DSO activation failed due to creation of the export datasource failed

hi experts,
i am activating DSO, but failed. Cause is "The creation of the export DataSource failed"
there are many threads in the forum saying restoring the BI myself source system can address it, I tried many times, but failed.
I used program RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE to activate an already activated DSO, it returned same error and the original activated DSO turned into inactivated. So I guess there must be something wrong with the setting.

As I read the system RESTORE option should resolve your issue. From RSA1 try to restore your source system and try to active your DSO again.

Seems that there are one or more characteristics in the ODS for which one or more attributes may be new or inactive.
Please see SAP Note 597326..Pasting the content below..Solution steps are also given..
Symptom
When you activate or transport ODS objects, the following errors appear in the log:
"The creation of the export DataSource failed". Message number RSBM 035
"Error &1 in function module &2". Message number RSBM 006
"Error when creating the export DataSource and dependent Objects". Message number RSDODSO 169
"Error when activating the ODS object &1". Message number RSDODSO 168
Other terms
RSBM 035, RSBM 006, RSDODSO 169, RSDODSO 168
Reason and Prerequisites
A characteristic involved is active but it is using new or inactive attributes.
Characteristics involved are all characteristics used in the ODS object.
Solution
Check all characteristics involved as described in the following:
Check the Compounding and Attributes tabs in the characteristics maintenance.
All characteristics here must be active. This is displayed by a green icon.
If this is not the case for a characteristic involved (a gray icon is displayed on one of the two tabs), activate the characteristic involved. This also activates the inactive dependent characteristics.
After you have checked and repaired all the characteristics involved as described above, the loading/maintenance of master data should work again.

Transport Error-The creation of the export DataSource failed

Hi Experts,
I am transporting a DSO from DEV to QA in 7.0 system.While transporting the DSo i am getting the below mentioned error.

Reading the Metadata of APMD0009 ...
Creating DataSource 8APMD0009 ...
Password logon no longer possible - too many failed attempts

the request conatins just the DSO and not the Export datsource.i have also tried exporting both together still it failed.
I have referred OSS note No.597326 for the same.But it didnt helped in resolving the issue.
Has any one come across this kind of an issue.

DSO Activations failed due to No active export DS

Hi Expert,
The DSO loads with no problem, but the Activate step fails with error message "No active export DS (DS:**,LS:**) for DSO ***. Activity canceled"
We solved the issue by running this abap program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL..
But still missing the root cause for issue .
I am having this problem for several DSOs in several different chains.

Generating Export DataSources for InfoProviders
The export DataSource is needed to transfer data from a source BI system into a target BI system. The user can use the selected InfoProvider as a DataSource for another BI system.
1. In the Data Warehousing Workbench in the BI source system, choose Modeling and select the InfoProvider tree.
2. Generate the export DataSource using the context menu of the user InfoProvider.
To do this, choose Additional Functions -> Generate Export DataSource.
The technical name of the export DataSource is made up of the number 8 together with the name of the InfoProvider.
The export DataSource is needed to transfer data from a source BI system into a target BI system. The user can generate an export DataSource for master data, and thus for individual InfoObjects. By doing this, all the metadata is created that is required to extract master data (all attributes, texts, and hierarchies) from an InfoObject.

DSO Activation Fails after adding navigational attribute

hi Gurus
I have created a object A using Object B as reference and added Object A into Object C as navigation attribute.
Now my object D which is referenced to Object C also has this object A as attribute and i change to navigational attribute here.
When i try to turn on nav. attribute check box in DSO then DSO activation fails (Error - DS Object Object D__Object A (Master data check) does not exist} and therefore i cant add it as free char. in report. Though i am getting the data in report if i keep dnt turn on nav. attribute option in DSO and activate it.

Make sure your object A has master data check box checked. For this your referenced object B should have master data check.

trying to activate ods but getting this message that the creation of the export data source failed.
and it also gives message that RFC Connection to source system is damaged===> no metadata upload

Hi,
Check ur source system connection. by going to RSA1-> Source System-> right click and then select check.
U will get the info about the source system Connection. IF RFC has failed then better be in touch with ur basis.
Or try restoring ur source system connection by
Source system-> Restore.
Its sets all the default conenctions b/n ur systems.
Once again check the connection now. if it says ok.. then try do the export data source and then assign the data source to info source and then maintain the Update rules..

