DST changing

Database - 10.2.0.3 Two node RAC
Storage - ASM
OS - AIX 5.3L
We have DST enabled at OS level on both the nodes in RAC enviornment, because of which server timigs have gone one hour behind IST (Indian Standard Time). So we need to remove DST settings from OS level and bring server timings at IST. Kindly guide us in taking precautionary steps in doing this activity.
Thanks in advance
Amit

From CRS/RAC perspective, actually nothing in particular, other than making sure that timings on both the nodes are same(sync'd).
Thanks

  • Why did DST change fail on iPad but work on iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 4, both running 8.1.  Both devices are on AT&T data plans and seem to be working just fine except for this one annoying difference. I was in Central TZ (Austin, TX) during the DST change over but am now back in EST.
My iPhone saw the change immediately and corrected itself to the proper DST time.  My iPad still is an hour off and continues to ignore the DST change.  Both devices have been on multiple cell networks across TX, NC and VA as well as multiple wireless networks during that time.  Phone is right, iPad is not.

    Hello,
We are approaching this time of the year again...
I would like to redirect you to the Support Note 1370083.1 "Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS), Time Zones, and DayLight Saving Time (DST) Changes"
This note lists what is to be expected from WebLogic Server regarding this time change period, in terms of behavior, both for the engine and the applications deployed onto WLS.

  • Certain scheduled tasks do not run anymore after DST change

    Hi everyone,
I noticed a problem on Server 2012 after daylight savings time was set effective last weekend in March. All scheduled tasks that are configured to run weekly on Monday through Friday don't run anymore! Tasks that are configured to run daily are OK. Shall
I really put a wrapper script around the executable to check the weekday myself??? Another solution to work around this bug seems to be to set the start day after DST change day, then the weekly Jobs also run OK again.
    Many Greetings
    Michael

We have experienced the same issues.  Just to put some more information out there (and confirm some points from above):
We run 12 scheduled tasks on 2 servers.
Machines are "Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard", ver. 6.2.9200 build 9200, HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8
4 scheduled tasks did fine over the DST switch in March
8 scheduled tasks failed to run
All scheduled tasks that ran were set up with
“Configure For” = “Windows Server 2012”
All scheduled tasks that failed were set up with
    “Configure For” = “Windows Vista™, Windows Server™
    2008”.
All scheduled tasks, both affected and unaffected, were scheduled as Weekly, Mon-Fri.
Changing the "Configure For" field after the tasks failed to run did NOT fix the problem.
Changing the time of a task after the task failed to run did NOT fix the problem
Changing the "Start" date of a task after it failed to run DID fix the problem.
Given that there are not a whole ton more complaints out on the web about this bug, it must be that the bug does not affect every instance of the scheduler on Windows Server 2012.  In other words, it must be only some particular configuration
of Windows Server 2012 that causes this bug, otherwise surely there would be many many more complaints.  Can people who are experiencing this bug check and post configuration info so perhaps we can determine a common factor?  Thanks.

  • Need help to manage DST change in ICM

    Hi
We have call centers in all regions and central controller is located in Europe with CET timezone .Do we have any option to manage DST change without modifying Routing script every time/
If we create admin script to store time with DST change to memory variable  and check that variable's value in routing script , does it work?
Please share if anyone have better idea to fix this  .
    Regards
    Renni john

We are looking for a better solution to this as well. Our routers are in California and we have call centers in Europe. The DST issue is compounded by the fact that the two continents observe DST changover on different dates.
Right now we create admin scripts with four different time checks:
    1) When both are on Standard Time
    2) When the US has changed to DST but Europe has not
    3) When both are on DST
    4) When the US has moved back to Standard Time and Europe has not.
These scripts are monstrosities and require a lot of maintenance because DST dates change every year. It also creates more possible points of failure (or human error). We would like to have "TimeZone" switch that establishes a time zone for the admin script. I saw somewhere that UCCX has this. Why not UCCE?

  • Day of DST change

    Hi,
is there an easy way to tell what date the DST change for any given TimeZone will occure?
    Thanks,
    Olav

Depends what you mean by "easy". I would create a GregorianCalendar object and run a loop that adds one day to it and then checks if 24 hours were added. If 23 or 25 hours were added instead, there you are.

    Hi
Can anyone give a link to already discussed topic i.e. about DST changes in this forum?
If not can some expert put on their views on DST changes.
In brief if I apply Patches for latest changes in DST....then I have some queries..
    1. How can I uninstall if required, the applied patch
    2. How can I test the applied Patch.

