Dry loop availability

I have been told both on the phone and using the online availbility checker that DLS is not available.  Even though I am in a densly populated area, I am not close enough to a "switching station" apparently.  But what about Dry Loop?  Since it's carrying only data and no voice, would that distance limit be extended?
I already have a Verizon voice line, and an extra line running to the house, now disconected, that I used to use for dial up Intenet years ago.  Was thinking that  extra line could be converted to dry loop DSL with very little fuss.

I assume that's "wired" feet, rather than as the crow fliles.  Correct?  So there is no difference in feet for Data alone and Data and Voice together?

I was wondering if fry loop DSL is available without 1 yr contract. I checked dry loop is available in my area. The weird thing is when I called customer service this lady called Bela from retention department said it is avilable only with 2 yr contract while the website doesnt mention anything about 2 yr contract.

    Hi Yetendra,
Yes you can have a plan called as month to month[MTM] which doesnt have a annual contract.
If you are exiting customer with Verizon you can call 1-8005676789 to change it to MTM
However if you are new customer you can call 1-8004834000 to sign up

  • Dry loop dsl availablity in autumn creek, friendswood, tx

    Hi,
I have verizon land line and dsl, would like to know if "dry loop dsl" is available in the autumn creek subdivision, friendswood, tx?
    Thank you,

Verizon themselves doesn't sell Dry Loop DSL anymore, however you can likely get it from a 3rd party / reseller over Verizon's lines still. Companies such as DSLExtreme tend to be good choices. Services will differ going with a third party in many cases, but the actual Internet connection will usually stay the same.

  • What does Verizon charge for dry loop in NYC?

Right now I have dsl with a land line. I want to drop the land line and go with dry loop. What does Verizon charge for dry loop in NYC?

  • Verizon Disconnected My Dry Loop DSL

I have had the Dry Loop DSL for two years after dropping my landline.  I got the letter from them in May saying they were no longer offering the Dry Loop but for those that have it, nothing changes as long as you don't make a change to your account.  Figured I was fine.  I was away on business last week and came home to no internet.  Spent an hour on the phone between Repair, Billing, back to Repair and then to Sales but all I could find out was there was a Pending Disconnect on my account but they couldn't tell me who did it or why.  Funnily enough on the same day the Disconnect order went through, my Discover Card was billed the $41.99 for June.  The last person I spoke with put an Investigation Order though to find out why this is happening and I was supposed to hear from someone Saturday or Monday.  Nothing.
Has this happened to anyone else with the Dry Loop?  They are telling me now to get reconnected, I'll have to bundle with a landline, which I don't want.
I plan on disputing the June charge with my credit card company and then go to Comcast.  I can get way more speed for less money for the first year and then it will cost me more but at least I'll have more speed.
UPDATE:  I got an email from Customer Service after submitting an issue yesterday telling me that once the diconnect order was placed, it can't be reversed or reconnected.  NO ONE has told me yet WHO order it disconnected and WHY.  They said they will refund me from the 6/22 diconnect date through July 9.  I just placed an order with Comcast for Internet Only AND filled a complaint with the FCC.  I did nothing to initiate this disconnect and if they can just randomly diconnect you and then try to force you into a bundled landline to get reconnected, then no dry loop customer is safe.

  • Move to Dry Loop DSL

Currently I have a contract with Verizon Double Play until the end of March 2011.  Does Verizon offer Dry Loop DSL?  What do I need to do to move from "landline homephone+internet" to "internet" only.
    Thanks,

Verizon offers Dry Loop DSL in most areas. Some areas might not offer it. As to why, I couldn't tell you. Just let Verizon know that you want to shut off the telephone service but keep the DSL on. They should be able to put in the request and adjust your bill accordingly. The DSL will go up a few dollars a month when switching to Dry Loop, keep in mind.
Just be aware that in some cases, Verizon may wind up disconnecting the actual copper loop itself. There should be no need to do this as it is controlled by software for the most part. On a dry-loop DSL line, you will receive a fast busy signal if you attempted to use a phone on it in most areas. Figured I'd give you the heads up on this as it's happened to a buddy of mine and he was by no means prepared for his DSL going dead a day after his phone service was turned off.

