DST 2007 changes and Oracle9iAS

Friends
Do anyone know if there is any requirement to apply any patch on Oracle 9i Application server (9.0.2).
We already have our OS, Oracle 9i database and database JVM patched for DST changes.
Thanks

Vishal,
We are also on 9iAS R2 and have the default oracle 9.0.1.4 Database on the infrastructure. You need to basically check for
1. Do you have any user defined TSTZ and TSLTZ types.
2. Do you use TSTZ or TSLTZ types or the TZ_OFFSET functions any where
3. Do a searchon Time Zone in all our pl/sql code and column names and did you find any thing??
If answers are NO ....You don't need any patches...
On the server side ...You just need to update the environment file
and check for
1. echo $TZ
YOU SHOULD GET BACK THE SETTING YOU DID IN THE ENVIRONMENT FILE ..
2. JDK patches are available with IBM

  • J2EE upgrade to accommodate DST 2007 changes

    Hi,
We are running EP 6.0 SP2P4 on J2EE 6.2. When accommodating DST 2007 changes, we found out as per the note 983147:
The 6.20 J2EE Engine is based on JDK 1.3 and is out of support end of 2006. Therefore no fix will be provided for this JDK version. So all customers running on 6.20 J2EE Engine must switch to higher versions before march 2007.
Thus you have to 1) switch to 6.40 and 2)have jdk version 1.4.2_11 or
higher to have the automatic fix of Daylight savings.
HELP! - If you can provide some pointers to any documentation on how to upgrade this, or if there is any workaround, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!
    Nirmal

    Hello Nirmal,
Please read the upgrade documentation that you can find in the following path:
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Netweaver -> SAP Netweaver 2004 (or SAP Netweaver 2004s) -> Upgrade
And about the minimum JDK version to use, you will find information in the SAP Note below:
       723909 Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0
Inside this note you will find the notes for each Operating System. This notes tell you what is the minimum version to use depending on the Operating System used.

  • Solaris 10 - patch for new DST 2007 changes

I am trying to track down the one patch I need for the new standard for daylight savings time date changes that took effect in 2007. Each time I get one patch and read the readme file, it tells me I need another patch for the U.S. Energy Policy Act for 2005. I am just about to install Solaris 10 patch 119689-07. I don't need any other patch updates, just the bare minimum new DST patch. Thanks for your help.

    119689-07 is obsoleted by 118836. http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-119689-07-1
118836-36 is latest rev of this patch -- the kernel patch, whic has latest timezone data for the OS
You'll need to make sure java has latest tz data, too:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/timezones/
As far as I know, these are the bare minimums for a system to function properly re: latest DST schedule

  • DST Patch Prerequisites and Software Updates

Mixed environment with PowerMac G5 PPC that are running Tiger 10.4.2 and some 10.4.6. Want to make sure that these machines are updated correctly with the Daylight Saving Time changes in 2007 without impacting customers.
Will have to be accomplished manually, (still in the process of obtaining Apple Remote Desktop)
Would probably prefer manual updates at this time due to Prerequisites and without impacting production.
Questions are mixed and confirmation is needed:
    # 1) Apple is indicating that the Daylight Saving Time Update (Tiger)Post Date: February 15, 2007, has a system requirement Mac OS X 10.4.8 (Client or Server). Does this mean that OSX needs to be updated to v 10.4.8 in order for the manual DST patch to work?
    # 2) Seems to be a contradiction regarding if the DST patch is and was implemented with various updates up to 10.4.8. Again according to Apple the DST rule changes for the United States and most of Canada are already available in Mac OS X 10.4.5 or later. Since I have around 70% of PPC already updated to 10.4.6 is the DST needed?
    # 3) The remaining G5 PPC that currently are running 10.4.2 based on above will have to be updated with the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) I am pretty nervous based on this update being successful, even with permission repair prior to update etc....
    The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update (combo) updates Mac OS X 10.4, 10.4.1, 10.4.2, 10.4.3, 10.4.4, 10.4.5, 10.4.6, or 10.4.7 to version 10.4.8 on both Intel-based Macs and PowerPC-based Macs.
    # 4) Do all current Tiger OS version need to be updated to 10.4.8 to assure that DST patch is installed?
Confirmation - Information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Mixed PPC 10.4.2 & 10.4.6
    PowerMac G5 2.5 Mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Brian--
Since the 10.4.6 update as you indicate above fixes
the DST problem for US locations that affects my
    customers
(We are in the US) and our time zone. There would be
no reason to update these machines to 10.4.8 since
they already are updated to 10.4.6 and addresses my
immediate concern which is the DST issue.
Well, if you only deal with local time on your computers, it probably won't make a difference. It's when you're trying to calculate times in different time zones where the times could get off. So email headers and downloaded files might have strange time stamps off by an hour in some cases. Those are the kinds of non-obvious activities that could be affected.
" Updating to 10.4.8 alone won't do it, obviously,
    you'd need the DST patch"
Now I am really confused since this URL and your
comments contradict this documentation for Apple. If
having the 10.4.6 version of Tiger and it already has
the DST patch why are you saying that 10.4.8 alone
    won't do it??
Well, there are really two issues: Apple updated the US time zone files and most of Canada in 10.4.5. So if you update to 10.4.5 or later, you'd get these changes. However, one location that didn't get updated was Vancouver. You can check it from the Terminal app like this:
    <pre class="command">zdump -v /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver | grep 2007</pre>If you have 10.4.8 with the extra DST update, you'll see the following:
    <pre class="command">/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 09:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 PST isdst=0
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Mar 11 10:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 PDT isdst=1
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 08:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 PDT isdst=1
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver Sun Nov 4 09:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 PST isdst=0</pre>If you just have 10.4.5 or later, but no DST update, the spring times will be three weeks later (Apr 1, I think), and the fall ones will be a week earlier. And it's the same for a few other locations and time zones in Canada and around the world.
Maybe I am reading into this but there seems to be
    conflicting documentation here.
Well, I can see where that page might be kind of confusing, but, in a nutshell, it says that if you have 10.4.5 or later, you have some, but not all, of the DST changes for 2007 installed on your system. If you follow the link at the end of the Mac OS X 10.4 and Mac OS X Server 10.4 Tiger section, it links to a page that has a bit more information on the February 2007 DST update. That update has all the changes as of January 8, 2007.

