DS integration with MDM

Hi All,
We just installed BO Data services 3.0 in our environment.
I just want to know how to connect MDM with BO Data service, I was gone through some material but it is not clear for me.
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b097f3ba-5565-2b10-74af-b51838bb0515
Could some one help me out of this like step by step procedure?
Thanks.

Currently, you can think of two SAP NetWeaver MDM-SAP Business Objects Data Services connectivity scenarios: one is the integration of the ETL capabilities of SAP Business Objects Data Services as specified in the guide you mentioned, and the other is the integration of DQ services (i.e. for address enrichment) using the MDM Enrichment Architecture, see e.g. [SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 Documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmdm71/helpdata/en/44/aa411ce9d57454e10000000a11466f/frameset.htm].
Which connectivity use case do you have in mind?
Regards, Markus

    Hi,
Can sharepoint integrate with a MDM solution on the mobile based on device certificates?
    Thanks
    Naresh

    Hi Naresh,
i would like to suggest you to open a thread also at MDM forum, perhaps there is a clue regarding the device certificate: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winphonemgmt&announcementId=048fe18a-0606-4079-a1ec-0fc5bd9a1f1d
for more info regarding the certificates you may check at this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633120.aspx
please correct me if i am wrong, as i know sharepoint may not have the integration to MDM using OOB feature.
if should the certificate able to set at mobile and system center perhaps sharepoint also able to accept it since it may also use SSL.

  • Multi Language Display in EP when integrated with MDM

    Hi,
    Here is the situation:
I log into MDM Import manager in English Language and load the data.
I can see the data in MDM data manager "Language Detail" tab in all other languages(DE, ES, CN etc...) also irrespective of what langauge I log into MDM Data Manager.
But, when log into EP in German Langauge, I can't see the data.
Is there any way that we can display the data in EP even when we log in with different language other than English.
ANy help on this is appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance!!
    RK.

    Hi Eduardo,
I tried the options you suggested, but the result is the same.
And I tried the following options also:
    Scenario 1
Backend language was set to Arabic,
    JCOs were set in Arabic
User Lang was set to English
Result: ESS Iviews are still displaying in Arabic.
    Scenario 2
Backend language was set to English,
    JCOs were set in Arabic
User Lang was set to English.
Result: ESS Iviews are still displaying in Arabic.
    Scenario 3
Backend language was set to English,
    JCOs were set in English
User Lang was set to Arabic
Result: ESS Iviews are still displaying in English.

  • Portal Integration with MDM

    Hi ,
1)I have installed the business package for MDM in the Portal and also registered in SLD.
2)I have created the system in Portal .
When I am performing user mapping ,i am not able to find my created MDM system alias(alias has been defined). Please help me on this issue.
    Regards
    Nidhideep Bhandari

Try creating a new SYSTEM from Template .. give the all details like Server host id and password and see whether you are able to get the list of the repositories loaded on the server or not.
If you are not getting the list of Repositories loaded on the server that means your portal is not talking with the MDM Server.
In this case you can check the MDM files tht you deployed for Business packages and JAVA API  Version and the SAP MDM Server Version. If it is different then this is your issue.

  • ISE integration with Mobile Device Management ( MDM ) help required

    Dear Techies,
Am here bring to your notice an different issue and no much resources to support even in PEC or Cisco Document.
We are conduction a Proof Of Concept (PoC) on  Secure Bring Your Own Device ( BYOD ) using Cisco ISE and gonna test all the scenarios like Wired, Wireless and VPN user access.
    Setup Brief :
    =========
Our Setup has  ISE VM acting as Admin, Monitor and Profiling Device, we have NAC 3315 physical Appliance as Inline posture Device, Wireless LAN controller, Access point and the Identity source as Microsof Active Directory
Having Plans to Integrate Mobile Device Management ( MDM ) and Citrix VDI setup also.
    Activity Brief:
    =========
As of now we have tested the Wired Scenario Authentication and authorization for guest users and gonna carry out the profiling and posture.
    Clarifications Required
    ================
Wired Scenario - Require some configuration / steps on how to carryout posture for the guest wired users i.e. LAPTOP.
    Wireless Scenario
MDM can be integrated to ISE ?
How the MDM can be integrated to Cisco ISE configuration or Guide to show the same?
What is the demarcation between MDM and ISE ( i.e. What is the role of ISE and MDM on Mobile Devices ) ?
If MDM is available so then when the control of ISE ends, does MDM do management or ISE will do management of the devices ?
Is MDM will do client provisioning or ISE should do ?
Is MDM send or update patches of Mobile Devices ?
As of now these are the scenarios, kindly revert if any good documents to show this or share your expertise on the Integration Part.
    Thanks for Reading...
    Arun

