DST(Daylight Savings) and EBS

Hi all
I'm running 11.5.10.2 in Australia and Daylight Savings will be finished this Sunday.
All the patches for DST have been applied on database, APPS as well.
I'm just wondering if there are more to do in APPS
such as bouncing Concurrent managers or Application Services, update profile options etc
Can anyone tell me about it?
Thanx in advance

Hi;
AFAIK if you prepared your db than you dont need to do something on apps tier, by the way what is your db version?Do you use ADI?

  • Daylight savings and time zone

Hi. Working on an 8i database I need to determine in a function what is the current time zone, and if daylight savings time is running. I need to pass back how many hours to adjust. Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks.

I have finally found the solution!!! My account is set up as an Administrator, yet for some reason Illustrator was not opening with Adminsitrator permissions. I have to go into my startup menu, right click on Illustrator, and open as an administrator. Suddenly, everything works faster, smoother, and properly! I don't understand the reason behind this, but at least it is working proper now.

  • Daylight savings and backup exec

I haven't had this problem before, the OS and patching hasn't changed,
here are the configurations and symptoms.
OS platform is NW 6.5 OES SP6. Running the time command shows the
correct time. However the Symantec Backup exec software 9.2 rev 1391 is
exactly 1 hour behind. This stems from daylight savings. The backup
software resides on a cluster node but is not cluster enabled. The node
and software have been restarted but the time is still incorrect.
This is a very strange behavior, has anyone felt this sting?
    Cheers,
    CB

  • Time change for daylight savings and Alarms not working correctly

we have 3 iPhones in our house. 2 were set to auto time change for daylight saving and one wasn't. 1 did the auto time change with out an issue and all alarms worked ok. The other 2 have had issues with not been able to set the alarms ie set alarm for 0630 and it goes off at 0530 even though the time is set correctly. The 1 that was set to autotime worked fine until I switch auto time off, now the alarms on this one wont work either. well they work but just at the wrong time. The 3rd phone will allow alarms to be set, but the alarm will go off an hour earlier and this phone will not allow the alarm to be set for 0630 at all.
Has anyone had this issue and resolved it. It makes getting up for shift work a right pain..

  • Daylight savings and DBMS Jobs

I have this Shop Floor Control application that depends on a
cyclic job running 10secs. I am really worried that this job
might not run for 1 hour during the time change on Sunday
Morning. (We run our servers on N/York time).
The obvious solution is to wake up in the night to manually
reschedule the job. But does anyone know if Oracle has a built-
    in to handle this?

Same problem here in Switzerland. I sync via iTunes from Outlook to iPhone, and all time are one hour wrong since a few days.

  • Time Zone/Daylight Savings Conflict between Windows 7 and Illustrator CS6

When Daylight Savings did its change this spring I started having problems saving files in Illustrator. I will go to save files, mainly .eps format, and it crashes Illustrator. I have changed my time zone to a zone that has not switched yet due to Daylight savings, and it works. Unfortunately as I find a new time zone, it also ends up hitting Daylight Savings, and I am back to square one. I have been searching both the Adobe site and the Windows site to find an answer to my problem, but am having no luck.
    My proper time zone is
(UTC-07:00) Mountain Time (US & Canada)
I have even tried using Saskatchewan as they do not follow Daylight Savings, but it also creates crashes. I have tried many other time zones, the two that have worked so far are
(UTC-06:00) Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey (worked for a little while but a time change a few weeks later messed it up)
(UTC) Casablanca (working on this time zone now, but an alert on my computer says time change coming up on the 28th)
Does anyone know if there is a fix to this problem? I feel like I am running out of time, as I am not sure how many more time zones will work.

  • No sleep after installing recent java, daylight savings & security updates

After installing the recent java, daylight savings, and the security update, my computer would crash and upon startup would act funny showing a b&W screen with typewriter type asking me to keyboard in directions ie. "shut-down".
I was able to reset the PMU and now it will not sleep on it's own, and when I send it to sleep, it wakes up after a few minutes.

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
First, read things in Apple doc.#25801 on sleep settings.
Here is Apple doc.#303698 with their tips.
    Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to recieve faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Recieve Faxes On This Computer box.
If that does'nt work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.
    Hope this helps!
    P.S. One member here reported this (Michael Gleason);
"I have had this problem with my IMac G5. It is surprisingly irritating. LaCie's Silverkeeper backup software was the cause. By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"
Dave Hamilton provided this link, xlr8yourmac.com, to a member, which addresses failure of deep sleep with some users that updated and added new FireWire and USB cards.
tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
    Cheers!

