DSL Internet service

I've been trying to order DSL from Verizon, for over a month. Everytime they put in my order--it gets cancelled. I tried to contact the tech support, provision, billing, sales dept. to find out what is going on! They were giving me the same answer, that I need to call my old internet provider and tell them to turn off the circuit line. I've been calling my old internet provider which is COVAD/Megapath many times and they even called Verizon tech support to inform them (Verizon) there's no active line under my account. It's been off since July 2nd! Still Verizon provision people were saying, they're still seeing the 'line' is still on. I even went at the West Covina CA store to seek help. They weren't abel to do so. I've been waiting for over a month. I thought, that's it if Verizon can't help me--I'm going on a different route. I ended up signing with Time Warner that was July 26, 2011. And guess what, Friday, July 29 around 10:00 AM, I got a message from Verizon (recording) saying that my DSL is ready for activation on August 3rd at around 9:00 PM. I thought this full of **bleep**! After I signed-up from Time Warner now you'll tell me that my order is ready for installation. Verizon is full of crap! Seriously, the sales people works for Verizon don't know what they are doing. Imagine how many time they sent me the equipment--18 times and 18 time I have to go at the UPS store to return these equipment otherwise Verizon will charge me a huge amount of money.
No wonder why big companies ended up being bankrupt due to negligence of their employees. Why, BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE! And nobody cares.
By the way the people that I've been working with to get this DSL service:{edited for privacy} of SanDiego, CA. {edited for privacy} of Misssouri Office & {edited for privacy}of West Covina CA office. They didn't do NOTHING!
It is really frustrating dealing with these Verizon employees. Are they smart people or what...

I'm sorry you are having this much trouble ordering the service. I have sent you a private message to get more information from you so we can assist.

I have a dsl internet conection with a download speed of .66 mbps.  I would like to watch netflix with a wireless conection to apple tv.  What is the required internet speed?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Netflix recommend a minimum connection speed of 0.5 Mbps, however at that speed many of the other features of the Apple TV will be painfully slow.

  • Extremely slow DSL internet service

I live in the Stroudsburg PA service area and have been experiencing dowwnload speeds of 0.07mbps to 0.20mbps for over  weeks.I spoke with numerous technical support people with no correction of the problem. It is virtually impossible to get to anyone in management but, with persistance, they will connect you to a "supervisor". After numerous hours on the phone, refusing to accept their insistance that nothing was wrong, a lineman was dispatched on 2 occasions, He spent a total of over 8 hours over the two dates and confirmed there is a service issued in this service zone. I learned it was called a "catina" problem, but giving it a name does not help me.
The lineman contacted numerous other Verizon personnel and discussed the problem, including his supervisor, to no avail. This matter effects a large number of Verizon customers in the local area and remains unresolved. Despite this, I keep getting messages from Verizon telling me the problem is "fixed" THIS IS FALSE!.
I am paying for high speed DSL and am getting speeds that are slower than my old dial up modem from the early 1990s. I have tried to speak to anyone in a management position, or even email someone, but cannot. It appears that Verizon has no method to interact with their customers, only automated, generic replies.
I WANT THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR!!!!!

  • Run internet service - miniapp

    Hi,
I’m a developer and I’d like to run the standard Internet Service DNO_NOTIF – support desk, on SAP WAS 6.10, but I really don’t know how to fill the parameters of the Internet Transaction Server (SE80-> Utilities->Settings)
    Can you help me?
    Best Regards,

It is possible to have DSL internet service without phone service technically. However Verizon only makes it is  available in some markets.
FiOS is available without Phone service in all markets where it is offered. I have FIOS, but my landline service is still over a copper pair, and is on separate bill as well.

  • PA30 Internet Service

    Hi Experts,
I have a custom infotype which needs to be provided to the ESS users in EP. Now I can create an ABAP program (with TCode) which calls the PA30 uing CALL TRANSACTION by passing the custom infotype number. Then I can create a Transaction iview for the custom program. But in this way I would not be able to pass the PERNR from portal. (how will I pass the portal userid o the transaction iview and then dynamically fetch and pass the corresponding PERNR to the ABAP program.
So is there a way to create a Internet Service of PA30 somehow and then use in EP-ESS
Any kinds of leads are appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Shobhit

  • I have had constant problems with my Verizon broadband internet service, and can only assume I will need to cancel my contract.

