DSL-2750B and USB Printer Support

I just got a DSL-2750B modem/router. In the specs on this page it says it supports a USB Printer:
https://teleproducts.verizon.com/fileshare/plm/brochure/DL2750BVOL_brochure.pdf
On the D-Link Site the manual for this router shows screens to configure it. but those screens don't match the screens I get when I log in to the router. The ones on the router are all branded with Verizon.
If I open the Verizondrive icon showing up in my network I see a folder for Drives and one for Printers.  I have tested a USB drive in the USB port on the router, but can't configre a USB printer.
I have talked/chatted with the DSL support folks and they can't help. They told me I had to go to premium support and pay for the call.  That doesn't seem right that I have to pay for information on how to configure a device you sold me for a feature that your web site says the device has.
Please tell me how to configure a usb printer for this DSL-2750B

I have spent a couple of hours looking for the same information without success. I agree: this seems to me to be basic iinstruction, and Verizon support should provide it without charge .Is anyone at Verizon support listening? Thanks in advance for your help.
I think perhaps you are a bit confused. This is a peer-to-peer support forum. Posters are fellow end-users like you unless noted as a Verizon Employee via rank and/or avatar.

  • Download usb printing support

OK I have unfortunatly have windows 8.1 only because my old computer crashed and was forced to buy it. I hate it for my desktop. Aside from it having to restart IE all the time I am suddenly having problems with my printer. I have a HP Laserjet 1100.  Yes its old but it prints wonderfully. People think I must own an expensive printer when they see the copies. Anyway, the last time I printed on my computer was in October of 2014 and it printed fine. Suddenly it won't print now. I tried removing and reinstalling to no avail. I Dled the HP print and scan doctor. It said the drivers were installed but that I needed to click the Get Installer button to DLed the USB printing support.  I was expecting it to take me to a page where I could read a disclaimer and click a DL button but instead it to me to the main DL center page. So I did a search for USB printing support and tried DLing a couple different things but DR still says I need to DL the USB printing support. Can someone please get me off this ride.  Thank you!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I am not a Laser Printer Expert;  I could possibly be wrong about this:
I do not see an answer that contradicts that you have already found:  There is not a solution for Windows 8.1 for this vintage Printer.
I spent some time looking at the Windows 7 solution and even for that OS the possibilities are severely limited -- the scan features are stripped and much of the printer's functionality are no longer available.  I would not recommend something so radical as downgrading to Windows 7 as a means to save the Printer.  You could print, maybe, after a bit of work -- but the functionality is gone.
It might be time to consider an printer upgrade.   Sigh.  There are some good choices in new Laser Printers if you decide to give one of them a chance.
    Good Luck.

  • Bt Infinity hub and USB printing

    Hi all.
I have recently got BT Infinity and the new homehub required. I am liking the service though the new hub does not allow me to plug a printer into the USB port on the back.
I know the homehub does not officially support printing, but my previous homehub (version 2) allowed me to plug a printer into the usb port and use 192.168.1.253 as an ip address.
When I plug the same printer into the new infinity hub the homehub page says that nothing is connected to the usb port. If I plug a flash drive into the port it is recognised straight away.
When I plugged my printer into the usb port of the old version 2 homehub the hub page recognised the printer was plugged into the usb port and even gave the name and model of the printer.
Has anything changed that for the infinity hub that would make adding a usb printer impossible? Does anyone else with infinity have a usb printer plugged into the back of their hub? If so how did you get it to work?
Any help/info on this matter would be grately appreciated.

    Having the same issue.
What a shame I have to leave my old wireless router plugged in just so that I can use the shared printer.
Is there a reason this is disabled?

    Hi Omar,
I hope we can help get through this, & Thank You!  So since at this point it seems the software did have problems, either from being removed previously or just the combination of a few things, upgrade, install, and uninstall.
If this is the only printer you have, then I suggest the following.
    1. Go to System Preferences
    2. Go to Printers & Scanners
    3. (This step will remove all printers from the print queue) Right click on your printer on the left and choose "Reset Printing System"
    4. Close out of Pritners & Scanners and System Preferences
    5. Open Finder
    6. Click on "Applications" on the left side
    7. Move the HP or Hewlett-Packard folder to the Trash
    8. Click "Finder" on the top menu by the Apple symbol, click on "Empty Trash" (then click Empty Trash to confirm)
    9. Close Finder
    10. Find the downloaded Full Feature software "HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.40" and attempt to install again
Note: Step 10 is under the assumption that your printer is still on the wireless network, and the mac is also on that same network.
    11. Follow the onscreen instructions, including on the 3rd screen (Customer Install) to CHECK the box for "HP Scan".
    12. Continue following instructions to install.
If the Printer was not on the wireless network still, then simply plug the USB cable in before running the installer, and choose to install USB to Wireless.  When that install is complete and you have added the Printer Queue for Bonjour, you will then want to remove the printer queue for the USB printer.
Please post back your results.  (I hope I answered the questions, if I missed something, please let me know)

  • NetWare Queues and USB Print Servers

    Hello good people,
We usually use HP JetDirect en3700 (J7942A) USB print servers when we have
    to, which work well.
However, there is severe constraint in the supply chain at the moment.
Do any of you have a suggestion for an alternative USB print server that
supports printing from a queues environment? Willing to look at any brand
    or manufacturer.
    Thanks.