  • IdM Scheduler and Time Change to Daylight Savings Time GMT to BST

This isn't really a 'question' , but just a topic for discussion.
We're not live yet, but will be by the time the clocks go back. So I'm just interest to hear everyone's experiences and any issues with regards to the switching to / from DST
I did some "interesting" (or not) tests last night to see what happens with Pending Values which are due to take effect at the time change threshold of 01:00 GMT when switching to Daylight Savings Time (BST) GMT +0100.
It seems as if the IdM scheduler keeps going according to UTC or GMT. However any values provisioned to target systems or to local tables using the ddm.datetime8601 system variable are in local time according to the runtime server or SQL server's locale settings.
I set up a task to output from a javascript the current system date
using the following in the functions.
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toString(); // returns Locale Time String
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toUTCString(); // returns UTC Time String
in the same pass I also output the ddm.datetime8601 system parameter and the ddm.time24 system parameter.
This task was to update a comment on an entry and Scheduled to run at 00:00:00 and was executed at 00:00:06 GMT all times were still in GMT as expected.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 00:00:06 GMT-0000 (GMT) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 00:00:06 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T00:00:06, ddm.time24: 00:00:06
This task was scheduled at 01:00:00 in IdM and was exectued at 01:00:08 GMT by the runtime, and you can see the local time is being correctly reported as 02:00:08 BST. Note also the ddmdatetime8061 is also 02:00:08 i.e. BST.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 02:00:08 GMT+0100 (BST) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:00:08 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T02:00:08, ddm.time24: 02:00:08
In the database the entry values MXI_VALUES ModifyTime field has the GMT / UTC timestamp.
I also set up some pending value objects to be applied at 00:59:59 and 01:30:00 to see if the 01:30:00 would be 'skipped' as the locl clock change would've gone from 00:59:59 to 02:00:00. Well the pending values were correctly applied and expired and no 'lost' transactions happened as a result of the change.
So essentially it seems to me that the IdM runtime and scheduler times are all based on UTC / GMT.
I guess it's only an issue twice a year if you're expecting something to happen at a specific local time 01:00:00 or if you've got a global user base and their account expiry should be in each user's own country's local time. In these cases, it would seem that you'd need to convert the schedule times and pending value times to UTC first before setting them in the database.
Has anyone else had any issues, thoughts, questions or suggestioins on scheduling tasks which span the DST time change when switching to and from Daylight Savings Time.

  • Site synchronization and daylight savings/standard time

The familiar problem of Dreamweaver not accounting for the
change from Daylight Savings to Standard time persists with CS3.
This only shows up on Windows machines. Windows (tested with both
XP and Vista) maintains all file times in UTC, and changes the
locally displayed time based on the time zone. The remote servers
are all Linux boxes running Apache. DW connection is through SFTP.
Dreamweaver appears unable to figure out the local time stamp
offset imposed by Windows. After changing from Daylight Savings to
Standard time, Check In operations produce a message that all
remote files are dated an hour later than the local files. This is
the opposite behavior one sees in the Spring, when the change from
Standard to DST has Dreamweaver believing all remote files are an
    hour out of date.
In the past I have manually changed the file modification
times on all files for every site. Given that this comes to several
hundred thousand individual files, it is a pain. Searching yet
again for a method to convince Dreamweaver to correctly interpret
the file timestamps produced little more than Google's listing
thousands of search hits for other folks mentioning the same
    problem.
It made no difference which timezone the server was in (or
set to) relative to the PC running Dreamweaver. The timezones could
be identical or different -- DW always complained the remote files
were an hour later than the local ones. I changed timezones on both
the server and the local machine. No help. Neither was rebuilding
the site cache nor manually deleting the WinFileCache*.dat file. I
also tried manually editing a dwsync.xml file in a _notes folder to
see if I could alter DW's view of the world. Again, no such luck.
Making matters far worse, however, Dreamweaver complains
about file time differences in newly modified files as well. A
standard Synchronize command produces "Resolve" errors for every
newly modified file that is not first checked out from the remote
site using DW, saying both local and remote versions have changed
since the last sync. Running "Check In" on a newly modified file
that was not explicitly checked out (e.g. an image or other binary
file) does nothing, as DW sees a timestamp discrepancy. These files
must first be Put to the site, with the corresponding DW error
dialog, and then be checked in.
I am suspecting the problem stems from Dreamweaver's lack of
    support for the
    MDTM
command. Many other products, ranging from commercial packages
such as WS_FTP and Microsoft's Expression Web, to $30 shareware
programs such as Beyond Compare, to freeware programs including
WinSCP all correctly interpret Windows timestamps as well as
preserving the correct time upon file uploads. Is there any
solution other than changing the timestamps by an hour on every
file or getting every file from all sites to satisfy Dreamweaver's
belief that the files are all an hour newer than they actually are?
The former is a non-trivial task given the sheer number of files to
change; the latter is a bandwidth PITA for ~90GB of data.
Message to Adobe: Please fix this problem. It hits users
connecting Windows local machines to Linux servers twice a year.
Your competitors as well as shareware authors have sorted this
    matter out.

