DSEE 6.3.1 adm login

My DS 6.3.1 Directory Server runs as root.
The dscc console interface adm uses the directory manager
password. When I attempt to look at the Directory Server
logs I am forced to log on as root.
Is there a means - circumvention that allows non-root
access users to use these dscc functions ?
Thank You,
JYard

There's two levels of authentication involved when using DSCC. One is LDAP level (admin user, make config changes on the instance etc). The other is system level access (to start, stop, read logs etc). Both are neccesary and cannot be bypassed.
If you don't want to use root, you can always install the zip version of DSEE as a non-root user. But some unix-user access will be involved.

  • HT5787 I made a HD with Yosemite to be used as a startup disk. I have forgotten the adm password for this disk. How can i reset the adm password?

Change adm login password running the MacBookPro from an external disk.

Restart holding the Command and R keys, then from Utilities on the menu bar select Terminal.  When the Terminal opens, type at the cursor EXACTLY:
    resetpassword
    and press Enter.
When the Reset Password window opens, select the drive then select the user account.  Type a new password twice, leave the Hint blank, Save and accept the next dialog that opens.  At the bottom of the Reset Password window agree to reset the user's home directory permissions,
Go to the apple left side of the menu bar and Restart.

    Hi,
well, the error -4008 denotes that the user/password combination used by the DB Analyzer for accessing the DB are incorrect. The DB Analyzer tries to issue SQL commands with the SYSDBA user.
Do you know the user/password combination of your SYSDBA user?

  • Maintenance Optimizer - ConfigTool.sh - SAP NetWeaver 7.0

    Hi Everybody,
First I wanted to set up my MOPZ  to do this I have to create a RFC "SAPSLDAPI"
Until there no problem but the next step become a little more problematic.
I have to run the admin tool  /usr/sap/SOL/..../j2ee/admin/go.
Unfortunatly I lost the password's J2EE_ADMIN, no problem google is your best friend and then I tried to run the config tool. Oh big surprise
The java class not found: com.sap.offline.OfflineToolStart
What can i do to fix this problem?

It sounds like you have two different issues here.
    MOPZ
    And Java Stack not starting.
Maintenance optimizer requires that your connection to SAP is in tact first through the saprouter.  Do you have all of that in place and is your rfc connections for SAP_OSS and SAPNET_RFC working.
SAPSLDAPI is a connection for the SLD not for the maintenance optimizer.
The link you put below doesn't have anything to do with configuring maintenance optimizer.  The ossnote you posted is a collective note for maintenance optimizer and points you to spro to follow the instructions.
    Review https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/solman-mopz
    Review ossnotes 990534 and 1024932
try running SE38  SM_PREP_MAINTENANCE_OPTIMIZER  That may give you some assistance.
Anyone that is going to download using the maintenance optimizer needs to exist in transaction AISUSER
    As for the Java stack.
It sounds like your path is not right.  Did you update your path environment variables with the installation directory of java?   Check that java -version is working from the <sid>adm login.

  • Tomcat-4.0.2 can not locate Java Class

I have an application which runs fine under Tomcat-3.x. Now I am trying to run under Tomcat-4.0.2, right after I login to my application (As you can see the new Tomcat does find my application's index.html fine), I got an error:
Apache Tomcat/4.0.2 - HTTP Status 500 - Internal Server Error

It looks Tomcat can not find the Utility class, even though it is under usual place: WEB-INF/classes.
Now, I even copies all the directory structures into $CATALINA_HOME\webapps, still no luck.
    I am running on W2K.
Can anyone shed me some light? Thanks.

Oh! I can do it now.
Just import the class you want...
    <%@page import="Utilities" %>
and put that class in WEB-INF/classes

Can you post the errors log from the ADS instance? Not sure if it anything would be there though.
    - how about running it with a verbose option (-v)
Easiest would be to dismantle and recreate ads.
    E:/DevTools/DSEE/dscc6/bin/dsccsetup dismantle
    E:/DevTools/DSEE/dscc6/bin/dsccsetup initialize

You need Database user, not operating system user <sid>adm user.

  • DSEE 7 lacks webconsole administration, dscc agent problems

I recently reinstalled one of my Sun Sparc (V210) servers with the latest Solaris 10 release.
    Solaris 10 10/09 s10s_u8wos_08a SPARC
Previously I had DSEE 6.3 installed. Didn't have the original downloads handy (my bad) so went to download them again. The oracle download liinks are currently brokem (thanks oracle.) It was fine last week. As per previous post was able to download DSEE 7 packages. Could not download DSEE 6 packages. Installed DSEE 7. Created my database instances and suffixes and restored from LDIF files
    server1# dsadm create ...
    server1# dsconf create-suffix ...
    server1# dsadm import ...
I can not get the DSCC webconsole module to work.
    Did the following
    server1# /opt/SUNWdsee7/bin/dsccsetup initialize
    server1# svcadm restart webconsole
    server1# /usr/sbin/cacaoadm enable
    server1# /usr/sbin/cacaoadm start
start: server (pid 7270) already running
    server1# ./dsccsetup cacao-reg
    DSCC Agent is already registered
Can login to the server webconsole with no problem, but the dscc app is not listed.
If I try to manage the ldap server on this server (e.g. server1) from web console on another machine (e.g. server2) , I get the warning that the dscc agent is not running on the server1.. Which it clearly is.

