but I thought I'd ask here before returning my device for a refund.
Basically, ipad air is behaving inferior to all my other apple devices.
    Problems:
Wifi drops randomly and sometimes it comes back by relaunching the application (e.g. Safari) or sometimes I have to turn of wifi off and on again to restore connection. This especially happens when I watch streaming videos either on YouTube app or safari.
At the same time when I perform speedtests ipad air gives always mixed results most of the time being slower than my other devices (iPhone 4S , iPhone 3GS, MacBook Pro 2011).
    What I have tried Already:
    Resetting the network settings
Restarting the ipad and the router (bt hub5)
Switching between 2.4 and 5 ghz networks
The most important thing is that all my other devices , my iPhone 4S , my iPhone 3GS and my MacBook Pro work great in every network where the ipad air seems to either give poor performance or drop the connection randomly.
I would be happy to know if there is an issue with ipad airs that is going to be resolved with an upcoming OS update, I am patient. It would save me the hassle of returning the ipad for a refund.
Thank you so much in advance for any help.

    Hi Finalizer,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have not yet done so, I recommend backing up your iPad Air and restoring the device as new:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
After the device is restored and updated to the latest version of iOS 7, test the Wi-Fi connection with Safari or another app before restoring a backup of your data.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • MBA drops wifi when using an external monitor

My MBA 1.6 GHz has an issue when using only an external monitor. That is when re-awoken after a sleep, with the portable's monitor closed and using both an Apple external keyboard and mouse, my wifi connection to my time capsule drops. It does this consistently and I suspect a hardware issue as the same thing happened under leopard.
Is anyone experiencing this issue? Does anyone know of a test I could preform to establish what is failing? Does this require a hardware repair? Any help with this would be appreciated!

I am having an identical problem with my Mac Air.
It seems we aren't alone either: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1401466&tstart=60. Seems to be some sort of interference issue.

  • Keep dropping wifi when waking from sleep

    Please can anyone help
I have a sky wifi box and when I wake up computer it does not seem to want to connect, it searches for a while and sometimes it finds the connection, but at other times I have to restart iMac
    Graham

Your issue could be with your modem, router, channel settings of the router or even the DNS settings.
Where I'd start is resetting your DNS settings. If you are not familiar with what the DNS is and how can have the symptoms you're descibing please read CNET's DNS Article and Macworld's DNS Troubleshooting article. Then reset your settings by following:
    1. System preferences
    2. Network
    3. Click Advanced
    4. Click DNS tab
    5. Click + sign
    6. Add 208.67.222.222
    7. Click + sign
    8. Add 208.67.220.220
    9. Click OK.
    10. Exit System Preferences

  • Connecting to WiFi when out and about

    Hello,
I have had my iPod touch for about 2 weeks and I really like it. At home, I have absolutely no problems connecting to WiFi and all of the applications function.
The problem arises when I am out and about. I live in New York City, so there are tons of open connections available nearly everywhere. However, I have only rarely been able to connect to them. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance for your help.
    Leanne

Yes it is sorta a hit and miss even when the connection seems to be open and public it still may be set to Mac Addressing which would mean if your Mac Address isn't listed in that Wireless Router it isn't going to let you join the network.
The best luck I have is to find homes that don't have any security at all as most business's and Cafe hotspots are locked and still require a password.