I would like to avail your valuable inputs to understand on the  Client provisioning part for the Mobile Devices/ Laptop. I understand  from your reply that MDM integration is not available in the current  release ISE 1.1 - That is correct.
Kindly let me know your views or any documents on the following scenarios with the current release in mind
    1. User  with Mobile devices connecting to Wireless  ( both Employee  and Guest ) , How the Flow differs for the Employee and Guest.  How the  client provisioning is done ( i.e. Like Posturing  or Compliance Check  ).
The posturing and compliance check is done based on the user authentication information (i.e. AD memberOf vs Guest user) combined with the users endpoint (windows, mac osx, or a mobile device), ISE then has a few decisions to make based on the authorization policies. For example, if a Domain User coming from a Windows 7 machine joins the network, then can either use the nac agent, or the web agent. Then you can scan for registry settings, file settings, program requirements, hotfix compliance...and the list goes on. If the user fails a check then you can either assign an acl for the user so they only have guest access, or you can place them into a remediation vlan the options are entirely up to the requirements and however the solution is implemented.
    2. User  with Laptop  connecting to Wireless  ( both Employee  and Guest ). How the client provisioning is done ( i.e. Like Posturing   or Compliance Check ).
Guests are usually redirected to the guest portal which they authenticate and their user group falls within the Guest container that is on the ISE internal database, that is usually coupled with an authorization profile that grants them internet access. For the client provisioning, that is usually done based on the operating system, via profiling (dhcp, and user agent string., netmap...etc) and can be fine tuned for all laptops or to a specific set of users based on their group membership.
    3. What are advantages of having ISE also in  place for Mobile devices, since most of the Mobile related tasks ( like  Authentication, Authorization, Profiling and  Posture ) are carried out  by MDM. I am checking for the significant advantage of having ISE for  Client network having only Mobile devices. Kindly clarify.
Currently the advantage of Cisco ISE is that it supports profiling within wireless and really fits well within a network that has mostly Cisco products since they are all part of of the Borderless security initiative being driven on the backend. The product teams for wireless, wired, security (vpn..etc) and ISE are pretty close in building their solutions so that you can get connected with any device any where (sorry for the sales pitch). The latests wireless code is improving and is going to have support similar to the ios sensor for wired devices where dhcp, cdp, and other attributes can be sent in the radius packet for better profiling decisions. With integration for an MDM platform coming soon, and also support for TACACS rumored (have to verify with your account rep) you have options that really stand out from a unit that only supports MDM. Cisco ISE also comes with a wireless product ID so that makes the budget work when it comes to deploying ISE if you arent looking for enforcement on your wired devices.
    4. Do you recommend 802.1X Authentication to use for the Employee and Contractor? The Guest user  authentication as Open ?
For internal users and vendors the best option by far is dot1x, almost all operating systems are capable of performing dot1x and the 1.1.1 MR has a piece now that can provision the supplicant for the users, by using scep to enroll certificates or configure peap settings.
There is a feature within the guest portal that allows you to statically assign guests into endpoint group, that feature is called device registration web authentication. It seems like an open network but uses mac filtering to assign these devices to an endpoint without requiring users to enter any credentials. They are presented with an AUP page, once they accept their mac address is mapped to the endpoint group
    5. How can we ensure the Encryption of traffic from the Guest user to the NAD ( Network Access devices ) ?
This may be a wireless question but I am sure the encryption is done using AES and using dot1x as the key management here is a brief background for this - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807f42e9.shtml#L2
You can also use the anyconnect client which can provide macsec which is layer 2 encryption for wired - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/vpndevc/ps6032/ps6094/ps6120/qa_c67-622477_ns1049_Networking_Solutions_Q_and_A.html
    6. We are also looking for VDI  ( Citrix, VMware ) solution for the  client  ( both Employee and Guest ) , how ISE can play a role in  securing the VDI environment.
For most thin clients you can perform dot1x authentication on the device itself, however that is something the manufacturer will have to support. This is a little gray for me.
    7. Is that any integration required  with Citrix or VMware. How the  VDI can be offered based on the User  role ( i.e. Employee, Contractor or Guest ), since Guest database is  available only with ISE, how the checks are made from the VDI  environment.
IN ISE there is an identity sequence which can authenticate users in AD first, if the user is not found then it can look in the internal database.
Our solution demands  MDM in the integrated  solution, As on today ISE cant be integrated with MDM. so what kind of  solution we can propose to have MDM and Cisco ISE .Do the clients now  enter the network should have already installed the MDM agent (or) any  other way of pushing the same to the Client.
Today there is no integration between the devices, the last release time I heard was December for this feature. However it would be best to confirm with your Cisco Account rep on this issue.
    Thanks,
    Tarik Admani

