Drying out an iPhone 5 (Verizon)

OK ... it happened. iPhone 5 (VZW) wound up taking a dunk ... retrieved in 2 sec. Hand dried it, pushed Reset and Home (naughty!). No response. Black screen Buried it in dry rice overnight. Looked at LCI in AM, and saw very light pink. Held down Reset ... battery icon appears briefly with thin red line and lightning bolt. Plugged it into MacBookPro via USB. After a short while, pushing Reset more quickly brings back same battery icon (thin red line, etc). Few minutes later, the white Apple logo appeared and has remained. Also think the back is beginning to feel slightly warm. That's the current state. Have not pushed any more buttons.
No access to Apple Store for a few days. Do have AppleCare, which I believe will cover it with $50 deductible.
Now more curious than anything.
Any thoughts/suggestions??

AppleCare+ will get you a replacement for $50. Take advantage of it... Get it replaced. If you really want to try and dry it out, it's just as well you don't have access to an Apple store for a few days. Over night is no where near long enough to dry it in rice. More like 3-4 days, even a week...
Personally, there's no way I'd use it now. It's a fire hazard.

Mine took a swim in a pool. Did the rice thing as described by Wjosten above. Got the phone back up and running but lost some pixels on the screen.
Just know, there is a moisture sensor inside the phone. If you go to the Apple store and they run a diagnostic, the phone will report back that it's gotten wet, thus nullifying your warranty. Doesn't take much for that Sensor to be activated. A good, sweaty workout at the gym gets it's going... Oh, that's if you workout with your phone in your bra, but that's a story for another time. TMI?

Dried out iPhone 4S.... Still not working

My iPhone 4S has dried out (after 3 days in rice in a box in the airing cupboard) but would only display the Apple logo while on charge. Now I have some very small text which has just progressed to two vertical lines in the centre of the screen.
Is it dead? What else should I do?

by juggling the phone whilst washing up, I accidently dropped it in the sink, I had just became unemployed so no more insurance by a day..
I have follwed advice dried out phone in rice and in airing cupboard for nearly two weeks
Screen looks OK minor discolour on top of screen but no IOS
Tried connecting to Itunes it starts to restores then stops.

It's time for a new (replacement) iPhone. Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider. You may well receive some credit for your old one.

Turn the device OFF
Remove any cases, screen protectors, ear buds, etc
Remove SIM card (if the phone has one)
Place phone in airtight ziploc bag FILLED with dry rice (kitty litter, oil dry or silica packets work too)
Leave unit for 24 - 48 hours before attempting to turn it back on
The biggest concern is whether or not the battery was damaged. If so, it may swell. If it does, you may notice a "bulge" in the phone casing. It may be a good idea to have the phone checked by an authorized repair center to ensure there's no damage to the battery, as higher temperatures could possibly cause a moist battery to swell to the point of bursting, which would most likely destroy the phone. Of course, if you have the Verizon (enhanced) insurance coverage, I believe water damage is included - after you pay the co-pay.

Number one - that person has given you false information...the Apple store genius bar supports all Apple products whether in or out of warranty. Checking is free, service on an out of warranty item is not free.
Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
Since you show that you have iOS 7.0.3 you might want to update that iOS to 7.0.4...plug the iPhone in so you are on a solid power source, then while on a WiFi go to Settings > General > Software Update and update to 7.0.4.

Well, you managed to find this support forum didn't you and you have an internet connection don't you? Then if you have all these things, go and find the number by going to the Verizon website and it should not be hard to find the number.
As for speaking English, this is not really our problem and it is surely something that you should have thought about before buying the phone in the first place.
You also need to know that Verizon in the US is a cdma operator and if you purchased an iPhone 4s, then it should not be locked. The Verizon 4s comes with a sim card tray that should be unlocked out of the box for use internatinoally on gsm networks, so all you should need to do is open the sim card tray and insert a sim card and you should pick up the local gsm network.
A cdma phone does not actually use a sim card, so there would be no original sim card with the phone because when it is used in the US it will pick up the Verizon cdma network without a sim card. The sim card is only for use on a gsm network which will not work in the US, but is designed to work outside the US. Open the sim card tray and insert your own local sim card and the phone should work and should not be locked.
Other than this, if you purchased the phone in the first place, it is the responsibility of the previous owner to cancel the Verizon contract. This is nothing to do with you, so contact the seller and ask them.
Other wise, go to the Verizon website and look up the number and call them. As they are the phone company, ultimately, they are the only ones who can help you.

