DS 5.0 ReadOnly Replica Dies unexpectly

Hi there:
I am testing replication between a master and consumer using iplanet
DS5.0. However the consumer always die unexpected after a while.
The error message from the error log of the consumer server is:
[10/Oct/2001:11:38:51 -0400] NSMMReplicationPlugin -
multimaster_be_state_change: replica o=innovance.com is coming online;

[10/Oct/2001:11:39:45 -0400] NSMMReplicationPlugin - csnplCommit: can't find
csn 3bc46bc1000000050000
What went wrong?
Thanks for your help?

What went wrong?I don't know what went wrong, but I had the same error.
When I read the release notes for iDS 5.0 SP1 I found a note in the
corrected bug list:
"Valid values for replica ID for a master are 1 through 254. The replica
ID for read-only replicas (hubs, consumers) is set to 255 regardless of
prior setting."
So I changed the replica ID on the consumer server to 255 (with replica
ID on the master still '1'). Since then the consumer server is running
without problems.
Hope it helps.

  • My iphone 3gs dies unexpectedly

my Iphone 3gs dies unexpectedly. It will say that it has 39% or so and just goes black and is off, sometimes it will start later, sometimes I have to plug it in and then it will start after a while. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Sounds like a hardware problem - possibly with the battery or something else.
If you live near an Apple store,  make an appointment to have this checked where a hardware dignostic can be run on your iphone to determine where the problem lies.

  • My computer dies unexpectedly

I am on my 2nd harddrive in less than 2 years. The last time I did some minor video editing (a 2 minute video with lots of editing and effects), my harddrive went haywire, wasn't recognized as existing by external HD's, and I had to erase and install. Thought the HD was another goner but the erase and install seemed to work. Well, now I have again done even more minor video editing (a 6 minute video with very little editing and effects). Now my computer shuts off unexpectedly after it falls to sleep. So far it has not shut off while it was active. Today when it shut off, it wouldn't start up until a couple hours had passed. I have reset the PRAM.
After my video editing I repaired permissions (strongly recommended by apple guy during last problem) and verified my internal drive and one external drive with tiger installed. All video is stored on a different external HD without tiger installed.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Yes, my mac is in the range. It was one of the first ones made, pre-ordered before they were released to retail stores. I had seen this program in a couple of posts, but mistakenly thought it was just apple care. Thanks for alerting me to the extension. We have apple care, anyway, so it's covered, but it's nice to know that my problems aren't the result of a crazy computer. This is my first apple, and it might have been my last but for the very helpful, knowledgable, and patient apple care staff.
Any news that movie editing triggers power problems? My 1st problem with this new harddrive also occurred immediately after finishing some video editing and involved power issues. Resetting the PMU did not help.

  • PowerBook G4 battery dies unexpectedly

Hello got a PowerBook G4 and it runs great. The battery charges great, but when I'm using it, and its charged over 70% as soon as it hits 70% it dies. When I plug it back in it says 0% and this has been happening repeatedly. But, when I charge it after it dies to below 70% and then unplug it, it will last to 0%, I'm running it right now at 12%. It frustrates me as I can have it last for 30 minutes if i charge it full, or have it last for a hour and a half to 2 hours if i charge it to 70%. I already did a battery calibration, and that has made the battery percentage more accurate but still dies at 70%. Thanks so much for all your help.

Hello again. I see you on these posts alot. Hobby?
Retired with time on my hands.
I beleive it is from 2000 but considering the details on how Li-Ion bats run it should just last for not long, not die at a certain 70% and live for long if used before it hits 70%. Battery reset in open firmware or something? Just doesnt make much sense to me.
They don't make a lot of sense, insofar as a consistent life cycle is concerned. I don't think there is anything in NVRAM that would help, as I just dumped it on my book and didn't see anything that would indicate anything to do with the battery or power management. Ditto on preference or cache files.
I am not sure that there is anything that can be done, unless continued use allows the battery to get its own act together.
When you charge it full, then it quits at about 70 percent, do you then have a flashing green LED on the battery immediately afterwards? That seemed to be the one thing I remember from the "original" that went south on me a few years ago.
The good news is that aftermarket batteries seem to be about half the price they were when I got mine three or four years ago.

