DSEE11g non-default replication manager

How to specify the non-default replication manager when creating replication agreement using dsconf
eg.
#dsconf create-repl-agmt -h host1 -p 1389 dc=example,dc=com host2:1389
how to specify the non-default replication manager of host2 and password when creating agreement.
Thanks,

  • Another replication manager user for external replication

    Hi,
We would like to replicate to external vendor LDAP, which will acts as a consumer. We do not want to give the same password as we use for default Replication Manager. Preferably, we would like to have a seperate replication user.
Could someone point me some link, which could help me in setting this up. We're at 11G version and consumer is at 5.2. We do know how to setup replication between 11g and 5.2, however not sure on how to utilize this seperate user, specially like setting up of ACI etc.
    Thanks in Advance.

Do you something more against it, specially related to technical overhead it might cause on our side? Anything, which we could justify our application owner that this is something we should push back to external vendor for upgrade.Personally I have seen two types of problems in mixed topologies.
First, protocol conformance is different. In general later versions are stricter than 5.2, but if you get different behavior on the replica than on the supplier, it's possible for an operation to succeed on the supplier but fail on the consumer. And if that happens, replication will simply halt and reinitialization or replication repair will be needed to get replication working again. This is more likely if the supplier is 5.2 and consumers are later, but I would not be comfortable indefinitely that every possible edge case has been accounted for.
Also, 5.2 consumers have had stability issues with mixed topology configurations. Every master that has ever participated in the topology leaves behind a replica update vector. 5.2 replicas tend to leak memory when there are more than a few of these RUVs, and they leak more, the more of them there are. If your existing topology has more than 4 masters you are definitely in an unsupported configuration, and should not be surprised when your 5.2 consumers start leaking memory, hanging, and needing periodic restarts. I know some hotfixes have been created for these kinds of problems, but I have also heard that Oracle Support is not building any more hotfixes for 5.x at all.

  • How to use non default port 1521 while 11.2.0.1 grid upgrade to 11.2.0.2

    Hi Team ,
We are planning 11.2.0.1 Grid infra rolling upgrade to 11.2.0.2 with out any downtime.
But while up gradation due to default scan port 1521 , 11.2.0.1 databases are not able to connect (remote connections)
We are using 1900 port for existing 11.2.0.1 grid infra scan.
While up gradation it is taking default port of 1521 insted of existing port 1900.
Please provide the solution to use non default port while 11.2.0.2 up gradation.
After upgrade the status as below.
    grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl config scan_listener
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN1 exists. Port: TCP:1521
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN2 exists. Port: TCP:1521
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN3 exists. Port: TCP:1521
Here I was getting TNS:no Listener errors from the client connections.
I have modifyed the scan port then it is working fine.
    grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl modify scan_listener -p TCP:1800
    grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4> srvctl config scan_listener
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN1 exists. Port: TCP:1800
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN2 exists. Port: TCP:1800
SCAN Listener LISTENER_SCAN3 exists. Port: TCP:1800
    grdoratst104:/apps/grid/grdhome:+ASM4>
Here the problem is we need to do the grid infra upgrade with out downtime, but due this default port issue clients are not able to connect to the database.
    Thanks

Why are you using a non default port? It does not improve security. It makes network management more complex. And causes the type of issues that you are facing now.
So before changing defaults, make sure that your reasons are technically sound. And using port 1900 when 1521 is available, is not technically sound by any means.
As for addressing the problem you have created for yourself by mucking around with port numbers. Use a NAT firewall (on each RAC node) to rewrite packets headers received on port 1900 and send these to the server's port 1521 instead (on the VIP or static IP as required).
This can be fairly easily done using iptables if your o/s is Linux. You need to:
    a) create a pre-routing NAT rule
    b) create a post-routing NAT rule
    c) create a forwarding filter rule for port 1900/tcp
    d) create an input filter rule to accept traffic on 1900/tcp