  • No receiver could be determined while doing SAP ECC Integraion with MDM 7

    Dear All,
Can you please help me to resolve the following issue.
We are doing SAP ECC Integration with MDM 7.1 by using MDM PI Adapter.
Source side we are processing MATMAS.MATMAS05 IDoc and Receiver side we are using MDM PI Adapter to Connect the MDM System.
I have checked the Configuration by using Test Configuration Wizard, it showing every thing fine there.
Is it because of any network connection issue at the Target system (MDM) side?

    Hi,
From error looks like it is not failing at receiver determination step. if you all configurations are fine, then this could be because of system cache refresh.
Go to Edit mode in your scenario and again save it and activate it. Do a cache refresh and check if it works.

  • Integrate EP 5.5 with MDM Standard Repositories

    Hi everyone,
Does Anyone experienced the EP integration with MDM Standard Repositories.  If yes.  Please share your experiences here.  I am trying to do the same.
    Thanks
    Veera

    hello sir,
These are the common question come to your mind when you dealing with repositories.
    1. Will there be separate repositories for IT
        scenarios, GDS & Catalog publishing?
    2. How data is harmonized in SAP MDM 5.5? What is the
difference between Syndicator, GDS & SCM?
    > As far as my knowledge goes there is no separate
    > repository for IT scenarios, GDS and catalog
    > publishing. GDS stores the trade item data in MDM
    > repository iteself.
Though GDS is an application built upon MDM platform and uses hence its repository this repository can not be used for other purposes than GDS. In other words, this is a private GDS repository and if you want to leverage product data for other purposes you have to build another MDM repository.
In regards to IT scenarios it actually depends on your business scenarios. It may be one repository used for harmonization and central data management or two different. Anyway it's one repository per object family (Customers, Products, Employees and so on
    Hope IT Helps...!!

  • MDM catalog integration with SRM 7.0

    Hi all,
We will be upgrading from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0
We currently have CCM .....Few questins on catalog enablement for us with SRM 7:
1.With SRM 7,0,can we use CCM oor MDM is the only option???

    HI,
1.With SRM 7,0,can we use CCM oor MDM is the only option???
You can use any catalogs which support SAP OCI interface.
2.Is it better to have MDM as a seperate server and enable SRM MDM catalog content?
MDM Server(contents) and AS Java(for UI) are required. Please check the installation guide.
3.We have 2 punch out catalogs for 2 vendors. How to enable the punch out catalog links in SRM 7.0???What is the path for IMG config??
Same as SRM 5.0. Define External Web Services.
    4. We have around 20 internal supplier catalogs .Now should we upload few of the supplier catalogs and then upload rest or can we upload all the suuplier catalogs at once through IMPORT MANAGER in MDM ???What are therestrictions in terms of the no of catalogs or catalog data that can be improted and mapped ???
Yes. You can use Import Manager. No issues.
6.The backend master data such as Supplier/Porg etc.....how is that synchronised from SRM to SRM MDM catalog???Is it through some scheduled programs???
      MDM Extractor is available.
7.What is the use of PI/XI in enabling SRM MDM catalog??Why is it mandatory??
      Mainly for contents mapping.
    8. What are the allowed file types for cataog data upload in MDM???Like it was CSV in CCM...
Any. Even for DB interface is also supported. You see all options when you run import manager.
    9. Where can I find some sample catalog files for test upload?
Sample repository definition is delivered. You can manually create 1 entry by Data Manager.
10.What are the lastest SP for MDM available for integration with SRM 7.0??
You can find it SAP Service Marketplace. http://service.sap.com/swdc
    11. after price changes from supplier(thru negotiation),are these price changes to be updated manually for indiavidual items/products through MDM data manager or is there any way to automate this delta update for price in MDM???
You can use contract and contract items are transfered to Catalog.
12.Also maintaining catalog data in MDM for SRM procurement will be a seprate actibity just like maintaing catalog in CCM??
      Yes. Catalog is just Catalog.