According to Verizon, my family is somehow using 15 to 16 GB of data per month on our unlimited data plan, sometimes more. This is a jump from 4 to 6 GB in the spring of 2012. We have done nothing to justify such a huge surge in data usage per month, but I don't seem to be able to get any satisfactory answer from Verizon as to what's going on. Our time spent on the Internet is no different than it's ever been. Last month, customer service tried to suggest that a virus we had had on one of our computers must have caused the computer to suck up data without our knowledge, but the virus is gone and our data usage just keeps getting worse. To make matters even more painful, such high "usage" causes Verizon to slow our UNLIMITED data service to such a snail's pace that we can't get anything substantial done online. And, for some reason, we now constantly lose our signal. We are connected via USB, which is a poor way to connect, granted. But it worked fine in the spring of this year. In fact, it was faster than anything we had had previously. Go figure? I tried to download Java last week, and the computer indicated it would take 15hrs to download. What a waste!
Apparently, my only option is to switch to MiFi (we are in a rural location lacking DSL) for my household. And this will cost me at least $60 more per month. Why, pray tell, would I want to pay more money to solve a problem that Verizon cannot satisfactorily explain to me if there are no guarantees MiFi will work any better? I cannot get my money back if it fails to improve our situation. And what about the supposed data usage? Am I supposed to believe that my kids' Facebook time combined with our internet surfing eats up 3 to 4 times as much data as it did only a few months ago? I don't think so. Something is not adding up here. Oh...I do have one other option. Home Fusion broadband added to our account for even more money per month.
Bottom line? Spend more money that I don't have for unreliable service, with what I believe to be bogus data usage charges. I think I just need to cancel Internet service, paying the fee for breaking my contract of course, and take my business elsewhere.
Anyone else having these sorts of problems? What have you done about it?

Regardless with what carrier your with you might have the same issue, My recommendation would be to get a router that will help you with viewing live traffic and keep a tally of your usage and any device connected to your internet connection.  You can go with the peplink balance 20 and be able to look at your traffic by the hour, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.  Look for trends, see what computers or devices are doing what I attached a screen shot so you can see an example of mine.  You can purchase the router at 3gstore

  • How can I connect my PowerBook G4 to my friend's Internet service?

My friend has a new iMac G5 and I'm going to her home to teach her some Mac tricks. I want to bring my laptop so I can show her how to download photos, mail, etc. How will I hook up to her Internet service?
At my home, I have a network that works between my iMacG5 and my PowerBook. But she only has a modem that gives her access to the Internet.
Will my PowerBook be able to recognize her Internet connection, or is there something more I'll need to do?
    Thanks!

When you get to her house you can look at her menu bar to see if there is an Airport icon up there. If not, there may not be a card, although the icon can also be removed. For certainty, check her System Profiler. If there is an AirPort wireless card in there, that will tell you.
If she does not have an AirPort card but her DSL modem has multiple ports, or if it is connected to a router that has multiple ports, just bring your own Ethernet cable and plug it into your Ethernet port.
If she doesn't have wireless or multiple wired ports from her modem, I don't know! Maybe you could bring a FireWire cable and try sharing her Internet connection using FireWire networking (same procedure as Silent One said but with a slightly different network selection), but I've never tried that although it could work in theory.

  • Why does it take for a month to get internet services?

I'd like to know why does it take for a month to get internet services? I ordered my service on Jan 18,2012 and I got the installation kit on Jan 21,2012. But I can't  use the internet and I have to wait until Feb 9,2012 for my service ready date. I think it takes a long time. I need the internet to do my project, but I can't. I'm very disappointed right now. I think I can use the internet after I place my order. (2 or 3 days it's ok, but I have to wait for a month that's terrible) Why can't they just turn on the services? I'd like to know who can i talk with?

Have you tried hooking the modem up, and does it get sync and does the Internet light come on? Even though you technicaly shouldn't do this, the line might already be up and running but they haven't told you yet. I don't know why it takes a month to hook up DSL. In my area, it takes two weeks typically from order to live, whether it's new service or a speed upgrade/downgrade (these are usually one week. They can be done on the spot, though!). No one has ever explained why it takes that long, but I presume it has someting to do with the billing cycle and perhaps line conditioning if they still do that (away from removing bridged taps and load coils), giving a technician time to pick up the service request and perform the task before someone goes, builds the profile for the line and then connects a few cables to an empty slot in a DSLAM and does some other background tasks to bring the connection online.

  • New home but no apparent VZ internet services

I checked on the Verizon site to see if I can purchase internet services at my new home.  Apparently, I can't (no internet service in the area).
What's strange is that there's a DSL box mounted on the outside of my home with 'Verizon' stamped onto it.
The home is 4 yrs old, so I can understand if services haven't been made available yet...but what's the deal with the DSL box already mounted.  Pre-staging?

I went through a similar issue.  On-line Verizon's web site said DSL was not available at my address.  I called repair after a tree took out our phone line and got to talking with the repair man.  When I asked him about DSL here, he thought for a moment and then said yes we should be able to get DSL.  A telephone call to Verizon got our DSL ordered and installed with no problem.
We're about 12 miles from the city associated with our exchange.  However there is a remote switch close to our location.  My thought is that the Verizon web site looks at your location and the distance to the city associated with your exchange to determine if DSL is available at your address.  It doesn't seem to take into account such things as remote switches.  IMHO.

  • Best wireless modem/router for Comcast internet service?