  • SSRS 2012 MP (Native) - Bug with non-default port on SSRS DB, Does not discover

We have test changing SSRS DB instance to default port 1433 and discovery is immediate in SSRS MP. When using non-default port, discovery fails, SSRS instance role is never identified.
Our SSRS is separated into app and db tires across two servers. Have tried creating sql network aliases, but this does not work either.
In our environment, we use non-default port for our SQL DB instances. how do we get SSRS to discover.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rois Cordova

The Monitoring Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services automatically discovers instances of SSRS 2012 by reading registry.
When the Monitoring Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services is imported for the first time, it creates three new Run As profiles:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Discovery Run As Profile
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Monitoring Run As Profile
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services SCOM SDK Discovery Run As Profile
By default, all discoveries, monitors and rules defined in the SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services management pack use accounts defined in the “Default Action Account”
Run As profile. If the default action account for a given system does not have the necessary permissions to discover or monitor the instance of SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, then those systems can be bound to more specific credentials in the
“Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services …” Run As profiles, which do have access.
It s recommend that you should check the default action account permission.

  • Object Replication Manager - Errors 6004

    Hello everyone.
I'm seeing these errors in SMS_OBJECT_REPLICATION_MANAGER component.
I have seen many posts with the same issue reported, but none with answer that would help me correct this in my environment, like here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/3f0cc0ed-5fd9-4860-aabd-e40e8f62053f/sms-object-replication-manager-failed-to-process-sms-object-changes?forum=configmgradminconsole
These errors do not go away. Instead, they keep piling up.
I looked at replication logs for more details but there is really nothing relevant there.
Does anyone have any suggestions where else could be the issue?
    Thanks you for your help.

  • Changing the default file manager in XFCE

How would I go about using Nautilus as the default file manager in XFCE instead of Thunar? I know it can be started up with 'nautilus --no-desktop', but how do I make this the default when opening folders from the desktop, menus, etc..?
The main reason I want to do this is because Thunar doesn't seem to remember a folders last setting. For example, there are folders which I would like to permanently view as a list, sorted by date; but there are plenty of other folders where this is not suitable. Nautilus remembers settings for each folder, Thunar doesn't, and it gets annoying changing the view mode each time. Also network browsing is easier in Nautilus, and I also like the way it tells you how fast file transfers are going.
    Thanks very much,

Well, it might be considered a dirty hack but it has worked for me in gnome before so it should also work in xfce.  Just edit the thunar.desktop file in /usr/share/applications and replace the Exec=thunar to Exec=nautilus --no-desktop and save the file.  Then any time thunar is launched, nautilus will be launched instead.
Otherwise, you can edit the menu with the menu editor and change the File manager command and do the same in the panel icon properties.  Both methods will work.

  • Creating a Global Temporary Table on non-default TEMP tablespace.

    Hello ,
    I am using Oracle 11g.
I have a procedure which create global temporary tables for its functionality. As the data which is going in the global temporary table , mean the data which is going in the default TEMP tablesapce is too huge ..... billions of rows..
So what i want to do is , I want to create the global temporary table in another TEMP2 tablespace ( which is not the default one) so the load of billions of rows of data will be shifted to TEMP2. The default TEMP tablespace will not be affected and it can be used for other transactions.
Is this possible. Can i shift the global temporary table from TEMP( Default temp tablespace) to TEMP2 ( the non-default temp tablespace) ????
Please guide me with proper solutions and examples ....
    Thanks in advance ..

Global temporary tables are instantiated in the temporary tablespace of the schema that inserts the data - not into "the default" temporary tablespace.
Assume Schema1 creates a GTT and grants all on that table to schema2
Assume schema1 also creates a procedure (authid owner, the default) to insert data into the GTT and grants execute on the procedure to schema2
If schema2 executes: insert into schema1.gtt, the data will appear in the temporary tablespace of schema2
If schema2 executes: execute schema1.procedure, the data will appear in the temporary tablespace of schema1
So if you want to protect the "normal" temporary tablespace, you could just create a special temporary tablespace for the owner of the procedure.