I have installed Sun web server 7.0 on my server. When prompted, I specified /usr/java (ie. java jdk 1.5.0_25-b03) for the java path.) Web server wanted 1.5._09 or later.
jdk 1.5.0_25-b03 is the default java install on the system.
    # java -version
    java version "1.5.0_25"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_25-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.5.0_25-b03, mixed mode)
jdk1.6.0_21 is also installed but is not the default.
It seems that something than runs with java 1.5 is not necessarily guaranteed to run with java 1.6 so I figured.
I editted the admin server magnus.conf file as per the install docn.
"dsccsetup initialize" seemed to finally run without leaving messages in /var/adm/messages about java problems.
I deployed the WAR file in the web server. If I click the option to enable JSP precompiliation I get the message
ADMIN3320: JSP Compilation Error: file:/opt/sun/webserver7/admin-server/config-store/xxxxxxxxxxxxxx/dscc7/jsp/ProxyInstanceNotImplemented.jsp(51,0) PWC6305: The end tag "</cc:pagetitle" is unbalanced
If I deploy with out enabled JSP precompilation it seems to deploy OK. When I connect (from Firefox 3 on linux) to
    http://myserver.domain.com /dscc7 I get redirected to
    http://myserver.domain.com/dscc7/dcc7Module/DCC
    with the messages

This aside, I can still not register this server in the dscc console on any of the other directory servers (they are running DSEE 6.3.) Those servers report that cacao is not running on this server. It clearly is running tho.

  • Solaris 9 remote login (ssh) drops connection

    Hello All,
I wonder if you can help me...
Let me give you some set-up details before I ask you the question.
I have Ultra-60 at home with Solaris 9 and recommended patch cluster installed. The machine is connected to a Linksys WAG54G ADSL router/modem through RJ45 ethernet cable. The router also has windows XP machine connected through RJ45 ethernet cable. I also have another windows XP machine that connects to the router over wireless connection.
I have opened up required ports on the router/port forwarding so that I can access the services remotely. I was first using default ports for http and ssh, but have now changed them to different ports - to be a bit more secure.
I have created a domain name through dyndns.org.
I have ssh running on the solaris 9 machine and has all the remote commands (rlogin, rsh, telnet) commented out in the /etc/inetd.conf and hence are not running on the machine.
I have a UK ADSL servise provider called Pipex.
Now lets get to the problem:
The whole purpose of the above set-up is that I want to access sun machine from work. The whole set-up works perfectly well - for a little while and then something strange happens. At work, when I connect to the sun machine, everything works fine and when I leave the session idle for 15-20 minutes (could be less time), the connection drops and then I can not connect to the machine for good couple of hours. When I say connection drops, I do not mean that system displays a logout message or something - There is no response from the server - pressing of return key does not do anything and eventually I get a message on windows pop up that connection is disconnected. If I try to retry, the client tries for a while and then says that connection timed out. Same thing happens if I use the IP address I use the right IP address as someone at home checks the router to confirms the correct IP address. This eliminates problem with domain name.
I have tried everything and can not work out what is causing this problem - the machine has all the 9_recommended patches. To narrow the problem down, I set up apache server on the sun machine. Today, when the connection dropped, I tried to connecting to the apache server and it failed - 'page can not be displayed' message on the internet explorer. However, after couple of minutes, I managed to get to the website but still can not get login prompt through ssh client.
What does that mean? Does it mean that server is playing up, or is it the sshd or is there any time out option in solaris 9... the strange thing is that I can access the web page - though it was not accessible at start when connection to ssh dropped out.
Could it be the router? The linksys do not come with a rule based firewall... so there is nothing that states that disconnects after some inactivity. The port forwarding is working as I do get to login to the server and to the web server. It can not be changing the default port numbers as the problem was there when there were standard ports being used.
It is not the link at my office as my friend, in a different company gets the same problem on my machine connects to it and after some in-activity, the connection drops and then he can not login for a long time.
It can not be the ADSL link as people at home can use the internet without any problem and they can access the sun machine locally.
It can not be the windows machines connected to the router as problem is there when windows machines are switched off dont know if windows would cause this, but just wanted to eliminate anything that I could think of.
One strange think that I did see yesterday was that, when I managed to login the last command showed that I was logged in throughout the time the time when I could not logged in . The error message in the /var/adm/messages stated something like socket error and connection reset by peer or something can not give you exact message right now as I can not login to the machine. The time on the message was couple of couple of minutes before I managed to login again and that time was the same as the time showed in last command is my logout time.
Does anyone know what is causing all this problem? Any pointers or help will be appreciated. If there is any place else that you think I can get the answer, please kindly let me know.

    Thanks...
    A few new developments....
    - I opened 2 sessions to the server, left one with no activity and in the other session, I ran iostat 1... The session with no activity got dropped and iostat one carried on... When the session dropped, I managed to login straight away... so no delay of couple of hours. May be because iostat was still running?
    - I now have an ftp server running on windows and I can access it even when connection drops out... right now I have no access to sun... but ftp server is running fine.
    - I enable remote router access and I can access that as well...
    - I enabled telnet and I can not access the sun with telnet either.
So, its either solaris 9 or the router.
Tomorrow, I will connect an another sun machine and then see if connection to both is dropped or just one. If it is to both then it must be router as the way ssh, telnet work is different to the way ftp work - as someone told me this today... so if other sun machine is not accessable then its not sol9 but router. The other machine has Sol 2.5.1 running.
Some one said that it could be that router is running out of translation table entries - but with so few connections? Or it could be that when there is no activity, router thinks that connection should be dropped - there is no open in the router setup which states that... Or Solaris has some timeout feature?
    More later.
    Kind Regards
    Ahmerin

You cannot "ssh passwd username" remotely, for one thing. Remember, the passwd command is going to ask for input from the terminal.
Also, look into the pfexec man page because you might need to change roles in order to change the password on the remote system.