  • Slow Dry Loop DSL question

    Hi,
I've had this dry loop dsl for a couple of months after getting rid of my home phone dial tone and using my VZW smartphone as my only source of voice comm. In the last month (March) speeds have been below dial-up speeds. Before going to dry loop I would typically get on the 1 MB plan 0.75mb down and .35mb up which worked great for me as I don't watch video, play online games or use a lot of bandwidth heavy sites on the net.
Now beginning in March it has dropped and sometimes just disconnects then returnes to:

Upload Speed: 124 kbps (15.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Wondering  what happened? I've done the turn on-turn-off Westell 6100 moded, reboot the computer, unplug the dsl line then plug it back into the modem...still can't get consistency like I had  months before going to dry loop dsl. Here's my Westell modem transceiver stats as of this morning: (does look a little better down stream but upstream is ...  well blah for email; especially a 2mb photo attachement!)

You think a suggestion to Verizon on having the CO in my rural town move me off of a busy router/DSLAM to see if that would bring up my down stream and up stream numbers with consistency? Or maybe the line noise is bad. Or my TIB outside of the house that has been worked on a couple of years ago isn't compatible with dry loop dsl now?
Thanks for anyone taking the time to help out on this. First time poster here.
    Nixie

Are you only seeing speed drops during the evening hours or is this a case that occurs 24/7? The line statistics look fine now, but there's a difference between congestion, an incorrectly built PVC and physical line trouble.

  • DSL dry loop

How can I get DSL dry loop?  I want to drop my phone service.

Verizon doesn't offer Dry Loop DSL anymore, even though there isn't a technical reason as to why they can't. You might want to look around for a DSL Reseller, since you're likely going to be able to get dry loop through them. DSL Extreme tends to be a common choice amongst others for Verizon.

  • Library buttons greyed out. No loops available.

    Hi,
Thought I finally should start learning Garageband. A couple of years ago, I bought a couple of jam packs. As I recall, I had them included in GB then. But in this version, the library buttons are greyed out and there's no loops included.
    How do I import them?
I have GB '08 (version 4.1.2) and Mac OS 10.5.7

the library buttons are greyed out and there's no loops included.

  • Loop in bpm

    Hi,
In bpm which loop is used? ( for , while do etc) ?
    Thanks ,
    Somenath

    Hi somenath,
in my documentation there is only one loop available, which is called "while loop".
So I think it works like its called
"The loop continues to run while the end condition returns true. To specify the end condition, use the condition editor"

No they haven't dissappeared. Maybe you should set the Loop Browser view to "All" to see all the Loops available-if the green loops still don't show up something went wrong during Installation.

  • Disappearing loops

    Hi everyone.
I just bought a 15inch Macbook Pro and I've been having issues with the loops in Garageband.
Let me take you through everything I have done.
I got my Macbook home and I my old Mac mini to transfer its data onto my new Macbook Pro. My Mac mini was running iLife 06 very well.
After the transfer had finished, and I started running Mac OS X for the first time on the laptop, I firstly updated the software, using "Software Updater". This included an update for Garageband.
I open Garageband for the first time, and find that half of the loops are shaded grey, and won't playback. These are loops that I know exist because I used them on the previous version.
I did some investigating and found the "Audio Loops" folder, "Library" -> "Audio". I discovered that there were two types of file in the folder; .aif and .caf.
Half of the loops are just the .aif files. These are the loops that are coming up grey in Garageband.
The other half of the loops have two copies of themselves, one .aif, the other .caf.
I've tried to find a way to reinstall Garageband, but the Install Disc won't let me reinstall Garageband for some reason.
How can I sort it out so that I can get these loops working in Garageband again.

First of all: you shouldn't switch to a new computer by copying the files over by hand - you'll miss essential stuff that is in the Library folders. That's what the Migration Assistant is for.
You can copy the Loops folder(s) over to your new system. If you have duplicate loops, keep the .caf version. After cleaning up, drag the folder(s) onto GB's Loop Browser, that should make those loops available in GB.