    Hello!
I am looking to switch internet service from Verizon DSL to Comcast. I have a MacBook Pro using Airport Extreme (supports 802.11 a/b/g/n), and my other computer is an iMac (OS 10.5.8, iMac 6,1), with a printer and a Roku box (I'm also thinking about switching to Apple TV). All are currently set-up wirelessly with a combined modem/router.
I know that there is a list of a bunch of potentials on the Comcast website, but I'm looking for real experience from Mac users. Good, bad or neutral comments are appreciated.
    Thank you!
    Ken

Don't pay Comcast monthly for a router. Buy a router. A router is a router, the best routers are Cisco based rackmount devices. Honestly the AirPort Express and Extreme are amazing and work quite well with Apple products. Plus if you purchase one and get AppleCare on it you get AWESOME support from your friendly AppleCare advisors... sure as **** beats going to India and talking to Fred.

  • Slow DSL bad service

On Wednesday, I called verizon service with very slow speed on my DSL.  For an hour we were resetting the modem and disconnecting the line from the wall. I was instructed by the technicican to type in speed test on google and we went the website, speedtest.net.  I was un able to even download the test.
In spite of this, the tech tried to explain to me that should either upgrade to verison fios, and/or there was something wrong with my computer.
I did a speed test on my own at my.verizon.com the results were this
    .37, and  .27 - download
    .40, and .41 - upload
today, The speed is somewhat bwtter  I did the speed test again (at my.verizon.com). The results are  this
    .94 - download
    .37 - upload
The upload could be better, but the download shows a remarkable improvement
    My question is this,
Can " In-home Agent" or "Virtual Agent" go directly to someone who knows what he is doing?
does "In-home agent" work with DSL ?
Is there another way to speed up the process and get information to a real technician?
    Thank you

  • Trying to get DSL internet. Verizon central office just down the Road less then 1 mile away.

I am trying to get service to my home and its a bit frustrating when the county physical address does not match with any other maps to try and get service. (its not just you). My property has 2 addresses associated with it
    {edited for privacy}
    and {edited for privacy}
There is a central office just down the Road with your logo on it (less then 1 mile when traveling on a Road with power/phone lines)
My neighbors address is {edited for privacy} if that is easier to find
    Our property is on the intersection for {edited for privacy}
    The Central office is RONETXXA
when i try to play around with the address trying to find one that is (somewhat close to my address to use as a reference point)
What seems to be the case is so far i have found that i can get Phone service and direct TV through Verizon.
Is this due to the distance the system thinks i am from the Central office or is it just that you do not provide Internet other then wireless even though there is a Central office and phone lines already set up in the area and to my 2 houses.
Also last year we got all the way too getting a phone rep who told us that we would be getting a call from engineering to look into our problem...... that never happened.
I would be most appreciative if you could please look into this.
If there is any more information you need to better understand my situation please do let me know and i will do what i can to provide it.

after the holidays i will again call customer support and hopefully i find them more equipped then the check for service plug in i also have access too and no way of dealing with difficult questions.
Is there perhaps a more equipped customer support number that i can call to save me time/effort because my issue is not just a simple plug and check issue.
    As it seems again its
    A. the system is not showing my adress distance correctly
    B. the central office is not providing dsl internet even though the lines are already set up. (that kinda seems odd to me)

  • Upgrade dsl internet

    hi!!!
if i want to upgrade the verizon dsl internet to 3mb. Does the verizon charge anything? thank

It is not really an upgrade for dsl 13mg.  They explained to me that it is the same service we have been getting but it was called 17-25kb.  They have changed up the terminology on us.  anyway you will get the same speed as you have had previously.  To get more speed you need to upgrade to their fios.  sea

  • Slow to no bbm and internet service

Slow bbm service and internet service, along with mail bb mail application. I am on Verison in LA. Saw postings online that all over the country people on different services and different models are experiencing the same problem. Called verison and they said it's bb that has the problem. Please let me know if this wide spreading issue is being addressed.
    Thanks.
    BW

Are there a lot of businesses nearby you that have DSL which are getting slammed with traffic via their Wi-Fi? Do you come out of the Central office or a remote terminal (You can ask Verizon this question).
Generally, congestion like this happens at a DSLAM level, so there would need to be a lot of volume going through the DSLAM in order to cause a slowdown like this. Slowdowns are more likely off of RTs due to limited bandwidth available to them.

  • HughesNet (satellite) internet service work with Airport?

I'm in process of getting satellite internet service installed. There is no DSL or cable where I live. I do not currently have an Airport Extreme, but have gotten on the internet many times while traveling in our RV when the campground has WIFI, so I know my Airport card works. My question is, will the Airport Extreme allow me to be wireless within my house with the satellite internet? The HughesNet will connect via a modem with an ethernet cable to my computer. Would I just plug that cable into the Airport, as they say you do with a DSL or cable internet?
I also see much mention of routers; would I need one of these also?
    Thanks.