Well no, of course there won't be because that is not how unlocking works with the phone - you don't get any kind of unlock code.
How have you tried to unlock the phone? A Verizon iPhone 4s should have a sim card tray that is already unlocked for international use, so you don't actually need to unlock the phone - should be unlocked out of the box, but if you have approached anyone else other than Verizon themselves, then you have hacked the phone, so the chances are that it will not work.
If you want to use the phone legitimately, then contact Verizon - there are no unlock codes and these codes will come from hackers who claim to be able to unlock your phone and will charge you through the nose, but will not, so if you ever update your phone, then it will lock.

Can't Text or Call Out on iPhone 4S

Beginning five days ago, I started having issues with being unable to send text or call out. I have checked that iMessage is on, I have reset the phone several times, reset the network settings, turned cellular service off and back on, airplane mode on and off, bluetooth is off, wifi is off and do not disturb is off. I have roughly three bars for service. The phone periodically snaps out of it and allows texts to come through, allowing me to text and make calls, and suddenly it will not allow again. Is this a SIM card issue? Software/Firmware issue? I currently updated to 6.1 (10B142), but this issue was taking place two days before that and upgrading didn't solve the issue. How do I fix this issue? Is it a problem with the iPhone or a problem that Verizon can fix? Help!!

Still same issues I have tried all of these tips and it seems like I am getting worst results now my phone doesn't ring nor register any calls at all. As well as ,my text messages are not going through. I only been a customer for not even two months it seems like I may have made a mistake switching. Also when I am lucky enough to be able to send a call through the receipent says my phone is breaking up and they cannot hear me. So what is the resolution now...

what do you mean exactly by small and large. because iphone won't let you email videos with large sizes, it lets you to email just a sample of the video. if that is the case.
on the other hand while sending pictures it will ask you if you want to use small, medium, large or the actual size for email purpose

Iphone 4 Verizon enabled IMessage but still getting charged as texts

I'm an Iphone 4 Verizon user; I have IMessage "ON"; send as SMS "OFF". I message with another user who has IMESSAGE "ON". The message screen is blue, not green. Yet I'm still getting charged towards texts by Verizon. Does this have anything to do with being signed into apple at all times? Can anyone figure this out? Please help me, thank you.

Has nothing to do with signing on with Apple. If this is happening, I suggest as razmee209 did and contact Verizon. Have you tried turning off cellular or going to Airplane mode and turning wifi back on and sending. Do you find a charge then? The charging of SMS/MMS is a carrier function, so I would believe they would need to investigate/correct.
I do remember reading sometime in the past of Verizon having a issue with a charge such as this. Try searching the forum and see if you can find a similar post.

Swapping an iPhone 4S (ATT) for iPhone 4S Verizon

I purchased an iPhone 4S ala AT&T from the online Apple store but was considering swapping it for an iPhone 4 Verizon. There is an Apple store in my area. Can they swap it out for me? Do I have to go through the online store? How much would such a swap cost me? Is there a backlog for 4S Verizon iPhones? Any and all help will be deeply appreciated.

You have 30 days to return it. In the past, doing so at your local Apple Store has not been a problem, but recently, there have been reports of Apple telling customers they must return it through the online store if it was purchased online. I can't vouch for the universality of this policy (if it is a policy). It certainly can't hurt to go to your local Apple store and ask. As for backlog, there may be a wait, since it's still early in the launch process. Again, you'll have to ask.
Just curious... Why are you considering switching? Coverage is the only real reason to do so IMO. You will lose the ability to talk and use 3G data at the same time and your 3G data speeds will be (theoretically) lower on Verizon than AT&T since AT&T has pretty much rolled out HSPA+ everywhere now.
