DSL on Internet off - possible connections details...

Hi,
I'm having an issue where I have synchronization with the exchange but have no internet connection.
Checked for noise on the line and it is clean, the router is saying the ISP is not reponding to PPPoE packets which would suggest this is a settings issue...
have the connection details changed?
I have tried all the different settings I could find via google and nothing has worked, have also waited for 3 days to see if it was an exchange end problem, still down and status page says everything is fine in my area.
For completeness here are the connection details I have had for the last year or so:
Annex A
UserName: [email protected]
password: blank
VLAN: 101
VPI: 1
VCI: 32
encapsulation: PPPoE
DNS is provided by ISP
The router itself is a Fritz!Box 7390 running Fritz!OS 6.06
I have also tried with no VLAN and with VPI: 0 VCI: 38 and every combination thereof...
Have I missed something?
Thanks
Mako
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Turns out the issue was as simple as a firmware update, had quite an old version.
So for google searches Fritz!box 7390 routers need to update to Fritz!OS 6.20 and the issue is solved.
Might have something to do with G.INP as that never showed up in the old firmware.

  • Switched from DSL to Cable, Can't connect to the internet

After switching to cable modem (Motorola SB5120 SURFboard) from DSL, I can't connect to the internet using my airport express. Everything is green - modem and airport, and the signal on my computer looks like I have full access, but there is a scrolling message... looking for PPPoe host. I have unplugged everything and restarted per the instructions on this site, but get the same result every time. My computer connects just fine using direct connection to the modem. I saw a download for a firm ware update for the express, but don't know how to apply that, either. Any help out there?
    Thanks!

Hello mom2gr82. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Let's double-check your AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) settings...
AirPort Express Base Station Setup (AX) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
Perform a "factory default" reset of the AX
    o (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044)
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
o Power-off the Cable modem, AX, & computer(s); Wait at least 30 minutes.
o Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    Setup the AX
Connect to the AX's wireless network, and then, using the AirPort Admin Utility, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
o Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
o Create a closed network (unchecked)
    o Wireless Security: Not enabled
    o Channel: Automatic
    o Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    o Connect Using: Ethernet
    o Configure: Using DHCP
    o WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    o Distribute IP addresses (checked)
o Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
    Change Wireless Security
o Wireless Security: WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal
o Encryption Type: WPA and WPA2
Base Station Options - WAN Ethernet Port
    o Enable Ethernet Port (checked)
    o Enable SNMP Access (unchecked)
    o Enable Remote Configuration (unchecked)
o Enable Remote Printer Access (unchecked)

I am trying to set up internet sharing from my macbook air but there does not seem to be an option for this because the air is connected to the internet via wifi connection. Is it possible to still share this?

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • Internet won't connect on iPod touch?

At the beginning of the week my internet stopped working, someone fixed it for me yesterday and it works fine the the computer but i can't get the wifi to work.
It still pops up on my ipod same as always called linksys, it will give me three bars but tell me its not connected to the internet if i try to visit a website.
Oldly enough it will let the google homepage load and thats it. I have tried to reset my network settings, restart the router, renew lease but nothing works.
One other thing i can mention is that when i restarted my computer and logged in a box popped up called dial up and asked me to connect to the internet.
Also my wifi is not locked and doesn't require a password, and my sisters laptop won't connect to the internet either.

    Some background might help:
    - What make/model router are you using?
    - Does your router have the latest firmware? (Check the manufacturer's support web page)
    - What security type are you using? (None, WEP, WPA, WPA2)
    - Does your router use DHCP?
    - Have you tried powering off and restarting the router?
If you are connected to the router but can't access the internet then the possibility exists that the DHCP service in your router is not giving you a local network IP address.
To check on this go to:
    *Settings > WiFi >* +your network name+
and press the ">" to the right to bring up the connection details.
Report all that you see. If the IP address starts with 169 then the router is not giving a local network IP address and you will not be able to access the internet.

  • Can we connect to any SAP system if we have connection details.

    Hi Experts,
Can we connect to any SAP system if we have connection details.
In this thread I found Diego Lombardini asking connection details.
    Needed help on this report
I am working in ABAP for couple of years but donu2019t have much idea about connection to SAP system, Please let me know how it is possible .
High points will be rewarded for any helpful answer.
    Regards
    Bikas

    Hi Bikas,
That reply is just because Diego got irritated by Ravi asking the same question in many threads many times .
Otherwise if a SAP server is not secureed using secureclient you can always connect to that SAP system using the internet and your own SAP GUI ( perhaps based on the GUI compatibility )
But i bet, nobody will reveal SAP server as open for you.