  • Outlook 2007 conduits and Windows 7

I'm attempting to sync my Palm V to Outlook 2007 before abandoning the old guy. I've had it for 10 years, it's served me perfectly well, but laptops just don't have serial ports any more and it's probably time to move on.
I've downloaded the Outlook 2007 conduits and installed them (running the exe as Administrator, just in case). It says that the installation is successful, but I see no evidence of it, and the instructions don't really tell me what to look for. I assume that I'll see something different either in the HotSync conduit list or in the options when I choose Change, but I see neither. Synching just continues to sync the Palm Desktop. The machine has been rebooted.
This is the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate, Palm Desktop 4.1.4, and Outlook 2007 from the Office Enterprise package. Any help anyone can give me would be very appreciated - losing this data would be like losing old diaries.
    Post relates to: Palm V

    Hi
You can journal your mail and have a 3rd party vendor archive your mail like symantec etc.
PST files bigger than 2GB will cause issues.
You can set an exclusion on that folder so its not scanned.

    Hi All,
STZBC table need to be updated correctly for DST Brazil Change.
I see two options to change it:
    1) Create a new line for 2009 in STZBC -> Variable time zone rule in DT1 and create the transport
    2) Apply SAP Note 198411 (attached) in DT1 and create the transport
I have have concern for daylight saving as according to Note 1251372 there is no standard daylight saving time in brazil .
this note mention daylight saving for  2008/2009 (i,e daylight saving time in Brazil begins on October 19, 2008 and ends on February 15, 2009.) and this note is the latest note available.
what would be daylight saving time in brazil for year 2009/2010? should i need to raise message to SAP asking for any new note applicable to daylight saving?

  • Difference between SAP-CRM 2007 UI and previous version UI.

    hi,
anyone knows the differences difference between SAP-CRM 2007 UI and previous version UI.
anykind of links or files are helpful.
    regards.
    raman.

    Hi,
actually quite a late response and I think all the rather technically focuses comments have already been given, incl. the link to a really good slide deck, that explains all the technical architecture details on what exactly we did.
From an end user perspective some other statements on what we did:
    (1) From an information architecture and visualization perspective we acted based on feedback from our customers in the last years, which led to some restructuring of the screen, e.g. moving the navigation bar from the top area of the screen (horizontal) to the left hand side --> sounds simple but users tend to have problem seeing thing at the top of the screen. We also decided to arrange the information for e.g. an account or an opportunity not in a tab oriented format. Again usability tests in CRM had shown that users often find it hard to see and understand that tabs contain additional information. We now show the details in assignment blocks below the header information in a scrollable format. Vertical scrolling is a behavior of a screen that most users know from their internet experience. Those are just two exampels of what we did in this area
    (2) We also have put a large focus on well known web behaviors, like drag & drop and personalization in general, knowing that on the one hand side, no matter what standard UI we deliver, users tend to adapt it exactly based on their needs and wishes. So you will find really easy to understand personalization options everywhere in the new CRM Web Client UI. To achieve this we used lots of web 2.0 techologies that enable especially these easy interactive capabilitites.
    (3) Finally, and this relates directly to the arguments mentioned in (2) we focused as well on really easy UI configuration. Again, in every customer project user interface changes are made, to adapt the SAP default to the customers needs. here we invested a lot to make the 60-80% most common UI changes done in projects as easy as possible, that even non-technical people can generally do it (like Power users).
Hope this clarifies some arguments what from the users point of view has been done and what the advantages are.
When you follow the same link as mentioned by Nadine above, you can also find a presentation UI Concept, which explains all the details rather from a users perspective.
Best regards and enjoy the new UI ..and every feedback is very much welcome, only with your feedback we can improve the solution even more.

  • Is J2SE 5.0 update 6 or 7 DST 2007 compliant?