  • Solaris 8 United states DST changes - patch 109809-03 and 108993-56

    Setup:
    - I am using solaris 8 server

BTW my previous post had a problem. To test DST I set the time by running:

  • Tasks Run 1 Hour Late after DST Change

I'm running Apple Remote Desktop 3.1 on an iMac to control 52 other iMacs. I have about 30 scheduled tasks that run throughout the week.
Since the Daylight Saving Time change, all of the tasks run an hour late.
All of the computers (admin and client) are running Mac OS X 10.4.9 and have the DST update installed. All computer clocks are set to the correct time and the correct time zone (MDT) and are set via Apple's server. I have verified and even rescheduled the time on most of the tasks, yet they continue to execute one hour behind schedule.
    Anyone have a fix?
PowerBook G4 Ultimate 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Palm Treo 650, Product (red) iPod nano

I thought the same thing about January - I have a few daily tasks that originated in January of this year. However, even after repeatedly resetting the time - and date - my tasks are still an hour off. I just tested one: while my ARD admin machine's clock read 4:15pm I tried to schedule the task for today at 3:15pm. 3:15 didn't work, but 3:16pm did. For the moment I've just moved all my times forward one hour.
Annoying, but I don't have a better solution. April 1st is when the time was supposed to change; perhaps everything will return to normal then.

  • Australia 2008 Daylight Savings Time DST Changes

Lasy year some Australian states changed the Date that DST is ended, from 30th March to the 6th of April:
    See for details: http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/lawlink/cru/ll_cru.nsf/pages/cru_daylightsaving
I can find patches for the 2006 change made to accomodate the commonwealth games, but can not find patches for the changes that come in to effect 2007-2008.
Anyone know where these can be found (I assume they exist).
    Thanks in advance,

The JDK download page has a timezone updater that you can download. Each new Java version contains updates to the tz rules, your version may already include what you want.

  • U.S DST change in 2007

I am using Java 1.3.1_02 in my application running on Solaris 8. I have been searching around to determine if there is a patch/upgrade available for this version of Java to handle the U.S DST time change in 2007.
I could find info on an Australian summer time change handled in 1.3.1_18, but I am not sure if this fixes the U.S time change in 2007.
I know there is a Solaris patch available, but is there a patch/upgrade from Sun for Java 1.3.1_02.

Its quite the kludge, but here's what I did on the 2.5.1 box we have.
I installed patch 103834-01. Its a timezone fix for Brazil or some such from 1997.
It also includes the "newer" version of zic, which will actually compile the TZ files.
I was then able to compile the new timezones just like I was able to on 2.6 and Sol7.
    Ugly? Yes. Workable? Absolutely.

  • Message on Put after DST change

I noticed a new "feature" in DW8 last November and again this
month. DW warns that the remote file has changed since the last get
or put operation. Nice feature except someone forgot to factor time
changes due to daylight savings into the comparison. Almost every
file I upload results in this warning so that I would probably miss
a legitimate change if one occurred. I can't find a way to change
the preferences for this. Is there a way to eliminate the warning?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    [file]timezlrg_2.dat [version] 2
The TZ for the database needs an update. Version 2 does not have the 2005 DST rules, it should be set to a minimum of version 4 to have at least the 2005 zone updates. Setting the instance timezone file is a separate step, see MOS note 977512.1.
For 11gR2, the updated files are all there. But you must pick one.

  • DST changes impact on third party java applications

Currently we are running the following versions...
    O\S Windows Server 2003
    JRE 1.4.2_11
    JDK 1.4.2_11
Should the JRE \ JDK be patched with tzupdater utility in case of running the third party java application?

You don't have to apply tzupdater tool.
Already JDK1.4.2.11 have the updated DST Time Zone Entries.

  • New US DST change

    Hi All
We are on a Oracle Applications 10.7 ,the database verion is 8.1.7.4 .
With regards to the new change in the US Daylight Savings time, is there something on the APPS side that we should be worried about apart from the setting the system time which can be done via a patch.
For example, how about the concurrent program schedular, we have a number of such jobs which are scheduled to run at particular times of the day, will this lead to any problems, I am assuming this is jsut based on the system time so setting the DB time should suffice.
Also, if you can think of anything else, please let me know, we cannot ask for a patch for the 10.7 since Oracle has stopped supporting it.
    So please advise.
    thanks

Actually, since you're on version 8.1.7.4 of the database, you shouldn't even need a patch on the database, since Oracle 8 doesn't use the various timezone-related datatypes. That would imply that the other components of the Apps environment would also not need to be patched...if they can't feed timezone-related data to the database, why would they care about timezone themselves? :-) One possible exception to this would be the JDK. I suspect that you could get away with patching the OS and, if applicable, the JDK, and be able to leave the other components of Apps alone.
Disclaimer: My experience with Oracle Apps does not extend as far back as version 10.7, so I may be making bad assumptions. If you are maintaining any sort of support relationship with Oracle at all, even if you're running a desupported version of Oracle Apps, I strongly suggest contacting them with your question. Even if they can't provide you with patches, they might be able to provide peace of mind (by telling you that you don't need to do more than patch the OS) or suggest workarounds.