  • SQL Server 2012 - Wat Is The Best Solution For Creating a Read Only Replicated/AlwaysOn Database

Hi there I was wondering if someone may have a best recommendation for the following requirement I have with regards setting up a third database server for reporting?
    Current Setup
SQL Server 2012 Enterprise setup at two sites (Site A & Site B).
Configured to use AlwaysOn Availability groups for HA and DR.
    Installed on Windows 2012 Servers.
This is all working and failover works fine and no issues. So…
    Requirement
A third server needs to be added for the purpose of reporting, to be located on another site (Site C) possibly in another domain. This server needs to have a replicated read only copy of the live database from site A or Site B, whichever is in use. The Site
C reporting database should be as up-to-date to the Site A or Site B database as possible – preferably within a few seconds anyway….
Solution - What I believe are available to me
I believe I can use AlwaysOn and create a ReadOnly replica for the Site C. If so do I assume Site C needs to have the Enterprise version of SQL server i.e. to match Site A & Site B?
Using log shipping which if I am correct means the Site C does not need to be an Enterprise version.
Any help on the best solution for this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Steve

for always on - all nodes should be part of one windows cluster..if there site C is on different domain - I do not think it works.
Logshipping works --as long as the sql on site C is is same or higher version(sql 2012 or above).  you can only do read only.
IMHo, if you can make site C in the same domain then, Always is better solution else log shipping
also, if your database has enterprise level features such as - partitonin, data compression -- you cannot restore the database on lower editions- so you need to have enterprise edition.
    Hope it Helps!!

  • DSplugin psw on read-only replica

I am running a Directory Server 6.3 which is a master to 2 read-only consumers (one is DS 6.3, one is DS 5.2). Replication is working to both consumers.
On the master server, I have ISW for Windows 6.0.
I am able to sync passwords from AD to the master DS. That is working fine. When a user changes their password in AD; then authenticates against the master DS server, the new password is pulled from AD.
I am having trouble when a password is changed on AD and the user tries to authenticate to the read-only replia. They get an Authentication error. I think I have the DS plugin installed on both of my read-only servers. I can not figure out why they won't send the request to the master server to get the password from AD. pswvalidate does get set to True.
My master server has 2 interfaces (master-if1 and master-if2) and the 6.3 readonly replica can only reach master-if2.

Is there any experience in an environment with a master DS (6.3) server, read-only consumer servers and Identity Synchronization for Windows?
I am not able to get authentication queries to my ro consumers to poll the master DS which in turns pulls the new password from AD.

Application team is receiving the following error message when applications try to connect through the Availablity Group Listener using readonly
    parameter:
"An exception has been raised that is likely
due to a transient failure. If you are connecting to a SQL Azure database consider using SqlAzureExecutionStrategy."
Already using latest .net framework. Using the

If I try to simulate the connection to ReadOnly replica from management studio, it is working successfully. But not from the application:

    Hi IbrahimMehdi,
    I suggest you read this
blog to check the SNAC provider and connection string in client application.
    1. Make sure that SNAC provider is installed properly where your client application runs.
    2. Please note that when using SQL Native Access Client SQL OLE DB, the application intent connection string should be specified with a space: 'Application Intent'. However, when connecting using SQLClient or ODBC specify 'ApplicationIntent' with
    no space.
There is also a blog about configuring AlwaysOn read-only routing for your reference.

  • Will a thread that dies cause the whole application to die?

For a critical business application, is there away of preventing the whole application from crashing when a thread dies unexpectedly (when performing a critical task for example)?
We can not afford that the whole application hangs due to an individual thread problem.
Our alternative is to go for multi-process design, but we still prefer multi-threading.
We would appreciate if someone could share their thoughts and experiences on this.

    Thanks for your replies!!
It must not be possible that the
application dies when a trader is performing a
critical task.Of course, one can never guarantee the integrity of an application. Like the doctors always say, ".. there's always risk involved even in the most routine procederes." So bet on it being possible.
A few questions to your replies:
    - What is exactly a self contained thread?I don't know exactly what the poster means by self contained. But he may be referring to threads that are independent of one another i.e., threads that don't block and the work produced by each thread has little or no consequence on any other thread. I'm not sure I can think of many practical applications for such a model given the context you provide.
    - What makes the application "uncrashable" when using
self contained threads?Well, again, only mythical applications are "uncrashable". Even an independent thread can crash its containing process. Independent threads are relatively safe from one another only in that they cannot cause dead lock in your app.
    - Can Fail Over Design be used also for client
    applications?
Not really. Fail over usually involves cooperating processes on different machines. But with proper deadlock detection you can approximate some aspects of fail over in a single process multithreaded application.