You need to install and configure NDPS (iPrint). The procedure is covered
in the docs and queue-based and NDPS can coexist. You then create a
printer in NDPS, have it service the queue. For output you use ypur
    printer, configured as LPR.

  • Compatible Wireless and USB Printer Lists using AirPort Extreme

Long night researching this issue. I bought a new AirPort Extreme (802.11n) yesterday and I LOVE IT. Very fast and no lag whatsoever. Then I tried to setup our printer via the USB port and BAM - issues.
Here is a short summary of what I learned (thanks to all the guys who posted a lot of this info on separate posts)
    - Unfortunately not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. - The AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
Go to iFelix for a "short" list of compatible and incompatible printers:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/index.html
Please note, there is a workaround for "some" printers - trial and error is the only way to see if your printer will work:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/1300.html
I believe most retail printers that use Postscript, PCL3, PCL4, PCL5 and PCL6 interfaces should work.
I learned the hard way that printers that use the "HP LIDIL" interface must be connected to the computer directly and will not work via the AirPort Extreme USB port.
Here is a list from IBM support of HP printers and which interface they use:
    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1ba0863cfa6463903862569c10078c9 03
    GOOD LUCK!!!!

Remember that when you attach a USB printer to the AirPort, the AirPort will perform the function of a Print Server. As you can imagine, if the server cannot locate the printer (for whatever reason), it will treat it as unavailable and not attempt to share it out.
However, like you expect, you wouldn't have to restart a dedicated print server, and thus, you shouldn't have to do the same with the AirPort. Of course, anything is possible.
I would suggest a couple of things to see if they would help: 1) Even though you have a single printer attached, I would suggest in investing in a powered USB hub. Plug the hub into the USB port first, and then, the printer into the hub. You can then power cycle the printer as required. 2) Completely remove the printer and associated printer drivers that were installed and reinstall it.

  • WDS with Win 7, 10.6 and USB printer

I've tried many times to get this to work.
Here's the setup I want to happen:
Westell 7500 as the DSL router hub.
Apple Airport Extreme working as a WDS.
    USB printer plugged into Airport.
Win 7 desktop wired with ethernet to airport.
Win 7 and Apple laptops print to USB printer.
    Here is what doesn't work:
    Mac wireless computers cannot print.
Win 7 Desktop cannot connect to internet.
Win 7 so far unable to print.
AIrport is b/g, Westell is also b/g. UPNP is enabled in Westell.
    Win7 64, 10.4.11, and 10.6.3.
Win 7 has the Airport Utility on it.

i think i figured out a solution. i downloaded the mac osx 10.6.8 combination update and installed it. the devices now work perfectly. i am wondering if there was some corrupt code or something somewhere. i would have liked a precise solution but atleast this will work for whomever finds this post. thank you for your reply.

  • EA3500 and usb printer

    Hello.
I read this manual Connecting a USB printer through the Cisco VUSB software on a Windows-based computer.
And i have last firmware on device.
But when i run CISCOVUSB, i see empty window and error: server is unavailable.
    Firewall if off.
    What is wrong?
    I have Windows 8.1 and HP M1214

    Hi 5exi!
I believe it's not supporting yet Windows 8.1. However, you can select the compatibility that you're going to use.
After downloading the Cisco VUSB on you desktop, right it, choose Compatibility, then select Windows 7 or XP.

  • AE and USB Print / Scan / Copy with HP PSC-2410

My Airport Express finds my HP printer immediately upon plugging the printer into the AE USB port. Printing to it from various macs around the house has been wonderful...but...In order to use the HP's other functions, such as scanning and copying, it seems that the printer must be directly connected to a mac in order for these functions to work.
Another poster said that he could not check his ink levels on an Epson printer through an AE USB connection, but could once he directly connected the printer to his Mac.
It seems that the AE will only act as a print server and will not allow for any other features to be shared.
Anyone else find this to be the case? Is there a fix? It is a pain to have to unplug from the AE and plug into the Mac every time I want to scan something.
    Thanks!
    STEVE

...but...In order to use the HP's other functions, such as scanning and copying, it seems that the printer must be directly connected to a mac in order for these functions to work.
That is true. The USB port on the AirPort Express suppports only printing.
Another poster said that he could not check his ink levels on an Epson printer through an AE USB connection, but could once he directly connected the printer to his Mac.
That is also true. Those utilities depend on a direct USB connection to the printer. See KB 107430, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express: Can't use USB printer utilities while printer sharing.
It seems that the AE will only act as a print server and will not allow for any other features to be shared.
    That is exactly correct.