  • Daylight Savings Time and Alarmsk

Since the daylight savings time updated over the weekend the alarms I had programmed on my iPhone will not set properly. The phone displays the correct current time so I know the clock has updated but any alarms I have set for the hour of 2am - 3am don't display the proper time. They keep reverting to 1-2am. I have deleted them and recreated them with the same results, on 2 different iPhones, a 4gig and an 8gig.

I see im not the only one that gets up early. v1.1.3 and updated to 1.1.4 I am unable to set the alarm to any time in 2AM (2:01, 3, 4, 5, etc..) any time set to 2AM shows 1AM in the alarm. 2PM shows fine. Any hour of the day shows fine. The error is setting a time of 2AM as it will not show that time and will revert to 1AM.
I am in a zone that uses DST.
I guess apple doesnt want us to wake up to pay the bills.
I hope someone has a fix for this before I goto bed... busting out the old alarm clock now.

  • CUE timezone and daylight savings time

    Hi,
Having issue where CUEs don't seem to be adjusting for daylight savings time. Timezone is set correct to EST but is a hour off because its daylight savings time now. The router and CUE are configured to use same NTP server and router has summertime setting and adjusts for DST fine and has correct time but CUE is a hour behind, like it is not doing DST.
Were on version 2.2(2) of CUE software.
This is also in indiana where the laws changed recently so maybe that has something to do with this.
    Any ideas?

Very likely due to the change in Indiana. A workaround would be to change the timezone to an EST zone that observes DST such as America/Louisville (Eastern Time - Kentucky - Louisville Area).
    Hope this helps.

  • SimpleDateFormat and Daylight Savings Time

I am trying to parse into a Date "April 15 1999" with "MMM d YYYY" using SimpleDateFormat. This string parses w/out error and the resulting Date is: Thu Apr 15 00:00:00 PST 1999. This is correct in that I am in California. The problem is that 4/15 is Daylight Savings Time in 1999. The getTimeZone result for the parent DateFormat is "SystemV/PST8PDT". I have wrestled with this for over a day now, I admit it, I need help.
Anyone have any ideas what could be happening here?

  • COREid and Daylight Savings Time for 2007

Do COREid or any of its components require any special fix in order to comply or function properly with the new Daylight Savings Time for 2007?
    Background:
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act,
which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time
(DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks
earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later
(2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had traditionally
    occurred.

We have experienced many problems with DST and COREid in the past; most of them resulting in hung Access server and unavailability. I don't know if it's because we have components distributed across multiple time zones or what. Our plan is to have someone available at the time change to cycle the services (and maybe the server as a whole) and do a health check after the fact. I hope this helps.

  • IPOD and Mac did not properly adjust for Daylight Savings Time

Hi, I have noticed that my iPod and my Mac Mini do not appear to have the latest update for Daylight Savings Time.  There were a few adjustments this year that do not seem to be reflected on the Mac devices  ???  I was using my iPod for time and was thrown off when time change before DST went into affect.

So, in your system preferences on the mini, under Date and Time, you have the box checked that says "Set date and time automatically"? Then, on the time zone tab, you have selected your correct time zone? I typically leave the box there unchecked that says to try and set automatically using current location.