  • Brief discussion on SAP XI and its' Integration with SAP MDM.

    Hi,
I have never worked on SAP XI.
I am discussing it on brief, please give your valuable replies.
SAP XI consists of System Landascape Directory(SLD).
SLD Consists of Business System and Techinical System.
Technical System contains all information about the software
component. The Business System consists of Inbound and Outbound Business
System which are used as logical names for data transfer.
There is communication Channel for Receiver and Sender Business System and n agreement
is signed between Sender and Receiver.
Outbound Interface defined for Business System Outbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System,
Inbound Interface defined for Business System Inbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System.
In SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Directory, we have defined the Integration Scenarios,
Actions, Interface Objects, Mapping Objects, Adapters Objects.
Mapping Object defines the Structure and Value Mapping.
Adapter Objects defines the Adapter program which implements RFC Adapter, FTP Adapter logic.
FTP Adapter is used for XI-MDM Communication.
RFC Adapter is used for XI-ECC Communication.
Integration Repository: Both Outbound and Inbound Interfaces are Mapped with Value mapping and
    Structure Mapping inside Integration Repository.
The File Adapter takes the File from the Outbound port of MDM System
and sends it as IDOC to Receiver Business System.
Value Mapping must be done between Sender and Receiver interfaces.
Value Mapping is done by XSLT or Java based program.
SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Server at runtime:
Message Split, Interface Determination, Receiver Identifaction, Mapping, Techincal Routing
and Call Adapter Proccess are done.
In SAP XI 3.0 and MDM 5.5:
Step 1: Create busines system as service.
Step 2: Create communication channel for each business service. If the system can communicate
through different channels, then create all possible channel types if necessary.
Step 3: Create receiver agreement between the systems.
    Step 4: Interface determination:
    - Here you see for the first time the software component mentioned;
there are some special requirements regarding this software component in relation to the customizing ID mapping.
    - To modify this software component, the customer needs to copy the SAP standard delivered software component
into its own namespace. The customer is able to modify to create archives
    for the customized ID mapping.
    Receiver determination.
Configure an FTP Server on the MDS.
Create a send folder for outbound messages using outbound port(s) for
    remote systems(s).
Create receive folder inbound messages using inbound port(s) for remote systems.
This ia all about concept of SAP XI Infractsture and its' Integration with SAP MDM 5.5.
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

    Hi Kaushik,
You must be aware of File types that MDM Import Manager can Import i.e. we have XML, Excel etc. Now there are two transactions to extract data from R3
    1. MDMGX -
             - For lookup table extraction
             - Output in XML format which MDM can import without using XI.
              - FTP can be configured to put the file in the desired folder which will be then picked by Import Server.
    2. MDM_CLNT_EXTR -
              - For Main table records.
              - Output is in Idoc format which MDM doesn't understand hence we need XI in between which converts Idoc file received from R3 into XML which can then be imported using Import Manager or Import Server. For this we need to implement XI Scenario that consists of Source System, Receiver System, Type of Data etc.
    Just a basic understanding...