  • PID loop rate with counters

I'm trying to use a PXI-8106 RT and LabviewRT 8.5 as a PID controller to control 3 motors.  I'm measuring the speed of the motors by measuring the frequency of the encoder with a 6608.
This article http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5423 claims a speed up to 107.5 khz.  I've set ethernet to polling and usb off, I didn't turn off  the CPU display, but I'll try that as soon as I can. However, I'm not anywhere close to 107khz, best I can get is about 10khz with one channel and about 2 khz with 3 channels.  I realize the tests were done with analog inputs, but I was hoping that  I'd get at least somewhere close using counters. With the 2Khz rate I really can't do what I need to do.
Does anyone know what a realistic rate would be with this setup?
I'm new at Labview so I may be doing something wrong, although I can't see what it could be. I've done quite a bit of research on the forums before I started to learn from other's examples.
Here's a couple of things I've learned  trying to optimize my loops.
Seems like Daqmx has some issues with applying a scale.  I have 2 scales, one is just a scale factor, 0.166, the other is .0002.  When applying the .0002 factor in Daqmx my performance takes  a huge hit, something like 10%!  If I just leave it at hz, and do the scaling myself I see no performance penalty.
There is something strange about the timed loop % display in RT8.5, I wrote my own routine using expected end, actual end time, and the period to give me a % loop useage and it matches very well to the RT8.5 display for most of the time, however, when the loop starts missing iterations because I've gone over 100% the RT display drops down to about 50% which pretty much makes it useless.
I've attached a couple of shots of my test loop. I can get this one to almost hit 10 khz. the other screen shots are of how I set up the counter, and how I read the counter. the read counter has the error trap to restart itself.  Also I set it to use DMA explicitly somewhere else in the program.
    Thanks for any help.

    Devin,
    Thanks for the suggestions.
A couple of related questions for you.
The 200 uSec is leftover from my attempts at getting the 3 PID loops to work within the loop availability.  I can run  about 70 uSec i.e about 14khz  with only  a single counter.
I've tried changing the buffers value and it has barely any effect on the speed of the loop. Right now I have 3 counters running with 200uSec timing and I get about 69% loop utilization. With a few missed iterations every once in a while. This is using 10000 samples, if I drop down to 100 samples utilization actually goes up to 70%!?  Doesn't make sense to me either, but this is using both my VI and the on screen Timed Structures % of LV8.5RT so I'm trusting it as real,
In theory if I can get my loop rate up to 10 khz I'll only need 10 for the buffers since my top frequency to be measured is 100 kHz.
Funny thing on the RT fifo variable... I turned on FIFO and it actually decreased performance by about 1%, both Total load and Time structures went up... so I turned it off for stop-RT, and got a 3% improvement! Down to 66% time structures.
You mentioned the hardware timing to get a hardware timed single point. Unless I misunderstood the counters, this isn't possible since the sample rate is implicit in the frequency measured? i.e. it latches the count every rising edge.. so I'm my case I'd get a 100 khz sample rate (although obviouslyl that would be the max) Can you let me know if I've missed something there.
I bought this system explicitly based on its dual core and its high speed so I could close my PID loops quickly enough with one CPU and still have processing time left over to log data, etc.  And the 6608 card is there so I can get high accuracy for my frequency measurements.   However, I'm really struggling to get this thing going.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Henri

  • Have Soundtrack Pro, how do I "install" loops to FCPx?

As advised by Apple in 2011 I have FCP7/Studio installed on another startup disk.  I found the Soundtrack Pro audio loops and put them in /Lbrary/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple in the startup disk with FCPx.  When I open up FCPx in the Music & Sound window there are 2 Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro folders!!  Is this a bug?  Or did I do something wrong?  Should I delete the files in the Apple Loops Index, would that fix things?  I like how finally the Apple for Soundtrack Pro folder is no longer greyed out, but I don't like the extra folder there.
Also, why is there 2 Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folders, one of them is greyed out.

I need to get "Soundtrack Pro" inorder to populate the "greyed-out" folders?
Possibly yes. I bought FCP Studio back in 09. STP was one of the suite applications that came with it (it also came with Logic Pro Studio -- as well as ALL the Jam Packs -- so I effectively bought it twice.)  Since Apple put these apps on the App Store (FCPX/Logic), all the extras you *used to get* aren't there anymore. [You can still purchase Logic Studio from Apple's website store.]
I've also dragged in 3rd party loops (from siliconbeats.com [they have quite a few free loops available], etc.)
Also, I really don't know if you even CAN buy STP or the Jam Packs anymore. You can buy Logic Studio and you'll still get STP and all the Jam Pack loops that way... but that's rather expensive for just the loops.
(*Aria*) -- I don't think the empty STP loops folder is a bug. I think it's there for all of the people who owned previous versions of FCP and had STP installed as part of the suite.
PS - sorry it took this long - I got cut off due to maintenance last night...