This website states J2SE 5.0 update 6 or later is compliant:

Whereas this website states J2SE 5.0 update 7 and later is compliant with the new DST 2007 rules.

Does anyone know how to tell if update 6 is compliant? If there's no way to tell, can I use the tzupdater tool against 5.0u6 anyway w/out any bad consequences?

  • DST time change for global companies

We are curious to hear how other companies are handling the DST time changes in spring and fall especially if they are global and operating in multiple time zones.
Do you set servers to UTC/GMT?
And set SAP systems to UTC?
And let users set their local time zone?
Would that mean we don't have to worry about the fall and spring time change any more because UTC doesn't change? (That would be nice!)
    TIA,
    Margie

    Hi Volker,
these "right setting" makes me unconfident.
note 7417 tells me that that better shut down the system because the majority of the applications are not certified for a continued operation
note 102088 tells me how to minimize the downtime to one hour... these is the procedure we were using the last years
note 950114 tells me how to avoid the double hour by using zdate/DSTswitch_contloctime (=on you need not to shut down the system)
note 391658 tells me "If you are converting from summer time to winter time, shut down all SAP instances before the scheduled conversion (for example, at 01:30) and wait at least an hour before you restart them."
Your experience to let the systems run was quite good, but it is dissapoints me that SAP does not give a distinct statement about the DST. As mentioned befor, it is not practicable to shut down the SAP system in a global environment.

  • Difference between alarming roc:change and alarming roc:rocchange in DSC module

What is the difference between the Alarming ROC:Change and the Alarming ROC:ROCChange in the DSC Module (and the Alarming ROC:Time and Alarming ROC:ROCTime)??  I am trying to change the rate of change and the time on the variable using property nodes and invoke nodes, which I have done successfully with the Hi alarm and low alarms.
Using the property nodes, I can only find a way to change the ROC:change and not the ROC:ROCChange.  The ROC:ROCChange is what appears to change the rate of change and time interval that the variable actually uses (looking under the multiple varibale editor).
So I am changing some values, but they are not reflected on the Alarming page of the editor, only show up in the large spreedsheet at the top.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong??
    Kenny

    Hi Kenny,
Thanks for the observation -- it looks like this is a bug dealing with the naming of the property by the property node.  This was reported to R&D (# 46IE9SG0) for further investigation.  A workaround is to deploy a library so it become an online process, then use the SharedVariableIO class to programmatically change the desired properties, then use the Save to Library VI that ships with the DSC module.  The following screenshot shows the two methods, the upper method is the workaround (note that you don't need to read back the property like in the screenshot, I was just testing), the lower method is the way that isn't working for these two properties, which doesn't use the online process.  Thanks for the feedback!

  • Consolidation Group Change and Consolidation Activity

    Hi Experts,
I am new in SAP consolidation, I have a question regarding the difference between the function "consolidation group change" and "consolidation activity".
If I read in the sap library, these 2 functions are separated, but if I look at the content, I saw some similarity where the consolidation group change also included the investment activity like acquisition and divestiture.
Could anyone explain what are the difference between these 2 function?
When I was a user, if the group acquiered a new cons unit, I just add a new cons unit in the consolidation group hierarchy, assign consolidation method, add the additional financial data for the ownership percentage (activity = first consolidation), enter the reported financial data, run CI function and add one more column in my report painter.
When I read SAP library, I saw the "consolidation group change" function talking about the consolidation activity, now I wonder, what are the difference? What is the business scenario for using the "normal" CI activity and the "consolidation group change"? Please anyone advise. Thank you.
    regards,

Normal C/I is a regular acquisition or divestiture.  Cons Group Change could be movement of a company from one consolidation group to another (i.e., parent A sells company 1 to parent B).  Or you own a company 20% and purchase an additional 60% and must switch accounting technique from Equity to Purchase.  BCS will need to book Cons Group Change entries to account for the acct technique change.  (In the past, at 20%, you would only book equity pickup, or equitization entries, to the parent as PL30 adjustments in the CoI.  Now you must bring in the complete balances of the company due to purchase method of consolidation.  BCS books consolidation-group specific adjustments to do this.)
    Example....
    "Normal C/I activity"
New company A needs be consolidated in Cons Group 1 starting in 03/2007.  Add the company to the Cons Group master data, set the accounting technique, update additional financial data w/ activity First consolidation and load data for the new company.  Run COI
    "Cons Group Change"
Company A is consolidated in Cons Group 1, but starting in 06/2007 they will be sold to a parent in Cons Group 2.  Update the Cons Group master data...setting company A to divest in 06/2007 from CG1 and to First Consolidate in CG2 starting in 06/2007.  If using Org Change logic, create an Org Change number and define a sender/receiver relationship for CG1 --> CG2.  In additional financial data, create a total transfer activity w/ org change logic from CG1 to CG2.  Run Org Change task and BCS will zero out balance sheet related to company A in CG1 on posting level 02/12/22.  In CG2, similar postings will book "catch up" entries in 06/2007 to bring full balance sheet into CG2.  In CoI, company will be transferred to new parent.
    Hopefully that makes sense...
    Chris