  • Internet won't connect, but I am connected to WiFi

The internet won't connect on my Ipod Touch gen3. I have had it for a while, and usually works just fine. It worked just fine yesterday, and suddenly today it wouldn't connect. I am currently using WiFi on my laptop from same connection, and it works good on here. But on my Touch when i go to Safari, it says it can't connect to the server. Even though it says it's connected to WiFi with a strong signal.
    Internet Provider: Frontier
    DSL: Linksys
    DHCP
    IP Address: 173.87.27.198
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
    Router: 173.87.24.1
    DNS: 66.133.150.12, 66.133.170.2
    HTTP Proxy: Off
    WiFi Address: D4:9A:20:A4:49:AC

The IP address starting with 169 is self-assigned and means that your router is not giving your iPod Touch an IP address via DHCP. In this condition you will not be able to access the Internet.
You might try powering down and restarting your router and see if the problem is corrected (your IP address should be something like 192.168.1.x and you should see an address for the router, DNS, etc.). Reset the network settings on your iPod before attempting to connect.
If this doesn't solve your problem test your iPod on another network (Starbucks, Borders, etc.). If it works there then you may need a new router. If it does not work on other networks your iPod may need repair.
By the way, your problem is different from the OP.

  • Ipad 2, airplay streaming and internet by 3G connection?

    Hello
How do I stream musik to my Airport Express (over Wifi), and at the same time surf the internet by my 3G connection (the only possible internet connection at my house)?
    Thanks in advance

It works perfect, as described, airpaly and surfing the internet over 3G connection! I can stream internet radio, and airplay it to my stereo now!
But it sure is annoying that this have to be done every time the airport or the ipad has been off power..?
I assume, that this can't be solved easily, since you didn't tell in the first place?
Now, that we can se that it technically is possible, I wonder if there is (or could be in time) an app out there to do it...(or do apple say that i dont need it...?..... :-/ )
Anybody tried the hotspot function, as surggested above...?
My android phone have no problem being hotspot while at the same time I surf the internet on it, so can't see why iPhone would..? (or ipad, if hotspot function where available).
But that is just me, not having to much understanding of data flow etc. in a mobile device... So forgive me if i am asking dump questions....

  • "No Internet Access" on connected device with mobile hotspot

I've been on Verizon for 2 weeks.  Note II on a Family Share Plan with lots of data.  Using the built-in Verizon Mobile Hotspot application.  Connecting from my work laptop, which is Windows 7.
Set it up and everything worked fine for a week and a half.  I had no problems connecting or accessing the internet from my laptop.  It worked fine Monday morning.  Monday afternoon my laptop started giving me the warning message "No Internet Access" when connecting to the phone's hotspot.  I'm in a 4g area where the hotspot has worked previously.  I've tried several times in several different 4g locations as time allowed over the last 2 days, and I have not been able to get to the internet on my connected laptop again.
While connected to the mobile hotspot I ran Windows troubleshooter and it tells me that there is no DHCP server available, and that the default gateway for this network is unreachable.  My laptop has no problems reaching the internet via the wireless network at work or at home.  The laptop connects to both of those wireless networks every day (both before and since this problem appeared.)
I have rebooted both the phone and the laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I renamed the hotspot, and connected to the "new" hotspot from my laptop, with no change in the problem results.  I have tried running "ipconfig /renew" from my laptop while connected, and that is when it tells me that it cannot find a DHCP server for this network.
What broke?  How can I fix it?
I'm still in the 100% refund return period on my contract and phones (for another day or so.)  This is an absolute deal-killer.  Hotspot on my phone is the single reason why I switched networks.
    * Revised 2/28:
This morning I turned on the mobile hotspot feature on my wife's Galaxy S3 (on the same Verizon Family Share Plan.)  Then I connected to it from my laptop.  When it connected it said "limited internet access" for about 30 seconds, and then that warning went away and I had full access.  I surfed for a moment to confirm, and all was working.  I turned off the GS3 hotspot and turned on the hotspot on my Note II.  When I connected to the Note II's hotspot from my laptop I still had no internet access.  I left it for 3-4 minutes, and it never switched on.  I tried surfing and got only error messages in my browser.
All of this was while sitting at my desk.  So I believe I have ruled out the laptop as a cause for this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