  • 1st Generation iPod Touch Problems: First freezes, then no music

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else have had this problem.
My first generation iPod touch's screen stops working, but is responsive and the button and works, but since I need to slide it, I wasn't able to use it. When I plugged in my headphones, it fritzes. So I restored it to factory settings and everything is fine until I try to play music. I would click on any song, even the shuffle button, it would show that it would play, but suddenly stops and goes back to the song menu. I tried restoring a few times, but it still won't work. On top of that, when I leave it alone for a minute, it dies unexpectedly. It's been 2 and a half years since I got it. Anyone?

I have the exact same situation! My friend and I both have first generation iPod touches. My friends is 3 years old, however my iPod touch is only 1 year old because I got a new one because my last broke, still 1g. My friend was caught in the rain and got very wet once, and since then his iPod touch wifi hasn't worked. My iPod touch on the other hand has been very well looked after in a switch easy case.
My wifi used to work perfectly, until around september of last year my wifi stopped working. It searches for half a second, like it usually does when it knows there aren't anywhere networks near, and if I am really close to a router it will have 1 bar, but say unable to connect and always ask for password.
However today I had a breakthrough, even tho I haven't used my iPod in a while, I tried searching for wifi today and it worked perfectly, like brand new, I was really excited, I could even get full signal at the bus stop outside my house. 4 hours later, and it was back to square one, exactly the same symptoms as before. iPad and laptop are perfect as usual, my iPod has never been wet and I take great care of it. I don't think iOS has a big difference, as my friend is running like 1.? And I'm running 3.1.? The latest software. I've resetted many times, but no success. I'm going to call apple but please help incase they don't know.

  • SQL Developer 1.1 not working

I used SQL Developer 1.0 on my machine without any problems. Now I wanted to switch to 1.1. Installation and configuration works without errors even the "test connection" button works fine. But if I try to connect to the database clicking on th plus sign of the database in the "connections" windows (and this is true for every database I tested) the SQL Developer 1.1 dies unexpectedly and without any error message. Its just gone. I found a trace file saying there is a problem with OraClient10.dll. Any ideas?

That means that if you right-click and disconnect and then either expand the node or right-click, we will reopen for you. Once you record your connection information, we do not prompt you again. We are working on adding the capability to not store your password so you will be prompted if you disconnect but in the current version, we save all your connection information so we never prompt you again. -- Sharon"

I am trying to Install SAP Netweaver 7.0 Preview software on to my system I have successfully done that . But when i am trying to start J2E ( i.e J2EE Server Name ) - the J2ee Server present is getting stopped saying Java VM has crashed .
Can you please suggest what needs to be done . My system confguration is 2GB Ram , 120 GB hard drive .

    Hi
    Note 723909
Anytime the j2ee engine dies unexpectedly you must check the following log files in the work directory, std_server0.out and dev_server0. The dev_server0 will usually provide the exit code with a small description and the std_server0.out will provide the runtime details. In the std_server0.out search for "OutOfMemory" as this is one of the most common issues. Try to find the section of the std_server0.out that appears just before you see the restart occurring (before managers are restarting). Please provide any exception information you find there and the details just before the exception such as garbage collection data

  • Command Line configuration of Replication

I've recently installed iDS 5.0, on Solaris 8.
I've discovered the reponse files have been scaled down from iDS 4.12.
We had utilized the SIR entries in iDS4.12 response files to automate
Supplier/Consumer installation. This feature appears to have been
removed in iDS5.0. I have identified various entries that are stored in
the dse.ldif file, when using the console to configure for multi-master
replication, but for some of the entries, such as nsDS5ReplicaName,
nsState, I don't have a clue what to assign.

I can "guess" that ldapmodify is essentially what would be used.