  • Will Hyper-V Replication Manager move a VM without shutting it down?

    Scenario
Let say I have two sites (Primary And DR). I have my production VM's running on my Primary Site.  If I protect them with Hyper-V Replica the VM is replicated and I can bring the VM up manually in the DR site. So I know that process work. I am trying
to minimize the outage of an app and the time it takes to bring the VM up and running. I have a database server in the primary site. I want to be able to move the VM hosting the database server to the secondary site without shutdown or with minimal downtime.
    Question
Can I use Hyper-V Replication Manager to migrate the VM with the database from the Primary Site to the DR site without downtime for the SQL server? When I mean downtime for the SQL server is that clients can continue to connect to the database and access
the data in the database while I am migrating the VM.
This is needed to maintain availability during DR testing of the Production environment.
    Thanks,
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
For DR drills you can use the test failover. A
test failover can spin up a test virtual machine for the production virtual machine. This VM can run in an isolated environment and does not affect the production environment. Your SQL server will have no outage while DR testing.
A test failover can be executed on an individual virtual machine or a recovery plan. This can orchestrate the drill as close to a real failover which recovers the application in a planned manner.
    Hope this pointer helps.

  • Reset & reverse document with open item managed and none open item managed

    Dear forum,
I would like to confirm the below.
If i have a posted document where the double entry has open item managed account and none open item managed account and where the open item managed account is cleared, how can i reverse this document.
The problem now is FBRA cannot reset and reverse (as the document partly has none open item managed account) and FB08 also cannot reverse (as part of the account is open item managed account and it is cleared).
Besides manually reverse via FB01, any other method?
    Thanks
Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions

Which document are you trying to clear using FBRA?  You should reset the "clearing document" using FBRA; not the original document that has one open item and one non-open item.  Once you reset the clearing document using FBRA, you should then be able to reverse the original document (the one that has one open item and one non-open item) using FB08.

problem is, during FBL3n, these documents (that were posted when the account is still non open item managed) is listed in the open items. can this items be "cleared"?

    RFSEPA02
    RFSEPA03

  • Manual login to Non Default DB with SSO enabled

    Hi,
I logged the following through SAP Support, but was advised that Single Sign-On was functionining as designed.  The issue is that the non-default database does not have a manual login page, whereas the default database does.  This is an issue for us, because we have two completely separate database, and cannot allow a User with a Windows AD account to login manually without disabling his Windows AD access altogether.
Refer to SAP Message detail below:
Please advise how we can login users manually to SSM when accessing
the "non default" SSM Database when they have Single Sign-On access.
We have 3 Users that generally will access the system using Single Sign-On, but will occasionally have to enter information using a generic
    User ("Initiator").
We have a path that we can use for manual login to the default
Database, however this appears to only work for the Default Database:
    http://ssmdev:50000/strategy/login/start.jsp
This will only work for the Default Database (set as pw database in
    Java System Properties).
The following path to the non-default Database (EPM Database) results
in automatic login for the user:
    http://ssmdev:50000/strategy/pilotworks/start.jsp?PilotWorksDB=EPM
Is there a path we can use to provide the manual login page for
    the "Non Default Database"
    Steps for Reconstruction
As above, login by the Users does not allow manual login to the Non
    Default Database, EPM.

    Hi Scott,
Sorry, I missunderstood your initial question and the documentation I referenced is not updated appropriately. You have to change the connection string to <server-name>.database.secure.windows.net when you enable the security/auditing features.
Documentation for this can be found

Does it only exist as part of the DBA Studios package?
I have tried using this but have found one major flaw. When using a replication administrator user for handing replication, I cannot specify the Tablespace to replicate objects to. All the other storage parameters are available except TABLESPACE.