  • HP t510 Thin Client and USB Printer Redirectiion

We have HP t510 thin clients connecting to server side XenCenter and running Windows 7 virtual sessions hosted on the server. We are trying to connect a USB lablewriter printer to one of the thin clients. On the t510 device, XEN Connection General Settings Manager/Local Resources/Local Device Redirection is selected for Printers/Printer Mapping. Also on the t510 device under Peripherals/USB Manager, Protocol/All USB is set to Citrix and Devices has the USB printer selected/checked and set to Redirect.
We have also tried within the assigned Windows session, a registry key has been created under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Citrix\ICA Client\GenericUSB\Devices, using both a generic redirect for all usb printers as well as device specific using the VID and PID hardware information of the printer.
When we have booted into the Windows session and have installed the USB drivers/printing software and physically conencted the usb printer, it is not being recognized by Windows at all. Device Manager is not showing any unknown devices or anything.
Has anyone seen this same issue? Is there an easy workaround? Will there need to be a hardware policy written in XENCenter?

I am waiting on a new G5 to arrive and want to be ready to connect it to my home office when it does.
I need to connect it with my current G4 466Mhz so they both share my cable internet connection and a USB printer (Canon pixma mp500). What is the best way of doing this?
Do I need to buy a router to connect the computers and a USB switch to share the printer? A guy at the computer store told me that the printer should be accessable by both computers if they are networked and I don't need a USB switch.

  • Powerbook 2400 and USB Card Support

I have a Powerbook 2400 with a PCMCIA slot. I also have a Belkin USB Adapter for the slot that works fine with a Powerbook G3. I also must run Mac OS 8.6 because of an old program I use everyday. The 2400 slot works with a modem card so I know it is not defective.
I downloaded Apple's USB Card Support 1.4.1, which allows the USB card support in pre 9.0 Macs. The notes say it will work with any PowerPC Mac. When I try to install it on the 2400, the window comes up saying this card suppot software is not supported on this machine. It works fine on the G3 running 8.6.
Is there any work around so that I can use this card in the 2400?
    Thanks,

The dialogue box "...USB DDK..." went away with your instructions for including "usbx", BUT the 2400 froze on restart.
I removed the "usbx" version of the USB Support Extension and went back to the USB Support Extension without "usbx". I restarted and it came up without the dialogue box. (?????). No freezing. So the dialogue box problem was solved.
With the old (non "usbx" support extension) installed, I inserted my Belkin USB card. I then inserted the little Memorex USB in the left slot of the two slot card spaces and it didn't work. I inserted it into the right slot and the little light on the Memorex flashed and the icon came upon the desktop. Hurray!!!
    Success!
I am a bit confused by all of this.
    1. With Plan B, it took code inserted into the resource window, "usbx" (pardon me if I use the wrong terms here) to get rid of the dialogue box (DDK) which came up on all restarts.
    2. That froze the 2400.
    3. Replacing it with the original USB Support Extension (without "usbx") allowed the 2400 to restart without freezing or the dialogue box.
    4. BUT my hardware Belkin card seems to mount USB drives on the right USB slot only.
Anyway it seems to be working, and you guys are phenomenal. My PC using husband is totally impressed by what you have been able to help me do. And I am reminded of how much fun it used to be to do this kind of stuff on my old Macs when we could still work with the extension folder.
Do you have any further analysis on this, otherwise I'll close it out as question answered? Bless you!

  • Airport Extreme and USB Printer Problem

I have an Epson printer connected to the USB port of my Airport Extreme.  This has worked just fine for years.  But from today neither my iMac nor my MacBook Air can "see" the printer any more.  I have rebooted everything a couple of times, but still no joy.
I have connected the printer directly to a USB port on my iMac, and all is well, so I guess the problem is not with the printer.
The only thing significant done to my system in recent times is the latest security update, which I installed yesterday.
Can anybody give me a clue as to why this problem has suddenly raised its head after all these years?

    Hi bricknell,
It sounds like you are experiencing some printing issues after performing an update to your computer’s software. Here is an article for you with some troubleshooting steps that will help you address this issue:

  • Can you have both Wireless and USB printing configured simultaneously on HP Laser mono 1102w

    Hi Guys / HP,
Just wondering if you can have the HP Printer mono laser p1102w setup for both USB2 cable hard-wired to notebook and for wireless connections concurrently.
Trying to install printer with both setups via install CD on my HP notebook Pavilion dv6.
Because when installing the printer CD it asks for one or the other i.e. USB or Wireless.
    Is there an easy workaround.
    Regards
    Mike

    Hello,
You should be able to connect both, but not Ethernet and wireless at the same time.