    Tom,
Please find below 2 examples of ldapmodify commands to create replica and

    SUPREPLICAID=2
    CONS1REPLICAID=1
    ldapmodify -c -b -h ${SUPHOST} -p ${SUPPORT} -D "${MGRDN}" \

    nsds5replicatype: 3
    nsds5flags: 1
    nsds5replicabinddn: cn=Replication Manager, cn=config
    EOM
    Use nsds5ReplicaType: 2 for a readonly replica.
    Use nsds5ReplicaType: 3 for a master replica.
The nsds5flags: 1 means to log the changes (must be set on master or hub
    replica).
You don't need to set state and name since they are generated by the
    replication code.
Make sure nsds5replicaId are different for master replicas. You can use the
same replica id for all read-only consumers (but a different one from the
    masters).
    ldapmodify -c -b -h ${SUPHOST} -p ${SUPPORT} -D "${MGRDN}" \
    -w ${MGRPW} << EOM
    dn: cn=agmt${AgmtNum}, cn=replica, cn="${BASE}", cn=mapping tree, cn=config

  • Can't Re-Install quicktime X

I have macbook pro with snow leopard and I accidentally deleted quicktime x. I have searched around and found that some others are having some of the same difficulties that I am experiencing so I tried the-
    1) Dowload and install Pacifist
    (2) Insert your Snow Leopard install DVD
    (3) Run Pacifist and choose "Open Apple Install Disks" (takes a bit)
    (4) Search for "Quicktime Player.app"
    (5) Select "Quicktime Player.app" (in Essentials.pkg/Applications) and choose "Install to Default Location"
But when I do step 4 Its only the players of different languages are there and there aren't any for english.
So I just picked a random language and did the rest of the steps. When I try and open quicktime player it says "You can't open the application Quick Time player because it may be damaged or incomplete."
Am I doing something wrong in step 4? Or is it something that is really messed up with quicktime.
I really want quicktime 7. When I try and install QT 7 it says that I already have QT X. So any help would really be appreciated. I normally can figure it out by other peoples questions but this is the rare case where I can't find an answer.
I'm thinking that I have to have QT X in order to get QT 7, so if you think if I buy QT 7 and install that would that fix all the issues?
    Thanks

I just downloaded QT 7.6.6. and it still won't open.
Can you be more specific? Doesn't open QT 7 when you press the app icon in the doc, when you double-click the Finder icon, when you drop a movie file on the dock icon, opens QT X Player when you double-click a movie icon, etc.
But I just tried to open an .avi file with the normal QT X to see if that was working. But it just says "loading movie" and I have waited like 20 mins and still nothing. I used to open this .avi all the time so I know it works.
I would normally recommend you make initial tests with content compatible with the built-in system components before throwing unspecified compression formats in containers requiring third-party component support. Installation/reinstallation of the system OS/QT Player apps sometimes orphans user installed components like Flip4Mac, Perian, and the QT MPEG-2 Playback component which may or may not have to be re-installed in order to work. In other cases, installation/re-installation of QT 7 (which no longer has access to legacy preference switch) may turn off legacy codec access some of which may only work in QT 7 anyway. So when making refences to AVI content, please include a reference to the actual compression formats contained in the file in order to get a better idea as to what actions the player has to go through to load and/or preconvert the file data. Can you post a sample file of similar content for testing on systems which currently appear to be operating normally? Also, do you have similar loading problems using the MPEG Streamclip app which also accesses the QT component configuration. I am also assuming here, tht you have never attemted to run a QT installer package that would modify the QT structure that is embedded in your OS.
So I'm thinking QT X is now installed but not working correctly. because I can't open any of the files I used to be able to open.
As previously indicated, QT X, QT 7, and even MPEG Stremclip are all independent applications that can not only be simultaneously installed on your system, but can also simultaneously display different movies assuming this does not overtax your system with each operating in 64-bit mode or switching between 32- and 64-bit modes as required for playback when QT and components are properly installed and working correctly. That is why it is important to determine if your problem is tied to application installation, the embedded QT structure (i.e., OS problem), or malfunctioning/orphaned components.
As a last resort, if you have a free external drive, I personally would create a pristine external boot drive with basic system software software for test purposes. (I personally keep at least two drives available—one with my current Lion OS and a second with Snow Leopard v10.6.8 for both software testing and in case my main internal drive dies unexpectedly. As to document files, I keep all of my important project files on RAID 5 and RAID 6 protected multi-TB drives.

  • Enabling "view source" on a debug (non-release) build

    Hi All,
Is there a way I can enable the "view source" context menu option for my Flex app when it is built in debug mode?  I know I can export a release build and enable it from there, but I want that option to be on for my debug modes as well.  That allows other any developer in our organization to simply right click on an app running in our development environment and see the source that the app was built with.