After I posted the above in February I talked to Verizon support.  They could not resolve the problem.  They replaced the phone, and the new phone has worked for months.  My work schedule changed a bit, and so I started using the hotspot less often.
Last week I noticed that after I connected my laptop I had a longer delay before it would change from "No Internet Access" to giving me access.  Yesterday morning it was so slow that I got the command prompt up on my laptop and determined that from the laptop's perspective the problem was that there was no DHCP server available through the hotspot network.  That morning it did eventually find the DHCP server and issue my laptop an IP address, and let me connect.
Yesterday afternoon the DHCP server never appeared, and I was not able to connect to the internet.  Same thing this morning.  I rebooted both the phone and the laptop.  No change.  The laptop connects to other wireless networks just fine, still.  This worked for months.  Why did it slow down connecting and then stop?  I'm guessing there must be some sort of buffer that has filled up.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

  • No network on reboot - Connection Details for Adapter Blank/Empty

I've been dealing with this issue for over a week now, and while extensive Internet searches have found similar situations, none exactly matched my situation, and none of the suggested fixes had any positive effects. Here's my exact situation:
    1.) System Specs:
    OS: Windows 8 Pro
CPU: 3.60 gigahertz Intel Core i7-3820
    RAM: 64GB DDR3 -1333
Disk Space: 2.6TB on 4 SSD and 2 HDD
Network Adapters: (2x) Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet
2.) On computer startup (whether cold start, warm start or "forced" reset), when I get to the lock screen, the network icon has the
dreaded "yellow triangle" overlay displayed. I can log in using my Windows Live credentials with no problems, but that same warning overlay is on the network icon in the taskbar, as well, and I have absolutely no WAN
or LAN access. Both network adapters show up in Network Connections as enabled (as opposed to disabled or "network"), and when I double-click either one (or if I right-click and select Status), I get the status popup, but it's completely empty. And
by that I mean nothing at all is displayed in the main section. In order to get my network connection up and running, I have to disable at least one of the adapters and then enable it. Once that's completed, I have both Internet and LAN connectivity, but if
I reboot for whatever reason, it all goes away, and I have to do the same dance once more.
3.) Things I've tried (not necessarily in order):
a.) uninstall/reinstall NIC drivers, using not only current, but also "next-gen" and "last-gen" versions - no help
b.) Disable or uninstall one or the other of the NIC's - also no help
c.) Disable IPv6 on one/both adapters - foolish, I know, but it was suggested, so I tried it - no help
d.) install the "original" Windows 8 native drivers - no help
e.) Created a logoff script to disable the adapters, and a startup script to enable them - no help (though manually running the same instructions from
an elevated command prompt does work, but it's faster to disable/enable them from the Network Connections window - and yes, I made sure that the shutdown/startup scripts had admin access - I
just think they were being executed at the wrong stage of the boot process)
f.) Ran SFC /scannow from an elevated command prompt - no errors found
g.) Checked the event viewer for information regarding this issue, and nothing shows up - not even "information" entries.
h.) Ran System Restore to a date/point before this first occurred - no help
Now this isn't my first rodeo with networking errors, and while I'm certainly no "IT Guru", I like to think I know my way around the tech well enough to be able to suss out the vast majority of networking issues, but
this one has me stumped. This is a reasonably new system for me, having purchased/built it back in March, but it's also a "2 generation" upgrade over the old box, so there are no "known good" replacements available to try. Also, one NIC
is built into the MoBo, while the other is in the PCIe sound card. Both came as a "package deal", and are supposedly cross-compatible with each other (ASRock assures me this is true). I also didn't bother testing the cables, routers or modem, since
this appears to be a software or driver problem, and I'm leaning heavily toward it being with the driver, somehow.
Well, that's my dilemma. I tried to be as complete as possible with the information, but as I'm only Human, I may have missed something. I'm more than happy to provide any other information that may be necessary. If anyone has any ideas about something that
I may have missed (short of a full wipe/reinstall, of course - that's just below initiating Global Meltdown on my priority list), or knows what may be causing this, I would greatly appreciate the sharing of knowledge. :)
    Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

Ok, as an update, I've tried a couple of different things, none with any permanent success, but with some interesting consequences:
1.) Using Task manager's Startup tab, I've disabled all entries listed and rebooted - no help (cards still fail to initialize)
2.) Through msconfig, I disabled all non-Microsoft services and rebooted - no help
3.) I tried both items 1 and 2 combined - also no help
4.) Rather than altering the Speed/Duplex settings on one of the network cards, I attempted to change some of the other settings (one at a time, of course) to a non-default value, and each time I met with the same result. The affected card initialized, and
connected to the internet, but a reboot again saw that card in a state of failed initialization. And it doesn't matter which network card I alter, as both individually behave in this manner.
My (tentative) conclusion at this point, given all that I've seen so far is that something "out of the ordinary" is causing this issue, and that it's entirely possible, if not likely that it's a Microsoft service or startup file that's causing this behavior.
At this point, I'm tempted to refresh my computer, but the list of installed applications on this box is huge, and it will take me several days to nearly a week to get everything reinstalled, so I'm trying to keep that back as a last resort, if at all possible.
So before I break down and do that, is there anything else that I might have missed?