 When I try to transport ODS from dev to quality i m getting the following error.
DataSource 8XADDR1 does not exist in source system BQ1CLNT355 of version A
Error when creating the export DataSource and dependent Objects
Error when activating ODS Object XADDR1

 XADDR1 is my ODS. BQ1CLNT355 is myself source system. When i checked the connection in the source system tab in Quality,it is ok.
Please Suggest solution,if any body encountered same problem. It is very urgent for me.

Replicate your source system in qual and then try to transport the ODS and the datamart object 8ODS ....

Function module names to delete the Export Datasource

Hi Experts,
Can anyone please let me know what function modules are while deleting the export datasource. So far in my research i have found only
RSB1_DELETE_EXPORT_DATASOURCE. -- This fm does not deletes the export datasource, I want to know which fm is used exactly to delete the datasources.
To delete the virtual infocubes, the fm used is RSDG_CUBE_DELETE. Similarly there must be a fm to delete the export datasource.

I hope there is no specific function module to delete the entries ( as of version 4.0). So you need to code a delete statement to perform the task.

DSO Activation failed

HI,
Process step dso activation is failed due to Runtime error...I Checked in JOB Log it says ABAP/4 Processor : MESSAGE_TYPE_X and job is cancelled. So i went to ST@@ Tcode and released the dump. and again repeated the failed step.then it again failed due to same.Please tell me how to fix this issue.

Zero elimination into the export datasource

Hi gurus!
I have the following problem:
1) In the Infocube 1 I have a export datasource and this provider receives data from a FLAT FILE;
2) In this FLAT FILE I have 19 records. One of them has all key figures as zero value;
3) When I load this FLAT FILE into the Infocube 1 receives all records (total of 19);
4) I have the Infocube 2 that receives data from Infocube 1 (via export datasource);
5) When I load data from Infocube 1 to Infocube 2, I miss the record with all KF as zero value. I receive only 18 records.
Does anybody know what is happening?
Note: This behavios is like the zero-elimination on compress data.

check if your record exist in your Source ICube.
If yes (and you don't filter your extraction) then the extractor is not considering the records having all key figs = 0.
If not then then check whether you have routines having RETURNCODE <> 0 in TRules or URules...

I am facing this issue from last 1 week.. i had developed an ODS cube in APO-DP BW which will fetch data from SAP R/3 and its working fine in APO Dev Server. But when i transport this cube into APO PAC(Prodn Server) the below error i am getting..

Hi AJ,
Looking at your error, it seems that the RFC user's password is locked and hence connectivity from R/3 towards APO BW is broken.
You know the name of your export datasource (from R/3 to APO BW). Find out the name of your R/3 source system e.g. PACCLT000, by scrolling to the right against teh export data source.
Take help of your Basis or EAI team to identify the RFC destination corresponding to the connectivity from the R/3 source system (PACCLT000) to your APO BW system. (If needed ask for help from your BW team, I am not very sure how connectivity would be set up from R/3 to APO BW, I guess this would be independent from CIF connectivity)
For this RFC connection from R/3 to APO BW, see which RFC user is maintained in SM59 in APO and ask your security team to reset (or unlock) the password of this RFC user in R/3, and then if required update the user password details in SM59 in APO also.
After this, your issue should get resolved.

DSO Activation error in SAP BI 7.0

I am trying to activate a DSO which is created by me in SAP BI7.0.When I save the DSO it didn't placed any error even when I clicked Check it dispalyed as consistent.But When I clicked activate it placed an error saying the DSO cannot be actvated.

I have tried to check the RFC connection in SM59 but I didn't find anything.If we need to create an RFC connection then please let me know the steps.This activation of DSO is very important as it is stopping all the work.Please suggest me what Steps need to be taken now as this is very important.

in SM59 double click your XYZ destination,might have to correct the IP address in SM59
perform a "test connection"
if not fine then check the target host, system number and name/ip and modify them accordingly; don't forget that this is MyBW system you have to maintain actually your XYZ host details.
if the test went through, the next is to test authorizations: menu test, authorizations. Check tab logon/security settings; you should use ALE as user... you need to know this pwd if you change it!. Check if this user is not locked.

Hello,
This is the problem becos the system is unable to create DATAMART for DSO object. The following reasons might be hindering the creation of DSO. Please check whether
1) You have proper authorization to create Datasource/Datamarts.
2) If so then, check whether DATAMART for the BW Self Source System is properly Installed from Business Content. (I hope you are working on the version 3.5 or later.. here we need to manually install Aplication Component related to Datamart from Business Content so that Datamart creation never fails after that)
3) Also check BW Self Source System is properly functioning.