    Thanks for your replies, Sandra.
So if I understand things correctly, it's always safe to perform catastrophic recovery, but it could take longer than non-catastrophic? Will _FATAL ever cause the application to lose data?
I'm not sure I understand the notion of checking whether recovery is required -- I have been thinking of recovery as the process of getting data back from the .db and log files. If you don't do recovery, you don't get your data back, so it's always required, right?
Assuming we can get data back without performing recovery in some cases, is it reasonable to do this:
    1) Try open() with DB_REGISTER | DB_FAILCHECK
    2) If 1) fails, try DB_REGISTER | DB_RECOVER
    3) If 2) fails, try DB_RECOVER_FATAL
Regarding the cause of failure: the release / debug build was one issue that intersected with our recovery processes, but in general, release / debug build experiments aside, recovery has proven inconsistent for us. When our servers (i.e. the hosts) undergo routine restarts, recovery is generally solid. When the process dies unexpectedly during the day, it fails to recover (apparently without a specific cause) around one in five times (my guess).
We can't reliably reproduce the failure to recover, but in one instance we observed that recovery failed; after removing all files aside from the *.db files and the transaction logs, recovery succeeded. Is it prudent to remove these files (e.g. __db.00*, __db.register) as a matter of routine on/before startup?
    Thanks again!

  • HT1933 battery issues and customer services from apple store

I have been a iphone user since january 2013. i have found some issues with the battery of my iphone 5 and booked appointment several times to report to it. the problem was battery dies unexpectedly, for example it dies when it shows even arround 20% remaining sometimes. every times i have made checked it with genius bar the found no problem using there diagnostic system. On 22 december 2013 again i have done some diagnostic test with apple genius bar and they reformat everything and said problem will be solved. however again on 24 december i had to take my phone to genius bar as they problem was still there and it was died suddenly even there were more than 20% charge remaining. Then i got to the stratford apple store and showed my phone to one of the manager named Harnson. i have showed the dead phone and describe him the situation. he tried to switch it on and found that it shows no battery is low as 2% and need to charge. then he take me to genius bar to diagnostic the phone again. in the genius  bar when his colleague has switched it on then it showed 24% charge remaining. then i explain that this device has no reliability. it doesn't show the actual percentage. it was 2% few minutes ago and died and now it is showing 24% without any charging. then he diagnostic it again and found no problem....
he replied to me your phone is perfectly find according to the diagnostic report. so they can not do anything about it. i was so much frustrated about the whole service. the staff at the bar was so muuuuuuchhhhh unfriendly and unhelpful. later he talked to one of his colleague and suggested me to pay 100 pound or something to replace with a new phone..
i felt so bad and i was not expect this sort of service from the world famous apple company.. staffs attitude are genuinely very bad and arrogant.
    1. how can i prove that there are some problem with the battery. even they have seen that it turns from 2% to 24% without charging. the device is a fault since i bought it. but as it is not showing in the diagnostic test the refused to take any action about it.
    2. bad attitude and arrogant staff made me feel even worst.
please note that this staff are nice with white people and im an asian. is that can be a reason of having bad services from apple?????????????

no they gave me a new 3g 16 gig, i did ask for a 3gs....it is like for like when it comes to replacing....but i think i was pushing my, luck, but im very happy not to have paid the 139 quid, so a happy customer I am, my problem was that i was out of warranty, i did not take out the extra protection warranty ( silly yes, leason learnt... i hope so )
It was the guy who served me who was fantastic, i cannot fault him, he did not have to wave the extra monies, but he said that i seemed genuine, and the fact i did not jail brake my phone or want to, even know he prompted me to as a suggestion , maybe just maybe this all worked in my favour and the result is i have an iphone that works..... Now my issue is with O2 my telco carrier in the UK, as of Nov this year, O2 pay and go customers are in-titled to have there phones unlocked if they have had there phones for more than 12 months. My phone is 15 months old(all with O2) , so an unlock i can get, but because i have a "replacement phone", the imei number is different to what my initial phone was, they are saying i have to wait another 12 months.... I got a SMS message from O2 today that my unlock application was unsuccessful ..... because i have a different IMEI number to which i started with..... just when u think it is easy...WHAM .... so i have to take on O2 now, more phone calls etc...... Any suggestions anyone, has this happened to anyone you know ?
    Cheers