  • MDM Integration with ERP system

    Hello MDM Guru's.
In our system Landscape, use Baan ERP system to fetch data into MDM, cleanse it and push data to SRM/BI system for Business Requirements.
Our MDM is neither connected to any R/3 (ECC) system. we want to have a kind of Reports developed for MDM Data present in our system based on Companies (our Manufacturing sites) and have a automatic mapping of our Manufacturers , Suppliers & Customers based on Global and local Stratergy.
According to my understanding, we can use MDM API's (ABAP or Java). As MDM is not integrated with any of the ERP (ECC or Netweaver Data base)?
We have options to integrate MDM with ECC 6.0 & Netweaver system. Which could be a better option to connect with? we are planning to integrate MDM with E-Portal too, could Portal data base be used.
    Please guide me.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    MSR

    Hi Srihari,
If you want to use MDM in you landscape and store and cleanse data in it and then sent the cleansed data to a reporting tool for analysis then you can do it in one of the methods:
    - Either connect MDM to the other systems in your landscape using XI as the means of data trnasfer
    - Or connect MDM to other systems using the API.
In the first method.you need to use PI/XI to manage the flow of master data to and from your MDM system to others. MDM can be used for data cleansing and enrichment within MDM before syndicating it out.
In the second method you can connect to MDM through other systems using the API.
As you mentioned about reporting on the master data in MDM based on the Companies or manufacturing sites etc.You can achieve this suing MDM ABAP API.
ABAP can be sued as a reporting tool.wherein it will connect to your MDM system through the configured API and fetch the MDM data and generate simple reports .
If you wish to access the MDM data online you can use portal front end. but in this case portal wont be capable to store any information as it is just a front  end.
You will have to use MDM as a backend storage system.JAVA API can be used for futher customization on EP.
For ABAP API use you can refer the below link:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/profile/tip%2b%2bMDM%2bABAP-API%2b%2bThings%2bto%2bRemember%2b(for%2bStarters)(abap api)

For Java API  you can refer the below link:

  • MDM Integration with PLM!

    Hi All,
How can we Integrate with PLM? with using adobe forms and workflow?

Any sort of integration between MDM and a mySAP application such as PLM can be done one of several ways.  First, there is the tried and proven method which is to use Exchange Infrastructure as the message broker.  The trick with MDM as opposed to most of the other SAP applications is the fact that there is no native ALE, so it sort of has to be treated as a third-party software product in order to integrate using XI.  If you are interested in this method, you can check out these two weblogs which don't detail your exact secario, but will give you a better understanding of how to integrate MDM to NetWeaver apps:
    1.  Either way you go, you will need to configure the MDM syndication server, this blog I wrote should help you with that:
    /people/harrison.holland5/blog/2006/11/27/mdm-syndication
    2.  If you want to use XI as the message broker check out my other blog:

The other methods of integrating MDM with PLM is with the two API's for MDM.  This of course being the ABAP API and the JAVA API.  Check out <a href="https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700004121872006E">THIS LINK</a> (which requires a marketplace login) which provides great documentation on the ABAP API.  It has everything you need to get started.
And of course the MDM wiki has a link for more information on the ABAP API:

  • OBIEE integration with Hyperion MDM?

Has anybody seen or worked on a project that integrated OBIEE with Hyperion MDM/DRM? I'm not familiar with MDM but it seems to me that MDM creates metadata that may overlap what OBIEE already has.
Any information on this would be greatly helpful.

    Update in more detail: [http://hekatonkheires.blogspot.com/2010/01/obiee-101341-essbase-931-udml-for-cube.html]

  • Any Chance of Integrating MI with MDM/ XI/ BI

    Hi All,
I would love to know any information on integrating MI with MDM/BI/XI or vice versa.
According to me using XI in MI is a restriction.
Any updates from SAP regarding the same (May be in Newyork release).
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Karthick

    Hello Mainak,
Here are the benefits which I got from below link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b2/e50138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
The integration of SAP XI and SAP BW offers the following advantages:
    ·        Central maintenance of message flow between logical systems of your system landscape.
    ·        Options for transformation of message content between sender and recipient
Mappings help you to adapt values and structures of your message to the recipient. In this way, you can transfer different types of files to a SAP BW system using interface mapping. However, in any case, it is necessary to transform the data into a format that corresponds to the interface of the function module that is generated in SAP BW and used for data transfer. The function module contains a table parameter with a flat structure. This means that the data have to be transformed so that they fit to a flat structure in SAP BW.
    ·        Using proxy communication with SAP BW
Proxies are executable interfaces generated in the application systems for communication with the SAP XI Integration Server. We recommend the use of proxies for communication with SAP BW because they guarantee Full Quality of Service (Exactly Once in Order). They also guarantee that the data is delivered only once and in the correct sequence. The SAP XI Integration Server keeps the serialization as it was established by the sender.