  • HT1222 Since I have installed the iOS 6 I have not been able to get my Internet / wi fi connection freely ..... What can be done..... Please help

Need to know why I am not getting Internet / wi fi connection frequently and smoothly as I use to before installing Iso 6 ... Can I change back to the old system or do something about it. Thanks ...please help

    You can't downgrade the iOS.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • I'm at the end of my tether with not being able to access itunes which I could do perfectly well before! Now my laptop won't even connect to the internet despite the connection at the hub being excellent! No problem with ipad and phone - only windows!

I'm tired of this problem of not being able to access itunes on my laptop and now no internet access despite connection and strength being excellent. What are windows playing at? Worked perfectly well until recently. Very frustrating and time consuming!

Just a few lines to assure you you are not alone regarding speed delivery. By no means.
I'm on Infinity 2 with HH5 - was virtually guaranteed 63 d/l and told possibly even up to 78. My actual speeds are nearer 15 (yes 15!) to 28 d/l if I am lucky. I've played all the obligatory games of checking and posting and reviewing my HH stats - and of course wasting my time with India "help" customer services who are instructed to read from a script of inane generalities which are usually completely irrelevant and have no connection whatsoever with a user's Specific problem.
It more often than not turns out that the automated monitoring system imposes a software called DLM = Digital Line Management = which (with the endless excuse of improving line stability) increases noise margins and drastically reduces speed. This can kick in pretty rapidly and can take at least 3 to 4 days to modify itself - if indeed at all!!! Usually an Openreach engineer visit is then needed - who will re-set the Profile to what it is you are supposed to be paying for ..... then of course it is totally possible that DLM will re-emerge and the same old cycle of troubles will have to be endured.
We pay in good faith at the outset on the back of so many promises - only to be cynically let down and dismissed once signed up. It is quite wrong we have to continually argue our case to (try) to get anywhere and are always reminded that we are tied into contracts with expensive escape clauses - or that an engineer's visit is only free IF it is proved the fault is not inside your house - which it very rarely is! This is often more an Ordeal than a subscribed service. Superfast reliable Broadband in the UK ? Ha!

  • Turn off Spotify Connect

How do I disable Spotify Connect?
If I've got my tablet (iPad) running the app, I definitely don't want my phone running it and draining the battery with the app running there as well.

Hi... I have a problem with this as well - I find it incredibly annoying. For example, I was out picking up a pizza and listening to spotify in my car... When I got home my girlfriend began listening to Spotify on her cell phone - and my cell phone began playing music from it because my device was the last selected. If at all possible, I'd like there to be a feature to turn this option OFF entirely. I can't see it being logical to have this on by default. I enjoyed the option that stopped my device from playing completely when someone else was using the same account from another machine, hopefully you can bring this back because it totally makes more sense than the way it is now.
I don't like the ability with anyone who has access to the account to be able to play music on any device that has the app open as well. This can be quite embarrassing if someone accidentally clicks on your device, say, as you go into a meeting with your phone in your pocket and it begins playing "It's raining men" or something... I hope you can understand my sentiment! Again this can be fixed if you just gave us an option to turn this off entirely for any (or all) device(s).

  • ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)

    Hi again,
I'm on my enterprise management console and Database Instance and Listener shows the green arrow, but the Agent Connection to Instance shows a red downward arrow and the error:
    Status: Failed
Details: ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)
My OraClrAgnt service is up and running (using winxp pro, oracle 11gR2), I'm on my home pc, all my ports are open (my machine's name is "abigail" and it is dmzhost)
Any suggestions to resolve this error?

  • Can I set up a wifi router to receive an internet signal by connecting it to a computer?

Can I set up a wifi router to recieve an internet signal by connecting it to a computer?
It seems to me that routers are designed to connect directly to the internet by programming their firmware with connection info.
I'd like to connect a computer to the internet, then connect a router to that computer.
Essentially, I want a internet signal that comes through a computer before being made wireless. Is that possible?

To connect the computer to the Internet you still need some physical component, for example a wireless USB dongle. So if you want to have the Mac connecting to the Internet and then share this connection to other devices using wireless, then you can enable Internet Sharing on the Mac and select to share its Airport (wireless) connection to the other devices (which turns the Mac into a form of access point). Then the other wireless devices can connect to the Mac and use the Mac's Internet connection, which could be a wireless USB dongle or an Ethernet connection to a cable modem.
